Very nice. Had to switch rooms because the air conditioner didn’t work but got a much nicer room with a view of the river. We got free parking because of the VIP thing so saved 14. Breakfast was a 12 euro buffet, we skipped because we don’t eat that much for breakfast.

Lovely Stay In Nantes

The boys loved that there was a skatepark just across the road. There was a good variety on the breakfast buffet - but it was difficult to access when busy as everything was within a small area. Beds were comfortable and cosy and so beautiful. A spare pillow would be welcomed in the bedrooms.

The location on the Île de Nantes is ideal to see the city. Althought the hotel has a nice restaurant of it own, there are many small restaurants around and within easy walking distance. I would happily recommend this Novotel it to anyone.

On-site parking is good, and pet friendly. However, we paid extra for pet and for 2 days stay, but room was not cleaned as asked. The breakfast had packaged junk foods mostly. It’s a good hotel though worth stay because basic upkeep is good, and location is good.

Check out is at midday and we arrived at 3:30 pm to be told that our room wasn’t ready and staff couldn’t tell us when it would be ready. Instead of offering us a drink while we wait or alternative room, the staff just mucked around saying they didn’t know and had to wait for a call from housekeeping. I wanted to purchase breakfast for 4 adults and was told “No”, because our room wasn’t ready. Didn’t bother in the end, their loss. The drains in the bathroom sink and bath were blocked, so filled when running water and having a shower, gross. Location excellent. Walking distance to Les Machines de L’iles and city centre.

I would have given it full rating but there was no restaurant during our stay. It was not bad, the only drawback is the location as it is far from everything and its close to a shady part of town. I probably would book if i have transportion but walking to the main attractions takes a good 20 mins and nothing else is close by for food or supermarket.

Great location, the main city centre is just over the bridge. The bed was enormous, the room well air conditioned and the black-out blinds led to a blissfully long sleep! Tea and coffee facilities in the room along with a fridge and complimentary water. There is a small, secure car park under the hotel and a good buffet breakfast option.

Good location, big room and quiet

The room was big, comfortable and quiet even if we were on the road side.
The staff was helpful.
We used the indoor parking which is not very big but looks safer than parking nearby the road.
The breakfast was in the average you can find in this kind of city hotels, maybe a bit expensive compared to the others.
Our air conditioning didn't work and to apology we didn't have to pay the parking.

Lacking breakfast choice on one of the days

Stayed for a couple of nights. Usual Novotel standard, which I always find is very good. Friendy bi-lingual staff and everthing tidy and laid out well. On the first morning (around 0800 on a Sat) the breakfast buffet wasnt so much as a buffet but a treasure hunt, hunt the food! A large coach party had been staying and whether they had been down early and cleaned out the place I dont know but there were a few croissants, half a baguette, a couple of yogurts and some fruit. To be fair the Sunday at a similar time the buffet was fully stocked so one of those things!

We had a great stay at the Novotel. It was only a short walk from the town centre and the rooms were very clean with nice thick windows to block out the road noise outside. My room was opposite a lift but they were very quiet and I didnt get woken up once by noise. I found the breakfast buffet lacked choice, but the items there were of good quality and very tasty. 5 star.

Nice hotel on the other side of the river

Very similar to other Novotels but attention to detail could improve. Slightly different wifi set up so we couldn't log on with different family members' iPhone/iPads all at the same time. Had to wait till kids had done their online homework before we could book the rest of the journey. Staff were friendly, helpful and spoke English well. Water in bar fridge was complimentary but there was no juices or soft drinks on offer. Walking distance of all the attractions. We had a ball at the Grand Elephant and the Machines d'Ile de Nantes - much more original.

A great little find

The room was spacious and really clean - particularly impressive bathroom. Great location too, right on the river and near lots of restaurants. The only negative was the breakfast was served in the bar rather than the restaurant - seemed a bit strange to me. It was unusual to find a receptionist who didn't speak English, it was no problem to me as I could switch to French but if you don't speak French, it could be an issue

Well located smart but relaxed hotel, a short walk from the city centre, with the superb tram line stop immediately outside. Staff were very friendly on our arrival for a one night stop-over and we parked our cars in the secure underground car park located below the hotel..

We turned up late on a Sunday and the friendly cheerful restaurant staff catered for our extended family (9) admirably with tasty well cooked food. A great nights sleep before continuing our journey the next morning. Would certainly stay here again.

Not up to its brand name.

One would expect a Novotel branded hotel to offer a more agreable experience. The climate system in our room was out of order and its control unit was hanging loose off the wall on the wires - easy to spot even for an untrained room-maid. Any attempt to cool yourself by opening the window, will result in getting all the noise from the nearby bridge as a supplement to the fresh air.
Furthermore, the washbasin plug in the bathroom was stuck shut and the water, accumulated inside of it leaked on the shelf with towels and the floor beneath.
We arrived very late to stay just one night, so we didn't care to try and change the room.
The staff didn't really speak English, though they honestly tried to.

