I would say Bluebeard’s Castle itself is beautiful and has some of the best views on the island. The biggest downside is that St. Thomas has occasional power outages, so the electricity will likely go out at some point during your stay. However, they seem to get it back up and running pretty quickly.
A few things to know before booking: only the rooms have air conditioning; the rest of the property does not. The resort is built on a steep hill and has a lot of stairs, so if you have mobility issues, it may not be the best fit. There are elevators on the pool side for wheelchair access, but you may still encounter stairs depending on where you’re staying. They do offer a golf cart shuttle to take guests from the lower villas up to the lobby, which is helpful.
As for amenities, there aren’t many included. Food is not included, though they do offer complimentary coffee in the mornings. The pool is fairly shallow at about 3.5 feet deep, and there is a small hot tub.
Also, keep in mind that the resort is not located directly on the beach. It’s up on a hill, and the closest beach is about a 15-minute drive away.
My favorite experience was Brewers Bay. It had an incredible amount of sea life without having to drive all the way across the island. We saw sea turtles, stingrays, and lots of tropical fish. Overall, despite a few downsides, we had a wonderful time!

WOW! The staff was polite and very helpful. Some kids were a little ‘entertaining’ and the staff quieted them down quickly. Then we lost an expensive set of sunglasses and when they found them they drove the glasses to the airport! WOW! Fantastic people. Is stay there again.

This was our first trip to St. Thomas, so it was very much a \"get oriented with the island\" vacation. Between flights and layovers, travel time was nearly 14 hours overnight, and there is no early check-in accommodation.
Bluebeard's Castle has more of a historic hotel vibe than a resort atmosphere. The pool area could use some updating, and adding music, hammocks, or a lounge area would make waiting for rooms more enjoyable since check in is 3–4 PM.
Our bay-view room was lovely with a balcony. I highly recommend requesting an upper-floor room, as some ground-level rooms overlook the parking lot instead of the harbor.
The hotel sits on a steep hill along a busy road, making walking difficult. Taxis are charged per person and cost us several hundred dollars a day, so budget accordingly.
Havensight and Charlotte Amalie cater heavily to cruise ship tourism. When ships aren't in port, many shops and businesses are closed, and the area can feel surprisingly quiet.
The staff, bartenders, valet team, and waitstaff were all friendly and helpful, and the food at the hotel was surprisingly good and reasonably priced.
The highlight of our trip was our excursion with Snorkel Cat, recommended by the concierge. We had a fantastic time and wish we had spent more than one day on the water at private beaches.

The hotel is in a great location. The view was beautiful. You can see what cruise ships are in. The place was kept clean. The food was great. I read a review about the steps. Yes, there are so many steps and no elevator. That itself would get me to not stay again. I came across a couple of staff members who were not friendly, they were slightly rude. Because of this, I dinged them on the overall score. One waiter was not friendly. 2 front desk staff were not friendly. They acted like I was inconveniencing them by asking a question. Once they gave me an attitude, I found another way to answer my question. The gentleman that sit outside to help were great. Very friendly and helpful.

Front desk staff was very helpful; the only issue I had was the pullout mattress was like a pancake. I felt the springs when sleeping; I asked for a new mattress and they weren’t able to replace it but did send extra bedding.

The room was clean and the staff was EXCEPTIONALLY FRIENDLY AND NICE! My daughter and I had a wonderful trip!! The only negative comment I have is that we didn’t notice that they were charging gratuity every time we ate at the hotel. Who puts gratuity on a check for only 2 people? That really upset us! We are 20% plus tippers and the staff really made out nice because no one pointed out that they were charging us gratuity. There weren’t any signs about charging gratuity and it was positioned near the tax. Hard to notice. That was sneaky!!! Plus, I get it that most ALL items are imported, therefore they cost more… BUT why charge $20 for an omelet when there are chickens running all around the hotel property!!!

