I had a wonderful stay at Tan Resorts. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, especially at check-in with a special room upgrade and a welcome tray. The evening shows were spectacular, and the pool area was pleasant. However, I did notice some damages in my assigned room that should have been addressed beforehand, so I suggest the hotel thoroughly inspects rooms before assigning them. At the beach, I was a bit disappointed—while the hotel has a private section, the area wasn’t as clean as I expected, and the shades were broken, so I had to find a spot to avoid direct sun. Also, the beach beverage service was slow, and there was a lack of clear signage between buffets, which led to some confusion. I suggest the hotel improve the beach upkeep, ensure better transport coordination, and expand activities beyond just the pool or evening shows. With thorough room inspections, motivating staff training, and more diverse offerings, this resort could be exceptional. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay, and I would recommend it with these improvements.

It is extremely disappointing that Expedia is promoting and selling packages to a property that is clearly rundown, outdated, and unprofessional. This experience has fallen far below any reasonable expectation for what was advertised.

I am especially frustrated that I paid for what was meant to be a memorable spring break trip for my son, only for it to be wasted at a resort that does not meet basic standards of quality or service.

The conditions at the property were unacceptable:
•The pools were visibly dirty
•The rooms had a persistent moldy odor
•Our room, in particular, reeked of cigarette smoke throughout the night
•The only meal we had at the resort (breakfast) was subpar and disappointing

Service was also inconsistent and, at times, unprofessional. While there were a couple of standout employees—specifically Rosemary and Ricardo—who made an effort to improve our experience, the majority of staff we encountered were unfriendly, unhelpful, and appeared disengaged.

For example, when we took the shuttle to the beach, we were immediately told by an employee, Emily, that despite being labeled as “VIP guests,” we were not allowed to eat or drink at the restaurant. This was both confusing and embarrassing. Fortunately, Ricardo stepped in to resolve the situation, but this kind of experience reflects a broader pattern everything felt unnecessarily difficult and poorly managed . Resort was beautiful, they upgraded our room to a 2 bedroom which was great for our family traveling with small baby. The food was excellent, and resort was quiet. Entertainment was in the evening and a great place for families with small kids. Staff was wonderful and super accommodating. Jose and his team was great- they loved our daughter like she was their own. Maria our butler was fantastic as well and very helpful. Only thing that was hard was taking shuttle to the beach with small child. But beach is very nice just not convenient for us.

The hotel is under new management again. Rooms hadn’t been properly cleaned, caught a glimpse inside the kitchen which explained why the food looked so awful so we walked out.

Terrible front desk people and supervisor they gave my room away and called it a no show when I was in communication with them letting them know I Would be checking in later due to the snow storm. I had to book something else last minute. They were completely not sympathetic about the situation and not trying to help. Johan promised he would authorize a refund. I’m yet to receive it.

I booked a Jr. suite, however was upgraded it seems. I had a huge apartment with balcony! Wonderful local food, entertainment, staff and there were shuttles to the beach every hour. The pool is maintained very well and I never had to fight for a seat by the pool. The property is very walkable. Stay here to really relax.

The very bad news. I stayed for 3 weeks and my review. If you like air conditioning working and smells like mold, thats if it works? You can be transferred to another suite and put up with sewer gas. I seemed to get blown off after change from one suite to the other. Extremely disappointed.
The decent part was employees (restaurant/poolbar) were good. The food was always good and hardly ate something twice besides breakfast

At the last minute, I booked a solo trip to Punta Cana for a much needed 4 days rest from the cold. My experience was very good!!. The resort is very secured and gated for a single woman traveling by herself. The downside to it is that you have to take THEIR taxis to get out of the resort because ubers cannot get in and of course you're a tourist, they charge twice and sometimes triple of what that ride could have cost you with uber. And the process to let somebody in or even a uber is a bit long so you would just give up and pay the price !!... My room was AMAZING and big. I was welcomed with a bottle of red wine and a plate of fruits in the room. It was clean and there was many ventilation options. The staff was nice and helpful. The drinks were okay but I've had better drinks in other resort. The buffet food was good but the restaurants were a bit dissapointing... It was redondant and very similar to what they give in the buffet and I was expecting more because when you go to restaurants \"a la carte\" its to have another experience. Plus, if you dont like to walk prepare to wait for the bellboys to bring you to each places because everything is a bit of a distance from the main lobby. Also, they have a shuttle that brings you back and forth to the beach, every hour. One thing I didn't understand though, is I asked for a late check out because I was flying super late, they refused but than accepted me to take a shower in another room before I left. The room was big, which was good. However, the resort is far from the beach. They provide transportation every hour, but the last shuttle is at 5 p.m., after which you have to take a taxi to return to the resort.

