The room was really clean and the staff were lovely. Check in was very fast and easy and the staff all spoke very good English which was very helpful! However, unfortunately the area around the hotel felt very unsafe. Lots of homeless people and immigrants around the local area, near the central station. We felt like we only felt safe once we got into our hotel room. Evenings and night time felt especially unsafe.

The elevator has been broken since June.. when I inquired as to why it was still broken I was told it was the cost of repair. So there is NO plan to repair it. I was on the second floor which is 55 steps from the lobby …. Carrying a 55lb suitcase. EXPEDIA is also responsible… the should be REQUIRED to post it BEFORE being available to book it. It’s a SAFETY issue. Now I don’t trust Expedia either. All Expedia wants is the commission… for doing NOTHING.

We booked for three days. The elevator was not working, and it was difficult for my husband, who uses crutches, and no one seemed to help carry the luggage. The room was very stuffy, so we had to open the window. No hair dryer was available, and the showerhead needs to be changed.
Close to the train station, but it is quite far from the old town.

It has two sides

I have stayed here a couple of times before and greatly enjoyed the older but very good condition of the property (except the elevator that doesn’t work).
This time, however, we were put in a room that could only be called shabby….the rug, the curtains, and the table in particular, were just that.
The bed was comfortable. Everything including the bathroom was clean, the halls and downstairs fine.
It still is very convenient to the main train station.

The elevator in the hotel was out of order for our 7-night stay.
The refrigerator in my room did not work.
The hotel did not have air conditioning. We could open the windows, but there were no screens, so the mosquitoes came in. Trying to sleep while swatting at mosquitos does not make for a good night’s sleep.
When we booked the hotel, we wanted breakfast to be included. When we got there, we found this meant that breakfast was available for a fee.
The hotel was not in a desirable part of Frankfurt.
The bathroom was small but adequate.
The hotel was clean, and the room was taken care of every day.

Elevator broke down not fixed (at least during our 3nts 4day stay), we had to drag and carry our luggage upstairs and downstairs, luckily a young guest helped us carry the luggage downstairs during checkout.
No coffee maker nor water kettle or telephone in room.
Room temperature couldn't be adjusted , when we complained about the temperature was too cold at night to the front desk, the response we received from the male receptionist was: "the house keeping will clean your room in 2 hours" . Everyday we went downstairs passing by the front desk, we greeted the front desk receptionist"good morning " as our usual tradition but only received a cold face staring at us. The time we checked out, we were left unattended for exactly 10 minutes, no one was ahead of us. That receptionist was just doing his own chore and let us waiting.
Imaging if you were in a hurry trying to catch a train that was about to leave?!!
The only smile we received was from a lady receptionist at the time we checked in. We miss her very much!

The hotel was fine, clean basic accommodation. The lady who checked me in was very nice. My problem was I had to leave very early (~04:30) for an early flight. I came down to the well-lit lobby to check out and there was no one at the desk, though a coat was on the chair. I called out hello several times without response. Meanwhile a homeless person outside had noticed me and started rapping on the window and speaking what sounded like gibberish and then rang the bell for the main entrance. I thought that might at least get the attention of the porter. No luck. Fortunately, after a couple of minutes the person outside lost interest and wandered away. I made my exit passing several other people sleeping outside and made the short walk to the Bahnhof without incident.

Lift not working from many months

It was not good. As the lift was not working and the water was issue one day and others the water was not clean.The staff was not helpful at all.
We had to take all our bags to second floor where we were allotted the rooms.
I will never stay back there.

A seemingly little known gem!

I love this place... a little known gem with the older elegance of 14ft ceilings, chandeliers, double doors to the rooms, (elegant curtains!) and a big modern bathroom with a tub!
It is convenient... half a block from the main train station, on the quieter side towards the river. (I am 77 but feel safe here.) There is a big comfortable downstairs sitting area. Although on a main street, the windows are thick and keep out the noise. It serves a modest breakfast for 9 euros.
The down side is that the elevator doesn't work. There are hair dryers in the rooms but no coffee/tea pot in the rooms, if you feel you need it rather than having it downstairs in the dining room.

Didn’t find any flaws… booked two rooms and for two nights . Although the property looked old , still serve the purpose-able to sleep without the noise coming from outside, clean, very near the central station and the front desk is friendly and helpful.

After reading some concerning reviews about the hotel and the area I was a little apprehensive. Actually the man on reception couldn’t have been more helpful. The area is under development and can be a bit daunting walking from the station to the hotel but we were not bothered by anyone and did not see anything untoward that concerned us. It’s a great location with a 20minute walk along the river into the old town and brilliant location on a budget for the Christmas market. Like any major city they have their homeless challenges but do not let this put you off.

There are tram stops located within minutes and the main station is less than a 10 minute walk and in total about 25 minutes from FRA Airport with a ticket costing around 7 Euros.

All in all a great little budget hotel in a central location perfect for weekend visitors.

This place was under construction very noisy. Would have been nice if hotels.com had notified us of this and given us an option to change hotels. Very hot in the room had no view only of a fire escape with bird crap all over it. Elevator was out of order the dining room\bar was closed not a very nice hotel

A rather grand hotel built in 1898… a shame it’s no longer in its glory days…. The staff were nice and friendly…. Dispute the fact the rooms are meant to be non-smoking… I could smell that someone had smoked in the room at some stage.
Bed was comfortable. TV worked… bar fridge in room but no tea/coffee facilities.

