The Shell Beach Inn is a wonderful little boutique hotel! We love the layout of the rooms and they are well stocked! They have a great pool and chairs to hang outside of f you choose. We love that you can walk around all of Shell Beach!

A sleepy motel look from the outside but like a comfortable home inside. We loved staying at the Shell Beach Inn in a quiet part of Pismo. The suite is more like a one bedrroom owners accomodation, Rm 11 and definately would stay again. Some traffic noise, but, the beds have ear plugs on the night stands. To save money, you could stay in rm 9 which we saw & was equally welcoming. Dont forget to enjoy their pool too.

The place is great. Perfect location. Only gripe I have is our keys stopped working the second day. Texted the staff (because no one was in the office). They tried to get us to use the app but it would not work. Someone said thanks for letting them know and they will look into it. Still haven’t heard back. Luckily we figured out our keys stopped working while one of us was still in the room or we may still be locked out right now. We had to leave our window cracked open and I had to crawl thru the window to open the door.

The room was clean and attractive. However, there was no electrical outlet for the microwave and for the coffee maker. They were unplugged and there was no electrical outlet anywhere near them. In order to use both items, my husband had to relocate them to the dresser. That was very weird! There was coffee and cream and sugar, but no way to make the coffee! The staff was friendly and the parking was right in front of the unit. There’s plenty of hot water and fresh towels and a comfortable bed. However, the motel is right next to the highway and the road noise is very loud. This could be helped if the door had a seal and fit more properly in the frame. It was a mixed experience.

The room was very nice clean. They have great towels lots of snacks, coffee chocolate popcorn, candy mints they have a fridge they have a microwave. They have a coffee pot nice bedding, extra blankets. A small ice chest in the room, wine glasses, coffee, cups wine opener, a desk if you wanna do some work, everything was very restful nice peaceful.

Gaining access to the room was easy- especially the flexible option of arriving after hours and using the app to open the door. I honestly had no human interaction to get into the space and upon exiting at the end of the trip. I didn’t see housekeeping but noticed the towels had been replaced and toilet paper roll. HOWEVER. Here is where I don’t like leaving a bad review, but it must be known that I had requested -on the notepad given to write on for the housekeeping team- that there was a serious ANT problem- yes ants, everywhere. They weren’t doing anything but just wandering, no food was left so I tried not to let it bother me. The floors were kinda sticky and had a film of something on them which didn’t make going barefoot a pleasant experience. There were crumbs and hair gathered in the corner of the room next to the bed, just not maintained the best for the next guest :(
The ants got worse- no food again in sight but they decided to explore my bags and clothes which was odd. The tv remote didn’t work. Anyway-on a positive note-there was a large fridge and microwave. The bed was very comfortable, had a great night sleep. And it was ant free. Would probably try to find another spot close by on the next trip down.

Parking was great, right by our door, no fees, no valet, so easy. Room was clean and housekeeper even left a note, (Maria, I believe). We arrived late, and the innkeeper Daniel, left a code in a lockbox, and sent a secure electronic key via my mobile device. Very close to restaurants, thinking breakfast at Zorros cafe an easy block walk away was great, with a Shell Beach Inn coupon. We booked the same day as our travels were loosely planned, (my specialty)…. We met with family visiting the area, en route to another destination. Loved to see our family 😁 on our way! Thank you Shell Beach Inn for making a very last moment visit successful.

Stayed for 1 night. Great communication with the office. They asked when I would arrive and they left the key in a lockbox. The office closes at 5pm, but they are available via text. Room was nice and cozy. Popcorn, coffee, hot cocoa, bottled water, soap, shampoo, conditioner, makeup wipes, and shower caps available in the room. Bathroom is compact, but everything works great. We stayed in the winter so it got a little cold at night. Room has a heater/AC wall unit. Remote was missing, but staff brought us a replacement even though it was 9pm. Ate at Zorros a block away. 10% off coupon in the room, but I forgot to use it. Loud freeway noise, but they give you earplugs. The walls are thin and I could hear the people in the room next door talking. Overall, great stay!

We would stay again. A few items for suggested improvement.One wash cloth given, per person, for 4 days is insufficient. Bath and hand towels provided daily. Dirty floor. My slipper socks very dirty. A floor lamp not plugged in and unable to plug in.

Clean and cozy room and nice simple amenities. Close to shops and restaurants and a short walk to the beach. A very nice place to stay.

The room I was in was very comfortable!! There was a refrigerator, coffee maker you know the normal amenities but there was added touches for instance the little glass jar of candies/mints, big porcelain coffee cups and glasses for water/ drinks. They also put a small ice chest full of ice in your room. The coolest thing of all was the sticky note pad holder with pen by the door exiting your room. I enjoyed the decor it felt homey.

We really enjoyed our stay at Shell Beach Inn. It's the perfect distance between Pismo and Avila Beaches and has easy access to many restaurants and a little store. The room was simple but had everything we needed to enjoy the beach. The pool was warm enough that we could use it and my kids enjoyed it a lot.

Pismo Beach has always been our choice when visiting Santa Barbara and the central California coastal areas. The hotel is a remodeled motel. The management took extra care to add a number of upscale amenities to make their guests comfortable. The rooms were small but well equipped and thoughtfully decorated. Quiet and convenient.
