Son had a continental breakfast at the Rumbao Market. He said it was good but wished that there were more ethnic food offerings & coffee as well. The room was comfortable and the air conditioning was perfect. We were here for our son’s wedding. Staff was excellent and very attentive and accommodating. We would stay again!

Hotel Rumbao was so beautiful and in the perfect location. It was very easy to navigate everywhere in Old San Juan from the hotel. The room was very clean and all of the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly. Our window view was great! The pool was on the top floor and was a little crowded but we got a chance to enjoy it and the hot tub.

Couple of issues: 1. Arrived at noon - checkin was 4pm…repeatedly told working on our room …checked in at 330 finally…. Not the best first impression - maybe HSK works on island time. 2. 1115 on Monday - Hsk staff(male) entered room to replenish shower soap - DIDNT knock and wooden sign was showing do not enter equivalent. This is unsafe…Pool small but comfortable - great view…on site restaurants ok …

Waited 2 hours after check in. When they called for room it came up as spam and no message was left. We just happen to be around the corner so stopped in to see if it was their call and it was. They did give us 2 free continental breakfasts and $21 food & drink credit. Went for breakfast and there were at least 10 people in line ahead of us. We were told at least 20 minute wait. We had already been in line 10 minutes. As we stood there we saw 8 empty tables. When we asked about the empty tables we were told \"we are making a wait list\". The night before we just want to relax and have a drink so we went to the bar on the second floor and were seated on the patio. After being ignored for 15 minutes we left. We went to bar downstairs they were much more friendly and entertaining. Hot tub did not work which sucked after a 10 hour plane ride. Talked to other guest and everyone we spoke to were all disappointed with the waits and service. It was very heartbreaking to hear an elderly couple trying to check in at 6 pm and being told their room was not ready. They visible looked exhausted. That is not right on so many levels. Check in is at 4 pm. You need to make sure rooms are ready. There were plenty of employees standing around maybe cross training would be beneficial to get rooms clean. We are avid NCL cruisers and are on many NCL Facebook pages where we share our experiences and trust me we will be sharing our experience at the hotel.

The room had 2 queen sized beds and a nice bathroom with gorgeous tiles, sink and 2-headed shower. Sadly, it looked directly out on a parking garage. Also, the little coffee maker didn’t work. The AC was too cold and couldn’t be adjusted without the service of an engineer. Extra blankets were not provided and when we asked for some they brought us one (for two beds). Hmm. There was a hefty fee added to the price for the pool and hot tub, which were advertised as amenities. Buffet breakfast was plentiful but not tasty, although the waitresses were extremely accommodating and polite.

AVOID!!! On arrival after flying all day we arrived at 4:00 pm which is room check in time. We noticed the check in line was moving very slowly and there were a lot of people standing with their luggage in the lobby. Once we got to the front of the line we were also notified like the other customers that our room was not ready. They suggested we set in the lobby and wait for a little while and they would call us when the room was good. We sat for an hour and a half before we approached the check in counter for a second time to be told once again our room was not ready. I have never left a bad review on any service that we have used, but I think other travelers should be weary of staying at this property. You are paying 4 star prices and most definitely not getting anywhere near 4 star service. Go elsewhere. We also were charged a resort fee that was not clearly discussed with us. We still did not get into our room until 7pm. We will not suggest this hotel to anyone going forward.

Would not recommend this property or hotel. It’s a two star hotel at best. Housekeeping was a nightmare. Linens and sheets were bad quality. Doors slamming day and night as there are no closers on them. Thin walls and vents so you can hear your neighbors talking or doing other things. Food was all right. Pool is small and only has five seats. Area was not great as it was all cruise ship passengers and you need to walk up into old San Juan. Would not recommend this hotel if you want a relaxing, enjoyable stay. If you want a up at dawn, chaotic, and poor quality experience at a 4-star hotel price this is the place for you.

Over night stay before taking cruise. Very close to port and was able to leave bags in secure storage whilst taking stroll around sea front and waiting for ship boarding. Very friendly staff, good breakfast buffet included. Used by cruise lines.

