Decent hotel, well priced, well located close to paddington and multiple tube lines. You will hear your neighbours regardless of whether they’re quiet or not but wasn’t troublesome. Tall travellers will want to watch their head in the hallway, maybe 6’2

Avoid this hotel. We dealt with bedbugs, a locked HVAC system, and no running water for the first 48 hours of our trip. I had to pay for a gym access just to shower because the hotel couldn't provide basic utilities.
The staff's response was completely inadequate; they kept pushing the timeline back before finally admitting they had no idea when the water would return. A vacation should not involve hunting for a place to bathe. Absolutely unacceptable service and room conditions.

Location of hotel is wonderful Our room overlooked Kensington Gardens. The room was spacious though simple. We loved that the bathroom had a usable tub with really hot water. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful. I loved that you could choose not to have room cleaning every day, and they would give a 7 pound voucher at the restaurant each day you declined cleaning. We were always out so appreciated the trade off because we weren’t messy. Short walk to tube and really safe area.

About 10 minute walk from Paddington station. Good sized rooms for London. Helpful and efficient staff. Good breakfast with lots of choice. Good wifi and rooms had a work desk. Lots of restaurants and underground stations for different lines close to the hotel.

Firstly, positives- the rooms are clean, quiet and the shower is decent. The staff are the best thing about this hotel. So kind, polite, helpful and go above and beyond. Beds are comfy,

Negatives- I asked for a cot. They gave a cot with no mattress instead they had put bath towels in the bottom with a sheet over the top. I explained this isn’t safe for a baby and I need a mattress. They don’t have one. Come on thistle hotels that’s so poor! Look up lullaby trust and learn about safe sleep! The manager, a mum herself was mortified. House keeping came up, offered a duvet, again I explained safe sleep, said they would go speak to reception but no call 25 mins later. Call reception, she apologised profusely and moves us to a family room whereby we can put the single bed on the floor for our child. We had to pad this with pillows so he didn’t roll out but the room was better. Bit of blood on one of the bedsheets but we just removed this.

Morning- breakfast. Asked for two poached eggs and two veggie sausages as an extra. Came after 10 mins. Two bites of veggie sausage and they were raw. 10 minutes later I’m throwing up and really unwell. Again staff apologised.

Also the 3 lifts didn’t work the whole time. One occasionally worked. Luckily the staff understood I couldn’t take a child, pram up 8 floors so we used the service lift but come on!

Sadly, although the staff especially both male night reception manager and female dark haired one were amazing,it’s not worth a return

The hotel was genearally good and in a great place. The check in and check out process was easy and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and mostly clean but there was some dirt / debris on the floor under the unit and the top of the unit had something spilt on it. In the dining room I saw a member of staff pick up some serving tongues from the floor and put them back onto the food for people to use!

Very good welcome. Liked the fact you could miss housekeeping and get a £7 reward. Room took a long time to warm up and duvet not big or thick enough meaning a cold nights sleep. Didn’t eat at hotel. Very clean room with lovely towels and good tv but no extra channels. Friendly staff

We arrived early and the gentleman on reception advised we could check in early and was very helpful with lots of info regarding the area and getting around.
We dropped our bags in the room (and although a little small seemed clean and tidy) and went straight out for a day & evening of sightseeing. On getting back to the room at approx 2330 it was extremely cold, I tried turning the heating up but it was just blowing out cold air and we then realised that the window was open and we were unable to close it. As I was already in my pj’s I tried calling down to reception but it just kept ringing out so my husband for dressed and went down to reception. The man on reception was not very helpful and did not really seem very bothered but advised that he should come back down to reception once we had packed our things and he would get us another room. He did not offer any assistance with our bags or for anyone to fix either the window or heating. At almost midnight I then had to get dressed, pack and go down to reception.
We were given another room which was lovely and warm but there was a loud humming noise that seemed to be either a boiler or possibly the main air-con unit.
Breakfast was adequate with a good selection of cereals, pastries, cold meats and the traditional English breakfast items. There was a leak from the ceiling in the restaurant on the first morning which had not been fixed and seemed to have got worse on the second morning.

The room wasn't the best as there wasn't a door to separate the rooms. For a room for four people there were only three towels and three cups, even though we asked for another it didn't arrive. The bedding was covered in makeup and when we asked for it to be changed this wasn't completed either. Housekeeping was rude on the morning of checkout even though we still had an hour before needing to leave. The prices in the bar were high considering the area wasn't exactly spectacular.

