I will start by saying this resort is beautiful, open and airy.

We went as a group of 12 and 5 of us came home sick. One of which was hospitalized in the ER with salmonella. You can say, oh it won't happen to us we are careful but so were we and all it takes is a quick google search to confirm we were not alone.

We would have really liked to enjoy each others company and the country since we are all long distance from each other, but unfortunately we were not able due to something we were served.

We got scammed on an excursion, food was atrocious (cats wouldn’t even eat it), everyone was rude, had to pay extra for coronas and decent wine, paid extra for a steak that the waiter couldn’t even cut through, casino was tiny and required multiple currency exchanges if you used the ATM, had a karaoke bar that no one operated, no premium liquors, beach was crowded with kids although it was an adult only resort, and the room was just okay.

9 out of 10, I would say, great cost-benefit. Pool area was awesome, the majority of the staff was great, with a few bartenders being more \"direct\". Food was reaaally good. Loved all the dinner restaurants, and the main buffet was pretty good as well.

This is a nice resort, but far from a \"Luxury\" resort. Rooms and furniture more like a Holiday Inn, nothing comfortable to sit on. Pool was nice and well maintained, but very very noisy at all hours including late at night. There was no quiet area. Staff were excellent. Food was mostly good, but the a la carte restaurants were disappointing. Not much choice, and they rush you through your meal, no time to relax. Best restaurant was M.E.A.T. Rooms and resort were kept very clean. Tried ordering coffee from room service for the next morning, had to call again in the morning and was told they had no record of my request.

This was the first resort I’ve stayed in with out dedicated snack areas. The staff would forget to bring coffee after asking multiple times for breakfast. It was subpar compared to the many others I’ve stayed at. I would highly recommend staying at another resort.

The room was clean and quite nice. The bed was firm but was very comfortable. We slept very well. Our building was close to the pool, so an afternoon nap was difficult, but most people don't do that on vacation. ;-) The staff were awesome at the restaurants' and by the pool. The room was serviced twice a day.

Junior corner suite at Ambar was spacious and comfortable. Pool had plenty of room, didn’t need to be down super early to get a chair. Beach was within walking distance of Ambar. Entertainment team was amazing! Food (restaurants) was absolutely top notch. We had Hibachi, Mongolian, Steak, Italian, even sports bar wings were phenomenal. Loved our stay and would definitely go back.

We had an absolutely amazing experience! The Spa was excellent, so relaxing!! The staff here at every level, are always smiling and so gracious and attentive going the extra mile with little touches that make us feel pampered and made our stay here extra special. The food has been amazing, from start to finish, the service at each restaurant was a qhole experience. The attention to every little detail and the presentation was so beautiful. The Oneiro Show was the icing on the cake of our phenomenal stay here. 10/10 !

Our bed was VERY uncomfortable, we got a mattress topper on night 3, but slept horribly the first 3 nights.

I also slipped in the shower, I reccomend asking for a shower Matt. I am younger so I was okay, but a older person might not have been.

The spa experience was great but overpriced.
Beach and pool good.
Food was marginable. Staff was either very nice and helpful(Maria at the buffet; EXCELLENT), or terrible (Jose-\"butler\"). Paid for \"all-inclusive\" but it was a fight to get a reservation anywhere to eat due to very low staffing. Paid for something we didn't get. Will be pursuing this with Expedia. Jose welcomed us and introduced himself as our butler. Said whatever we need, let him know, and he would take care of it. When he showed us to our room, my wife commented that she really liked Presidente beer. Jose said he would bring up 6 more right away. Failed. He was supposed to make reservations for us at 7pm. He made one but set it for 6:30pm without notifying us. Had I not looked on the app, we would have missed our reservation, and they would have fined us $20. He said he would always be at his \"office\", and showed us where he was. It was almost to the end of our vacation before we saw him there again. We refer to him as \"No way Jose\" because he failed to deliver anything that he promised. Omared was the same way. No follow through and wasted a lot of our time. Jesus was helpful and got us a reservation at the requested time and didn't take all of our time like the others did.
Food at MEAT was bad. 70% fat ribeye, overcooked and soggy asparagus.
Housekeeping failed most of the time. Had to call nearly daily to get towels etc.
Too much dissatisfaction with the place to write here. Will never go back.