This hotel was very nice, I definitely recommend it. The place was modern and clean, and our room and bathroom were large in European standards. The hotel is in a great location, it's an easy walk into the city center or the tram is practically out the front door. Staff was also friendly.

Sort of out of the way, but its right on the river. And I was able to park at the hotel for free (not guaranteed.. there are six spots outside. Its a beautiful urban hotel with a top notch staff. If you want to stay in a low key, slightly edgy little neighborhood, you'll love it here.

Hotel appears to have been renovated in the recent past, workmanship was OK. Stayed two nights, our first room was next to the HV/AC system on the second floor, got no sleep the first night, it sounded like someone was vacuuming all night long. They did move us to another room on the second day, the first move attempt was to a room with a musty/moldy smell, the second attempt was to a nice quiet room with no odor. The walk-in shower was nice amenity perk, not typical to French hotels, and probably installed for the foreign traveler. Tramway stops next to the hotel, just 3 stops (5 minutes) to the Commerce exit for shopping and dining. We did not eat in the hotel, but the restaurant was always packed for dinner and lunch. There are excellent bakeries and sandwich shops downtown. Pro’s - Free Parking, city Tramway stop across from hotel, room price, walk-in shower, friendly staff.

Facts about our stay!

Was given a room upon arrival. Checked room before getting luggage, there was still a guest having a shower in the room when we entered.
Hotel staff tried to make out it was the cleaning staff and did not apologise even once.
They then gave us a new room. When we checked this new room, the bed sheets were dirty, marks from the prvious guests.
Also we were then told we could park our rental car in the basement car park at anytime, then when we tried we need a code which they forgot to give to us.
Would not recommend this hotel, could have found a much better place for cheaper.

This hotel is in a great location on the banks of the Loire with the tram system directly outside and a short walk to the trolley bus making it easy to get around.
The room was spacious with a settee and work desk.
We found the hotel disappointing in other ways. When we arrived there was no soap in the bathroom and the towels were very thin.
The young people on the desk spoke quite good English but did not always follow through on what they said they would do.
I had read quite good reviews about this hotel and so was disappointed.

Excellent for quick stop over

We stayed in this hotel with our two children on the way from Cherbourg to Toulouse. The location is very convenient and the fact that there is an underground carpark is great when the car is full of luggage. The family room is comfortable with two big double beds. We hadn't been in Nantes before and hadn't realised how pretty it is. The children loved the giant moving elephant at the 'Machines des Iles'.

i would not go back to this hotel

i was very dissapointed in this hotel we had a family room with a 7 year old child and the air condition was not working for the full stay of our trip.
the staff was under staffed on one night this made it inpossile to get any kind off services from the bar. some off the staff were not very helpful.

The hotel is well located. It is out of town but there is a tram stop outside and it only takes 10 minuties to get into tow. The restaurant is small. I did not eat there save for breakfast. The breakfast is excellent.
The reception staff were excellent. My room was clean and quiet save for one morning when the laundry van came at 6am. There is free Internet in 20 minute segments. For a clean hotel just out of town I would recommend it. It is a bit sterile being a chain hotel. There is nothing to see around the hotel but you can walk along the Loire.

Pleasant surprise

My wife and I stayed here for one night in advance of an early morning flight from Nantes Atlantique airport. The hotel is modern and spotlessly clean.
As it was 34deg C at 7 p.m. we were more than happy that it was fully air-conditioned, which made the oppressive heat more bearable.
The hotel is located on the banks of the Loire river, near the city centre and there are many pleasant walks on the doorstep.
W e decided to dine in the hotalfor convenience sake and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and service, not to mention the prices.
Never heard a sound at night and slept in a very comfortable bed.
Althought in the city centre, it was an easy 15minute drive to the airport at 7:30 the following morning.
No hesitation in recommending it, and returning if the situation arises again.

Only slight downside was not all hotel staff spoke fluent English but usually at least one staff member did - you just need to be patient!

Excellent find

Myself and my husband chose this hotel because of its convenient location to the airport (as we were flying out the following day with two small children) and to the centre of town. It was perfect as with small children we could easily walk to the historic centre where a multitude of restaurants and sights awaited. Within the hotel there was a small play area for kids so having a drink at the bar could be done in peace! A lovely touch was the complementary teddy bears the kids received on arrival. The room was spotless with a large screen tv and two good sized beds easily accommodating four people. I would definitely stay here again. A big thank you to the friendliest of staff who were very helpful and pleasant.
