Vibe: From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is great--decorated in a Hacienda style that feels warm & authentic. Everything is clean & feels relatively new. Some minor scuffs on high traffic areas & some areas of the rug are visibly worn but not gross in anyway. Music playing & fireplace going, create a vibe that makes you feel instantly relaxed.
Room: We stayed in a standard room, but it was well equipped with:
• Mini kitchenette with the basics for light cooking.
• Cozy fireplace & private balcony.
• Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom.
• Pristine linens: towels, robes, and bedding were in excellent condition & smelled wonderfully fresh. Hotel toiletries smelled divine.
Amenities: The service here is next-level. You are treated like a VIP all day long with an endless rotation of treats, all included in the stay:
• Basket of snacks, bottle of champagne, lil grazing plate await you in your room.
• Croissant breakfast & fresh cookies.

The only minor point worth noting: the walls are a bit thin. You can hear doors opening and closing in the hallway, and if you have a loud neighbor that snores you will hear them--maybe bring ear plugs:-)

So many little touches not found in other hotels - complimentary snacks and water in the room, heated towel warmer, ceiling fan… not to mention all the extra little receptions - wine and cheese at 6pm, pie at 8pm, and to do for croissants for breakfast. Didn’t even need to leave the hotel to find food! Will definitely go back.

This hotel is a gem if you are looking for a botique style stay. The design is colorful with a lot of attention to details. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Everything is clean. The service is extremely friendly and welcoming. There are a number of complimentary food servings during the day in the common area (morning croissants, afternoon wine tasting, etc.).

Book the stay immediately, stop looking around, this is the place. If you want relaxation, romantic and chill, this is the place. The staff is friendly, the room stole the show though. Fireplace, jacuzzi tub, Egyptian sheets, complimentary wine/snacks, the DVD/24-hour snack pantry, the daily complimentary snacks/beverages in the hotel kitchen - you name it, we were pampered. Can't wait to come back!

Weird experience here. I stayed on my way to LA and it was an impulse booking. I was greeted with a very unfriendly staff at reception. The hotel and room are dated but clean. There was no shampoo and the shower water temp was lukewarm so it made for a less than enjoyable morning. The staff later was kind and offered treats in the lobby which I appreciated. Won't stay here again

That same room also provides movies to borrow and chairs to take to the beach. There are several times to get food for free. It was so much fun.

Like stepping back in time to an era of full custom service. Hand prepared charcuterie board in the room with a bottle of champagne on arrival, grab and go snacks and drinks, happy hour cocktail and snacks, late night pie, and friendly smiles. Honestly haven’t seen that in decades. Why stay in SLO when this is right down the road in a splendid coastal setting.

What a wonderful surprise was the La Fonda Hotel from the delightful check in staff to the “goodie” basket and all the receptions. The room was immaculate and the bed most comfortable. The hotel was just decorating for Christmas which gave it a magical atmosphere. The staff was to helpful and so eager to please. The location of the hotel is excellent to restaurants, wine tasting and walks on the beach. We highly recommend a stay at this lovely, cozy beach town hotel.

Regardless of the room you reserve and pay for, the hotel may reassign you to a different one based on availability, without notifying you in advance — simply because you made the reservation through Expedia and not directly on the hotel’s website.

They had several free dining opportunities. Breakfast was croissants, juice, coffee and fruit. Afternoon was chips and salsa beer. Happy hour was charcuterie tray and wine, after dinner was pie and ice cream. These were all delicious. The hotel is older and several upgrades could be made. Furniture is very old and scratched. Too much furniture for such a small room. Stand alone air conditioner very noisy. Large refrigerator, electric stove and dishwasher were not necessary for us. There are convenient eateries within walking distance. Shower door would not close properly and a few light bulbs needed to be replaced. We were near the beach and view from our balcony was asphalt parking structure. This was our first time and probably our last.

One thing to note is the toilet doesn't have a lid and it's located directly in front of the shower. As this is an older property that makes sense, just personal preference.
In closing: from the curated decor and friendly staff, to the daily homemade croissants, wine tastings and nacho bar(oh and pie time from 8-9!), this is truly the only place you should stay in the Avila Beach, SLO or Pismo area. 11/10

This is a very charming small hotel (maybe 30 or so rooms?), kept in immaculate condition, and staffed by some of the friendliest people you could ever hope to meet.
They went out of their way to be helpful and friendly.
The area is very scenic, and there are numerous stores and restaurants for those so inclined.

the picture don’t do justice for this hotel. This hotel is so cute, pets are welcome on the first floor, and staff are great. Throughout the day hotel offers pastries, cocktails, pies with ice cream and a charcuterie board with wine. I would definitely recommend and return back with my dog. This property is unique, and the staff members made this visit pleasant. The hotel is small and older, but maintained in excellent condition. The common area and rooms were clean. The location is perfect. The front desk staff member, Paulina, went above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. Our party interacted with her throughout our stay. Paulina gave us recommendations for places to visit and always greeted us with a smile. This type of customer service is a rarity in today's society. The freshly baked pies and croissants were always a good treat. I will be staying here when visiting the area. Paulina, we hope to see you when we come back and with the same enthusiasm.

This little hotel is such a gem in the quaint little sleepy beach city of Avila. We stayed for our 21st wedding anniversary and loved it. Every part of it. All the extra little treats for guests throughout the day and how it felt like a little community. Your staff is so friendly too!
The only complaint I have is that the only good lighting to put makeup on is in the bathroom and I’m only 5 feet tall and the mirrors are so high that I had to stand on my tippy toes to put makeup on haha. If we can lower it an inch or two, we’d be golden. It’s more of a “me” problem though, that’s why I didn’t deduct any stars.

This is such a little gem. Quaint and charming Spanish decor. Only one half block to the beach. Free happy hour, coffee and pastries and late night pie with ice cream. Plus a complementary basket of goodies upon arrival. I could not recommend this place more. It’s adults only so very quiet and peaceful.

Nice jacuzzi tub after a long day of driving. Breakfast is pretty sparse. Fireplace only works when set to 90 degrees so unless you want to be really hot you need to turn it off. Otherwise room was comfortable. Really appreciated the Noon check out time.
