It was the most discriminative environment I have ever been in. We were watched continuously for what I believe to be from our color. They frowned at us and whispered continuously. After being monitored for so long, we started to document the experience and have a bit of tangible evidence of the injustices. We paid for the v.i.p rooms and experience and it didn’t feel like it at all. It seems as if because of the language barrier that after we asked a question, they attempted once to answer and then would either walk off or just have an awkward silence until we came up with a solution ourselves. The security at one point followed us and asked “do you belong here?” We watched as other guests enjoyed the luxurious experience we should have had, even the ones who didn’t pay for v.i.p. The food was not good at all. We stayed for 7 days and 6 nights and for the first 4 days the water on the shore was filthy. On the 5th day they filtered the water and you could literally hear the people rejoicing. This was my first time out of the country and it was a terrible experience. One day as we entered the hotel from going downtown, one of the workers got on his small walkie talkie and uttered some words as he looked at us and then hurriedly turned his head, we went up the elevator which is in terrible condition btw and got to our room to ironically discover that the keypad to our room went out. The stay at this place was not welcoming and it feels as if people of color aren’t wanted.

Took my wife, 2 year old daughter and mother in law. Had adjoining rooms, perfect set up to let us come in and out of baby was asleep in ext room over and not make noise to wake her. We absolutely loved it. If you’re looking for the party vibe, crowd, spring break- this ain’t it. Very chill, relax setting, amazing service, clean grounds, beautiful sandy beach. We upgraded to the level service( do it), great food!!! Plan to come back ASAP
Concierge Gerardo was on top of it ! Clear communication, eager to assist in any way he could.
All the servers were fantastic, our regular became Guadalupe, sweet lady, consistent attention made sure we were set. Amazing place

The room and the staff and the food and the location were absolutely wonderful. I was a bit put off by the all inclusive emphasis including snorkel gear, kayaks etc but then after an hour you had to pay $10 or more. In the spa I got an absolutely fantastic massage but I had booked a massage and a facial and I wrote that down on the form I filled out. Small discrepancies for sure. Overall we loved it

This is our first time going to an all inclusive and to Mexico so we have nothing to judge off of but we had a great time. The resort was a bit outdated but was very clean. The staff were super nice, helpful and wanted to make our experience wonderful.
The food was good. we found items at each dinner that were delicious. They have different themes for each evening. We ate breakfast and dinner at the buffet. Tons of options that we could get a filling meal and be able to try new food and still have basic options if we wanted. We didn’t go to the 2 restaurants just because having a set time didn’t work out for when we were hungry or not
The beach was great the last day and half. The water was brown from the sargassum so we ventured down to the other side of the barrier and swam there. the workers did a wonderful job keeping the beach clean though. No build up and no smell
For the price point and overall experience we would definitely stay here again
We also used Fantasy travel for airport shuttle which you could book ahead of time with all your flight info and they set the times. 10 minute drive from airport to the resort

the staff and the overall joyful atmosphere of the resort are wonderful.
the pools and sandy beach are great.
Diego helped everyday on the beach, and Luis kept the pool bar drinks flowing.
plenty of hot water for showers.
it was easy to receive reservations at the ala cart restaurants.
the elephant in the room is the seaweed & mangrove grass. they work each day to remove it, but the first 50ft of water remains brown. after that, beautiful shades of blue.
a 500 ft walk down the beach takes you to clear water.
there is also a hippo in the pool, but he is a slide.
the food is even better than I remember from past stays.
i was surprised to find that the catamaran use was an add on fee, but that misunderstanding is not the fault of Melia, as I booked through a third party description. I had a fantastic hour of sailing with Memo as my guide.
we enjoyed our relaxing days at the Melia.
sand, sun, pool, dining- it was a good time!

Adult pool is also the one by the beach so unless you want to spend entire vacation at toddler pool away from the beach I wouldn’t recommend.

No information was given during check in about activities, food, drinks and didn't get our spa discount or 200.00 resort credit. Swim up bar is way to small for the amount of people that want to use it. Adult pool is also too small. Water was always everywhere and the tile is so slippery I slipped and fell twice. All the service employees were great and friendly. Restaurant hours are not very accommodating nor the bars. Menu changes for lunch and snacks are needed. Food and drink availability should be from morning to midnight. No hot tubs. This is not what we were expecting from an all inclusive resort. A real let down.

Our visit was great. There were so many activities for the kids. The food at the buffet was not desirable but no worse than any other all inclusive resort. They could do a better job of allowing reservations to their other restaurants every night which would fix the issue with the buffet food being undesirable.

Room was clean, no elevator so be aware, only 2 bar locations, 2 small pools, and alot of stairs. Food was absolutely horrible compared to other resorts we have stayed, bed was old and in roigh shape.

