The property was lovely. Our housekeeper took our bath mat and soap and never returned either. Although it is in a great location the noise was terrible. We seemed to be around many bars so the noise at was aweful. We never got to sleep until after 2 am and we left exhausted. Then There was the saxophone player on the corner from 12-1 am. Yes, a.m.! I did love the location but would never stay there over a weekend again.

The property is in central Old San Juan, so great location. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Thought we were getting a suite that faced inside courtyard. Ended up with one on the streetside. Was the noisiest hotel we ever stayed at. Make sure to get inside room at check-in. Noise doesn't stop until early morning and started with construction noise before dawn.

Location is great and the staff was very accommodating. The rooftop bar is very nice - although the bar itself was closed the first two nights we were there. The courtyard is small, dark and uninviting. We had an inside room with a small window to the courtyard that's so high up that I could barely see anything. We enjoyed nices breakfasts at the nearby Hotel El Convento.

This hotel is in an amazing location very close to a lot of amazing tourist destinations, shops, restaurants, and bars. We loved our room; it was very clean and comfortable.

We would definitely stay again.

The staf was good. The room was good. There were a couple of issues. The fire alarm went off twice, once at 6:00 p.m. then again at 3:00 a.m.The hotel has no parking. You have to try and find parking. Good luck with that. The room and hotel was very clean.

Stayed 2 nights. Hotel is well located; 10-15 minutes to any places in Old San Juan. We walked to the cruise port. Spacious room 201 but no view - french balcony is a waste. Nice sitting area separate from bedroom. Lots of storage and hangers. Safe is simple. Kitchenette with sink and microwave. Can ask for dishes and cutlery. Fridge works well. Ice machine on 2nd floor. Wonderful helpful front staff. TV's in both rooms but they were super complicated. AC in both rooms are on one controller which worked well. Ceiling fans in both rooms are on separate controllers. Rooftop bar is Thursday to Sunday only... can be heard in this room. They don't recommend drinking the water but will fill your water bottle at the front desk. Wonderful complementary coffee machine at the lobby.

The hotel is beautiful! The room was spotless. The room was spacious and comfortable. The location was perfect in the middle of old San Juan. It allowed us to walk around easily to enjoy the whole city. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We had to add time and switch rooms as a result. The housekeeping staff coordinated with us to make sure we could just move from one room to the next without waiting.

I would stay here again without question.

Air conditioning in our room (204) was terrible. I think it needs to be calibrated. The housekeeping staff set it at 68 and I had to wear my winter jacket. We did get some help and learned to keep the temp at 88 so that the AC would never go on.

Amenities were good. The cleaning had not be completed-seemed that it was interrupted at the bathroom since a garbage liner was left at sink and the sink was unclean -soap scum evident. However all else was clean. Front desk staff were attentive. Bar upstairs is great and the restaurant dinner was filling and ceviche incredible.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Decanter Hotel. It was very close to everything in Old San Juan, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They really went out of their way to help us feel right at home and made great recommendations for things for us to do and restaurants to eat at during the holidays.

The hotel was a traditional feeling hotel. Our room was big and had a wonderful balcony overlooking the street. It was a great space!

We definitely recommend the Decanter for a wonderful stay when staying in Old San Juan.

Unfortunately, we were unable to utilize the rooftop bar as it had a private party the night we stayed, very loud music and unable to sleep until it was over. The rooftop bar was one of the reasons that we chose this hotel, as we would have been able to have food/drinks at the hotel. Price of room should have been less given these are the only amenities at the hotel. Safe was broken in the room, staff unable to have it fixed for our stay. Phone in room was not plugged in, and no outlet found for it. Reported to staff, but not fixed, did not address it and so we were unable to utilize it to call other members of our family in their rooms. Staff were polite and hotel is in a great location for walking around Old San Juan.

