What can I say about our stay at the lovely resort known as Margaritaville…From the welcoming staff, to the spacious, yet cozy room in the Pink Crustacean overlooking the Caribbean Sea, our time was in a word… magnificent. The food at the resort was always fresh and delicious! The wait staff was always happy to see us, making sure our food was prepared to our liking. Shout out to the manager Anya and our servers Chris and Khadija for always making our dining experience amazing.

We also enjoyed exercising at the gym, which is located on the premises. We were greeted every morning by the wildlife locals, who could not be any more sweet and affectionately curious.

This was our second time visiting the island, as well as our second time staying at Margarittaville. Look no further for your next trip in St. Thomas… For here is the ONLY place worth staying at during your travels. Cheers to you and your time “wastin’ away…” at Margarittaville.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Margaritaville Vacation Club - St. Thomas. The property was beautiful, very well maintained, and the staff was friendly and welcoming throughout my visit. The overall atmosphere made for a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

However, there were a few inconveniences during the stay. There was no room service available, and because the resort is spread out across a large compound, getting around could sometimes be difficult. Guests are unable to drive directly to their rooms and must rely on golf carts for transportation, which were not always available in a timely manner. Also, even when ordering takeout food, it was not delivered to the room, so I still had to travel to the front office area to pick it up myself.

Considering we paid nearly $2,000 for only three nights, we expected a bit more convenience and accessibility during our stay. Aside from those issues, everything else about the resort was great, and I still had a pleasant experience overall.

Staff at front desk was not truthful about timeshare misled me into believing they were giving me a discounted excursion because I paid too much for my room from Expedia after I signed up for excursion and paid they said be at seminar at 9 am that’s when I asked was this a timeshare seminar and they said yes. I had to go to management and get it canceled. Get a refund and then I paid full price for the excursion. Also the food at the Margaritaville restaurant was not very good and overcooked, and one of the staff was very rude. Did not come back to our table after someone else brought our food. We had never been anywhere like that before we were excited to be there. The island was beautiful however, I will not recommend my friends to go there

When checking in the type of room we had was going to be hard for 3 other people I was with to do stairs. Not only did they hunt me down to tell me they found the same type of room but with less stairs to climb. They are always there to help you with whatever problem comes up. Getting around is no problem since they have golf carts to take you to wherever you need to go.

The property and room were absolutely gorgeous, but I would think twice about booking here for the following reasons:

1) There is no housekeeping for short stays (under 7 days) even upon request. The most you'll get is extra towels and bedding sent to your room (upon request), and they won't collect dirty linens. We shoved our used linens in a closet, out of sight.

2) The property is expansive and has plenty of steps and hills. We stayed at the hilltop, which was 8 flights of steps (250 steps plus some flat ground) from the welcome center. The property offers a shuttle service that busses guests around the property, but you might finding yourself waiting a while during peak travel season AND service ends at 11 pm, so plan to walk if you come home late.

3) The restaurant on the property, Landshark, is truly terrible. I ate there three times and hated it all three times. Poor service and gross food. DO NOT get the avocado toast. Please.

4) The hilltop pool swim-up bar was closed for my entire stay (the pool was open and staffed, but not the swim-up bar).

The room was awesome. The downsides were the amount of stairs. There were golf cart shuttles but getting one when needed was timely. When you did see one you had to jump out of the way or risk getting hit. They drive like it’s a NASCAR track. Out of the many times we did eat at restaurant there was only one server that paid any attention to us. The rest sat us took order and gave check. No refills no how is everything. Did not care.

The staff were very helpful from start to checkout, everyone seemed to go out of their way to make it a great experience. We were always able to get a cart ride to and from our room when we didn’t feel like walking, the taxis were always available out in front, we used the shuttle to Coki and Coral world. The grounds were very well maintained and we enjoyed walking and taking in the beauty that surrounded us. The hillside pool was a daily stop for happy hour in the water. We ate at the restaurant 3 times and enjoyed both dinners and breakfast. The room was very clean and a perfect place to land after being out and about for the day. We were in a ground floor room and really enjoyed sitting outside the room and watching the iguanas, chickens and cats. Not having beach access at the resort was not a problem because we had planned to visit Coki, Megan’s bay, Trunk and Cinnamon bay. We took a taxi to Red hook for a couple of dinners and the ferry to St John, so convenient to get everywhere we wanted to go from Margaritaville. The atmosphere was so relaxed that time seemed to slow down while we were there. We would definitely recommend and return at the first opportunity.