Pros: full fridge, microwave in room. The room amenities would have been great, had they all been working properly. Spacious room. Washer/dryer on property, although you do need to ask where they are located. Security and golf cart drivers were friendly. Nice balcony view.
Cons: No property map included. Minimal information provided upon check in. You are given 2 pieces of paper outlining the towel exchange/housekeeping process. Housekeeping is 1x/week. Additional housekeeping is available for a fee.
Floor was filthy on arrival. We notified the front desk to request it be mopped or to borrow a mop. They stated they would have it mopped the following day. This did not occur. 4 days into our 8 day stay we were texted/offered a complimentary free housekeeping day. The room was made up but the floor did not appear to be mopped. Additionally, we put our towels outside the room on our door and contacted the desk as per instructions to exchange towels. This did not happen until my husband went to the front desk to inquire about it. He also informed them that our room number and our room phone number did not match. One was 301. The other was 312. The staff said housekeeping probably went to the wrong room. This probably explained the random 2am-3am phone calls we were receiving to our phone which read \"room 312\". The 2 burner stovetop was partially functional. One didn't work at all. The 2nd burner turned off in the midst of cooking. The fridge leaked water all over the floor.

Overall, the stay at the hotel was good. With exceptions for some marks on the wall in the bathroom and hairs in the cabinets likely left by prior guests, the room was clean. The proximity and view of downtown St. Thomas was absolutely the best part of the room. Additionally, we loved the air conditioning. The pool and the hot tub are not the most attractive in comparison to that of other resorts on the island, but they are good. It appears that the hotel is being renovated in portions, so this hotel has the potential to be the best on the island. Also, the on-site Sunnyside Cafe is a great stop for breakfast, but the dinner at the Castle Grill is not recommended in light of other nearby places for dinner that are both better and more affordable.

I initially ordered an ocean front or ocean and Mountain View. The young lady who checked my in gave me the room and said I’m not guaranteed a view. I checked my room and my view was the walls of other rooms. Came back ms Yvonne (she was sweet) the manager moved me to room 102 with a beautiful mountain and partial sea view. The property was well maintained and pretty clean overall. Inside of the penthouse suites the view from the balcony was simply breathtaking and I would definitely stay here again. The unit has easy to adjust temperature controls, which we found very useful as the AC would get really cold, but it was easy to adjust as needed.

We loved our stay here! Our room was spacious, included a mini kitchen, and had nice, cold AC. The views from the property were gorgeous. Location was excellent and close to downtown Charlotte and not a far drive to the multiple beaches we visited. Overall stay at Bluebeards Castle was great! We had great views of the yacht harbor and mountains. We stayed in a studio suite and had our own kitchenette with fridge, microwave and stove top. Room had good AC plus fans. Resort was limited on dining options; one breakfast spot that didn’t open until 9am and one dinner restaurant. We dined at Castle grill several times and enjoyed the food especially the jerk shrimp tacos. One downside was that it was about 10 minutes away from town and high in a hill so walking wasn’t the easiest. The staff was great and always friendly.

Security could not get us in with the master key. waited to for the head of maintenance (Joe) to come open the door with the computer. The staff is exceptional,. They were all friendly and helpful. I had a situation with my room fridge and the staff moved me to another beautful room with an ocean view. We loved it so much we extendex our stay for another week. It is very close to downtown, the port and yaht haven. I thank the staff for their care and support. The one thing I would change is to have had more support at brunch. There was one person who was attending the bar and waiting tables which had us waiting too long so we left and ate else where.

The guys who drove us to our room was excellent and friendly. We counted over a 100 steps to carry our bags up to check out and it would of been nice to offer a ride back up the steep incline. The girl who check us out said it wasn't an option.

First, the pictures of the resort are definitely not accurate. The only thing that is great about this resort is the room we stay in. They didn’t tell us they had an elevator until the last day. The place looks like a motel six and it’s not near anything without taking a taxi. Now the taxis cost an arm and a leg. They charge by the person not group, and you have to wait for it to be called. The restaurant was ok but not the upscale you wanted. The pool was small and the jacuzzi was even smaller. When leaving my daughter’s notice they had been bitten and it came from the room. All on their legs around ankles. I would not stay in this resort/motel atmosphere again. If you are ever in St. Thomas make sure you get to airport early (3hours) to stand I. TSA line

There were two male staff that were really nice, the rest of the staff were not very welcoming. We met one young lady the last day that was very kind & assistive. At first I thought maybe it was me but then we went to dinner at Buoy Haus and their staff were assistive the moment we excited the taxi. The bartender at Bluebeards was really nice & the guest were as well. They have beautiful mango trees. We really enjoyed St. Thomas but didn’t feel comfortable asking anyone out of the two guys information. If they weren’t there we simply figured it out.

The property was nice. Our view was amazing! Our balcony allowed for privacy and we had a front row view of the ocean which was great. The room didn’t feel clean and I refused to walk without my flip flops. I found a thick hair ball in the shower and another blond hairball in the extra blanket that’s kept in the closet.
