This was a lovely property, right on the cliff overlooking Pismo Beach. We loved the beach access, fire pits, and comfortable rooms. Well maintained, and conveniently located 5 minutes to the Pismo Beach pier, and right off the 101!

Friendly staff who were very helpful. Room was very cute, clean and charming. Large mirrors and decent closet. Decent beds and pillows. Fireplace works. The grounds are very nice, great atmosphere at night with the outdoor fire pits overlooking the ocean. It’s very lively at night with a great view!

Beware that there are lots of birds there and bird droppings. Your car will probably get bird poop on it and additionally the birds can be noisy affecting your sleep. Bring some earplugs. That is just how it is in this location so it’s not just specific to this hotel.

Great option for traveling with pooch. The room we got, queen room with fireplace, felt a little cramped, however. Also, the firepit area is always occupied and sometimes by people who are not residents of the Cottage Inn. The free breakfast buffet is no longer free. Oh well. I still like the location as it is not too far from the steps to the beach and the staff is very friendly.

Great location! Couldn’t have asked for a better spot complete with fireplace, outdoor swimming pool and hot tub less than 20 ft away right outside our back door, and outdoor firepit. Lots of seating along the shoreline with magnificent views. Nice to have breakfast & Starbucks delivered to your door as an option. Wonderful sea life abounds!

The property sits on a cliff and overlooks Pismo Beach and beautiful ocean. I came with my granddaughters and husband and we stayed in a room on the second floor overlooking the ocean. The place has no elevators which made it hard to take luggage upstairs. I recommend staying on the lower floor. No daily HK, you need to request services. I asked the staff to pick up wet towels which wasnt done. No body soap the first day we were there but the came the following day based on our request. There werent enough towels or pool towels. I requested some more and was told to pick them up at the front desk. Everything was self seve at the front desk which wasnt manned most of the time. The cafe closes early. Theres a pool and hot tub which is protected from the wind which was nice. Access to the beach was down a steep stairway. It was about 90 steps to the beach. The beach was cold and windy but the kids loved it anyways. There were firepits in the evening. I wouldnt stay here again for the price I paid and the service I received. The view was gorgeous though!

We really enjoyed our stay at Cottage Inn by the Sea. The location was excellent, and the property was peaceful and quiet, which is exactly what we were looking for. While it's a short walk to restaurants and shops, we actually preferred being a little away from the busy areas.

The bluff location is beautiful, especially at sunset. The ocean views are stunning and were one of the highlights of our stay. Overall, it was a relaxing place to stay, and we would definitely consider coming back.

The lady manager was very helpful to us. We had guests above us that let their kids jump and run around in their room late into the night 11pm and early morning 4am. On our 3rd night I called the manager at 11 pm and she called the room above us asking them to be quiet. Eventually they got quiet. I didn’t expect this, but she comped some things for us. They take serious the sleep their guests receive😊 We’ve been coming here for years and will continue to do so.

We loved this little gem of a place! We were only there for one night on a trip down through California but OMG it was lovely… so many little additional extras they had thought of and I loved the fireplace in the room and the fire pits on the terrace overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the night.. absolutely gorgeous! Would highly recommend.

Cottage Inn is one of our favorites to stay at. Great location, great amenities and helpful staff. We love their pool and jacuzzi and their fire pit areas are great after a long day walking/playing on the beach. During our stay, they were doing lots of maintenance work, but notified us that morning of the first day of work about the expected noise. This has become one of our go-to places when we are in the Pismo area. While they don’t have a free breakfast, they do have pay options down in the hotel lobby area. They do offer free coffee and filtered water for hotel guests. The only complaint we really have is the daily parking fee - maybe consider a flat fee/discount if staying more than one day.

This was our 1st stay at the Cottage Inn. Super cute updated room. Grounds were well maintained and clean. We got the room with the ocean view. Beautiful view of the ocean! Loved sleeping with the windows open and hearing the ocean! Management was super helpful and were very accommodating of our dogs traveling with us . Highly recommend to stay here passing through Pismo!

Clean room ! Staff really nice and pretty on their stuff ! I believe it is pet friendly ! Beautiful view walking out to the coast line , close to the beach! Walking distance. Breakfast you pay for , plain Starbucks coffee is free . The beds were hard this time from the last time I came but it is also different rooms . I stayed in 114 and it came with 2 queen … very nice . Wish there were more entertainment channels on the tv . Comes with fireplace and AC . Staff fixed our plumbing because first use wasn’t flushing but yea they fixed it. Definitely nice I would go again 💖! Thank you to the staff 💖

We stayed at Cottage Inn while in Pismo Beach for a big classic car show. One disappointing thing was that there was only one parking spot per room and we had two cars with us. The desk staff was extremely nice and apologetic. They were able to offer suggestions on a neighborhood we could park a car in that was walking distance. It worked out okay but was nerve wracking. The room was nice lovely gas log fireplace. We had a puppy with us and there was a nice place with a great ocean view to walk her for morning and evening potty trips.
One other complaint would be that it was very noisy. The rooms were not sound proofed at all. You could hear lots of noise from other rooms and from the parking lot.
I will say that the location was good, the fire pit areas above the beach were lovely and the front desk staff were all wonderful.

The room I was in, 216 looked like the last time it was upgraded was maybe in the 70s … when I arrived, the gentleman at the front desk put me in a room where there was some kind of construction or leak in issue or something going on, and I had to walk under plastic that was dripping water to get to my room. There was a generator next to my room that went turned on was so loud for the day I arrived and the day after I arrived. A bottle of Fiji water was five dollars, my fireplace did not work and I had my nephew take my car to where he was staying because parking every night was $30. I think that is enough at this point!

The \"breakfast\" is more like a low grade starbucks counter with ready-made items but few choices. The room was great, we stayed on the second level and were impressed with the vaulted ceilings and open feel. The property seemed older with small items like the toilet seat was crooked, the towel holder was loose on the wall, etc. overall it was quiet, staff was pleasant, and you can't beat the location.

The hotel is beautiful and very clean, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The views are spectacular, and there’s direct beach access to the Pismo Beach pier, which was amazing.
The only downside was that we stayed on the ground floor, and the room above us had children running and jumping late at night. Around midnight, the noise became unbearable, making it very difficult to fall asleep

It’s cute, the staff is super friendly and helpful, it’s close to everything, and it has out of this world beautiful view of the ocean with comfortable picnic tables and chairs. We had two rooms. The renovated double queen was really nice. The ocean front king room was very dated, so dated that the bathroom looked dirty. The non slip mat was disgusting and the floor tile had a huge chip. The bistro offering was just ok, but the smores kits were great. You also had to walk pretty far to get water in the lobby area. My husband recently had surgery and is using a cane. We were on the second floor and there was no elevator so I had to carry our luggage upstairs. Overall a beautiful view and the fire pits were awesome! I would stay again, but only in a renovated room.

We would easily return to the Cottage Inn By The Sea on a future stay. The staff was great. Our room was very clean and the outdoor fire pits were lovely. There are steps down to the beach, but a beautiful view if you don't want to do steps. The pool and hot tub are outdoor and were great.