We enjoyed our stay and really like the fact that this resort was affordable, so we were OK with some of the property's shortcomings.

Cons:

Sargassum - Thankfully, we were aware of the sargassum (seaweed), so we weren't planning on spending any time at their beach. It was smelly at their beachside pool as well, due to the sargassum, so we didn't spend any time at the beachside pool either. They have a hillside pool (not smelly!) that we hit up everyday for their BOGO 4-6pm Happy Hour. :)

18% Gratuity included at their restaurant- which, in my opinion, is the reason for some sub par service at dinner. One of our waitresses was horrible. My husband ordered fries for his side, he got rice. We mentioned it right away to our waitress, who said she'd bring fries right out, and he never got them. I had to ask for a refill of water, which I also never got. And then she got an automatic 18% tip.

Room smell - our room had a pretty strong musty odor.

Pros:

Price - We got a great deal, and probably wouldn' t have taken the trip otherwise.

Room size - LOVED the size of the room, which included a fridge/freezer, microwave, blender, glasses, silverware, wine opener, etc.

Balcony - We loved our balcony and were happy with the ocean view!!

Shuttle - they had golf carts to take you around if you were too tired to make the climb up the stairs. :)

Hillside pool - beautiful and overlooked the ocean! Both pool bars had BOGO drinks during their 4-6pm happy hour! :)

The Infinity pool with swim up bar setting was fabulous. Food was good at the restaurant and the drinks were very good as well. Will definitely stay again. I do wish there were more golf carts available to transport you to your room and a softer bed. A hot tub would be nice too but for the price it's a good deal and a pretty location.

Housekeeping didn’t come during stays which they warn you about when you arrive. Could not use the beach due to seaweed which we didn’t know until a week before arriving but sounds like it’s an on going issue, shuttles to other beaches but limited times to catch them. Bed was comfortable and that’s about the only good thing I can say. Wait staff was terrible. They were slow to acknowledge you, acted like they didn’t want to be there, and didn’t get the orders right. It might have something to do with the fact that gratuity was automatically included so there was no reason for them to earn tips. They advertised “Coffee and Crosswords” every morning, and that was a complete joke. It entailed a keurig machine and three puzzle books (2 of which were sudoku-type puzzles and one was a kid’s book) on the second floor of the lobby, which had no working air conditioner and the thermostat read 99 degrees. The bars closed early, the food was mediocre, and the beach was terrible with black sludge. Overall, not a good experience.

I recently stayed at Margaritaville Vacation Club – St. Thomas (May 19–20) with my husband, and the experience was mixed.

We received a warm welcome, and the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, featuring a king bed, sofa bed, kitchen, and nice bathroom. However, there is no housekeeping service, which may be inconvenient.

The on-site beach was very disappointing—covered in seaweed/sargassum and unusable during our stay. Fortunately, nearby Coki Beach (a short walk) was beautiful, clean, and had great food. We enjoyed delicious jerk chicken and oxtails with generous portions.

The resort layout is challenging, with rooms far from the entrance and set on hills. Golf carts are available, but wait times can be long, so expect a lot of walking. The infinity pool with a swim-up bar was a highlight, offering great views, though it requires climbing many stairs, which can feel unsafe after drinking.

The on-site restaurant was underwhelming—subpar food, watered-down drinks, and weak coffee. Service from our waiter Chris was a bright spot. Note that an 18% gratuity is automatically added everywhere.

The vacation club presentation was frustrating due to poor communication—no clear instructions, missing details, and issues booking promised perks like return transportation. Although a manager eventually resolved the taxi issue, the process was inconvenient.

Overall, while there are positives, inconsistencies and lack of communication made the stay feel average.