It was a decent all inclusive. Wifi was spotty. First day we came, greeted by bellboys and then went to check in as the online check in wasn’t working. Met Hannah who was helpful in introducing us to the hotel but informed us that they are going through Reno’s and tried to ask us to go to a 45 min presentation in exchange for a $70 usd romantic dinner or one day at the level to get a cabana bed. We were so exhausted we declined. We got a call at 8:30 the next morning from her reminding us to see guest services to book for the included restaurants. We booked a night at the fish house and the yucatan restaurant and a magic show evening. Every restaurant has a separate menu if you wanted to pay extra otherwise all included. The staff were friendly and I enjoyed the service from Jorge, Anna, Emilio, and Feliciano from the mosaico buffet. The pool bar was great and Santiago made the best drinks. I only had mocktails but they were fantastic. Lots of seaweed and at night, some of the night entertainment or Renos can be heard through the walls of the hotel and kept us up. Sometimes some kids didn’t adhere to the adult pool being adults only. Not hard to secure lounge spots. Very few bugs around. A few dead cockroaches noted in the one public bathroom but otherwise the maids work very hard to keep everything clean. We loved grabbing ice cream at the latte station and they had entertainment throughout the day with activities, tennis court, etc. Massage lady trying to sell daily massage

Our room was nice. The staff is always amazing. But 3 out od 5 days my family was sick from eating the buffet. Diarrhea,vomiting,and cramps. We have been here several times before with no issues. My 12 year old would eat only french toast because he was afraid of being sick again and thw food selection was AWFUL!!!!! it rained and the dining area as well as halls were flooded. My husband and I could barely move because the bed was awful. We were in The Level area.

After 5 times WE WILL NOT RETURN!!!

We travel to all inclusives quite frequently and the food at this particular resort is the worst we’ve had. The most bottom shelf liquor I’ve ever seen, vodka and tequila in plastic bottles with names you’ve never heard of. Very tiny resort and not a lot to do. Staff was very kind and nice

Overall Melia All Inclusive was a really good choice for a more intimate vibe if that is what you’re feeling. There isn’t a lot of loud party’s going on through out the days. The staff was amazing, always welcoming and delighted to see you where ever you are on the resort. Overall I love the fact the buffet does theme dinner nights through out the week. Always plenty of options even if you don’t eat seafood. My boyfriend and I stayed on the Level Room on the 10th floor and can’t get over the ocean views from sunrise to sunsets. Not to mention leaving the door open and falling asleep to the ocean waves. Thank you Melia for a wonderful experience.

Melia was excellent for our stay. The location is at the northern most tip of the island so it can be a tad windy and the water in front of the hotel can go murky. The beach itself was excellent with plenty of seating and sand to play in.

The highlight of Melia is the staff. We had exceptional service at every turn. The beach drinks were served by Christian who was always around and running back and forth getting the drinks to you. At night the beach security was done by Ramone who was friendly and always had a smile. When it came to resturants, the food was top notch with plenty of options and always served with a smile. Family had some picky eaters and they came away smiling. No issues with any upset tummys and we ate everything there was to eat.

There are many activities for kids (basketball, shuffleboard, mini golf) along with a kids club if you want to ditch them.

Transportation to the Hotel takes 15min from the airport and the cost is 300mxn. I would recommend walking outside the airport towards the traffic circle and there is a line up of taxis. You can book a shuttle at the airport but will pay around 30usd per person.

The snorkeling at the resort is mid. The water is a bit murky. But if you walk over to the break wall in front of Westin Hotel, the water is clear and that are tons of fish to look at. Check-out the wall itself as it's teaming with life.

Overall an excellent choice and would recommend for families, not a party resort.

Service was rough. Rooms are needing severe upgrades. Beds and pillows were very uncomfortable. Food and drinks were not appetizing. Things close early, only thing open majority of the time was a sloppy
buffet. You have to make reservations for the restaurants and when we tried there was no available times for days, along with the cabanas.
For this kind of experience don’t even waste your time and money. We went with 3 other couples and nobody enjoyed their stay unfortunately.

We have stayed here many times over the past 20 years, and found this year was indeed the cleanest I have ever seen @ the Melia. We finally got a great room oceanfront!
I have over 25 years in Quality & continuous improvement. There are opportunities for improvement needed in food preservation. Most if not all prepared food was cold. Even at opening of buffet hour food was cool. People were pretty good about returning the covers on the skillet pans, but heat to them is inadequate at best. I realize buffet style is a challenge, but the current process greatly needs improvement.
I would think warming lights much lower to the food may be worth while. It is my understanding that there are new owners. I would challenge them to secure a higher temperature for prepared food. Perhaps monitoring the temperature in several areas and gathering the data first would help you decide other means of improvement.

The property itself is beautiful and the beach is absolutely stunning. The drinks were consistently great and one of the highlights of the stay. You will have to ask for a double to equate to a normal drink. The grounds are well maintained and the setting is very relaxing.

