The Blue Chairs has an outstanding staff, they were friendly, helpful and always there to make your stay that much more comfortable.
On 22 Feb 2026, we got stuck in Mexico for an extra week. The Blue Chairs manager told us that they would take care of us, and that is what they did. They kept us safe and allowed us to extend our stay at a reasonable cost.
Thank you, Blue Chairs. We will be booking our stay with you again for 2027.

While staff were very friendly and helpful, the property has seen better days.

The issues were not overwhelming but annoying.

On two days, there was no water coming out of the hot water tap for the shower.

Even when the hot water came back on, one had to let the water run for some time before it became hot enough.

Equally problematic was the fact, you could not adjust the water to a comfortable temperature, it was either hot or cold.

The handle to the balcony door kept coming off in my hand so I had to reattach it.

Although WI-FI was advertised as being available, it was quite spotty in my room; the only reliable access point was in the lobby.

The elevator wasn't working for a period of time.

At the restuarant across the street, the waiter did not want to split a bill between myself and a friend who was also staying at Blue Chairs. I found this a bit much since the establishment clearly had up to date billing equipment. We stood our ground and somehow, our bill could be split in two.

As mentioned earlier, the staff did their best and whenever a problem was brought their attention, they did their best to resolve.

In any case, I won't be returning to this lodging.

The room was NOTHING like the picture advertised on hotels.com and the “upgraded” room that the app states was “ocean view” looked directly into the window of the building next to it. No safe or refrigerator. First and last time. Definitely a miss for the amount of money I spent.

I have stayed at blue chairs for 9 years in a row. Because of the experience I had with Mario, the suupposivily manager, I will never stay there again. This location was always the choice for my annual vacation based on location. Yes the hotel is older, so I’ve come to accept it. With this trip, I was alone this year, wasn’t comfortable with maid service, so I used the do not disturb for 8 days. First night the AC unit was dripping, so with acceptance, I just put a towel down and also a towel to whip my feet off from the balcony. This is apparently where Mario informed me that I should wash my feet better every night before getting into the bed. So apparently, at check out, where I’ve never had issues, the young lady asked me to hold on please. Then came back and said I needed to pay a fee for extra washing. I explained about the balcony being dirty and the dropping AC unit. She called her manager over, Mario. He said they have to charge me as they need to do extra washing. I told him this was not my fault as the balcony is cover with dirt/sand and pigeon droppings. I had to whip my feet every time I went out and in then even to shower clean them. He said I should have washed them better. I said are you serious and also it’s a beach town, cobblestone, and flip flops. I said I’ve never been treated like this in 9 years, he walked away and said you’ll come back! Actually I won’t be coming back and I’ll be taking this as far as I can. NEVER AGAIN BECAUSE OF MARIO!

Rooftop staff were amazing and entertainment was fun. The beach club was well serviced.
We had no beach view, although Expedia indicates we should have had one. Swimming pools were empty so no \"vibe\" at the hotel. The cleaning of our room was not so good...washrooms had dirt or mold, especially the shower doors.

The hotel requires major renovations but can't beat the beachfront location. They play loud music until late so highly recommend taking noise-cancelling plugs for quality sleep.

Hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating to individual needs, however, we had to stay in a different room than what we paid for and the front desk did not mention this during checkout assuming that we are completely blind to finding out we were being setup in a much smaller and nominal room than what we paid for. We had to spend 2 nights outside our Master Suite which didn't have air conditioning.

When asked for refund or credit/adjustment since we didn't have our room ready for 2 nights, the staff denied all responsibility. Not sure if we would book this again as this experience left a very sour taste.

This was our second stay at Blue Chairs Hotel and I must say a much better visit then last year
Check in was smooth and friendly. Our room was exactly what we reserved. All the amenities were working. All the pools were clean and maintained.
The best part of our stay was the food at tbe restaurant and bar... and the staff, they treated us well and were always friendly even during the Cartel events.
We will definitely be back again !

I was staying 19 days,when i got to my room,no refrigerator, no safe, no phone . Opened the curtain i looked directly at a wall . I complained, the next day they showed me a room on the 2nd floor . It had a glimpse of the ocean, it looked into the place next door living room . I wanted to swim in the pool.noway disgusting. After 9 days they finally cleaned it...11 times i had to go to the hotel desk,because the door card wouldn't open the door..it cost me 375.00 to change rooms .with still no phone ,fridge,or sasasafe.

The advertisement didn’t say it was a gay men’s
Hotel. The room was bare minimum. There was extremely loud music playing all day and evening. The staff however was very nice.