Room was in good condition. Not all the staff that encountered were friendly and seemed to not believe in good customer service , but this doesn't reflect the entire staff. Also some amenities offered while booking this location were not available upon arrival at the location, for example the roof top bar and the complimentary wine for the room. The biggest complaint was in the middle of the night around 3 am the fire alarm went off and myself along with my female companion had to rush from our bed and out the door , all for a false alarm and the hotle staff was very nonchalant regarding this huge inconvenience.

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
While the staff was friendly and professional, our stay was marred by several major issues. We were unable to check in on time due to housekeeping delays, and on both nights of our stay, the fire alarm went off around 2:30 a.m., forcing all guests to evacuate temporarily.

Although the hotel offered $40 in compensation, it hardly covered the inconvenience — we missed planned activities because of the late check-in and spent much of our time in San Juan exhausted from lack of sleep. For a property that presents itself as a top-tier hotel, the experience was disappointing and not reflective of the quality we expected.

Went for a couple retreat and I really was impressed with the hotel. It has a great location nearby places to eat or explore. The room has AC and fan but also very spacious! When you walk in, you’re greeted by the front desk to explain the hotel and amenities. They also provide a list of their recommendations for places to eat. The hotel has shared spaces and a rooftop. Staff of the morning is really helpful and servicial. There was no breakfast when we. And but they had a coffee machine and had good coffee! Would come and visit again.

I would have provided 5 stars but we couldn’t visit the rooftop which was the only reason for selecting the hotel. Rooftop bar was very nice and we had some well prepared food.

Location is very convenient for walking around Old San Juan and there are a few car park close (a bit expensive) or 10 min walking from the hotel (cheap).

The reason for the 3* is that in the 3 nights we spent there, they never did a basic cleaning (quick sweep to the floor) nor make the bed. After the first night they said that it was done only on request. So we requested it for the next day and then they say that they do it every 3 days...how convenient. For 1100 US$ for 3 night I honestly expected a better service.

The hotel is in a great location in Old San Juan. Everything is close by and within walking distance. The only downside was the parking. There is no street parking available and no hotel parking. Luckily there was a valet parking lot in front of the hotel but spots are limited so there is no guarantee that you can get a spot.

Great stay in Old San Juan

I stayed in a room with a terrace and it was lovely. I was worried that the Murphy bed might be uncomfortable, but it was very comfortable! The terrace was huge and with lots of places to sit and some shade. The room was larger than I expected, very clean and comfortable with a/c, a ceiling fan, a great closet (with lots of hangers) and very functional bathroom.

The location of the hotel is excellent - a short walk to everything in Old San Juan, and each staff member I had contact with was extremely friendly and helpful. The building itself is also very beautiful.

I would absolutely recommend staying at the Decanter, it was better than I expected and was a great stay in Old San Juan!

My fam and I weren’t able to make it to Puerto Rico due to a huge storm that delayed all flights till the next day. I explained to the hotel and ask for a refund. Furthermore Expedia asked for a refund on my behalf and they also said no. Although it was completely out of my control the hotel administration took my money and said there was no refund allowed. The least they could’ve done was give me a credit for a different day.

Beautiful, roof top sitting with a view of the city, I looove the coffee options from the complimentary coffee machine. Check-in was a breeze, young lady at the front desk was nice, room was clean, bed was a bit creaky but comfy, toiletries and complimentary water were available. Walking distance to many restaurants, store, sights and sounds of Old San Juan. Only downside for the room I booked is that there's not much space if u have a lot of bags or a big bag. It was a good for a solo traveler and would be good if I ate traveling light. I was in the 1 bedroom queen size bed I believe.

Hotel has no great amenities but for me are really not needed as there are lots of restaurants and bars all around Old San Juan. Just a block away from famous San Sebastián Street and La Factoria. Small hotel in OSJ. Walkable to everything. There is construction next door which looks like a big job. The suite has a shared balcony.
The room was spacious. If you’re looking for peace and quiet this is not the place for you. You can hear all the music and noises from outside. I was fine with it since I’m from the city.
Overall I had a good stay at the Decanter.