The whole elevator scanning the key card situation was a disaster for us and most guests we encountered. We stayed for two nights and the second night our a/c stopped working. The staff didn’t care, nor did they try to fix it. The hot tub was not working during our stay
The rooms are, otherwise, nicely appointed. The location cannot be beat. The breakfast is not too expensive and is very good.

It was dated. The rooms have been updated, however the mold in the shower, the horribly cheap scratchy towels. There is no mini bar, and the coffee was bitter. We got in late and there were no options for food or drinks not even snacks for sale. The room was so dark at night that our kids got carry out and no one could see what they were eating.

was beautiful and in a great section of San Juan close to cruise pier. The only thing wrong was checkin in was at 4pm and we got there at that time and couldn’t check in till 6pm. They then gave us a $21. refit to use at the hotel which we were leaving next day on a cruise

We stayed for 2 nights with our 1.5 year old. We rented a junior suite to have some extra space for him and it worked out really well. Our room was a big C-shape, so we could hang out in the living room on one end during naps/bedtime and it was quiet for him on the other end.

Hotel property was very pretty and it was nice having a pool up top with fun views of the cruises coming in and out.

Staff was all very kind, especially the valets who helped us with our baggage on the first floor.

With an expected 4 pm check in, we arrived at the hotel around 5:30 to find our room was not ready. Our initial conversation with the employee was that they did not know what time our room would be ready and they would call us.
After waiting 2 hours in the bar/restaurant area I went to the front desk and they had our room. No phone call. We finally got to our room at 7:45.
Unacceptable for the amount we paid for this room, or for any hotel.

Check in was frustrating. The check-in time says 4:00 but upon arrival, there was no room ready and we had to wait until close to 6:00pm for check in. It was frustrating after a long day of flying. We offered to take a down-graded room but was told they could not assist us as we booked through a third party, Expedia. They seem to forget that if it weren't for that third-party, Expedia, the room would never have been booked - others on site, who were also waiting, experienced the same. Were made to feel like our business did not matter as we did not book direct.

We arrived at 430pm and was told our room should be ready in an hour. Went to grab some food came back at 830pm and room still was not ready. After another 1/2 hour they gave me a room with 2 beds looking at a building when I had booked a deluxe King Bayview. I was paying $500 per night for this room. They finally gave me a $50 per night discount which was ridiculous. Get to room had not been properly cleaned. When asked for bar of soap at first told they were out, but finally found me one. We had stayed at your property in September and it was a totally different experience with staff, room and every aspect, so I recommended this hotel to the couple traveling with us and then we had this terrible experience. I am also Vice President for National Travel and have recommended your porperty to many clients which I no longer will be doing. I was told you had a change of management recently which I am assuming is responsible for the decline.

Nice stay, excellent location but service is lacking. Perfect location on the waterfront near Old San Juan-close to restaurants, bars and shops-especially good if you are taking a cruise. Breakfast and bar were enjoyable with gracious staff and good selection. Room was clean and comfortable but we had to ask numerous times for shower gel and shampoo, because the wall-mounted bottles in the shower stall were empty. Twice staff brought a bag full of everything BUT shower gel and shampoo. FINALLY on the third day they got it right. Worst part of stay was ordering a taxi the night prior to departure for 5:30 am and it never showed up. At 5:30 am we asked young man outside to check if it was on the way. He seemed unconcerned and said the woman who ordered it the night prior had not conveyed the information. He was more concerned with his cell phone and said he had asked another taxi driver who'd just left to return and pick us up after he dropped off the guests who left just before us. I explained that was 20 min. to the airport with the current passengers, 20 min. back to the hotel, and another 20 min. back to the airport, making us an HOUR late. He didn't seem to see the problem. We managed to find another taxi driver but were extremely anxious about making our 8:30 am flight. Overall, we did not feel that the high price of the rooms ($500-600/night) were reflected in the service provided.
