The building is older and the room could use a fresh coat of paint with updated carpet. We could not get the heater to work and the refrigerator was super loud and kept waking us through the night. Staff friendly. Breakfast was minimal and not appealing. Good location to downtown. Mattress was old and too soft.

Staff was excellent! Check in and out was quick and easy. It would have been nice to see pastries and yogurt for breakfast. They need to improve on the selection of items. Our room was spacious and clean. The area is walkable and comfortable. Parking can definitely fill up. We didn’t use the hot tub/pool area, but we took a look. Very nice!! We would recommend this hotel!

Friendly staff, with the hotel, grounds, and the room in great condition. Kept the staff informed as I was arriving later in the evening.

Did not have a chance to check out the other amenities of the hotel, maybe next time.

The only complaint was that the breakfast sandwich tasted a bit strange. Would be nice if there were more food choices.

Will consider staying at the Masterpieces Hotel the next time I am in Morro Bay.

I love the Masterpiece and have stayed here often. The heated spa pool is lovely. The staff is always great and super friendly. The breakfast included in the stay has changed (used to include the self serve waffle maker) but still a valuable inclusion in the cost of the stay. I will continue to book here when in the area!

When we arrived Madison greeted us with such care, she helped us with getting situated in our room. Yes we could see the ocean from our room as well as the rock and three stacks. Madison also recommended a great restaurant! If possible give her a 100 stars for kindness an excellent service!

Our stay at the hotel was amazing from start to finish. Parking was very convenient, and I appreciated that there were shaded parking areas available. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always helpful throughout our stay. The room was spotless and felt very well maintained.

The bedding was honestly perfect — super comfortable and made it easy to relax after a long day. The shower was another highlight with great water pressure and consistently hot water. The toiletries provided were also really nice, and there were plenty of clean towels stocked in the room.

We also loved having complimentary breakfast and coffee in the morning, which made the stay feel even more worth it. The room itself was very spacious, including the restroom, so everything felt comfortable and relaxing for us four in the double queen bed room. Overall, this hotel exceeded expectations and I would definitely stay here again!

The hotel is at great location, parking is very easy, but also challenging in the busy season. Unfortunately, the rooms have old carpet with an odd smell, balcony was tiny with no chairs, unable to seat or enjoy the view as it looked towards an old garage with junk in it. The pool is heated, but very very small. The breakfast was poor with limited options.. only oatmeal, one type of croissant, apples and drinks. My kids did not enjoy it and didn't want to eat it. Paid almost $300.00 per night. Not worth for what you pay for.

Had a great stay. The area is nice and is a close walking distance to many stores and restaurants. The room was clean. Nice view of Morro rock from the balcony. The fireplace was a nice touch and kept the room nice and toasty. We had continental breadast both mornings and the food was good. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again.

Easy hotel. Nice and simple. Breakfast was good. Gym was downstairs. Only 8-9. Would prefer the gym to be open at 5am and get my morning earlier. Not delayed. It’s a small room but works well.

The room was clean and the staff is nice. I have gone there several times and have always been happy with it before, but this time was different. The bed was as hard as a rock and the TV package was terrible. There were no movie channels. Most of the channels were infomercials. I could put up with both of those, but I cannot put up with the breakfast. They had some kind of croissants with meat and eggs. If you’re vegetarian they had one without meat. However, if you don’t want, or can’t eat bread, you’re pretty much out of luck! They did have oatmeal, but I absolutely hate oatmeal! Gross! I’m allergic to wheat, so croissants are out! They use to have boiled eggs, yogurt and a lot of pastries, muffins and donuts. I didn’t eat the pastries and things, but my husband enjoyed them. They used to have bread to toast too and some cereals. One of the reasons we stayed there in the past was because of their breakfast. I can’t imagine anyone with children eating croissants with spinach in them. I know that my husband wouldn’t like that either. I will call next time, to ask about the breakfast. If it’s still the same, than I will find another place to stay!

First, I tried to check in 40 minutes early and they said it was cost a $30 + tax fee. There were onlt two cars in parking lot. Room fairly clean but no a/c and tv remote would change channels but not turn tv on. Reviews said great breakfast, not true. Coffee, your choice of a bteakfast croissant, apples and thats it.

This is a great small hotel. There is no elevator but the first floor is easily accessible.
I arrived late on each night I stayed and the parking lot was full each night as the hotel was full but street parking was convenient.

The spa was unkept. Green algae was present. They had no hot water for tea and stated they wouldn’t obtain any. The facility is old and only decently maintained. The bathroom tub barely drained. I paid for a no smoking room but there had been somebody smoking in it. I had to text the front desk because the people next to us were smoking on the balcony and it entered our room causing and asthma attack. There were not enough pillows. The housekeeping staff didn’t speak English and dismissed me when I spoke Spanish with them. I will not come back ever again. Nor will I recommend. I wish I could get a refund for my stay.

The parking is limited. I arrived after dark to find the parking lot full and I parked on a nearby street and walked a unlit, dark neighborhood to the motel. (I am 81). Then the office was closed (9 PM). and I had to call the Night Manager to come let me in. I arrived at 9:05 PM.
Breakfast was sparse. Coffee, Juice, an almost empty pot of Oatmeal, a Croissant and a few oranges and apples.
The Night Manager came quickly and was pleasant.
The room had a comfy bed, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and TV. No charging ports.

Art is definately a theme here with many nice reproductions along the entire hallways. Many rooms do have small balconies and a view towards the rock. Note: this place is a 'long' 6 blocks or so from the coast, some rooms can see 'the rock' others cannot. There are at least a dozen hotels closer to the Embarcadero area along the bay. We came down to the continental breakfast about 1/2 hour before close and got the last piece of 'croissandwich' ... Nice building, etc. Good palce to stay.

Beautiful hotel. There’s just no individual air conditioning in the rooms. Breakfast was listed as 7:30-9:30 and they were completely out of food at 7:45 with no one around to restock it. There is also limited parking. It didn’t affect us but could potentially be an inconvenience for someone else.

The room didn’t look like it had been cleaned. There was visible dirt on the carpet and bathroom floor, and the surfaces had not been wiped down. There were clothes left in the closet by the previous guest. We were looking forward to the roman style hot tub (which is in the basement) but that was also a let down.

Another wonderful stay at the Masterpiece. The room had two comfortable queen-sized beds. They are very accommodating for their guests. I request a fan for each stay, and they always have it ready for me in the room. The rooms are very clean, and The Masterpiece will always be my first and only choice for a hotel.
