The \"breakfast\" is more like a low grade starbucks counter with ready-made items but few choices. The room was great, we stayed on the second level and were impressed with the vaulted ceilings and open feel. The property seemed older with small items like the toilet seat was crooked, the towel holder was loose on the wall, etc. overall it was quiet, staff was pleasant, and you can't beat the location.

The hotel is beautiful and very clean, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The views are spectacular, and there’s direct beach access to the Pismo Beach pier, which was amazing.
The only downside was that we stayed on the ground floor, and the room above us had children running and jumping late at night. Around midnight, the noise became unbearable, making it very difficult to fall asleep

This place is phenomenal. I love love love love love and did I say love this place. Definitely somewhere that I will be returning to. We enjoyed every second of our stay. The staff was wonderful, polite, and helpful. The view is EVERYTHING! It’s peaceful and inviting for solo, couples, and even family. The rooms are really spacious. I can’t wait to go back.

Amazing in every single way. Had a couple of days that was wonderful. Highly recommend this place. It’s cute, the staff is super friendly and helpful, it’s close to everything, and it has out of this world beautiful view of the ocean with comfortable picnic tables and chairs. Nice pool area very clean. The rooms are super comfortable. All in all an amazing day and I would have loved to stay longer and will for sure come back.

We had two rooms. The renovated double queen was really nice. The ocean front king room was very dated, so dated that the bathroom looked dirty. The non slip mat was disgusting and the floor tile had a huge chip. The bistro offering was just ok, but the smores kits were great. You also had to walk pretty far to get water in the lobby area. My husband recently had surgery and is using a cane. We were on the second floor and there was no elevator so I had to carry our luggage upstairs. Overall a beautiful view and the fire pits were awesome! I would stay again, but only in a renovated room.

We would easily return to the Cottage Inn By The Sea on a future stay. The staff was great. Our room was very clean and the outdoor fire pits were lovely. There are steps down to the beach, but a beautiful view if you don't want to do steps. The pool and hot tub are outdoor and were great.

We absolutely loved our stay!! Our room was clean and we loved the convenience of looking over the ocean and being able to walk down the staircase to explore the beauty that is Pismo Beach. The sea caves below were such an amazing experience to do with our family. Can’t say enough about the amazing staff. I ran into at least four or five different staff members while we stayed there and everyone was so kind and so cheerful and so helpful. I cannot wait to come back.

The hotel continues to improve each time we go. The landscaping in the back just makes the incredible view just that much better. Of all the hotel in the cliffs, this is definitely the most quaint one. We love the fireplace in each room and how large the rooms are. I do wish they had more fire pits as they do get taken fast, but it’s nice to have the ones they do have. We have stayed several times now and will always go back.

I booked 2 rooms for the weekend. One of the rooms had AC and the other didnt. Didnt know that i had to check for that nor were we made aware of it. Never stayed at a hotel that didnt have AC. Of course the day was hot and the room was hotter and stuffy. Called the front desk and there solution was to send us 2 floors fans. So we had a ceiling fan that was wobbly, and 2 floor fans that made some much noise, it was hard to sleep. We jsut made the best of it but definitely will have start asking if rooms are equipped with Ac from now on.

The beach access was amazing! Since it’s far from the pier it’s mostly empty during the week. My friend and I stayed for a girls trip and it felt very safe. The staff was very kind and attentive. Bluff Bistro coffee was also so good! I suggest you only get coffee here as the food options are limited and pricey. Although they were pricey we enjoyed some tater tots for breakfast, they were delicious! Overall the rooms were clean, the views were amazing and I would stay here again!

The room was not ocean view, but it was nicely decorated, with a gas fireplace, fridge, and microwave. The bedding was comfy, with great pillows. Staff was super friendly. The grounds are amazing, with perfect views of the ocean. The pathway along the cliffs is the big draw, in our eyes. The pool area is small, with no real spot to lounge within the confines of the fenced in area. But there are chairs nearby along the cliffs to sit. We enjoyed our stay.

Great location, stairs (lots of stairs) to the beach, rooms spacious and clean. The only issue we had was parking, we had two cars and they only allow one parking pass per room. We had to find space four blocks away to leave one car. It was residential, but not the best situation to have women walking late at night to their cars.

The staff was great, they upgraded our room to an ocean view room and it was fantastic! My wife loved the view and the fire pit was right outside our back door. We spent the evening and morning by the fire pit enjoying the views. We had a great stay and are planning to come back again.
