Super friendly. Homey rooms with colored linens making it feel like a home away from home. Owners are animal lovers and very welcoming to responsible animal owners. I love the Cypress Tree Motel. I think this was my 3rd time visiting. I love the fact that it's got its own identity, it's not part of a huge chain, it's quirky, cozy, and in a great location. The staff is super nice and welcoming. It's not fancy, but it's a safe place to stay while visiting the cute seaside town of Cayucos. The beach is across the street, all Cayucos restaurants and coffee shops are within walking distance. I'll keep coming back, for sure.

This property is a hidden gem. Affordable, clean, plenty of parking and a block away from the beach.

It was spacious for the two of us and the bathroom was huge!

This will now be our hotel of choice when we travel down to Paso Robles/Cayucas area..

Notable: Check-in was a breeze and the owner was very nice. She recommended the Sea Shanty Restaurant for dinner and it didn't disappoint. The towels were high quality, very soft. Bed was a little soft for my fiancé but I slept like a baby. They had a coffee maker and refrigerator (which we was very impressed with how cold it keep our drinks, we even got ice-cream for a late night snack and the freezer kept it frozen.

I am no stranger to low key motel stays, and Cypress Motel is cute and has a great location. However, touting that the motel has gone through a full remodel, I expected better than I experienced. Let's start with the room doors- they're still original, and because of the salt air they stick, REALLY stick, I could barely get mine open. There was no AC, also no hot water in the evening when I wanted a shower, and the wi-fi did not work. I feel like these are pretty basic requirements for motels and hotels these days, and given the price they charge during high season they could do better.

Room was fairly comfortable, very clean, but overpriced. On the day I left, the key would not turn in the door in the direction needed to lock the door. I could lock it from the inside but not the outside. Check in was very easy and the front desk was very helpful.

This was a good place to stop for the night. A funky little motel that serves its purpose. The proprietor was great, with our late check in.
I reminded my partner that we need to remember to bring our own pillows on our road trips. The pillows were Max 1 inch thick. All in all it was a good stay.

The office was very accommodating from the very beginning. Which was most appreciated. The parking was easy and right by the door of our room. This was such a great find for a last minute birthday trip! Can't beat the location! My coffee wasn't even cold from motel to beach waves! The staff was so friendly! Older hotel, but perfectly solid! The walls are a bit thin, and the tv a bit old, but the surroundings don't keep you in your room! Didnt take advantage of the bbq set-up and fire pit, but definitely will the next time! Great for our family of 4. The room even had a separate bedroom! Perfect!

My check out on the app was 12 noon the property owner told me 11am. I showed her the app and she said 11am because they had full reservations over the weekend. And she needed more time to prepare for the other guests. So my stay was less important so I was being made to leave and hour earlier than what was on the app which I had booked. We won't stay here again.

Small property, so you get to speak with the owners (who are also the housekeeping and maintenance staff). Owners were very friendly and accommodating (early check in). Location is walking distance to beach/pier/shops. Will stay here again when I'm in the area.

A charming mid-century motor court perfectly situated in the heart of Cayucos, just steps from wonderful restaurants and boutiques. 

Lovingly renovated yet retaining all its magic, it harkens back to an easier time with a slower pace, reminiscent of some of the classic motor lodges on the Mother Road. Each of the twelve rooms has been designed with a unique theme. 

There is a well appointed community barbecue area under a sprawling cypress tree with lounge chairs and a wood fire pit, perfect for winding down and catching the sunset with a cold drink after a long drive.

Our hosts Ellen and Mike were extremely personable and attentive to make our stay very enjoyable. 

We had a outstanding experience at The Cyress Tree Motel, providing exactly what we look for in a motel: clean, comfortable and affordable. This gem is our new go-to on the Central Coast.

We had a great stay at Cypress Tree Motel. It’s a very quaint, interesting motel. Ellen the owner was very nice and accommodating. There’s a little park area in front where you can sit at tables and chairs and visit with other guests. We stayed in room # 5 ( Route 66). The whole inside of the room was themed(decorated) from the 50’s and 60’s. Very nostalgic for us. Best of all; the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We will stay here again. Decent Stay for a Night — Basic but Friendly

This is a no-frills property that covers the essentials — there’s a microwave, a fridge, and a small TV. The motel is older, so be aware that the walls are quite thin. We could clearly hear heavy footsteps from the room above us late at night, which was a bit frustrating.

That said, we only stayed for one night with family, and overall, it was okay. The owners were very friendly, attentive, and helpful with any questions we had. If you’re just looking for a simple place to rest for a night and don’t mind the quirks of an older building, this could work.

One suggestion: I hope they can upgrade the mattresses in the future — ours felt quite worn, and I woke up with some back pain. A memory foam option would make a big difference.

Our experience here was not what we expected at all.. no wifi, heater only sometimes worked, the conditions of the beds were horrid!!!! So uncomfortable we almost checked out but already spent so much money. There’s no ice machines around, No room between furniture, very cramped. Too make it worse, the other guests that were visiting were sitting in the community area using strong profanity such as the “N” Word when my children were present also bi-racial. This was an experience my husband and I will remember for the worse

This motel is a great slice of Americana! If you need luxury accommodations, this is not for you. But if you like a little nostalgia or you’re onto getting off the beaten path, this place is great!

The staff is friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, albeit small. Walking into the room, I was reminded of so many road trips my family took when I was a kid in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s.

I’ve traveled extensively for business over the years and it’s easy to walk into a chain hotel’s lobby and not know if you’re in Boston or Chicago or LA. So, over the years, I’ve sought out places like this because they’re different.

I’ll definitely be back.

I had a terrific stay at Cypress Tree Motel. Each room had its own unique theme (I was In the Wild, Wild, West room), which was a fun twist. In the evening, the Motel hosted a bonfire for the guests, which provided a nice opportunity to meet some friendly faces. Additionally, the Motel is a short walk away from a public access point to the beach. I'll come back again!

I've been lucky enough to travel up and down this coast many times over the last 25 years and I've seen Pismo, Avila, and the rest succumb to the gentrification process. Cayucos retains a little bit of the surf bum, hippy vibe and this hotel epitomises that ethos. It's not fancy. It's economical, friendly, and has all the things you need. If you want luxury, go elsewhere. If you want to spend your cash on your daily activities and sleep in a homely environment, this place will do nicely.

Cute Motor Lodge in Cayucos

I stayed here for two nights in July and had a great stay. The staff was super friendly and the room was clean. I paid about $100 a night and I felt like it was a good price for what the hotel is. I would happily stay here again!

The only advice I have is there isn't a fan in the room, so if you're like me and enjoy air movement/noise while you sleep bring your own, but there's plenty of electric plugs to use. :)
