They have equipment available for a beach day (coolers, chairs, snorkels, etc.), free parking, lovely happy hour to enjoy and meet the other guests, and a refreshing pool to end your day. A tropical storm/hurricane impacted our stay at a VRBO on the east side of St John. The house was getting closed up so we had to leave and find a hotel. St John's Inn had a room. The staff couldn't have been more helpful but couldn't help the power outage. Oh well, they did their best and we are grateful. Even though it's a 2- star hotel, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again:)

The Inn does a pretty good job of taking care of the place, they just don't have the ability to take care of places in the neighborhood, which are a bit run-down. It is an island community, so it is a relaxed environment.

The location is amazing! Close to shopping, grocery stores, and restaurants. The staff are wonderful and make you feel welcome, chat, and answer questions about the area. The inn is older, funky and had all the amenities we needed. Breakfast was great-bagels, English muffins, cereal, juice, coffee, milk, and apples. The water is drinkable. We appreciated the ice cold water after walks! Rum punch happy hr was appreciated. They offer coolers, beach chairs, towels, and floaties. They have a take leave area for sunscreen-bug spray which is great. The pool is cool, clean, and a peaceful pleasant area with plants and a bathroom. They do have parking. Air conditioning is great! It is the BEST value I found for amenities and price on the island. If you are looking for a bougie resort this isn’t it, if you want a great value, comfortable bed, awesome location, and quirky- fun atmosphere this is for you! I also enjoyed having a suite room (Cruz bay) which had a full oven, microwave, full size fridge. My only advice is to prepare yourself for the very steep hills (great cardio) and very sharp curves if driving the island! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

A fun, quirky place to stay. Perfect for our St John experience. It's not a fancy, modern hotel experience, so if you are looking for that go elsewhere. The rooms are clean and comfy, but unconventional. We really liked being able to use the library of books and maps and beach gear (chairs, coolers, towels, snorkel equip) for our play time, and love that they have \"leftover lotion and bug spray\" available for guest use. Why throw away a perfectly good, mostly full bottle of product when another guest leaves it because they don't want to pack it on the plane? Staff was very friendly and helpful and great to chat with. We also enjoyed being able to interact with other guests around breakfast and rum punch. The neighborhood is working class, but safe. Easy walking to Cruz Bay shopping and dining. Only complaint would be that the bed was not very comfortable, but overall it was a nice place and a great experience. Would go back in a heartbeat!

All of the employees/owners are great and very flexible. We went to multiple hotels throughout our trip and this was the most flexible and communicative hotel we stayed at! Room is spacious and has a couch/tv area. It is also located close to town - as long as you are comfortable walking 1/2 a mile, it’s very easy to get a taxi. It is pricer in general but affordable for St John!

Pros: Staff was super nice. We showed up early and were greeted by Michael. Our room wasn't ready, but he gave us ideas of things to do, with directions. They have a ton of supplies you can borrow to take to the beach, including coolers, towels, and snorkeling gear. They also have complimentary sunscreen, bug spray, and other sundries. Everyone, staff and guests, were nice. Definitely a place you won't know a stranger. Room was huge.The car ferry is just around the corner, and the people ferry and businesses are less than a 10 minute walk away.

This means we could hear everything happening in the office, and I assume they would be able to hear us. The pool had to be drained while we were there, because of repairs. Not sure we would have used it, but it was a bummer that it wasn't an option.
Everything else: The property is older. It's not a fancy hotel. It doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. We were there only one night, but I wish it was longer. Would recommend on the basis of the staff alone.

Close to town Difficult for those with mobility issues. A lot of steps but Phillip & Jim were very helpful assisting with bags & getting us a cab at check out . Enjoyed complimentary rum punch & breakfast with other guests. Beautiful views.

Ok but don't expect peace and quiet
First of all let me say that the owner is great. He was very helpful. However, there is a Dominican dance club across the street and it is EXTREMELY loud. Like a car with a booming system was parked in front of our room. Our floor in the room was literally shaking from the bass. I'm not one to care much about noise, but after a few hours it gets old. Plus there were beetle-looking bugs in the bathroom. It is within a short walk to restaurants, bars and shops though.

We always stay at the St. John Inn the 1st night we arrive, and the last night before we leave. It's the perfect buffer to extend your time on St. John a couple nights and it's close to town.

We've stayed at this property before, and were happy to return. There was some trepidation traveling during Covid, and with the ongoing rebuilding efforts after Maria, but as soon as we landing in Cruz Bay and walked up the hill to the Inn, we knew we were in for a great trip. Jim as very kind, welcoming and available to assist during our stay. The Inn itself is clean and amenable for what it is, it's no palace but it works very well for a beach vacation launching and retiring spot. The location right near the Dolphin market and all the restaurants makes it ideal for those looking to explore the island on foot. You don't need a jeep to get to Solomon or Honeymoon beach, and the taxis will take you further for just a few dollars. We will return as soon as we possibly can.

Our family of four stayed in one of their suites, which had two bedrooms. Both rooms had queen beds, a/c and ample room to move around and have bags out. One of the two rooms had a tv and there was a little cubby area between the rooms a d near the bath that had a mini-fridge, coffee maker and microwave. The shower was not large but the water pressure was good and didn’t take too long to heat up. The outdoor space was nice with lots of tables and chairs for guests to eat continental breakfast, read, or be on computer. WiFi not amazing in the rooms but good just outside on the property. The owner was very nice and had lots of information to share about the local area in terms of things to see and do and the history of the area. I would recommend this place to other travelers.

The location is within walking distance to many of the local restaurants and the ferry in Cruz Bay. The customer service was beyond and Phillip checked in as you would walk by to make sure everything was going great. Everyday we felt so incredibly welcomed and we will be back to stay at the St John Inn!

Upon arrival the owner met us, we did not arrive until 8pm. He was waiting for us, he was very welcoming and accommodating. He gave us the scoop of everything we needed to know about the island - as St. John Island is my favorite island thus far in the USVI. The property is quaint well kept and the owner and staff were simply awesome. The property is a short walk to Cruz Bay where the local eateries and shops are - we were not able to go, but we were told that from the property to Salomon Beach and Honeymoon beach were not a far walk. Unfortunately, there was a family emergency and we had to leave abruptly. I am definitely coming back to finish my visit soon - and I would love the opportunity to befriend the owner and staff as they feel like kindred spirits. Oh, and the nightly rum punch was awesome!

St. John’s Inn is a wonderful beachy hotel in the heart of Cruz Bay. If you’re looking for a true island experience with great people, comfortable accommodations, and easy access to all the top sites, this is the place! The rooms were clean and roomy with a kitchenette. The pool and deck are well kept and beautiful. The staff and owner, Dave, are exceptionally welcoming and kind. I highly recommend this property and will be going back. Bonus, Mr. Pipers Jeep rentals is across the road, I was in and out in 10 mins - affordable and convenient. Also, two large markets are within walking distance of the hotel. It was really nice to have the option to pick-up a few things for lunch on the beach. Restaurants and shops also very near by.

The location is key, you can walk to town and the restaurants very easily. The inn lends out all sorts of equipment, towels, coolers beach chairs, snorkeling equipment... There is a free breakfast and evening cocktail. The staff is helpful and friendly and will help you figure out daily destinations, transportation and itineraries. They have extra sun block and plenty of cats to keep you smiling.

What a great find! Last time we stayed in a resort and it was so much less personal and friendly than this boutique hotel! At St John Inn, you will know the staff well when you leave and they will guide you through everything you want to do. Breakfast and happy hour are fun ways to meet other guests from all over the world. Our two bedroom room was very spacious and the balcony was an awesome place to hang out.
