We’ve stayed here before and it was a great stay since then it seems like the inside of the hotel has been refreshed but the cost of tha refreshment is untrained staff and no more warm fresh baked cookies. Honestly, the cookies were a nice touch it aligned more with the level of the hotel. You get that this version of the hotel chains for Marriott well isn’t top of the line. However, you concede for price but having enough staff that is trained by the way goes a long way.

Internet was down for all three nights of visit. One of our rooms was given to another party while we were in the room (someone entered our room with a key while we were there). Contractors working on the front entry during entire visit. All three days the restaurant continuously got orders wrong and took a long time to serve. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Hotel appears to be older but recently remodeled.

While the hotel was nice, I was disappointed to have to pay for parking. I can understand in a city where it's hard to find parking, but this was a huge hotel near the end of a cul-de-sac with ample parking. I probably won't stay here again because of the parking fee. I thought it was a lame, money-grabbing move by Marriott.

When we arrived we were assigned a “premium” double queen room even though we booked a queen. That was not cool.

First time using the toilet it got clogged…no we didn’t use too much toilet paper.

Used the spa that was relaxing.

Nothing extra special about this property. The lobby was nice and clean, as it should be. There is a lot of seating if you want to hang out there.

They do offer Starbucks coffee and happened to make my go to, Carmel Macciato, but be aware they close at 10am.

Selene was an amazing and welcoming staff member. She made our check in really smooth and had a welcoming smile every time we came in. The room was nice, the shower and shower curtains could have looked cleaner. I appreciated having enough towels for the 3 day stay. Premises looked nice from the outside, unfortunately we did not have time to check out the pool area or gym.

Felt unwelcome by staff at checkin because our room reservation was made using a third party app that reserved the room with our login name instead of the names on our govt-issued IDs. Hotel staff said they will only checkin people who have a govt-issued ID that matches the reservation. They went on to say that we should think of their hotel like the airport. They went on and on about it and made it seem like they wanted to turn us away. Also, despite our two night reservation, they made our room keys expire after just one night. There were other issues that negatively impacted our stay as well.

Avoid this hotel! This property has been going thru a major overhaul for over a year with no regard for the guests. This is our second time staying at the SLO Courtyard Marriott this year - noise and facilities closed both times, with no prior notice or warning. The staff placed us in a room with jackhammering directly below us - remodeling the main floor bar and breakfast area - this hotel has over 150 rooms - no guests should have been in those rooms. In addition we prepaid for the 5 day stay and were charged a second time at check-in. We had two maintenance requests and our room was propped open for hours with no staff in the vicinity. We have stayed here numerous times in the last four years but this was the last - horrible experience.

However, I was disappointed that breakfast was not included with my room. There wasn't even complimentary coffee in the lounge area. So it's a toss up - view or breakfast.
Had I realized that, I would have booked at the Embassy Suites which is well known for it's excellent breakfast offerings for it's guests.

I didn’t realize when I booked that the hotel would be under renovation during our stay. I think this most significantly impacted our stay and this review.
Pros: good location, great pool and spa area, renovated rooms were spacious enough for family of four and had lots of storage.
Cons: parking was limited, outside lighting off at night in parking lot (due to construction?), workers near windows early in the am and early am construction noise. AC wasn’t working well and housekeeping didn’t come the first day but both were addressed as soon as I let the front desk know.
Definitely would have a higher rating without construction interference.

The property itself is okay but checking in they gave us the wrong room key and we went into an occupied room then later at night the key stopped working so I had to be dragging my small kids up and down floors getting everything situated, and the staff didn’t do anything to apologize for all the inconveniences. I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott recently and overall, it was an okay experience. The hotel itself is well-located with plenty of food options nearby, and I appreciated the hot tub, which was a nice way to relax.

However, there were a few issues that impacted my stay. The staff didn’t seem particularly friendly or helpful when I called about a few things in the room. For example, I had only two towels for a room with three guests and only one roll of toilet paper. The conditioner was empty when I tried to use it, which was inconvenient. The pillows were uncomfortable, and the room got uncomfortably warm even with the thermostat adjusted.

Additionally, the noise from the neighbors upstairs was quite disruptive. I called at 9pm about the loud noise, but was told nothing could be done until 10pm when “quiet time” started. Since I was recovering from surgery and had hoped for a quiet stay, this was disappointing.

Overall, the location and amenities like the hot tub were great, but I had a hard time with the service and room comfort. I’d rate it around 3 stars and would hope the staff and room maintenance could be improved in the future.
