I love this place. So cute and clean and reasonable priced! A little distance from downtown but nothing is really that far. My favorite part is the fresh coffee and pastries delivered to your door every morning. Highly recommend!!!
Samuel
Beautiful serene hotel very close to cal poly SLO. We enjoyed the Aesop amenities!
Natalia
The staff was very welcoming and room was spacious and clean. The complimentary breakfast was a nice surprise. The only thing we’d change is adding black-out curtains because the sunrise is rather bright through the shutters.
Susan
It was very clean and well maintained.
Candice
We really loved our experience here. We only stayed one night, but it was quiet and very comfortable.
robert
Truthfully this is a nice little motel off the highway that has been updated. No pool, not even an outdoor sitting area. Just a room with no view except a parking lot and building accross. Sadly Michelin has started ratings and creates totally false expectations of what this motel is not. Staff, one girl is very nice. Windows do not open. Not walking distance to shops etc. it’s just an overpriced simple motel room nicely decorated. Don’t expect anything more at all. When we went to our room I saw another couple opening there door amazed as well. They two were duped by the Michelin rating.

Cute! Loved the coffee and pastries they delivered in the morning.

This is a nice, convenient property. I’ve stayed in this property with the prior ownership, as well. The finishes are nice. The coffee pot and “coffee pods” were ridiculous. The hours of the registration office are inconvenient, opening at 730am. They had coffee & tea in the lobby along with a really odd type of alcohol. Like a cream based Amaretto or something. If you’re going cream based, why not Baileys? Formerly, they had a sit down breakfast. Now, they deliver a thermos without creams of any sort and a pastry in a bag without silverware which were flaky and messy to eat in the car. I’m really surprised they were awarded a Michelin star, but good for them!
Bella
Everything was great except the quality of toilet paper
Andrew
We stayed there prepandemic. The breakfast then was great. Now it's a bag of stuff hung on the door knob. Staff is not helpful. The place needs some maintensnce. Nice area but we won't be back. Too bad.
Marvin
The location was good. Bathroom was spacious. Bed was too soft.
Room was clean but our location was low and dark.
TV claimed free Direct TV on demand but it didn’t work.
Front desk was understaffed.
Parking was difficult.

Great place to stay, very satisfying, staff is super friendly and they serve morning coffee with fresh croissants. Highly recommend!
Belinda
I had an amazing stay here! The staff were very friendly, amenities fantastic, and the room was wonderful! The linens and towels were the best I have ever felt! I will be staying here again when I visit my son!
Kathleen
Lovely quiet hotel. Breakfast delivery of fresh pastry and coffee was a treat. Very clean and comfortable.
Monica
Cute room with a fireplace but very small with no place to sit & eat the yummy breakfast pastries they provide. Great shower with soft, fresh towels & nice bedding too. No outdoor area anywhere on the property to sit outside but it was very clean & the staff was nice. We ate across the street at The Schoolyard which was surprisingly good & they have a great outdoor area with firepits & GIANT Scrabble & Lite Brite!
Carlota
Clean room, super confertable beds and excellent breakfast.
adam
I loved the little tote bag of pastries and coffee they bring round every morning.

Loved the place great coffee and pastry service clean room and great products
Amy
Cute hotel, staff was earnest, excellent shower, comfortable beds, great coffee and pastries delivered to door every morning. BUT, the upgraded room had nowhere to eat the pasties (unless the desk facing the wall). Only one chair, no side table, and larger expanse of wasted space. The refrigerator is a “cooler” that keeps items at “same temp”. Well the temp was warm. We let them know 3 times and got these answer. After changing rooms to a level down, we had a cooler that did cool the drinks, a side table w two chairs and an overall way better space. For the price of the premium room on a weekend, we we’re disappointed with how they handled our concerns. Would I stay here again…most likely since I know which room to ask for.
Anabel
We had a very relaxing stay at SLCL a quiet safe place to stay the night rooms are clean and spacious we will be returning next year very lovely place.
Sue
All the special touches ie. Coffee, muffins delivery goodbye caramels make this an exceptional property
Francesca
The room was a great size, with a huge shower. Lovely pastries and coffee delivered to the room for breakfast
Daniela
A/C worked but the room felt cold even with our adjustments to it.
Towels were old, rugs dirty, doors dirty, small fridge didn't keep anything cold.
Staff was froendly but property needs touch-ups.

Clean, quiet, very confortable room and shower and friendly and helpful staff. It was like being wrapped in a cocoon.

All was just as it should be !!!
Margaret
It’s such a darling hotel and well decorated I so appreciate the yummy breakfast on the doorknob. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is great. The bathrooms need updating - and this time our showers were juts lukewarm. Bummer because their shower pressure is usually great - and I look forward to that!