I received an outstanding welcome from the two receptionists on duty when I arrived at the Hotel on Sunday, 1st February.

The presentation and cleanliness of the room, initially allocated to me, was dire!

The decor was tired: the walls were grubby and the carpet very badly stained.

The surfaces throughout my room were dusty in the extreme. There is a cupboard in the room containing an ironing board with an iron resting on a shelf. The shelf was covered in dust thick enough for me to be able to write my name in it. Even the door hinges of this cupboard were caked in dust.

However, I was most surprised by the filthy condition of the metallic architrave to the shower unit in the bathroom. An accumulation of dust had become engrained as a result of dust and moisture coagulating in the stainless steel frame to the door. There was a very poor, albeit unsuccessful attempt, to rake out the thick grimy deposit on the evening of my first night's stay. I am pleased to say that on the day after my arrival I was transferred to a much better room with acceptable standards of presentation.

It is manifestly plain that the cleaning staff are not being properly motivated, supervised, managed and monitored in order to achieve a consistent benchmark standard of cleanliness throughout all of the rooms in the hotel. It might be time for some of them to consider their positions!

Is the second time someeneters the room at 8am when we are sleeping, this time after someone entered the room, woke us up and then leave, a lady called on the phone just to ask my last name, waking us up again. This is unacceptable. Their excuse is that the system is not working properly. But thats not enough, if the hotel is worried about who’s staying in their rooms, than I’ not only worried to get woken up at 8am in mu holidays, but I’m also worried that thay don’t know who’s going around the hotel. We had a great experience with the staff at Thistle, check in was easy and they stored our luggage until check in so we were able to go out and enjoy our day without worrying about our luggage. We had a twin room on the fifth floor with a view of Hyde Park. The room was tidy and clean and the view was good with the large window. The downsides that we experienced were that one of our twin beds was squeaky so that made it difficult to sleep. Also, we could hear a lot of the other guests, especially the closing of doors which was quite loud. This may not be ideal for anyone who's a light sleeper or people with babies or young children who are easily woken. Aside from those issues, the hotel is great. The location was idea with walking access to the Queensway and Bayswater Underground station. There is a lot of restaurants close by, including the Shell station below the hotel which has snacks and drinks. I would definitely consider staying here again.

The property failed to disclose that major maintenance works were taking place, yet charged me the full amount for accommodation that was noisy, disruptive, and completely unfit for habitation.

I would like to make it explicitly clear that I have a medical condition that requires complete rest and uninterrupted, comfortable sleep. In addition, I am an athlete, and sufficient quality sleep is essential for my full recovery and for me to perform my physical activities properly. I informed the property of both my medical condition and athletic requirements at the time of check-in.

Despite this, from the very first day I was continuously disturbed for four consecutive days. I was unable to rest at all during my stay. The environment made it impossible for me to sleep, recover, or function normally.

No meaningful solution, refund, or compensation was offered. When we escalated the matter to the manager, her behaviour was extremely unprofessional and unacceptable — she shouted at me. I have video evidence that clearly documents this incident.

The offer of a 30% refund, which I have not even received to date, is entirely inadequate and unacceptable given the circumstances. I paid in full for a service I did not benefit from in any way.

I am therefore formally demanding a 100% refund. Should this matter not be resolved immediately, I will proceed to report this case to my insurance provider and my bank as a case of misrepresentation and potential fraud.

The location of this hotel was good. Directly across the street from Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens.
The on property restaurant and bar was very convenient.
The rooms are extremely small even though we had upgraded to a Deluxe King Garden View.
There was nothing Deluxe about this room.
There are literally no dresser or drawers to put your clothes away. We stayed here for 5 nights and lived out of two huge suitcases where their was not even room to lay our suitcase flat.
The bathroom as well had no storage space.
The large oversized tub made it extremely hard and difficult to get into and out of the shower.
I would recommend this hotel for a business traveler with a 1or 2 night stay with a small carry on suit case.
I would NOT recommend this hotel to tourist travelers who are have large suitcases and need a place to put clothes and things away. They did not even have nightstands only tables. The lack of storage space in the room and bathroom and the size of the extremely small deluxe room is the reason I gave a lower score for this hotel.
Again, if your a business traveler for a short stay, it's fine. Anyone else I would recommend a different hotel or even an Airbnb. Honestly for the money we spent we could have had a very nice 2 bedroom apartment in Kensington. My bad in booking. The hotel could make this better if they were to add nightstands with drawers on each side of the bed and a small dresser with at least 3 drawers and some storage in the bathroom.

