The gentleman who checked us in was very polite and efficient. Unfortunately, his friendliness and the cleanliness of the room didn’t make up for the thin walls and ceilings. The place is older and on a busy street so we could easily hear noises from other rooms, outside our room, as well as the sea gulls roosting atop the roof. Throughout the night, we were awoken multiple times by outside noises. Not a great stay, though it is walkable to town and to the waterfront.

Had a good stay. Room was clean. Bed was good though a bit hard. The sheets were nice. You can really hear upstair people if you are in the first floor. I could hear their voice and they were loud walking back and forth. I assume the bedroom upstairs above was the same as mine anyway it seemed like too many people in the room above me sounded like at least a husband and wife and more than one kid so it was pretty noisy until they finally went to bed. I had to wait to go to bed. And then it was quiet overnight and I got up before they got up. It was just for one night. They definitely need to put in new televisions! Very cheap quality small TV with horrible sound quality. Convenient location parking close to rooms.

The property is close to all the local places.neighborhood people are friendly.
The receptionist was welcoming. The housekeeping was very kind.
I requested an extra couple of pillows, that was not made available. We had a concern about the cleanliness of the curtains.
Overall, It was good.

We arrived at 12:30AM after a long drive. The staff assisted us with getting room keys! Clean room and the bed was very comfortable. And they are about a 10 minute walk away from where you can see otters in the bag. Great stay!

I paid for a better room with a balcony facing the bay, which is 3 blocks away. The problem is there’s a 24 hr self car wash across the street which was very loud and used at all hours, which broke the peaceful vibe.

Great little motel - 2 min walk to the harbor. -Walking distance to restaurants and vintage shops.

-Great hospitality from staff.

-My room had a nice partial view of the rock and water.

Suggestions for a better unobstructed view
1) trim the city trees for a better view. 2) remove the window slats.

Thanks!

Ok place to stay for a quick overnight trip.Hotel is old and a bit tired the furniture worn but the bed was comfortable.
A bit grossed out by hair left in the bathroom. Relatively inexpensive and good location but too many other hotels to stay here again.

CONS 1. I don't like carpet in a hotel room 2. The drain in the shower was slow to drain and came back up (gross). So I had to stop the shower lather up and turn back on to rinse. 3. No YouTube (we watch old movies and other things on there 4. We watch Fox news and it had no sound. Kind of weird to us. Every other station had sound. So if course we couldn't watch that station.
PROS. 1. microwave 2. High ceiling 3. Bed was comfy but bedding looks old. 4. The lady at the desk was so friendly. I'm not sure if I would stay again.

Plenty of well-lit parking. Room was very clean and adequate, except the air conditioner did not work. Night manager could not fix it. So room got stuffy and warm (ground floor so I don't leave windows open). Didn't sleep well. No one in the office at 8 a.m. for check-out, so I could not tell anyone to fix it.

The view was amazing! Just a hop, skip and a jump from all the shops.

The owner was very friendly and super sown to earth. My family and I were very impressed with the room. Unlike the other places we've stayed at, Avalon Inn didn’t have people at all hours of the night making noise, running up and down the hall, etc.

I would highly recommend this place. Definitely worth the price. We're definitely coming back!

Because I stayed more than one night.. the first room I was in was ground floor with a young child.. horrible…if you have anyone above you..
Informed the manager and they quickly handled the situation and moved me to an upstairs room. So great customer service and very clean room and property.

The room was clean and roomy. Check in was seamless and staff friendly. The only drawback was that the air conditioner would not stay on for any length of time and we were told this is a recurring problem, in part because the unit is inches away from a bed making the unit's thermostat think the room is cooler than it is. The remote for the television wasn't working and the young man at the front desk couldn't solve the problem, so he generously let us use the master remote. Would stay there again.

An Interesting Hotel

The good… location, comfortable beds, size of room.
The bad… The room was very noisy, from the traffic on the street to being able to hear the couple above us having s** above us for 20 minutes in the middle of the night (the bed sounded like sawing). The room was quite bright and the window coverings need to be thicker. The tile was very slick. The room needed a deep cleaning, there was a coat of dust on the ceiling fan. The room had an odd smell and the room needs updated, unscratched furniture.

Enjoyed our stay at Fireside Inn in Morro Bay.
The facility was safe, comfortable and clean.
The staff was delightful, helpful and friendly.
We'd stay here again without any question.
However, I would prefer NOT to stay in the same room abutting the electrical equipment room (104) which had a slight continuous buzzing noise from the buildings water heater system. It wasn't unpleasant just constant and it in fact didn't impair our great night of blissful sleep.
We definitely would recommend spending your time here!

Mediocre in Morro

It appears there are dozens of similar motels in Morro Bay to choose from. This one lacks towel racks in the bathroom and no closets, with not a single hangar for your clothes. The furniture is worn out and falling apart. It's ok for a night or two but don't expect much. On the plus side, saw hummingbirds from the room's small balcony. Low occupancy meant plenty of parking.

The staff were polite and helpful, though one night stay. The room was spacious but in serious need of updates. Paint peeling off the very inexpensive furniture. No freezer in the fridge and the toilet was not secured to the floor.

This hotel should be a $60/night not $250.
It is old. I could hear noise form other rooms that kept me awake past 2am. The only good thing about it was the location. The bed was OK, (a bit hard).