Mixed feelings! The property itself is impressively large, with beautiful grounds, nice pools and amenities. From a visual and layout standpoint, the resort makes a strong first impression.
Unfortunately, the food was a major disappointment—especially compared to other all‑inclusive resorts we’ve stayed at. The quality and variety were very lackluster. You can’t just go to the restaurants; reservations are required and reservations through our concierge was extremely challenging, even though the restaurants were often only half full in the evenings. This became a daily frustration and took away from the overall enjoyment of the stay.
The beaches were attractive, but they were extremely crowded.
One of the most disappointing experiences was an excursion we booked through the resort’s Dive Shop located on the beach. We had a group of 12 and paid for a private, captained catamaran. Instead, we were put on a small jon boat and didn’t depart until two hours later than scheduled because they “couldn’t get” the catamaran. The Mgr. of Guest Experience acknowledged the issue and said he would work on getting us a partial refund...unfortunately, we never received that refund. I would strongly caution anyone booking excursions thru the resort. Our room was nice and clean, but this was supposed to be on Bahia Principe’s “Luxury” side, and it did feel luxurious at all. We still managed to have a good time but I can't recommend this resort. There are better all-inclusives for the price.

Upon arrival we were greeted with kindness and care like we were their only customer. We had a quick tour through the property before we were brought to our room. Our luggage was delivered 5 minutes later. We split our pool days up between the pool, beach, and our room. Our room was 60108. In my opinion the best room on the property. If we wanted to be a bit more private, we could lounge on our patio, swim, and the waitresses would take our drink order while we swam in our basically private pool. We had a few favorite workers, our waitresses at the pool, the guy who made omelettes and eggs at Las Breas, and the bar lead at Limbo. Those 3 people not only made us laugh every day but you could tell loved their job. The buffets is a typical buffet, just okay. If you want to eat good, get fruit and have the cook make you something fresh. The a lacart restaurant all were amazing. I didn't eat one thing that I didn't love. Our trip was unfortunately cut short on both ends so we didn't enjoy the full week, but we would 100% come back. Front end, Sun Country sucks so we were a day late and I fell sick and needed to leave a day early. Lastly one negative thing. One day after breakfast we were grabbed by a Privilege Club guy that asked if we received our welcome package and started talking about a free spa voucher which we were going to do anyway. It turned into trying to take us off property and have us join this club. We were not happy. We never went back through there because of this

This is definitely not a 5 star resort compared to other places that my husband and I have visited. The room smelled like mold, the beds were super hard, the staff was very slow moving with pretty much everything. The food was gross and not all liquor and food was actually included as they charge for certain things… will not ever return here and I recommend going to a different resort due to this one just not being worth the money all around.

The staff and resort were top notch. The staff was very helpful, polite, accommodating, supportive, and knowledgeable. The resort was clean, accessible, and safe. The beach was beautiful and clean. The pool and surrounding amenities were clean and accessible when open. The entertainment staff knew how to get good crowd involvement to support the activities they held. The restaurant options were plentiful on Ambar and the rest of the a joining resorts. The food was delicious from each of the restaurants visited.

Resort was beautiful but wife and I got a bacterial infection from something we ate/drank on second day and spent the last 3 days in the hospital/resort room with diarrhea and couldn't eat the rest of our trip. Hospital cost $1300. Had to see a doctor once we returned home. Sickness lasted an entire week. So much for an all inclusive trip...

We only ate at the buffet and Brisas and didn't leave the resort so something there got us sick.

We were with another couple and they were fine and loved everything.

The property is very nice. There was minor maintenance issues with shower in my room, but it were addressed. The food was good. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I would have no problem going back or recommending this property to a friend.

The clientele does skew older, so if that is not what you're looking for, another Bahia property might be a better choice.

The room was very clean, the salad bar options were great and so was the omelette station at the outside breakfast buffet. David entertained while cooking multiple orders at the same time. The pool was nice and active, but we preferred the gorgeous beach. We saw almost no seaweed, the sand was soft and the water was warm and a beautiful turquoise color, especially when the sun hit it. A lot of the staff were very friendly, especially in the outdoor breakfast/lunch restaurant. The restaurants were nice. It was fun to get dressed up, servers good and decorated very nice. The food was hit or miss. One appetizer would be good, the other not so much. One entree really good, the other not good. Overall, we enjoyed the restaurants though. We highly recommend the Luxury Ambar and can’t wait to go back!

All the staff was truly excellent. Ygnacia, he kept my room clean.My bed made at all times. She was such a delight to see every morning with her smile. And her friendly demeanor. Jose, from the sports bar made excellent drink. And also was very friendly. David and Sonia from the buffet restaurant have excellent customer service skills.
Some of my concerns were the prices.And the gift shop, and in the coffee shop. I wanted to buy an after sun lotion that in the gift shop was $35. The same lotion I purchased on Amazon was $12. A souvenir mug I wanted to purchase from your gift shop was $40. Starbucks does not even sell their mugs for $40.