Unfortunately, the overall service experience did not match the setting. The majority of the staff seemed disengaged and uninterested. Our assigned concierge, Gerardo, was not helpful - I messaged him multiple times with questions and either received no response or a reply the following day, which made planning difficult.

The buffet was also disappointing. The food was consistently cold and the selection was very limited at most meals.

While the location and beach are fantastic, the level of customer service did not meet expectations. For the price point, I would likely choose a different property next time with stronger service and better dining options.

We have gone to the Melia for years now. We were terribly disappointed in the food. My fiance got food poisoning and has been terribly sick for 2 weeks so far. Then they charged us $50.00 to change the sheets from the mess he made. The wait staff in the buffet was not near as friendly or accommodating as in years past. The service at the bar was wonderful. Willian did a fantastic job as always.

Dinner at the show was served cold, soup and chicken breast.
Only allowed to select a restaurant for dinner once during our three night stay. The dinner at Fish house was the best through our stay.
Limited and cheapest brands of alcohol unless you upgrade to what is called \"Level\"

This was our third visit to the Melia. We have brought several guests with us and there is very little complaining. The biggest negative is the pool temperature during winter months. The seaweed was also bad this January but that can’t be helped. The staff is always courteous and helpful. The hotel is always clean as are the rooms. Thanks again for a relaxing stay.

Everything was great . The room, bed, food, view, beach and drinks. The staff were awesome.
Shout out to Mr. “JC”Juan Carlos and his twin(lol), Gerardo, Mr. Felipe, and Rafael; whom were all super friendly and sweet.

I lost my purse which was totally my fault; someone turned it into security. This would have not happened anywhere else. My life was in that purse. It was returned untouched.
Jet skiing, paddle boarding and kayaking are all included. Oh and you can get shots too as part of the all inclusive package. The pool is laid back you don’t have to fight anyone to get in. The cabana’s got fast near the water. So reserve them early.
They have a family side and adult side. It is ver much kid friendly and not an overwhelming huge resort.

“Story Time”
We “got bamboozled” at the airport and JC made it right. He presented a presentation of Melia and gave us a gift 2 full body massages.
The spa was great. I fell asleep getting a full body massage. The gym is super neat a clean.
I will definitely be back. It was so comfortable and relaxing. Best vacation I’ve had with the hubby.
If you are truly looking to R&R this is the place.

If you are looking to a bunch of non- sense yelling and activities at the pool this anit it.
Frankly, I get tired of resorts like that.
I have found my happy place with Melia.

The food was less than adequate. Hot food was not hot, cold food not cold. One of our party got food poisoning after eating fish from the food cart out by the pool. Sick for 3 days. A lot of construction around the resort. Seaweed filled the whole coastline.

Bartenders were awesome. Very attentive.

This hotel has a very large beach. Drinks are fabulous. Super friendly staff all over. Snorkeling is amazing with a little walk down the beach and float back to the sea wall. Literally best snorkeling of our life. Everything is cleaned constantly here. Food great...love the soups, fresh breads, ceviche, fresh fruit. We will be comong back. Fantastic value. Great area for swimming in ocean with no rocks out front. Next time we will bring the kids. Adults pool cool this time of year.

The rooms were very outdated. And you could see that there were a few spots that black mold was painted over. Food options are very limited — you have 1 buffet and then a restaurant to chose from twice if you stay 7 days. We ended up waiting for half an hour to get a glass of wine at the restaurant as well.

The gym was nice and the beach had great sand!

When I read through the reviews before our trip, I was a little nervous but once we got there we had the best time. The Adult pool was very cold so we spent most of our time at the other pool with the kids slide and once we got in the water it was fine. Great sun exposure back there, lots of kid activities, tons of pool beds, and the cabanas were great to use.
The staff were so friendly and great. We had so much fun. The lobby bar was a lot of fun at night time, and there was entertainment every night.
The breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet was some of the best we've had at a resort in Cozmel. The bread was to die for, fresh fruit, the breakfast was amazing, and dinners were really good.
The rooms were just fine for the little time we actually spent in the rooms. The beds could be a little softer but it was okay, we slept good. Good water pressure in the shower.
The sand on the beach was so soft, the water is brown there but if you walk down to the next resort its clear blue and really pretty to snorkle in.
The ride to town was short and only cost us $10 a cab ride which was fine.
All in all, we had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back.

Staff is wonderful!! The room was clean. A/c great. Pool clean. Fun activities: volleyball, soccer, mini golf, Zumba, drum healing yoga!! So much to do if you have kids. Very peaceful. Drinks lovely. Dining options for all. We choose to level up for a better experience. Then you can reserve cabanas by sea or pool. We love this Meliá! Been coming for many years. Very safe.

Clean room. Always restocked daily supplies water etc. every person was amazing truly wanted us to have the best time.