The resort details mention many restaurants, but only one buffet is included for free; the others require extra payment. I would rather pay for a place that is closer to the beach or offers 24/7 transportation access.

It gets tiring to eat at the same restaurant every day, even though they offer different kinds of food.

Our room was still under construction - dust everywhere, curtains not installed, cupboards missing handles, no coffee pot, no hair dryer, no bathroom fan, toilet didn't flush well, bathroom door locks didn't work. With that said - we had a rough start, but the owner treated our whole family to hydrotherapy at the spa. They did a deep clean, and we were able to be upgraded to a better room after our 2nd night. That room still had some issues - one of the showers leaked everywhere, but it was MUCH better! The communication in general and food/service weren't the best, but they seem like they're trying to make improvements. The whole resort is fairly quiet. The location is on the marina/bay - short walk to the ocean. The best swimmable beach is a short shuttle ride. The excursion through LONGITUDE TOURS was THE BEST PART!

The property is very clean and on the smaller side, which made it feel cozy and easy to get around. The staff were extremely kind and professional. The all-inclusive buffet was okay overall — the seafood was great, but some of the other food options could definitely be better.

We really loved the Italian restaurant, Bambino. There are also a few restaurants on the resort that you can pay for separately, and they’re worth it. Dolce Italia was amazing — great food, excellent desserts, and really good coffee.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Sports Illustrated Resort in Punta Cana, and I can confidently say it was one of the best resort experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, the vibe was energetic, welcoming, and unmistakably unique. The resort blends luxury with a sporty, active atmosphere in the most refreshing way.

The room was modern, spacious, and impeccably clean, with a stunning view of the Marina and palm-lined grounds. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I appreciated the little details—like premium toiletries, fast Wi-Fi, and a smart TV perfect for winding down after a beach day.

What really stood out to me was the energy of the resort. Whether you’re into beach volleyball, poolside games, or just lounging with a drink in hand, there's always something happening. The staff made the experience even better—super friendly, professional, and genuinely interested in making sure every guest was having a great time. Jhoan was especially great he made the check in process very smooth and always had a bright smile on his face! Lewis too!

The on-site restaurants offered a great variety of flavors—from local favorites to international dishes—and everything I tried was fresh and delicious. The breakfast buffet in particular was a daily highlight!

This place was an absolute joke, TERRIBLE customer service besides ONE employee, Alvi. Employees speak next to zero English, the lobby bar area was disgusting and stunk like they’ve never changed their mops or mop water. The golf cart rental for $50/day was a rip off too, we literally broke down on 3 different golf carts and had to find our own way back to the resort each time. The Pool was clean and nice, but the bar drinks were very lack luster and you just drank whatever they gave you because they didn’t understand English when you ordered. The cups and straws were all paper and don’t hold up in the sun/heat/water. For being an all-inclusive place, it’s an absolute joke and rip off, and I am not one to complain. Our one room villa was good though, and nice layout. I definitely do NOT recommend this place one bit…. Thankfully there was Marina restaurants down the street for us to walk to and eat and drink at, that were high end and clean.

I’d say this was our worst ever hotel experience and we are platinum members and we travel about 75-100 days a year.

I love the design of the property. It gives you the Spanish feel!! Beautiful peaceful place. From the time I checked in I was greeted by Lewis and was upgraded to the most beautiful roof top villa. The private pool was a great touch! Alvi was the sweetest and made sure to book my spa appointment with Time Out spa, which is right on property! The Spa was awesome because Alissa made it relaxing and enjoyable! (might have her name wrong). I felt safe and everything was there for me right on property including a boat ride/snorkeling & swimming in the ocean. What I loved the most was how they keep to their culture on this resort- from food and style- Dominican night was phenomenal with great Dominican cuisines! Every night the food was delicious! The waiter, Yoscal and a few other young men gave amazing service and their attention to detail and service was 5 star!

My only complaint would be I wish they didn’t have dogs on the property, some of the barking was annoying but the good news is the property is kept so clean.

I will definitely return here and would recommend this place, specially to those looking to relax

One of the only things I didnt like was there was no direct access to a beach without relying on transport. I would have liked to take a walk to the beach and walk back to resort. Other than that, the staff was incredible. Very helpful and friendly. My room was incredibly with an impeccable view of the marina. Room was constantly cleaned and always smelled amazing. My bartenders were great, so also my servers at The Bullpen. Would definitely visit again. It was my first time in DR, and I know what to expect for next time.

