Great location with easy access to the beach. I suggest trying to get a room on the 4th floor because we had a lot of noise from the people in the room above us and when housekeeping came in it was quite loud. The bathroom tub needed a little more attention before we arrived because there was a lot of hair in the tub but besides that everything else was clean. The rooms have been recently updated and all of the appliances were new. The kitchen was fully stocked with all of the dishware and utensils you would need to make a meal, you just need to bring your ingredients. There is no restaurant on the premises but a card was provided for discount at local restaurants which came in handy. It was disappointing that so many children were running down the hallway and even knocking on doors. That is no fault to the hotel but to the parents who should have been more attentive. Along with the no smoking and pet policy that you sign when checking in, maybe the hotel could put a reminder about being courteous. All in all, we had a nice stay and would recommend the hotel and not hesitate to stay there again.

We liked the condo, just the right size and very comfortable. The view was nice but it overlooked the parking lot. Parking was a bit of a problem. We had to park at the bottom and walk up the hill to the building.The lot was full.

I’d be giving this place a four star review if it weren’t for the paper thin walls and ceiling. I could practically join in on the conversation with the people next-door. They were up late talking, which was their absolute right, and they weren’t even being loud about it, but almost hearing every word really infringed on my sleep. The foot falls of the people above us were also really loud and hard to ignore. Getting a poor night’s sleep tainted the whole stay and entire next day.

We recently stayed at Hilton Vacation Club San Luis Bay in Avila Beach and had a very enjoyable visit. The lobby has been beautifully renovated and gives a great first impression. While the guest rooms are a bit dated compared to the lobby, they were exceptionally clean and well maintained.

Our room included a comfortable king bed, a full kitchen, and a partial ocean view if you stepped out onto the balcony and looked toward the water. The extra space and kitchen were a nice bonus for a longer stay.

The location is excellent, with easy access to Avila Beach and the surrounding area. Overall, the property could use some room updates, but the cleanliness, amenities, and great location made for a pleasant stay. We would definitely consider staying here again.

What we didn't like was having to wait approx 1-1/2 hrs to get into our room & this was at 4:00 or later. We got all checked in & then had to wait for 1-1/2 hrs for our room. We were told there was some kind of problem & we saw many other families having to wait also. We were meeting our family & friends for dinner in SLO & by the time we finally got our room we had to just leave most of our things on the luggage cart in the room & we left for the evening. When we returned later that evening the key wouldn't open the door & then we realized we'd put all our things in that room but it was the wrong room. But the key we'd been given opened that door. Our correct room was right across the hall but the key we were given earlier opened that other door not the correct room. We went down to the front desk & they had our luggage cart there. Very disturbing! My husbamd spoke to a mgr about this & asked for a discount on the room but he was told they don't do that but offered us a bottle of wine & we don't drink. So we didn't take the bottle of wine. I should also mention it was noisy because of some vent. Our friends had the same problem with noise.

Hotel was conveniently located. Rooms were clean with appropriate amenities as described (functional refrigerator, a 4 stove top , utensils, microwave and oven, television). Utensils could have been non-teflon ones.
TVs with streaming options such as Netflix would have been good . More pillow options would have been good - we got very fat pillows that caused some neck pain.
Bed was king size and comfortable.
Not all rooms also had unrestricted ocean view - which is a pity. Our room had a terrace right outside the window blocking our view.

The Ocean View is fantastic but probably looking over a rooftop to see....unless you are a member! You can be near the pool and outside seating areas to have an unobstructed beautiful view of the Avila Cove. The spa was perfectly warm and clean.

Although we were only there for one night we still had a pleasant stay. The room was spacious and the bathroom was also spacious and clean. We had a small view of the ocean from our balcony. Unfortunately it rained a bit.

We were placed in a room that was known to be directly under ongoing roof repairs. The noise was horrendous all day every day of our stay! For the price of this room, i expected the toilets to be of modern, standard height, rather than of the older, lower height. With 2 bathrooms, we expected at least one to have a walk in shower rather than 2 very tall tubs, which were awkward & frankly dangerous to get in & out of safely. Adults want a shower! One of us had a medical issue, & your concierge, Olivia, was extremely helpful & accommodating. We should NOT have been placed in this room with ongoing, extremely noisy repairs happening. When we asked to be moved, we were told that club members were given preference of rooms & there were no other rooms available. That was insulting, given the price we paid. We were also told that we couldn't get a refund on the room, if we decided to leave because of the noise, because we had booked & paid for the room on Expedia.. Under the circumstances, your relationship with Expedia should have been able to work out a refund. We were told that the resort fee would be refunded, but have yet to receive the email confirming that. All in all, this stay was a disaster, & without further action to refund the cost of the room, we will be sharing this horror sori ldtory on social media.