Everything about this place is classy and warm. Loved the stay and will come again.
Tracy
Excellent reception and check out; spacious room and bath, excellent housekeeping, plus lovely courtesy coffee and danish each morning brought to your room and speciality chocolate at checkout. Thank you for making my family feel so welcome.
Matthew
Everything about this place is fabulous. The amenities are best ever. Aesop soaps and lotion are so nice. Morning coffee and pastries delivered are my favorite part. Front desk staff are fantastic (Eli and Cava this time). Love this place!
Colleen
We always love our stays at San Luis Creek Lodge. Very comfortable and love the complimentary breakfast treats delivered each morning as part of our stay. We look forward to our next visit!
Stephanie
Yes room was nice and clean- fireplace was not working- it turned on but then it turned off after a minute
Andrew
Loveliest place!
Gabrielle
The amenities in this place make it worth it. The room was clean, and a fresh breakfast was delivered every morning. What more could a guest want?
Nikolas
Nice, subtle but well appointed room. Very comfortable bed and bedding. Staff was very helpful and professional. Pastries and coffee at the door each morning quickly became highly anticipated. Walkable to downtown if you really wanted to but there were some nearby spots to eat/ hang out if you wanted something close. Easily accessible. Would definitely stay again.
manilyn
Everything ! Staff were welcoming and nice. Love the extra details from coffee and pastries to the farewell treat. Also love the Aseop products and how spacious the room was.

This felt like a cozy, lovely Inn experience.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The lodge was beautiful and well managed. Quick, friendly check in, daily coffee and fresh pastry delivered every morning. Since we used Expedia, we were given a bottle of champagne when we checked in.

Beautiful large, clean rooms, well decorated, thoughtful amenities. Wish we'd had longer to stay!

Looks like a great place but is definitely not. Our room was disgustingly dirty. A/C didn’t work just made a super annoying noise all night. Dirty floors, mirrors and tile in the shower. Could be great but lacking in so many ways, almost beyond making a comeback. Won’t stay here again.

Also they felt the need to charge us a dog fee. Could be great but lacking in so many ways, almost beyond making a comeback. Won’t even think of staying here again.

Excellent Inn with beautiful decor, too of the line shampoo etc and comfy beds.
Middle building preferred. Rooms 9, 10, 11, 12.
Room to avoid - 17 as it is 2 feet sub terrain in the back building.
Fresh tasty coffee delivered but too sweet pastries delivered in the morning is a nice bonus. Bran muffin preferred!
Helpful staff.

Beautiful cozy room, great staff, good location, clean and modern.
Darren
The stay was just OK. The hotel seems like it was apartments that were converted to a lodge and the rooms overlook the parking lot and a very run down adjacent building. I did find it quite odd that they think 2 single croissants left hanging on the door in a sack in the morning is a “continental breakfast”. Seems a bit misleading. Personally I think there are better options for hotels in the area. This was the most expensive at nearly $500 per night and definitely was not worth the cost.
Steven
Service was great. Nice amenities too. Really enjoyed the fresh coffee and pastries delivered to the room each morning. The property is cute. We were told that it was remodeled back in 2019/2020 timeframe. You could still tell that the buildings were old. A little rough around the edges. Overall an enjoyable stay.
Suzanne
Very comfortable room with a king bed and fireplace. The lodge is dog friendly, but didn’t know we had to climb flights of stairs to get to our room. Warning for early morning coffee drinkers, there is no in-room coffee maker. Instead, they delivered yummy pastries with a thermos of coffee to your door at 7:30 am. The location is right off the freeway, minutes to the Cal Poly entrance.
Courtney
The room is so cute! Bathroom and shower are gorgeous. The daily complimentary room service hot coffee and pastries were a very special touch! I would def stay here again!
Lisa
No elevators, not great for older adults with mobility difficulties. The only full body mirror inside the closet and the closet door is self-closing… No coffee machine. The refrigerator does not cool -not great if you need to store wine or medication. No on-site gym. Scant information given at check in (like the little rope inside the room that helps keep the bathroom door open to let the steam out -the exhaust fan doesn’t work that well, is actually the “do not disturb” sign.
Erin
Cute, charming, nice decor and desirable location.
Kalea
The room was clean and well curated. Service from the front desk was great and the property was well kept.
Dana
This was my 4th stay here in 6 months-each time has been so easy. My room was ready when I arrived early, everything was in good working order, the staff is always friendly. My only request would be for the property to add cosmetic mirrors and full length mirrors to the guest rooms. Aside from that, nothing but compliments.
Deardra
Great airy rooms with large bathroom and comfy beds. Great morning coffe and pastries delivered each morning. Quiet property and well maintained.
ari
This hotel nailed all the little details! From the upscale soaps to the complimentary tote bag full of coffee and fresh parties on your door knob in the morning, this place is crushing it. While the hotel doesn't have many amenities, the details and customer service were quite memorable. We'll be back!
Ladislaus
Very well appointed with newly renovated room and nice fluffy sheets.
Kenneth
Comfortable room. Great amenities.
Dana
This was my 3rd time to stay here and it is consistently a charming and great experience. I’ll be back next month!
Steve
I used to really enjoy staying here but it’s no longer well managed. Each of the three days I stayed here I was locked out of my room after the room keys quit working. Then, one day I spilled some water on the floor, only to discover that the floors in both the room and bathroom were filthy (the towel I used to wipe up the water was black afterwards). San Luis has a lot of hotel options available, there’s really no excuse for what I experienced at the San Luis Creek Lodge.
Angela and David
Nice staff, wonderful morning pastries, and nice attention to high end snacks and drinks in the room.
Linda
As someone in hospitality, I appreciate thoughtful service and well-executed details—but I’m also particularly sensitive to missteps. My recent stay had several standout moments, but also a few disappointments.
The hotel is charming, with a boutique aesthetic.
Our room was clean, with nice water pressure, and luxurious bathroom amenities. The front desk staff was friendly, and I appreciated the convenience of text-based communication.
One of the loveliest touches was the morning delivery of a thermos of coffee and pastries hung on our door. Unfortunately, we didn’t know this was part of the experience and only discovered it as we were leaving. Had we known, we would’ve enjoyed it more leisurely.
Where they fell short: A laundry cart remained outside our room during our entire stay, which detracted from the overall presentation.
The room was dark, even in the afternoon.
Though our room overlooked the SLO creek, there was no balcony or seating area to enjoy the view. Indeed there was no comfortable place to relax other than the bed, which made it hard to unwind. There was an ice machine, but no accessible water source. When we asked at the front desk, we were directed to a local mini mart. A water dispenser in the lobby or near the ice machine would have helped. Ultimately the biggest dealbreaker was the noise. I could hear every footstep from the room above and every conversation outside. Unfortunately, that lack of sound insulation made restful sleep impossible.