The room was clean and the staff were wonderful. There were multiple issues with the condition of the room. The sink drainage system was broken, and when we used the sink water got all over the floor, the lock on the door to the balcony was broken, and we could not secure our room, the handle on the sink faucet broke while we were there. There were dishes to use in the kitchen, but there was no paper towels or even a dry towel to dry them on.
They were timely about fixing the leaking sink and about fixing the lock on the balcony door.

Toilet wouldnt flush unless u held down button and flush three times. hard to regulate water temp in shower. everything needs a good scrub and clean off the over sprayed paint

The hotel is somewhat dated and could benefit from some repairs and updates. I would recommend reading the reviews beforehand and setting expectations accordingly. That said, it wasn’t as bad as some of the more negative reviews suggest — but with so many newer options available now, I would likely consider other properties on a future visit.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and overall very pleasant throughout my stay. The beach area is fantastic, and Luis (1) in particular was a highlight — exceptional service and a warm presence.

Security, however, was a concern for me. The property feels very open, and it seemed that anyone could walk in without much screening. While some travelers may appreciate the relaxed atmosphere compared to more restrictive hotels, I personally found it uncomfortable.

What I found most disappointing was the presence of massage solicitations and drug dealers near the hotel entrance. This created an uneasy environment and ultimately is the primary reason I would hesitate to stay here again.

Overall, not a terrible experience, but likely not my first choice next time given the alternatives available.

I found that the room fridge was broken. The stove was broken. The TV didn’t work. I didn’t have any utensils so I had to keep calling the front desk and I was embarrassed, but these are things that should’ve been working before I got there. The pool was dirty and I found the hotel bar restaurant on the beach that they own I couldn’t get a front row seat because they’re all taken and the guy that was serving kept saying they’re reserved, but they only reserve them for groups, not individuals so if you’re an individual, you gotta go sit way in the back you can’t even see the beach which I find is really unfair. They’re only doing that because they want to make the most profit the other thing that really upset me is, I went paid for my drinks when I left the beach went up to my room and then when I came back, the waiter came up to me and said gave me my bill and I said well already paid for it and he said no you didn’t. I said yes I did. I already paid for it so there was like an argument that happened that I didn’t even understand because there was a couple of them talking in their language and I didn’t understand what they were saying so I finally found a boss, and I said to them I already paid and then the boss talked to the employees and straightened it out, but I was so embarrassed then I found out some older guys that come there a lot and give them a lot of business they would get drunk, but they kept bringing buckets of beer they didn’t askfor

Room was not an ocean view we booked, it was a pool view. Rooms were dirty, have not been maintained. All the molding was filthy, chipped and cracked. Floors were dirty and chipped. No phone in rooms house keeping was ok at best, had to ask for face towels several times. The pool was extremely cloudy and you couldn’t see the bottom, no one worked on it for days. Once they did it took several days to get almost clear only to have it clouded again. TV didn’t work, coffee maker didn’t have any filters and neither did the resort or any local store. Had I read any of the reviews I found once we arrived I wouldn’t have booked this property. The pictures of the resort must have been taken when it was brand new, everything about the hotel is old, outdated and not maintained.

The staff was very nice and the location is convenient. my room was spacious. But the toilet did not work properly, there was a big roach when I woke up, there was no toilet paper holder, the AC in one of my two rooms was running but did not cool down the room, and the hotel is overall run down.

i went there years ago and it seemed slightly better in my memory. There was a black out in the neighborhood the first night and the neighboring hotel generator was so loud that it was impossible to sleep. Plus no water and no electricity. The next day the receptionist wasn't really sympathetic. The following night I was unable to turn on the A/C at night. Same the receptionist couldn't do anything about it and didn't seem to care.

The Hotel staff provided amazing and friendly service. Spectacular views of the ocean and fun events happening close by. The basic room we stayed in wasn't in the best shape (some rust on the shower head, water damage above the toilet etc) and lacked some amenities (no safe in room but available at the front desk and no fridge )but was clean and well supplied. I'd stay here again but opt for a room with a kitchen and ocean view for future stays.

We had an incredible stay at Blue Chairs! The all-adults environment was exactly the vibe we were looking for—a quaint Mexican oasis that felt so peaceful to return to after a busy day exploring the Malecón.

What truly sets this place apart, though, is the service. The staff made us feel like family from day one. A huge thank you to Aldo, Abraham, Miguel, and Antonio, who took such amazing care of us on the beach—they really made our trip special. Even when we ran into a hiccup with a lost room key, the team handled it professionally and had everything resolved by the end of our stay.

Plus, a major bonus for anyone needing to stay connected: the Wi-Fi was perfect with zero issues throughout our visit. I would give this place 5 stars and will definitely be recommending it to anyone headed to Puerto Vallarta!