Staff at the property were great. Has a restaurant on site, good wifi, lift was working, easy check in, walk 3 minutes to train station, room size was good. Rate I got was good but the location was a major issue especially after dark.
Hotel itself is very old, carpet in room was stained, paint chipped, temperature in room was difficult to adjust. Not in the hotels control but the area around the hotel is not good. Open drug use and dealing, homeless, pee smell all over. A few blocks away is much much better.

I don't recommend it!

Hotel in a very bad location, I didn't feel safe walking around the neighbourhood at night, people were constantly staring at us. I saw people looking out to identify approaching police. The hotel also doesn't have a car park, so if you arrive late you have to walk back to the hotel because you need to find a car park nearby. The hotel in general is very old, the room is very old, the blankets are extremely small for an adult, they don't seem to be 100% clean.

It was just what we needed for 2 nights. There was a huge difference between rooms. Room my dad had was very good, everything worked. My room, there was no light bulb in the desk lite.
Was not as clean or well lit.
But for the price was OK
There was a charge to to check in 2 hours early. We had an afternoon tour - so we paid an extra 10€ per room

The hotel was reasonably priced. easy to find and very convenient for transport links to the airport and Frankfurt Stadium, being very close to the main train station. Turning towards the river it was quiet and easy to walk to the museums. going the other way was much busier and not as nice being right by the station. The room was very clean and tidy but I couldn't get the safe to work and some of the fittings and fixtures were getting quite worn.

I had an issue with heating in the room (it was too cold) despite turning heating knob to the max, radiators didn't heat up. When i informed the hotel staff, the guy came fiddled with the radiators, and told me that it should heat up now. It never did.

No breakfast option at the hotel.

Quilts are too small (despite having a king size bed), they provided only 2 single sized quilts.

In the past I’ve said this place was a Diamond in the Rough, but no more. I’ve stayed here for the past twenty years and boasted about it to my friends because of the price and the wonderful breakfast and in room coffee.
Now 12/2022 the staff is unprofessional ,there is no more breakfasts, no in room coffee, bums sleep out front and poop; graffiti everywhere, gum and broken bottles scatter the sidewalk right in front of the entry.
This place must have changed ownership because this place is a dump. Their neon sign out front is even missing light bulbs.
I will never book or recommend this place to anyone ever.
Rooms: at least the bed was comfortable and clean. Toilet ran all night long,grease on the carpets, I can go on but don’t want to waste my vacation anymore on this declining hotel. It’s really kind of sad to see.

I stayed during March 2020 coronavirus time period and the hotel staff was so very kind. You see I had left for Ireland for one day but could not return to Germany due to the restrictions placed overnight. So my main luggage was still at the hotel and I paid to get a label to send it back to the United States. Youness was so kind to help me and get my luggage out of my room and put the customs documents and shipping label on it that I had purchased and emailed to him. The motel room was clean and the breakfast was excellent. This hotel is an excellent value for the money and the staff are extremely trustworthy.

The man at reception lied to my face. I requested an early checkin and he said the hotel is full due to the Trade Fair. NOT... there were eight empty rooms on my floor alone. I also checked Expedia for availability after getting to my room, there were many rooms available in all categories. I have stayed here for many years and since it changed from National Hotel to Cento National service is nonexistent... I would have been happy to pay for an early checkin. Hopefully, the manager will see this an contact me for specifics. I pulled up my history of stays here, and would love to share them. After this trip, I will return to their competitor Savoy, a half block away, last time I checked, Savoy Hotel was run and managed by Germans.

Good location opposite main train station and easy walk into city...but the area is very dirty and lots of down and outs hanging around constant beggars
Hotel breakfast was great and bedrooms very large and comfortable
No bar or restaurant as advertised this was one of the reasons we booked the hotel also we asked for extra pillows to no avail also staff didn’t seem bothered to help
Also in bedroom an information card advertised the fact the hotel had a vending machine for snacks alcohol soft drinks etc which is not the case
So much misinformation at this hotel
This hotel has gone past its set by date we don’t recommend this hotel

If you are looking for a clean bog standard hotel with NO parking then this is for you. Room was clean and tidy as was bathroom. Breakfast was fine, pretty much like every other place we have stayed. No room service or bar but there is a brilliant little Turkish place a little way down the road that sells Guinness and wine along with excellent pizzas.

Hard to find breakfast included. Pillows were extremely flat and no extras in room. But overall pretty nice room. We are frequent travelers to Europe and most rooms are not what most Americans are use too. But would recommend for fellow travelers. The elevator or (lift) is a bonus as well as a refrigerator in the room. Since ice is a rarity in Europe. Happy travels.

I hardly write any review. It is terribly run down hotel that i oblige to write . this hotel remains in the 90s, it is beside the main train station and the location environment is definitely not suitable for family, i don't even recommend for any single ladies. There is Mold start growing on shower point tiles joints areas, tub but with no water stopper on the drain point, shower-head adjuster is out of order. The SAFE are out of order, the cabinet are like going to fall down anytime, the fridge are not running (i am not sure to try if it works) but they are selling carbonated water on the table (Seriously, carbonated water without chilling), the pen provided are not with any caps, seem like it plug and play. The Curtain are very dusty. Carpet are stained. The singles bed already sink in the middle, the pillow cause my face to itch. The TV is ultra small with BBC not working (think it is 22 or 24 inch), there is not phone in the room, the internet connection given to 1 device, i.e. I can't connect to my ipad after i connect to my phone and yes, it is not fast but workable. There is a city tax charge to me, upon writing this review then i remember there isn't any receipt given to me, i.e. not prove i pay to the hotel and hotel to pay government. Lastly, i forgot, the breakfast sucks, personally and yes... the waiter is using the same napkin to clean every table and he will put into his pocket. He liberality dust away the table while other are eating breakfast.