Lovely large room with super comfy bed. Would have preferred a true continental breakfast rather than just a couple of meh pastries delivered at 7am. Coffee was good! Love the overall decor of this property! We highly recommend!

Wonderful Accommodations
Great place. Clean, quiet, comfortable. Bonus morning coffee and danish delivery to room.

California coastal chic gem with special amenities
This little inn in San Luis Obispo is a gem! It's been fully redecorated in a fabulous California coastal, organic modern style. The location provides easy access to the quaint downtown, Cal Poly SLO campus, and a short drive to Avila Beach. The property has thoughtful, delightful, well curated amenities, such as bikes/helmets for rides around town, fresh local coffee and pastries delivered outside your door each morning, high-end curated in-room snacks and beverages, and Aesop personal care products. Most importantly the bed was comfortable and supportive!

If you can’t do stairs too well, let them know ahead of time. We were put in a room where you have to climb a flight of stairs, with your luggage. We are seniors and my husband has mobility issues, so this wasn’t ideal.

Fabulous small hotel in a great location.

I found the lodge to be lovely. The room was spacious and having the coffee and delicious pastries brought to your room was a nice touch.
Yvonne
Loved staying here! And they deliver freshly brewed coffee and pastries right to your door every morning. Such a charming boutique hotel. Would definitely stay here again!
Beth
It's perfection for a 3-star hotel. Little details mean so much. Free champagne, jazz music playing, fireplace, great A/C, beautiful bathroom and super comfy beds. We will be back every time we are in the area.
James
Beautiful room and decor - amazing small touches like delivering coffee and pastries in the morning, leaving a great note for mindful meditation, and a departing gift of sweets. Only thing missing was a pool but other than that, a perfect place to stay. Thank you to all the kind and helpful staff!
Nicole
From the warm welcome from Sean to our thoughtful departure treat, our stay felt perfectly arranged. My daughter and I experienced pure tranquility in our room with a simple elegance that relaxed our senses and provided exactly what we needed to calm our souls.

Quaint motel with wonderful service. Rooms were quite large. We loved the morning delivery of coffee and pastries.

Hotel was cute; newly renovated. Staff was extremely friendly. Breakfast coffee and pastries brought to your door every morning was a nice touch. Only complaint…they need to upgrade the smart TVs in the room.
Renee
Friendly staff. Great property. Reasonable price.
Anita
It was great however I would say that the water in the shower wasn't' quite hot enough. That could be an eco-feature?
Gina
Everything was excellent. Staff went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful.

Nice property very close to campus. Rooms were very nice with a large bathroom and walk in shower. Beds were very large and comfy. In room fireplace but we did not use it. It could use a small table for some counter space but nice place overall. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and anything else we needed. Check in and out was a breeze. We walked to downtown area but it is a long walk.

This is a smaller hotel, our room had two queen beds and it was spacious and clean, beds were comfortable. Breakfast was dropped off in a tote bag at 7:30 by our door with muffins, croissants, and a thermos of coffee. I think I would like to have maybe some fruit or yogurt instead of more pastries since one muffin was plenty.

Property was lovely. Best view of the gorgeous SLO peaks. The coffee and pastries delivered to our door was a thoughtful touch. Highly recommend this boutique inn.