Location is great on the beach. Hot water works great. Penthouse room was OK; had refrigerator and microwave, no phone. No utensils, plates or glasses so I had to buy those, annoying. Room condition Average.They charge 1000 pesos per visitor after the first visitor including those not staying overnight, no matter how long your stay; I was there nine days and was not about to pay like that. For the low price and location it was good; on an absolute scale it was average.

However, the room amenities were extremely limited. There was no coffee maker, no bottled water, no ice, no refrigerator, no microwave, no facial tissues, no safe, and no cups. It genuinely felt like I had to ration basic supplies such as toilet paper and shampoo. There were no extras provided at all — just a bare room.

The hotel advertises itself as LGBTQ-friendly, which is great. That said, nearly all of the brochures, events, and excursion information provided were exclusively geared toward gay couples. As a result, the inclusivity felt one-sided rather than welcoming to all guests.

The sea view was not as described & pictured publicly. That was upsetting walking in. The Sea view is part of the experience. No phone in room to reach the front desk. At front desk, we constantly complained about basic needs. No chair in the room next to the desk. (got much later). The damaged desk was appalling to see. Every day, AND several times a day, complained about the lack of different types of towels, toilet paper, shampoo. On the first couple of days, did not even change the pillowcases. Rarely was the floor cleaned, upsetting. Shower curtain rack was weak and fell. Took a day to fix. Then suddenly the towel bar disappears! Who would take a towel bar? Several complaints & days later, had to force them to put one on again. The Wi-Fi was horrible. The amount of time we spent complaining at the front desk about these & other things, took time and energy away from the trip. This was the most disheartening. And soured our view of beautiful PV. Customer service was the worst in the world. Every single customer service rep was beneath any standards of care. Salvador was good at pretending to help you. A smooth talker. Only with constant nagging, did he do the basic things we asked. Enrique was asked to do basic things, several times. Nothing. We just saw him eating at the desk. Aldo did not do anything we asked & also Victor & Rebeca. Only Francisco delivered good customer service. But, he is the Security Guard! Execs don’t care. PV regulars were shocked about all this!

If your into the LGBTQ this place might be for you. No mention of this on the Expedia web site.

After two days i finally got a fridge, it wasn't much bigger than a microwave. I asked for a coffee pot and twice they said they would bring me one in 10 min. but it never showed up.
Best thing i can say about this place is the internet was good.

We stayed for two nights in early December. There were a few positives: the front desk staff at check-in were friendly, the beachfront location is excellent, and the neighbourhood was relatively quiet during the daytime.
Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives. We expected some noise due to the Romantic Zone location, but we were not informed that there is a rooftop bar directly above the guest rooms. This was not disclosed on the Expedia listing and resulted in much more noise than anticipated.
We were also surprised by an undisclosed fee to use the beach lounge chairs. Upon arrival, we were told it would cost 500 pesos per person, per day just to sit in the chairs. This was not mentioned prior to booking. We had to spend time negotiating this and ultimately had to pay, which took away from our stay.
The room was very basic and in need of updates. The balcony was dirty and appeared not to have been cleaned properly. The bathroom ceiling had visible mildew, and privacy was an issue as the neighbouring balcony looked directly into our room.
Cleanliness in common areas was concerning. On our first morning, there was vomit on the wall and carpet inside the elevator. It remained there for several hours and was not fully cleaned until later that evening, with residue still left on the wall.
While the location and initial staff interaction were positives, the lack of transparency, unexpected fees, noise, and cleanliness issues made this a disappointing stay

After paying over for 4 nights in the Penthouse Paradise, I experienced unacceptable service failures at Blue Chairs Beachfront Resort during New Year's 2025-2026.
Pre-Arrival: Despite booking a month in advance, the hotel refused any refund or credit when I tried to cancel the next day for financial reasons. Even with Expedia's help, they wouldn't budge. This rigid policy forced me to rearrange finances and proceed.
Major Issues:

Dec 31 (NYE): Complete water outage 9AM-7PM. Staff lied about \"citywide water issues\" - I showered at a beach club two buildings away that had water
Dec 31: Electricity failed at noon, forcing us to climb stairs to the 9th floor repeatedly
Jan 1: Another water outage for several hours
One bathroom had no hot water on arrival

Worst Part - Zero Hospitality:
During 10+ hours without water/electricity on NYE, management provided:

No water bottles
No meal/drink credits
No room credit
Staff told us to \"buy our own water\"
No acknowledgment of ruined holiday

Bottom Line:
Infrastructure can fail, but the combination of multiple outages during peak holiday, dishonesty about causes, and complete absence of guest service recovery is inexcusable at this price point. The inflexible cancellation policy that trapped us into this experience makes it worse.