Hassan on reception was absolutely fantastic, really professional and welcoming.
We paid to upgrade our room to a deluxe King room, room very clean, bed comfortable. However, we returned extremely late at night to find the room very cold (weather was cold), but unfortunately the thermostat/ heating wouldn’t work, and there were no extra blankets in the room. We felt it was too late at night to report the issue, and just wanted to get to bed. I imagine that the hotel would’ve resolved the issue, had we raised it with them, as the staff were excellent.

The Hotel is located in a great district and close to a lot of great restaurants and places of interest. The stop for the hop on hop off bus and other transportation is right out front. Our room was very nice comfortanle and cean. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was great. Really good food and lots of selection. Our waitress/hostess named Hina was very attentive; kind and helpful to everyone. She remembered us every day and made sure we got our special order eggs. She was also quick to make sure the food trays and bread etc were well stocked. We have recommended this hotel to friends planning a trip to London.

The room had scuff marks everywhere in the room along the walls. The best part was being woken up to full on jackhammering that shock us out of bed with no prior knowledge or information from the staff. When I asked the front desk about it, they acted like I was crazy. I have videos recording the sound and pictures of the work being done. I immediately reached out to Expedia who started resolving the situation. Otherwise the location was fantastic but wished they cared about their guests.

Only complaint about the room was the shower in the tub. Always had a fllood on the floor when finished as plastic panel door not long enough.

The shower over the bath in this property is DANGEROUS! The shower is at the end of the bath which is sonarrow you can hardly stand with your feet together. There is no shower curtain, NO GRAB RAIL & the hinged glass panel allows water to leak all over the floor. A slight slip and you’re GONE!

Not a Thistle experience as i remember it

Hotel clean and quite well situated, rooms clean but quite small for the price and only one chair to sit on, mini fridge a good idea, option to not have your room cleaned / towels changed daily a good idea especially with a £7 bar voucher but didnt realise it meant that they would not replenish the tea / coffee provisions. Bar area clean but service quite slow aspecially as it comes with a service charge.
Only 2 very small lifts not adequate for a hotel that size.
Breakfast was the main issue for us, buffet style which is fine platescwarm but food also only luke warm so gone cold by the time you had taken it to the table and only 2 very slow coffee machines serving half pot portions at a time, many people needing to do two requests at a time leading to queues and a long wait for coffees. Toaster doesnt toast the bread in one cycle and there is a sign asking people not to use it twice. Limited continental choices too.
Was booked as a surprise trip for my wifes 50th birthday and didnt want to go premier inn / travelodge route as it was a treat however both of us felt we would have had a better experience in a premier inn for a more reasonable price

If there was an episode of Hotel Hell, Gordon Ramsay take note! The hotel is in a nice area and a great location across from Hyde Park. To begin, the staff and welcoming is anything from friendly at checkin. A smile would be nice. We had two rooms as we were moving my daughter to London for school. The rooms were dirty, the amount of dust on the lamps by the bed showed that they have never met a dust rag. There is rubbish under the furniture and fixtures showing that a vacuum has never touched these areas. Stains on the floor, bathroom walls and bedroom walls were enough to make us feel like we were staying in a petri dish. If you want rest, think again. House keeping is up bright and early slamming door's every 10 to 30 seconds and it echoes down the hall. No need for a wakeup call or an alarm as you can set your watch by them. That added to the hotel deciding to remodel the room across from us was painful. Our air-conditioning broke halfway through the trip. They came up to take a look at it and cleaned the filter and said it was fixed, it wasn't. They said they could move us, but that separated us from our party and we were sharing our room safe as our other room's safe was broken so everything was in our room. It was not convenient to move rooms as we had a lot of luggage for the move. The "Do Not Disturb" sign is a mere suggestion. We came back one day to a Nespresso machine placed in our room, never asked for it. For the money, stay somewhere else.

Elevators were extremely slow, which is a problem since even the lobby is one floor up from the ground level. The room was acceptable, but could be cleaner. Overall, the room and hallways look due for a facelift. Benefit is the hotel is walking distance to parks, Portobello and Oxford shopping and Paddington station

Great location even with tube strike - extremely comfortable bed - looking out over Hyde Park but no traffic sounds and blackout curtains were 100%