First, let me remind everyone a review is an opinion. I just got back from spending 5 nights at Luxury Ambar with two friends. I'll start with the things we liked. The beach was absolutely amazing. The sand is super soft and the water is amazingly clear. Yes, I know it is busy season. The beach was mega crowded. People were literally within arms reach all around us. We had no problem getting chairs because there were very kind staff members willing to set us up. Yes, we did tip them, which we felt was deserved. The pool is also amazing. It is huge and did not ever feel crowded (in the pool). The pool deck is very busy and packed tightly. The loungers are so close together, it is sometimes difficult to get up and down. The drink service at the pool and on the beach is sporadic. It seems there are not enough servers to handle the number of guests. Not horrible, because you can be patient or walk to the bar. We are not big drinkers, so this was not a problem for me. Strange thing: you cannot get water bottles at pool or on beach. If you request water, it will come in a small cup. You need to bring water bottles from your room. Towels can be limited. You need to give your room number to get towels. If you would like to get dry ones later in the day, they are often gone. The grounds are pretty, but dark in the evening. There are cats, they are rather cute and did not bother us. We had a swim out room. The swim out is lovely, but not private at all. Our

Check in process is a nightmare! Told to come back then waited another 1:45 hr. Pool waitstaff was very great. They saved the trip. Marline at the pool was fabulous. Very difficult to get reservations at not very busy restaurants. Made promises to have reservations. Food was ok, Best bar was the one in the front of hotel. Advertised as luxury talked with other guests that said it has gone downhill. This was my second time. Been to many Hyatt properties. This one especially the front desk did Not live up to the reputation.

The resort is beautiful. Check-in was quick and easy. The lobby bar was awesome for service, drinks, and entertainment. The beach setup is great. Pool is beautiful but can be hard to get chairs. Towel service is excellent. The pool bar was ok but drink quality ranged from pour the drink out to perfect. Our room was very clean. It did not have consistent hot water for shower. Wish the TV was a Smart TV so we could have signed into our apps. Sadly limited TV options due to language barrier. The swim up pool is not worth the extra cost because the water is so cold you cannot swim in it. Room service was excellent!! They kept our room clean and were very responsive to our needs. We had private breakfast in room most mornings and ordered late night dinner once. The food was good quality and served warm. Day activities were good. The breakfast buffet was good but we did not enjoy the lunch or dinner buffet. We ate dinner at MEAT, Limbo and Portafino. They were good overall. If you are a foodie, this may not be the place to stay, but definitely is a place to stay for beauty and relaxation.

Clean rooms. We had fantastic stay on the property. The beach was very clean and luckily swimming in the ocean was allowed even though there were red flags around the neighbouring properties. The white party on the beach was amazing. Friendly staff. The property is quite big and requires pick up and drop off rides which they call train rides. We found the on property transportation a nuisance as there were no sidewalks and have to be watchful. In general the drivers wont stop for pedestrians to cross. There were restrictions to explore and check out other areas.

The staff was PHENOMENAL! We had some experiences that would have been rated lower if the staff hadn't been so friendly and outstanding. For example, the ceiling in our room leaked after a rainfall, so much so that the ceiling fell down. The staff however was very responsive and quick to patch it up.

Next, we were promised by the hotel manager a swim out room that was going to be in the sun. My wife and I were switched after two days, how are we lost the first two days of that amenity. Next, my wife’s AirPods were stolen by the staff. We know this because we were able to track the AirPods to a location near the resort. Security promised they would do everything they could to look into it, however very little was done. They want us to go to the local police, but we all know that nothing would be done by them. Also, when we arrived at the resort, there was a discrepancy in my price that I paid online and with the resort.. the resort promised to do everything they could to remedy this, however, a slight reduction in price was all the did. I didn’t have much of a choice, but to pay it because you were stuck in a Third World country with not much options at the last minute. It was quite disheartening. Lastly, I have significant sand flea bites on my legs. The resort states they treat for this however I would tell you that the past week at the resort and home have been absolutely miserable. I’m now currently being treated by a physician because it’s that significant. So for the price you pay for the resort, buyer beware.

Expedia booked my airport in Santo Domingo which is THREE HOURS from punta cana where my resort was. I had no shuttle service which is typically provided by the resort when you are at the airport of the city in which the resort is located. I was on the phone three times back to back with little to no service for over 2 hours with Expedia and they did not accommodate me what so ever. I missed a whole day of my trip because of this major inconvenience and had to pay over $240 in ride fair to and from my resort to the airport. I will NEVER BOOK with Expedia ever again. Why would you book an airport so far away with no shuttle service. Expedia did not provide any customer assistance for me and my friend whatsoever. This was a horrible birthday trip and experience for me. I wasted so much extra money because Expedia wanted some money and didn’t care how they would get it. No one in their right mind would choose an airport three hours from their resort in a foreign country where they speak little to no English to then pay extra money for rides when a shuttle is typically available with your already paid resort fee. I will only book through my credit portal and or anything website and leave Expedia in the dust and I mean that. They will NEVER see me book a trip, vacation, nor flight with them ever again. This was careless of Expedia and I wasn’t the only one y'all did this to.