The room was clean and had a spectacular view. It was definitely dated and could use some upgrades but all in all very comfortable.
The staff was friendly and the location was great. The main downfall was that the music from the bar/beach/hotel next door was very loud. Also, beach chairs were included but you could not sit close to the water unless you were a big spender and they reserved the first three rows for \"VIPs\". That was very annoying so we ended up renting chairs from the vendors next to our resort.

Had a good stay. No frills hotel but was comfortable and glad they provided shampoo and body wash. Aldo at the front desk was very helpful although the rest of the staff wasn’t as friendly as him. I love that they are so close to the beach. The blue chairs umbrellas beach wait staff was nice and friendly and the drinks (mojitos, pina coladas, blended margaritas) were all well-made and tasty, but you need to make a reservation the day before if you want seats closer to the water. I scheduled a professional massage with Lucas who did a great job and has awesome technique and well worth the cost. I’ve stayed here before and would stay again for its location and cost. Glad they are mostly LGBTQ+ but I did see a lot of other couples as well.

I do have to say our maid, Kimberly did a FANTASTIC job with our room. We were here for 2 weeks and she didn't skip a beat. I was surprised the hotel was not more accommodating, friendly and helpful. Our AC unit in our bedroom was not working and we asked numerous times for them to fix it and they never did. For us paying for the \"penthouse suit\" for two weeks, I would have thought they would have been more helpful. We asked for a late check out because our flight left at 5 pm and they would not give me an answer. The restaurant that is apart of their hotel had amazing waiters with the exception of one of them. We asked about getting a chair by the ocean and were told no because they had high priority people to take care of. We went down to the Tropicana where Alexis was the THE BEST!!

The room was clean and spacious, housekeeping did a great job daily with the exception of one day they took towels but forgot to bring any back. We did have the key stop working one time but wasn’t a big deal. Overall the hotel is showing some age but the staff were all excellent that we encountered and eager to help the customers. Definitely also recommend getting a massage from Luca’s, he does a great job. Overall very satisfied but would rate higher with some updates.

The pictures from online don't
compare to the rooms im person. Verything is outdated or not working. I first had small room with 2 beds with a partial view if the ocean. The room had some issues with it like stains and holes in the curtains, stains on the sheets, termite damage around the bathroom door. I was able to talk to the hotel manager Daniel and was able to upgrade me to a Jr suite with 2 bedrooms with a great view of the ocean for an additional price for the room. Of course the suite was outdated like the rest of the Hotel. The water pressure in the main bathroom wasn't working properly. The toilet wouldn't flush very well and the shower didn't work well. Overall the Hotel was outdated and needs lot's of work.

The Hotel manger was super nice among everyone else who helped out with the issue's. I wouldn't recommend on staying there unless you don't care about the hotel falling apart and want to stay at a cheap outdated hotel.

I would spend a little more money and stay somewhere nicer.

I don’t usually leave reviews and I travel very often. This is my third time staying at Blue Chairs. I remember my first visit I read the reviews AFTER booking…. I was actually scared to arrive unsure of what to expect due to negative reviews that some people leave. This visit while enjoying some beautiful beach time and sun, I overheard one patron complaining, being so negative and loudly mentioning how badly he couldn’t wait to write his negative review which encouraged me-to leave this one.

The staff are so kind despite the behaviours they are met with daily by uncultured and rude “travellers”.
I have never had any issues with the rooms, they are always so clean, safe and air conditioning/balconies always working for me. You literally can walk to the beach, steps from your room and have a chair, beach and great service within metres of your room.

Just remember before reading all the reviews that some of these monsters trolling one of the oldest and original LGBTQ+ businesses that we actually have left in our continent and people you may not want to even be sitting next to on the beach or heaven forbid travel with may be the ones writing that review….

Take it with a grain of salt sometimes and what you go looking for you will find in PVR!!! A magical place!!

Over all, no complaints but the 2 issues i had personality were the bathroom had 1 light, a tiny spot light in an alcove that pointed straight down in front of the mirror, it was impossible to shave, you just couldnt see ( no window or vent either) The other issue was the rooftop bar had shows every night and all day Sunday, the sound filled the entire open-air concept building ( i like my naps between dinnner and nightlife)

We were in a \"breezy blue junior suite\" which was a good size & had a kitchen, but no in room safe. The dining table was very carved but missing the glasstop surface so spilling was a constant issue. The room was a bit tired and the bathroom was cramped & tiny.
The view was fantastic, but difficult to enjoy from our balcony because of the unrelenting pounding disco music from the Beach Club just below & left of the hotel from about 8:00am to 10:30pm.
Actually couldn't even have our balcony doors open the music was so LOUD!!! So much so we cancelled our return stay.

