We really enjoyed our stay. Jessica and Marc were excellent hosts, and had thought of most everything well before we asked. At checkin we got a link to well organized information we would need, like tell able taxi drivers and restaurants that are open on Sundays...
Although there were 5 rooms rented we we only saw one other couple on site at any given time, it was like having the place to yourself. And the view from the balcony is top notch!

The rooms were very small. They were clean. The owner wipe water from the floor with a towel which was the same type in the room. I wondered if the guest towel are used for the same purpose. The towels were very thin. There was rust on the faucet to the sink in the pool area. I had a three night. stay but checked out after one night. I would not recommend this hotel.

As a loyal Hotels.com customer, I rely heavily on reviews. The more someone can know about a property, the better. First, the positives. This property is in a really good location and has awesome views from the pool area, not so much from the rooms. The owners are also very nice and accommodating. That said, the following is important to know if you are considering a stay. We had one of their 2 largest rooms. By my estimation, it was about 165 square feet, which is small. Case in point, our refrigerator and waste basket were on the front porch. There is also not a lot of attention to detail when it comes to maintaining the property. There was a fair amount of leaves and dirt around the common areas and the pool was dirty. There were hoses that were laying out the entire time we were there that we had to step over to enter our room. There were also ladders and other equipment in the common areas that just doesn’t make for an inviting space. Specific to our room, we had to shut our AC unit off at night because it made a whining sound that made it difficult to sleep. All in all, this property just didn’t seem to have a level of care and upkeep that you would expect.

Our room was gorgeous! The view of the bay was beautiful. Our room looked like the ad pictured. Whole place was clean. Jessica and Mark couldn’t have been nicer! Jessica helped us pick some terrific lunch and dinner choices as well as plan our days at the beach around crowds. Would definitely stay here again!

It’s a property that has charm and character. It’s a beautiful place. The hotel 1829 is a few min walk down some steps nearby and dinner there was amazing. We went back twice just for the cocktails. It was quiet for the most part. We had the pool to ourselves 90% of the time. A 15 min walk got us to shops, a market, bars, etc. If you are blessed, you will have the chance to pet ocho, the sweetest good boy you’ve ever met. I really appreciated the tips and lists they had for us to help us decided the best places to go. If I ever hat the chance to visit again, I would stay here. The owners are kind and helpful. The only thing I would change is the mattress on our bed, it was a bit hard. They have everything you need here to have a good trip.

The owner was nice and wanted to help make our stay nice, but he couldn't hide the fact that the pictures he took to 'sell' the place were very generous. Literally the best example of good lighting and strategic camera work to make a run down place seem nice online. Dirty kitchen. Run down front desk. Literally have to walk up and down 101 steps to get anywhere. Our taxi driver had to drop us off 1,000 yards from the place.

The pictures did not do the place justice. The stone stairs that you had to take if you wanted to walk anywhere or incredibly inconvenient. The bed is very hard and when I said something about this to the host, they did not offer anything. I had to ask for an extra comforter to put down to even make this day, manageable. Also, I read on three or four different websites that this place had bed and breakfast. When I arrived, I asked the host that gave us a tour of the place and she stated that they had not done that for a while over a year. I was very disappointed. The pool was very dirty and the place was just not what I was expecting. I will not be staying here again.

The place it’s beautiful. Close to everything and you can walk everywhere. The stairs are a workout, but necessary to stay in shape😂. Mark was superb, courteous and helpful. I recommend “At Home In the Tropics” for a quite, walkable, clean and friendly place to stay in St. Thomas!

Mark and Jess were both so nice to us and went way above and beyond! We had an early excursion and they found us a taxi that was willing to wake up early for us…but also promised to drive us if they taxi slept in! Breakfast was great every day and the view is amazing! Great location to downtown where you can walk to in 5 min or so. They also just bought Hotel 1829 which is close by and that looked very nice as well! We plan to go back.

Very welcoming . . . and accomodating, during our 6-day stay. The owner went the extra mile and loaned us his phone charger and gave us duct tape for a luggage repair. Jess and Mark were remarkable hosts. They offered us snorkel equipment, chairs and a cooler to bring to the beach which made things so easy. The property is just a short walk to downtown to restaurants and shopping. Currently there is construction going on behind the hotel but it really wasn't bothersome. Breakfast was served restaurant style, a varied menu daily and delicious. The hotel itself is rustic, intimate, island style and very comfortable. There are several steps to get in and out of the property but that is typical being on a steep hill. Definitely recommend.

We got very lucky with this B&B. Marc and Jess were very welcoming. Their property has a lot of history dating back to 1804. It still has that charm and character, but at the same time it is fully renovated and provides all modern amenities. In addition, it has an amazing view of the bay and excellent service to top it all of: lovely breakfast, pool, use of beach chairs, beach towels and snorkeling gear. We would be very happy to stay here again if we return to St Thomas.

Wonderful hosts with many amenities offered especially for beachgoers. Jessica's breakfasts were amazing! Having breakfasts with spectacular views of the harbor was a great way to start each day! The B&B is nestled in the hill overlooking the harbor and you can easily get to the town by stairs. The B&B is also within driving distance to two beautiful beaches, one of which we were able to snorkel with turtles! Highly recommend this B&B.

My wife and I just spent 3 nights at At Home In The Tropics. I cant say enough about how nice our stay was. Jess, Mark and Lauren were all fantastic hosts. The breakfast in the mornings were unique and delicious. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the property is located just a short ride from everything in St Thomas. We will definitely be returning and staying here!