This is a separate compliment to the Expedia Staff Punta Cana air port . We had booked Hertz for a car through Delta . To say the least the attendant at Hertz tried to scam us into $200 dollars per day of extra charges. When we cancelled the car their crony referred us to his friend and the shady SOB who put us in a potentially dangerous situation in a dark corner of the airport. Your Expedia staff put an end to that and connected us with their courteous and prompt staff and driver. Next time Expedia all the way.

Overall, we had a nice time. Staff were very friendly around the resort. The entertainment was great around the pool and beach. We really enjoyed the swim up bar and staff there.

Our room was not great. We had a toilet that was clogged when we first got there and they never really fixed it after asking for help. The room was a bit dirty overall. The fridge wasn’t cold for the first half of our stay. The shower water pressure and temperature was very inconsistent. It was interesting having no shower door and completely exposed to the entire room.

The food was underwhelming. We had some decent meals and some bad meals. However we did love the MEAT steakhouse food! The seafood market was not good and had hardly any options.

The check in and out process was unclear and there was hardly any communication with what to do with our luggage, how to get around the resort, the rules and policies of the resort, etc. We had to figure out ourselves how to book restaurant reservations, what the hours of the pool was, how to find different places within the resort, etc. We were never actually given any information on what they offered.

Our shuttle was booked thru the resort (Amstar third party.) The initial shuttle being picked up from the airport was random and very scary getting there. The driver was off-roading and swerving crazily thru traffic. It felt very unsafe. The shuttle leaving, to go back to the airport, was much better and more official/safer.

Inconsistent experience.

The room was very clean and super comfortable We had a corner suite near the lobby and it was also much larger than we expected
AC was challenging but because of the first floor and the ceiling fan we were comfortable
The room cleaning staff Tonya especially was excellent and did a great job
Almost all the staff were friendly and accommodating shout out to the gal at the lobby restaurant, forgot her name but had orange frizzy hair and of course the towel guy, older gent was super friendly
All the restaurants were excellent and I recommend trying them all
The only thing to take note was making reservations ahead of time… often the online reservations said they were all full but when we arrived at our allotted time every restaurant was half empty. Be prepared for them upselling beverages… The wine and champagne included weren’t very good
The pools and the beach were outstanding and the entertainment staff were a lot of fun and kept everyone entertained day and night
It would have been much more helpful if there were more used beach/towel drops spread out. There was only one central towel stand and a lot of people just left towels on there chairs especially on the beach without returning them
Overall we loved it and would come back again

Hello–

My name is Kayla Simon and me and my friend Darien Best stayed at Bahia Principe Ambar in Punta Cana from 1/8/2026 to 1/11/2026. I would also like to mention we both stayed at the Bahia Principe in Tulum July 2025, with Bahia Principe as our go to resort as we like to travel a lot, unfortunately this last time left us both extremely disappointed.

First, when we arrived it was my birthday, so I decided to upgrade our room to a swim up pool. I paid an extra $210 for the upgrade. Upon arriving to the room our room key wasn’t working, ultimately the door lock needed to be replaced. We had to spend at minimum 3 hours of our vacation unable to leave our room, and having to just sit there and watch them fix the door because the door was wide open between waiting for employees to find parts and fix it. By the time the problem was fixed the sun was down and the pool was closed, we even almost missed our dinner reservation as we were unable to shower or change because again, there was someone in our room or the door was wide open as we waited for the employees to get back with the correct parts. After it was fixed, we still needed to find someone to let us into our room the remainder of the night until they were able to reprogram our bracelets. This situation was extremely disappointing and ultimately caused us to waste an entire day of our vacation, let alone the day of my birthday. I couldn’t get dressed and ready to celebrate as I wanted to, I wasn’t able to use the pool,

Room was clean and comfortable. Most staff was a pleasure. If you have even the slightest mobility issue, please make sure you alert the front desk. There are no elevators and we were on the 3rd floor. I had knee surgery 2 months ago and stairs are still a little difficult. I did not, however, ask for a different room as we were traveling with another couple and our rooms were next to each other.

The staff has such bad attitude. They act as if they are doing you a favor for being there and you are a burden to them. It’s such a deterrent. Everything is complicated even telling you where you can get towels. The food is like eating at any local buffet. Nasty like the service. I am not a buffet person nor an all inclusive traveler and I can tell you the food is as good as eating at your elementary school cafeteria. The alcohol is very poor quality and every time you ask them for something like any drink, it can never be made, they don’t have or you just get ignored and I speak fluent Spanish. It was my first time in DR. I have heard a lot about the DR and willing to give it a second try but never at this hotel. Spend a bit more and don’t live this third world experience. I don’t live in a trailer park and don’t like the “fat, lazy American mentality and give them anything because they just stuff themselves mentality”. I refuse places like this. Less than one star if possible.