The property was nice. It was clean all the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Lewis the Butler was very understanding and communicative about our stay. The employees there accommodated us with everything that we needed. The view from our hotel was very nice every day the maid cleaned our room and restocked their fridge. I don’t have any complaints about staying here. Since this hotel is a part of the marina. There is a gated community that doesn’t allow anybody in unless they have a purpose or they’re staying there. I felt safe walking around at night. I would love to come here again and enjoy the time with my family. The beach is about 10 minutes away, and they do provide transport every hour if you don’t have a car. There are many food choices here as well.
There’s a couple restaurants around the hotel that you can eat at and they do provide you with food they give you two choices every night to eat. Overall, our stay was fantastic and I would recommend anybody to stay here if they want something quiet and family oriented.

The resort is quiet, not crowded. Alvi, the concierge was very helpful and attentive. The young lady that worked at the pool side yard was friendly and attentive to the all the customers. The young man 3:30pm Bingo games was funny and interactive. The food was ok. The breakfast was the same throughout our stay. Housekeeping would come at odd hours often times we were back from an excursion when the housekeeper would come to clean. We cancel the room cleaning several times as we were tired from being out in the sun all day and just wanted to relax. The internet was awful. We lost phone and internet connection for an entire day until the techs came to fix the problem but they too came after 6:00pm. There was no beach on site but they did provide a shuttle van that would take the customers to Juanillo beach. We went to Scape Park and that was really fun. Lastly, we were grateful for the late check out. I would rate this resort 8.

First things first…..there were NO WASH CLOTHS my entire stay!! I asked over 3 times for wash cloths and never received them the entire time I was there. The operator doesnt answer the phone after a certain time. They advise that we use WhatsApp and they still weren’t responding. Since Our room was on the 5th floor and we could not walk to the lobby, we needed a cart to driv us back and forth. They never answered the lobby phone so one night we literally had to was stuck in the room with no food or anything. Just horrible. Alvi was our concierge and she was nice but things still wasn’t getting done. One thing I can say is, the beach was amazing !!! And I really enjoyed my massage at the spa. That’s about it. I won’t go back to this resort that’s for sure

The property landscaping was in fantastic repair and always maintained its beauty. Entertainment was fun as well as the beach access to and from the hotel.

I definitely will be back when I’m back in Punta Cana.

Nice hotel, but terrible management

Check in process was a disaster, they gave us a room 3 hours later with no information. The manager was really rude and gave us a really bad first impression.
Thankfully during the stay the staff from the restaurant/bar and another lady that works at the reception helped us a lot and were very friendly.
Hotel is nice and quiet, but far from the main resorts.

Other than the horrible food poisoning I got from one of the all-inclusive restaurants on my last evening at the Sports Illustrated Resort in Cap Cana, Punta Cana, my vacation was great. It is one of the most beautiful places and grounds, as well as pools you will find anywhere. Just be wary of what you eat.

My food poisoning started after eating dinner at the Bambino Italian Restaurant, which is part of the Sports illustrated Villas and Resort complex. I knew something wasn’t right by the end of my meal and barely made it back to my room. I traveled solo and even tried to contact the front desk multiple times while sick thinking I may have to go to the hospital. Unfortunately, no one was picking up the phone in the lobby during my multiple attempts. Thank God I’m okay now (just wiped out, still very queasy, and exhausted from the dehydration), but the beauty of the grounds and Cap Cana in general is what I will hold on to.

This was my 1st international trip. Was amazing. Overall I enjoyed EVERYONE. so helpful. Gonna break it up by pros & cons.
Pros:1. BEAUTIFUL property
2. Great & friendly staff
3. Property overall tranquil & relaxing
4.Good food selection.
5. Each night buffet set up was NICE.
6.ROOMS were so clean..My villa nice
7. Staff cleaned everyday & refilled fridge & tidy up my room. Perfect job. On point.
8.Property felt safe to walk.
9. Wait staff went above & beyond. Made me special surprise for my birthday
10. Bed was TOO comfortable.
11. View of the property nice & great overall layout of the hotel.
12. Front desk were accommodating.

Cons (very few)
1. Area to my villa not well lit dark on walking paths.
2. Some mold on properties buildings but not too bad. Its a HUMID country
3. Some just a few of staff didnt speak enough English to communicate.
4. Not alot of shops alot of empty spaces.
5. Prices for SIMPLE food @ shops are HIGH.
6.I just didnt want to come home too peaceful.
7. This hotel sppiled me because ended up having stay @ different hotel flight got cancelled

Fiancé and I really loved our stay here, the staff was amazing, specially our concierge Alvi that made us feel at home and heard every step of the way with all our needs. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing environment that is also pet friendly.
