Staff was very friendly. Happy hour was nice when no events interrupted it. Pool and gym are clean and lovey. Pool bar staff was awesome. Wish my room was cleaned a bit better as bar glasses were not removed. Also had a strange snafu with my bill.

Great location, clean room and lovely rooftop. The glass of welcome bubbly is a really nice touch :) The only downside is that the cleaning products used in the room have a really strong smell, and it wasn't possible to air out the room during our short stay (plus there's no screens on the windows so we didn't want to leave them open at dusk/dawn).

I would recommend this to ANYONE going to San Juan. First of all, location. In Old San Juan, right next to the Cathedral and a block from La Fortaleza, EVERYTHING is within walking distance. Second, it is BEAUTIFUL. The yellow color, the archways, the atrium and open-air restaurant, gorgeous foliage all around. The rooms are lovely too with high ceilings and spacious bathrooms. Third, the rooftop pool and bar is unique and so relaxing. Fourth, sister privileges at the Marriott in Isla Verde, so a quick uber gets you a private beach with free umbrella and chairs - terrific. Finally, free drinks...need I say more? Rose reception everyday from 5 to 5:30, and a free glass of champagne for each guest everyday too! I mean, what?! Right?! The staff was very nice and extremely helpful. We would take this hotel/location any day over the bigger resorts outside of Old San Juan. It made for a perfect vacation, would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Dog urine- No AC

Our room smelled like dog urine. We got our room cleaned many times and the stench would not go away. It is a pet friendly hotel our guess is that pets urinated on the mattresses. Because both the mattress in the room smelled so bad of pet urine. On our secound night the AC unit in the hotel stopped working. You can imagine with Puerto Rico humidity and the smell of dog urine our room was unbearable.

While the staff at this property were lovely, the whole place felt weirdly soulless for a location so filled with rich culture and loads of history.

What was most bothersome, however, is that the rooms just never truly felt clean. Dust on lamps, other folks hair on the floor, and the hotel was weirdly stingy with towels (in a room with two queen beds they gave us one wash cloth).

This hotel is in a great location, but I’m not sure i would stay here again or recommend it to anyone. We were excited to check out and head to a different stay after a few nights.

My experience was a mixed bag

Staff was very attentive. I had dinner at the on-site restaurant. Food was good. But it was odd that vegetables were not included with some of the meals (like snapper and salmon). I would like to have had a vegetable. The pool was nice. Hot tub was just luke warm, though. When I checked out I suggested they get the slow-close springs for the doors because the room doors slam shut. I kept hearing slamming doors throughout the night when I was trying to sleep. If you have a rental car, parking is a challenge in this area. But the few overnight garages have reasonable prices. But plan on walking several blocks any of the garages to the hotel, unless you are lucky and score on-street parking as I did on 1 of my 2 nights there.

We booked two rooms for one week and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The courtyard was a great place to sit and talk and read. The hotel is walking distance to many great restaurants. We enjoyed the rooftop pool and deck. The rooms were comfortable, but a bit dark. We enjoyed the silent movie clips that were projected onto the wall each night (see pic).

The check in processes could have been more thorough, I didn't really get introduced to the facilities at the hotel. Overall, it was a good place but not worth the price- plus at check out they charged me additional money than what Expedia charged me for booking which was very strange.
I wouldn't go back just because of the lack of transparency from the beginning.

My wife and I had an amazing four-night stay at Palacio Provincial San Juan, Curio Collection by Hilton, and it was the perfect blend of luxury and history. The hotel, located in the heart of Old San Juan, combines stunning, Instagram-worthy architecture with modern, comfortable rooms that offer breathtaking views of the city. The service was exceptional, with friendly staff going out of their way to make our stay memorable, and the on-site dining and rooftop bar were highlights, serving delicious Puerto Rican cuisine and cocktails with incredible views. With a prime location close to all the must-see sights and amenities like a rooftop pool and spa, it’s the ideal spot to relax and explore San Juan in style. We can’t wait to come back!

Great location, bring your earplugs!

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The bed was comfortable, air conditioning worked great and the location was perfect for exploring Old San Juan. We were within walking distance of many sights, restaurants, etc. The staff was very nice, though I do think they could be more proactive about telling the benefits of the $55/day resort fee (beach chairs/umbrella at Marriott Courtyard Isla Verde, 2 glasses prosecco daily, free rose from 5 to 530 each day), but they did provide the info when asked and were pleasant and kind overall.

The main downside of this hotel is the noise. Presumably because its an older building, there seems to be no soundproofing. When other guests closed their doors or walked by talking it was extremely loud in our room. There was some street noise but most of the noise came from doors and activity within the building/courtyard itself. The other con of this hotel in my opinion is just the cost. It was a nice hotel but quite pricey during our stay, especially given the noise I mentioned, but you're paying for location and a small rooftop pool and both those things are great! I would consider staying here again if back in Old San Juan but might also consider other options just due to the lack of soundproofing. But if you can sleep with earplugs that's easily remedied!

Nice Property, Not So Nice Place to Sleep

This property has several strengths, these include:

- Walkable to everything in Old San Juan

- The hotel has a very nice courtyard and rooftop bar area

- The staff was generally nice

However, it is not a great property for a good night's sleep:

- Mattress seemed old and slumped in the middle so if you are sleeping with 2 people or not in the middle, you are sleeping at an angle towards the middle of the bed.

- The hotel uses the 'sandbag' pillows that look fluffy but immediately collapse into a solid and uncomfortable thin lump.

