Wonderful experience. Staff is super friendly, even gave away dog gift bags for pet owners...facility is clean, they offer adults complimentary drinks and movies during happy hour. Breakfast had different options, fully staffed and clean. Very pleasant experience.

The staff were incredibly friendly and thoughtful. Anthony was mindful of any requests we might have and also reminded us of the evening popcorn, cookies, and beverage in the lobby. Rosalina was courteous and helpful during breakfast services, and we had great conversations with her. I'm really happy we got to stay at this location and explore SLO.

I did not use the hot tub or swimming pool, the breakfast was good . The room was terrible - last time it redone was probably the early 2000. The heat took forever to come on and the sink was plugged the whole time there. The carpet was terrible . I could not wait to leave and I left a day early . I lost money .

Excellent customer service. We did not use the pool but it looked nice. The breakfast was amazing. We were surprised it was in its own separate building next door. The food options were better than other hotels. Biscuits and gravy, cheese omelettes, and waffles.
The hotel is also within walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and the Madonna Inn.

warm and friendly staff welcomed us and got us checked in quickly. There were cookies and coffee in the lobby. our room seemed clean but very small. the microwave was a welcome addition I didn’t expect. no view but didnt need one. great pool and hot tub. included buffet style breakfast was fine. the waffle station was a a highlight for my son. the wifi was kind of slow and would cut out kind of frequently it wasnt useful for my purposes. but it was fine for streaming services.

The room was clean and there’s a balcony which was great but room 318 balcony door doesn’t lock. Kind of uneasy sleeping at night because while it sounds like the room is on the 3rd floor it’s not so there was easy access to the room from the balcony. Breakfast was better than your average hot breakfast and staff was super friendly. The gym and checkin/out was great.

Ohhh, we were only there to sleep and left at noon the next day but there was an odd odor upon opening the door. I think the carpet needs a steam clean or air out the room. Otherwise I felt comfortable for a one night stay.

Everything about this hotel was only ok. Pool and hot tub were nice but not very warm. Breakfast pretty bad. There were earthmovers directly across from my room which woke me before 7AM. While this is not exactly in control of the hotel, they might have thought not to populate those rooms in a very large hotel.

The location was great, nearby to most everything or a short drive. The room was good, it could of been cleaned better, there were crumbs on the tv remote and side tables were a little dusty. Other then that, we had everything we needed and our stay was comfortable for two tonights.

We like this hotel. This is the 3rd time we've stayed here and every other time was great. We specifically booked this time to sit by the firepit and sit in the jacuzzi and use the pool. When we arrived at 3pm on Saturday, the pool was closed, and the jacuzzi was cold and the firepit wasn't working. My wife told the front desk person, who said \"sorry.\" A maintenance worker came out and said \"the jacuzzi was turned off, I turned it on, it won't be hot for a few hours.\" My wife said \"this is like going to Disneyland and finding out your favorite ride is not working.\" As I said, we choose to come here. We would assume your staff in the morning, especially on a Saturday, would check to see if the jacuzzi was turned on or not. Not what we expected.

Was very happy, pleased, and satisfied with my stay at the best Western Royal Oak in San Luis Obispo, California. The room was spacious and comfortable and cozy. My wife and I had a wonderful time. Great staff awesome service kind and very happy people would definitely stay there over and over again. The accommodation was amazing. My only critique that I would make is the toilet in our bathroom was a little too short. I’m a taller guy, if they could just raise the toilet a few inches that would be great but the cleanliness the hospitality and the friendliness was fantastic.

I'd really like to know why Best Western keeps a pretty unkempt and worn floored fitness room when this perk is something many guests would love to enjoy. The equipment is organized in a very small (and almost unsafe manner) for any kind of exercise. For example, they have one or two unwashed yoga mats that can be placed in just a small footprint between two exercise bikes and machinery. This is just begging for an accident.

Please increase the fitness space in your establishments. You will capture more customers this way and they will feel better about themselves.

The shower water runs out of the basin and floods the bathroom. The curtain and or threshold is not enough to prevent this.

Clean mattresses and ample television options.

Nicest Best Western I've stayed in. We were in the area for a wedding just for the night. Wedding was at 3 pm (normal Checkin time). I explained this to the person at the front desk and he found a room for us that was ready earlier. Saved me from getting ready in a public restroom!!! Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Hotel staff very nice. Breakfast buffet was a bit above the typical with lots of choices and good fresh fruit. Only reason for not 5 star rating is the walls are thin. Could hear others next door.

Nice hotel but we had several concerns: 1) the toilet kept running most of the night; 2) we noticed that someone dropped cereals in the elevator and it was never cleaned. Our observation reveal the present of the cereal was never clean. It was there at our departure after three days; and 3) the ice machine was located in a separate corridor secured by a door. That’s a good thing. But needs a sign or something indicating you need a key to re enter the corridor. Otherwise is was a great stay

My stay was booked through Hotels.com using the PayLater option. My confirmed price was $2703.69 and I was ultimately charged $3091.40 by the hotel, a difference of $387.71 more. My stay was in June and to date am still unable to get this overpayment refunded through efforts with Hotels.com

Regardless of where the mistake was made, it's frustrating and would have appreciated if both sides could have worked on this in a more timely manner.

We booked a room with two queen size beds at this hotel because there were three people staying in the room. Firstly, whoever was at the front desk, he was not only very flippant but also very, very slow to get anything done. Second, the room we got was on the fourth floor, but the elevator only reached to the third floor. We had to haul all of our luggage all the way to our room with no help. Additionally, the only way to get to the room was through an outdoor hallway that faced just a massive rock mountain. Finally when we got to our room (after all the waiting and inconveniences of getting to the room), we were met with a single king bed instead of our reserved double queen beds. Apparently this was the only room available, and they were trying to scam us of our room by telling us they had what we wanted and instead giving us another and tried making up for it by offering to bring us a cot for an extra bed. Overall, just a poor poor experiences with absolutely no transparency in the worker.

The pet area was in disrepair, gate and fence were broken.
A large animal left his bowel movement just outside the fence, next to parking. If you say you have a pet area, you should have more than just dirt. There is a dog park in the Laguna Lake park, not within walking distance. The spa was cold in the evening.