The room was not like the pictures on the website. Kitchenette cabinetry old and deteriorating. Only coffee maker was a two cup with a carafe that didn't fit. One bathroom toilet did not fill properly. The entire hotel is rundown, the pool was cold and other mini pool was very murky. The one upside is the beach club clean, maintained, and beach service. Staff was great except few spoke english so getting them to understand requests required google translate.

Hello, we think the major problem is the service staff, i mean the servers from both the beach area and the rooftop area. They are just money driven, we were one day at the blue chairs beach area and the server was rude and gritty. The last time we went upstairs they told us to pay while we were enjoying the drag show and we were surprised by it. We payed we left to a another place to spend our pesos. Aldo we mostly spent our beach time at the green chairs next door, polite and nice servers over there.

This hotel is located right on the beach in the romantic zone, and it is an adults only which is nice, its in the older part of PV, but the hotel is quite run down and the images that they use to advertise the rooms on their website and the ones that Expedia uses are false to what they represent.

The breezy Jr suite we had was in poor condition, the room looked like it had just been painted but poorly, paint splotches everywhere, paint over spray on the cabinets and side table, paint blobs all over the windows, the balcony and chairs were constantly covered in Pigeon poop so didnt use, the doors and locks on the door were janky and the deadbolt hardly latched closed, gaps around the door let all the noise in. The bathroom I don't even want to get into.

There was really no place to store your clothes so you are living out of your suitcase, the TV in the room was missing the TV remote and when I inquired about it over 4 times nothing was done to rectify the situation, each time i asked I was told we will look into that and nothing ever happened, one even said that they will notify management and no-one ever contacted me to give me an update.

Roof top bar is quite loud until 10-11pm each night with shows.

The hotel is about a 15-20 min walk to the DT area as there are not many options to eat other than the beach front resort they offer, which wasn't great.

Cost wise, I'd look elsewhere for accommodations.

The good: A/C was POWERFUL! I never felt hot. Also, WiFi was over 100mbps; so great, great signal, especially for Mexico. Location is amazing being right across the beach. One can drink the water out of the faucet. Most employees are very nice, but not many speak English. Having a translator app on my phone proved incredibly useful.

The bad: one isn’t allowed to bring guests to hotel room unless one pays a fee. I’m talking even friends for a few hours, not staying the night. The room, although spacious, was a little run down. About 1/2 the recessed were out. There’s a “kitchen” but it isn’t supposed to be used. So hotel provided ZERO plates, forks, etc. I did have 2 coffee cups and a coffee maker. Since the hotel has a bar, it’s loud between…7PM-12AM. No one is at the bar, but the music is pumping.

Conclusion: would I stay here again? It wouldn’t be my first choice, but…never say never.

Super friendly staff love that it’s LGBTQ+ friendly. I visited with a group of friends and it was clean, and nothing super fancy but nice. The ocean view room was an amazing view. Close to the Malecon, shops, bars, restaurants and more. I dive and I had to walk 40 minutes to the dive shop, so that was a bit far but the diving was incredible! Went to Los Arcos and it was the best diving experience I have had in Mexico so far. I recommend this hotel.

After traveling from the states, I just wanted to relax. But everything about this place is just horrible. The two women at check-in was very dry and unaccommodating. The trans women was all attitude and Rebecca was just rude. I was only allowed one key, and I was checking in with my friend. The tv didn’t work, I wasn’t there to watch tv, but it would have been a little distraction. The internet didn’t work, you have to come downstairs to lobby to get internet. I would NEVER recommend this place to my friends. This hotel almost ruin my vacation. Thank goodness I have friends and place to go and see! Do not book this hotel, you will be disappointed.

T.V wasn’t working, no iron in room and when requested one it was never brought to me. Pool was dirty so I didn’t get a chance to use it. Room and bathroom are very small, door to bathroom was hard to close and open. Pictures online are from a long time ago and they need to update them with current ones Will never stay there again and do not recommend it.

Do not stay here, they love to scam tourist. They nearly double the price of my stay with fees. The hotel is run down and looks nothing like its pictures. Also expect to be scammed in strong armed into payong. Basically double the costs with undiclosed fees and can not get any refund to go to another hotel. I wish I could give them more engative reviews. Ruined my vacation and put us way over budget, almost double thanks to this shady hotel. Worse stay of my life!!!! Also the view I paid extra for was terrible!!!! This entire hotel is a scam!!!
