This was the worst hotel check-in experience I have ever had.
My family and I arrived just before 11:00 p.m. on a Sunday after booking through Expedia. We were traveling with tired children and expected a routine check-in. Instead, we were met by a manager who claimed to also be the owner and who was incredibly aggressive, rude, and unprofessional.
The issue was a simple misunderstanding. We were never informed during the booking process that check-in was not allowed after 10:00 p.m. That restriction was not stated anywhere in our Expedia reservation. I calmly tried to show him our booking confirmation to explain that we had no way of knowing about this cutoff time, but he immediately dismissed us and even said he \"didn't care.\"
To make matters worse, he suddenly demanded an additional surcharge for a late check-in, even though this fee was not disclosed anywhere in the booking information. Instead of trying to resolve the situation or show any understanding, he was confrontational from the start.
In the end, we left and booked another hotel at a higher price, wasting both our time and money after a long day of travel.
Someone with this attitude should not be in the hospitality business. The manager claimed to have 25 years of experience, but based on how he treated paying guests, that experience certainly did not translate into professionalism, courtesy, or customer service.
I would strongly recommend that travelers look elsewhere if they expect to be treated respectf

This is why i will never stay at the Bay View Inn Morro bay again my honest opion Guy at front desk check in was unprofessional and rude Room was no better then stinky Motel 6 and at least 60 dollars more carpets dirty poor water Pressure and i say a roach in the room and we had to park on the street because the lot was full. I would avoid this Bay View Inn at Morro bay and just go some where else and save money I might as well have stay down the street and saved almost 100 dollars. The Bay View is a great location (walking is faster than driving) to the shops and the docks. Morro Rock and the beach are less than a mile away. The seals have a sunning dock 2 blocks from the Inn, you can hear them from the Inn. The staff were very kind and the room was large and clean. Very nice place.

The check in clerk was horrible and rude. Cancelled friends room before he checked in because Hotels.com used the wrong CC info to hold room. Clerk personally did this without a phonecall. Clerk told him all of this with a straight face and zero remorse. If he was the owner or manager, he really needs to decide if he needs to quit or sell, because he really doesn't want to be in hospitality.
Friend ended staying 15 mins away in a Motel 6 in SLO for half the price. Same quality room.
My fridge was humming and clicking all night. On par with most motels, but pricing is 40% higher. Stay further away at a Motel 6 and be less disappointed.

Check in went smooth, staff was very friendly, parking was good. The hotel is walking distance to the main street in Morro Bay which is perfect for our family. The hotel grounds were clean, but our hotel room was dirty. The carpet in our room was filthy. The chairs were filthy. The headboards were filthy. The bathroom had run out of hand soap. The towels were rough, but we expected that. I can handle outdated, but I cannot handle a dirty room. Our socks were filthy within minutes. We did not go barefoot at all.

Room was clean. Staff was helpful with my TV remote bc it wasn't working. The only thing is that the room smelled ok when you first get it but sitting in the room for a few hours you can start smelling the cigarettes' smell. I couldn't sleep because of only because of that it ending up being so strong. Like the room could use some airing out. Next time I will ask for non smoking room. I would stay here again! I loved it. Its just right across the street from everything. Only took less than 5 mins to walk to everything. Once you step out the hotel parking lot you can see ocean view. I didn't have a problem with parking. The shower was nice and warm.

It was clean. Unfortunately the blinds were not in great condition so it allowed for too much light to come through and the shower kept leaking and it was loud at night.

The location was very good and just couple of mins walk to the morrobay deck. Room was clean, spacious, excellent bay view from the window. Only concern was, the mini fridge was not working and the coffee maker was not clean. I dint complain about that to the staff as I dint really use them. I definitely recommend this place.

We had an overall okay stay this past weekend. It was so close to the bay with walking distance and it was so convenient. However, the room we had smelled like cigarettes even though we requested for a non smoking room. Downside they don't have breakfast on site and parking can become limited and sometimes will half to park on the street if you get there late.

The room is very large and was very clean. I called a few hours on the day of my check in reservation to ask for a downstairs room and Paul (management) was accommodating. Staff was friendly. Only about 2 blocks away from downtown.

And walking distance from the rock and the beach if you don't mind a little stroll (less than a mile away). The property is clean and not outdated, parking is easy and convenient, the room is spacious and the staff is friendly.

I had a wonderful 3 day stay at Bay View Inn. Excellent location, walking distance to many of the great beautiful natural areas of Morro Bay, lovely shops, and excellent restaurants. The room was very clean and set up well, including a mini refrig, micro, and coffee pot. There is an ice machine on site. There are two nice little deck areas overlooking the famous rock, great for relaxing, having breakfast, snacks, or star gazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. Paul receptionist and seemingly general manager was very accommodating and a pleasure to work with. I would gladly return for another stay.

Room smell like cigarette smoke and also musty. Maybe taking the carpet out will eliminate the horrible smell. I’m a non smoker so it was gross. I went to the store to buy carpet deodorizer and Lysol to mask the smell but it didn’t work. Maybe I should have asked for a non smoking room. Other than that it was nice.

froze in the night. had the heater set to 89 degrees but the a/c was still on. and the water pressure/flow in the shower was the worst i have ever seen. also had to park down the street as there was not enough parking for all guests. we stay here once a year but probably not again. room was clean.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Bay View Inn. The location is excellent. Only two blocks from the Embarcadero, this Inn was quiet except for being awakened by sea lions. There is no elevator, but it was worth it to stay upstairs for the view, although public patios on both floors had great views and a chance to meet other guests. The staff was kind and helpful. The rooms were very clean. I recommend this Inn highly.

Room was great, spacious and clean. Host was great. People living there were scuzzy, and the outside carpets in the lower levels smelled like urine. The view was a 10. Had potential but definitely rough on the outside for someone wanting to enjoy they're time by the coast.

I was looking to get an email confirming my reservation but because I never received an email I thought the reservation didn't go through so I booked at another hotel in Morro Bay. When I checked my voicemail the morning of November 29th I had a message asking I was going to check in. It was then 9:30 pm when voicemail was left. I was still charged for the stay and have not been a to talk with a live agent

How this hotel received a rating over 8 I’ll never understand. We only intended to stay one night so it met our need but it was not a nice place for the night. The room was not clean, there was a dingy odor, and I didn’t even want to walk barefoot on the carpet. The bathroom was decent but the tub valve leaked all night. We had an early morning planned but were woken by the upstairs neighbors beginning their day in a very noisy fashion. It’s hard to find a nice hotel for a decent price, but we left very disappointed and will not be returning to this place.

Perfect location! Central to everything. Can go on Embarcadero or Morro Bay Blvd for food or shopping. It's a steep hill so you get a beautiful view of the rock as you walk down. Got the ocean view so had a beautiful breeze. There are overhead cables throughout town which is a bummer - I wish all cities were able to put their wires underground to keep the views clean. The screens were busted but wasn't an issue since the bugs are just on the sand. It's not fancy, but clean and well maintained. They have soap and conditioning shampoo dispensers attached to the wall by the sink and in the shower which I appreciate as I hate all the plastic packaging for bar soaps.

This was a nice motel close to the Embarcadero. Morro Rock is visible from the second story outdoor area. Nothing fancy but a mini frig and microwave are essential for me. No elevator so if you have limited mobility (I recently had a knee replacement), be sure the room you book is on the first floor. I had to downgrade from a King bed on the second floor to a Queen bed on the first floor but didn’t receive a refund because it was prepaid. Live and learn.