- The floors are tile but it looks like they failed to put down a sound barrier between the subfloor and the tile so you can hear even a pin drop in the room above you, and heels or chairs/luggage/etc. moving sound very loud. This is amplified by the high ceilings on the first floor that make every movement in the room above you sound like a car crash.

- The room is a simple rectangle and the bathroom an enclosed closet -like area, separated by a sliding door. Because of its location, the toilet is only 3ish feet from the head of the bed separated by only the sliding door.

We asked after the first night if we could switch rooms but the front desk manager said the hotel was fully booked and they couldn't switch us. However, a quick check of seeing if I could make a reservation for that night online showed that they did have room. Would not book this place again.

For a luxury Hilton property I thought this hotel was below standards; the staff seemed inexperienced and not properly trained in customer service. You were not greeted by the staff when you entered or left the property nor were you asked if you were enjoying your stay or was there anything you needed, which I believe is a standard in hotel hospitality catering to tourists. iIf you asked a question of the front desk staff they were brusque in their responses; the properly is in a densely located part of Old San Juan so guests are going to have logistical questions. Also the rooms were not cleaned until the early evenings so if you arrived back to your room in the afternoon the rooms were not yet made up and your used wet towels and unmade remained from the morning.

This was the last stop in our family Puerto Rico trip having spent 4 days on the eastern coast and 3 days in Culebra. I felt the location was excellent for exploring Old San Juan. The main issue with the hotel was the lack of parking and unfortunately our stay coincided with the beginning of the San Sebastian festival which meant than any parking normally available was non existent!!
Thankfully the manager was able to help us as we were at the point of cancelling our reservation and looking elsewhere after 2 hours of navigating the narrow streets of OSJ.
The hotel, itself, was lovely! The rooms were spacious and beds were amazingly comfortable. The rooftop terrace was great but we only experienced it with our morning coffee. The location was perfect for exploring.
If we were to return, I would definitely consider this hotel again as long as there were no big functions happening to limit the already limited parking.

We asked to move to a different room as soon as we checked in, and told nothing else was available. The overall facility was lovely, but disappointing our room was street level across from noisy bar since we paid $400 USD!!

This is a pretty nice property, but it doesn't really live up to the 9.4 ratings it had at the time we booked (in our opinion). The restaurant and environment at their sister property El Convento is signifcantly nicer. OH, AND DON'T OPT FOR THE FREE BREAKFAST. THAT ISN'T WORTH IT. IT'S JUST ONE SPECIFIC THING YOU CAN ORDER, NOT CHOICES.

The Palacio is a decent adults only hotel in historic Old San Juan. It’s been there a while so it’s pretty old and shows it. While cute, it’s not worth $500 a night. Children were still allowed in the restaurant, the bathroom could be cleaner with the shower door working better, and the noise level inside the room is pretty loud as you can hear the street music a block away. The staff was very accommodating and the beds were super comfortable, though. The rooftop pool and bar were good, if you use them, and the restaurant staff was great, too.

Poorly managed property definitely not upscale.

Not a Curio Collection standard. Lack of customer service and attention to detail.
Check-in was chaotic, the room was not ready by 3pm, zero explanation about the property and amenities. The roof pool area never had towels available. The bed was not comfortable and little details like hangers to dry the towels were missing in the bathroom. A 3 star property priced as a 5 star.

The Palacio, a hotel located in a beautiful historic building, was an excellent choice for our stay in San Juan. Our basic criteria for rating a hotel is simple; bed, shower and location. In all these respects the Palacio excelled. That is not to say it was flawless. The room was relatively loud. You are in the heart of old San Juan after all. If street noise bothers you, request a room on the second floor. The hotel restaurant was mediocre. We experienced rainy days throughout our stay and the restaurant was partially uncovered. That meant splashing water. The intense action of the overhead fans meant that our food was cold almost immediately. These are admittedly small issues and the overall excellence of the staff overcame them. Our plans were continuously changing and the staff assisted us repeatedly. Despite the uncertain weather and our small complaints, we recommend highly.

The pool is so very small, very limited space and limited seating… the pool also closes at 7pm! No late night dips in the pool or hot tub because of the limited hours. The beach is about 20 minutes away at a completely different hotel. You have to get your own transportation to the beach, an Uber was about $10-$15 each way depending on the time of day. They do set up chairs and an umbrella for you but the hotel does not provide a shuttle which is very inconvenient. The service at the hotel restaurant was terrible. The pillows were horrible and we even requested more, but it didn’t help. The a/c didn’t feel very cool in the room and overnight we would break out in a sweat. I would not stay here again.

I was pleasantly surprised by how gorgeous the property was, the images online doesn’t do it justice.
The location was very convenient as my friends and I were able to walk to a lot of stores , restaurants and bars and while feeling absolutely safe.
If you love a mix of modern while paying great homage to historical architecture then Hotel Palacio Provencial is where you want to be.
The staff was amazing , from the restaurant to the rooftop bar , the front desk, all were helpful and so pleasant .
I love the pride that they have for their country and their willingness to Share it with visitors.
I will be back !

This is the first time I stayed in a hotel in Old San Juan. I have been in PR many times, but I always stayed in the Condado area. I had always wanted to spend a couple of days right in the middle of Old San Juan in a colonial building. Palacio Provincial was amazing. Not only the facility was spectacular and in a great location, but the kind of service I received was first class. I wan to thank all staff, and especially the front desk professionals. They are attentive, friendly, and very welcoming. I hope to come back soon. Gracias team!