A Hidden Gem with Stunning Views and Peace
I discovered this place by chance back in 2020, and it has been my go-to spot ever since. Whenever I’m in the Avila Beach area, I always try to stay here, especially during the fall and winter months.
The Highlights:
The hotel is nestled on a hill, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the perfect destination. It’s the ideal place to slow down, breathe, and enjoy the calm atmosphere.
A Few Things to Note:
It’s worth mentioning that the property is currently undergoing some updates. The lobby is under renovation, and the restaurant is closed at the moment. Some areas feel a bit dated (classic style), but everything else is fully functional and well-maintained.
Despite the construction, the soul of the place remains the same. It’s still my favorite peaceful retreat, and I will definitely be back!

The staff is second to none. During this time of renovations with the lobby, coffee area and great room being closed the staff did its best to accommodate.
Room was clean and comfortable. Sufficiently stocked kitchen made cooking in the room easy. Hosted 3 dinner parties with 10-12 people per setting up on the terrace and patio allowed for everyone to have a seat at the table.
2nd year here with plans to return next year.

We spent 4 nights here in mid October in a one bedroomed unit. The building and grounds were very well maintained and the unit was modern and stylish with plenty of home comforts. The kitchen had plenty of utensils and crockery for preparing cold or hot food. A nice pool area which was not crowded during our visit (neither was the resort) and whilst we didn’t make use of the BBQ grills, we saw a number of others doing so. We enjoyed sitting on our balcony which had a view of the beach. A short walk to the beach and some local restaurants and only a short drive to San Luis Obispo and the PCH. This is a good alternative to a hotel room with the additional space and options to self cater and we wouldn’t hesitate to chose a vacation club in future.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. The room was clean and much larger than we anticipated for a mini suite. We arrived early and our room was ready so we were able to check in sooner. This hotel has stunning views of Avila Beach. Its located on top of a hill so we were able to relax with perfect view and sound of waves. We took short walks to Avila and Port San Luis to eat. Staff was nice. We didnt get our room clean throughout our stay and the fire alarm woke us up both nights at 4am. Both times were false alarms but very scary. The hotel only has coffee it would be nice if they would add continental breakfast since restaurants are walking distance or expand their pool table area by adding a bar & lounge. Every business and restaurant closes at 8pm so it would be nice to have something to do. Our overall stay was very relaxing for our first time at Avila.

There was a fire alarm twice during our 2 night stay. The first one was at 4am. We could not get ahold of anyone at the front desk so we had to walk down there to see what was going on. The desk clerk was not too worried and there was no fire dept there. She said she thought it was a false alarm. Not very comforting. When I mentioned when I checked out that I thought it was not handled very well, there was no apology I was just told they were short staffed and they aren’t a hotel they are a timeshare. They is mot very hospitable. I’ll not stay here again or recommend it.

Based on the website pics we thought we would get a balcony with some sort of view. The room itself was very nice and hotel grounds had beautiful water views. BUT the ‘balcony’ was literally too small for 2 people and all you saw were walls and the tops of a couple palm trees. We asked for a different room, but were told club owners get first dibs, which is understandable, but we paid 300.00 a night which was a lot of money for us. Front desk manager was not accommodating at all and said hotel was full. Which it might have been and I might not complain if the room were not so expensive,,but at the price we paid and the website pics we saw and driving up to the hotel with all the nice balconies, the balcony we got was wrong. A hill view or parking lot would have been a thousand times better. We love sitting in our outdoor area and is one of the things we look for in a room. Very, very, very disappointing. Never stay in room 322!!

Nothing. Electrical plugs are worn out and unsafe. Many don’t work at all! No desk for working. Coffee machine not working. Tub-shower slippery and unsafe with no safety mat available… on and on. This property is a black mark on the Hilton brand. Will never recommend it to my friends and associates!