Mark, Jess and Lauren do magnificent jobs as hosts! They're very welcoming and offer helpful insights into getting around the islands, scheduling taxi pickups, and understanding the local culture. Their guest rooms are very clean, everything works, premises are safe, and breakfasts are delicious!! The view from our balcony of the harbor/bay and many islands was beautiful. The only negative was the weather---heavy rains before and after arrival increased the humidity levels (but room AC was excellent) and rain caused considerable runoff reducing ocean clarity. Taxis are expensive from the airport to hotels and to ferries. We walked throughout the historic district and harbor to sight-see and for dinners, and enjoyed the exercise going up and down the very steep steps and hills. Our best dinner and price was at nearby Greenhouse Restaurant & Bar, and the worst dinner and price(!) was at Greengos Caribbean Cantina. Tap & Still is a great deal too (both on St. Thomas and St. John), if you like tasty burgers and fries. Arawak (recommended by Mark & Jess) did a great job with our kayak/snorkel tour finding calm seas, clear water, beautiful beaches and many, many fish and coral on St. John.

This B&B was perfect for our anniversary stay after 12 days of party at the BVI regatta. Jessica greeted us on our arrival, and gave us a map with suggestions of events and restaurants. She was in contact daily via text, and even let me borrow some nail polish remover. We like to sleep in & skip breakfast, so she kindly brought a pot of coffee & fruit to our door front every morning. Bring your walking shoes, because At The Tropics is nestled up a hill within 10 minute walk to the main areas of shopping. We loved getting exercise in, especially after living on a catamaran for so long! I track my steps on my Apple Watch & had over 12k steps all 3 days we were there. :) We walked to the cruise harbor area for shopping & dining. We highly recommend Tap & Still for the best hamburgers with the lowest cost we’ve seen out on vaca. We even brought an extra burger back which we ate the next day. At Tropics has a kitchen area outside by the pool with microwave, sink, dishes & 5 gallon water dispenser at your convenience. Also, the pool is accessible at any time of day or night. The days were humid in October, so we looked forward to the pool in the evenings to cool off. The icing on the cake was we had the place to ourselves!!

My husband and I had a great time at this fantastic Bed and Breakfast Hotel. This time we decided to avoid resorts and feel instead how an islander lives. The location is perfect for exploring the city center with many attractions and restaurants around. Walking around the bay was amazing and walking down and uphill was our perfect amount of daily exercise! We would like to thank the hosts Jess and Mark for being so friendly and welcoming. Also, Lauren who was helping them, she was very sweet and attentive. The room was care for and beautifully prepared, very clean and with everything you need to make your stay at home. They also provide beach accessories such as chairs, blanket and sunscreen. Every morning we have a different and delicious breakfast next to the pool with a stunning view. So if you really want to feel at home but in the tropics, in a quiet and romantic environment, this is definitely your place! We highly recommend it and we will return in a future visit.

This property was absolutely breathtaking! The rooms were clean, bright and airy. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and some of the ingredients were grown right there on the property. Mark and Jess were so wonderful and truly cared about making our trip enjoyable. The B&B was a short walk to downtown/restaurants/shops. Unfortunately, there were quite a few stairs to get back up to the property if walking. I did not mind the stairs as it was a great way to get some exercise on vacation, just not so great for those who are physically disabled. I would definitely recommend this property and look forward to staying at their other property when open, Hotel 1829.

If I could give 10 stars I absolutely would! This bed and breakfast is an absolute dream for your short or long stay while in St.Thomas. It's located within Charlotte Amalie and in walking distance or a short taxi ride to most things. Our room was impeccable, comfortable, and inviting. Your hosts Mark and Jess are genuine, welcoming and overall just wonderful people. The delicious breakfast every morning appears to alternate between sweet and savory. Trust me the breakfast won't disappoint you. In closing I will only stay at this property when I return to St.Thomas and I highly recommend you book here too. You will love it!

Nothing is within walking distance and there is no food delivery in the island, but that’s not the fault of the B&B. They were fantastic and helpful, especially the breakfasts!

I can’t say enough good things for our stay here! The property was always locked and safe, our room was so clean and cute, our breakfast was amazing!! All the food was homemade by the host, Jess. My personal favorite was the morning we had a coconut smoothie with eggs in a homemade bread bowl. The view was amazing and the property was so picturesque. Additionally, the bed was so comfortable, probably the most comfortable bed and pillows I’ve ever had on vacation. To top it off, the hosts were so hospitable and welcoming. Can’t recommend this place enough! Thanks guys!

Our 8 day stay at At home in the Tropics was excellent and made more pleasant by the helpfulness of the owners Jess and Mark. The breakfasts were a treat to be looked forward to each day and were varied and tasteful, cooked fresh by Jess each morning. The property is 200 years old but well maintained and a credit to the owners. Everything worked as it should except for a TV glitch that we overcame with Mark's help. We would highly recommend this B & B for any able bodied guest as being on a hilly island results in plenty of steps to negotiate which seemed to get easier after a few days.

In a word, At Home in the Tropics is perfect! It starts with the setting, which is not only gorgeous, but very conveniently located a few blocks from the main St Thomas shopping/eating district. Our room was spotless (cleaned very day!) and plenty big, and had everything we needed for a comfortable week away. The pool and breakfast area are delightful. The breakfasts themselves were one of the highlights of our trip… fresh and delicious, a different breakfast every day (and mine were vegetarian, as requested). Jess and Mark were lovely hosts, offering many tips and suggestions for local touring and transportation. We can’t recommend At Home in the Tropics enough! Stop looking… this is the place!