Did not ever receive a ride on the golf carts. Even had to tote our suitcases up the two hills to our room. This is a resort that most definitely caters to the members. We are not members and it was noticeable. The location is great if you love Coki Beach (easy walk over to beach). The restaurant is good, with hefty quantities of food (albeit priced accordingly). The \"shows\" at night are hit and miss with some being fairly entertaining and others a complete waste. Staff was generally kind and accommodating. Would not stay here again, but it was worth a one-time trip to stay at the original Margaritaville.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Margaritaville vacation club definitely represented its signature tropical vibe; from the many palm trees and tropical plants to colorful hotel buildings and beach chairs. If you are looking for a resort that is fun, busy and provides more than just a place to rest your head, this one may just hit the spot. The staff are awesome; very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Johnny who welcomes you with a smile and a margarita, Karen T and Chyna at the front desk, Neil who drives the golf cart shuttle, Bernadine at the Margaritaville restaurant and Sham. All made our stay extra special. The room was clean, spacious , loved the kitchenette, even had a margarita blender. Balcony with mountaintop and ocean views, breathtaking. Has its own little beach to sit back and relax with a margarita, now that’s a vacay. The restaurant meals are nothing to write home about, it’s okay. The pasta dish was drowning in too much cheese and creamy sauce. They have a small cafe and souvenir shop but could use another restaurant. The hilltop pool with swim up bar was clean and nice, great ocean views. Outdoor activities were cancelled when it rained with no Plan B in place. They need to plan alternative indoor activities. They could do more with some of the extra space they have on the premises like making more indoor spaces for activities to take place. All in all, we had a great experience and would stay here again!

I recently stayed at Margaritaville Vacation Club St. Thomas and overall had a really great experience. The property is beautiful, and the atmosphere truly gives you that relaxing island vibe.

The staff was amazing—everyone was friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help, which made the stay even more enjoyable.

The only downside was the number of stairs. Getting to our room required quite a bit of walking and climbing, which can be a bit tiring, especially after a long day. They do offer golf cart rides, which is definitely a plus, but since it’s a busy hotel, you may have to wait a little while as they assist other guests.

Overall, I would still recommend this resort for a relaxing getaway. Just be prepared for a bit of walking!

Having to wait for golf carts if you didn't want to climb up or down the many, many stairs to get from the mountain side rooms to the lobby area, restaurant, beach and ground floor pool and back again was aggravating at times.

Mone at the check in desk was so nice. Xena, also at the front desk, was exceptional with helping us relocate to a ground floor room as we needed to leave the property for our flight home before the golf cart crew started for the day.

Margaritaville restaurant has a very nice selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees. Our server the first night of our stay was very, very slow. Our server the second night of our stay was exceptional.

Unfortunately, the Sargassum was in the cove and no one was in the water, but the pool area was clean, comfortable and had lots of loungers available.

Roosters, guinea hens, iguanas, cats and dogs are around the property. I could have foregone the rooster crowing at sunrise.

The location is perfect for those who want to visit St. John while on vacation in St Thomas. The pools were great to swim in after long days at the beautiful beaches. Sapphire beach is very close by! We enjoyed the music while we chilled at the beach. Coki is also a short walk away. The water was like a swimming pool!! We visited St John on 3 occasions and the ferry ride from Red Hook was very convienient. The rooms were very nice and the bed was very comfortable.We will definitely be back!

Overall the property was decent. Some loose tiles in the bathroom and chipping pain in the closets. I was not expecting the kitchen to be full stocked with everything from cups, plates, silverware, pans and cooking utensils so this was a pleasant surprise. ALOT of hills/stairs. They do have golf carts but it takes awhile to get a ride. Overall it has amazing views but I think my next trip I would stay somewhere else.

This location had a lot to offer, closed to two amazing beaches. Things you should know before booking this place is all hills, golf carts take you around, not the easiest to get a golf carts at times, the beach on the property not swimming able due to nasty seaweed, the hilltop pool is the best pool and amenity. Definitely no matter where you stay best to rent a car but it cannot be driven anywhere near your room. You need to park in a lot and either walk to your room or walk to lobby to get a golf cart. Other big thing to know is that they will not come in to clean your room at any point unless you want to pay an additional 120 or 130. If you asked they will drop off new towels to your room and it your responsibility to put out the trash and old towels and call for them to be picked up. There are lots of chicken, cats and two dogs( dogs located by the beach and parking lot) that roam the lot freely. Overall would recommend but just keep this in mind when you book.

When we arrived we they didn’t have the rooms reserved and paid for and could only give us one room class reserved and a downgraded room. The beach was covered in sargassum and a lot was in disrepair. Our bedroom door wouldn’t close, the food was very average and the property itself was mostly on the side of a hill which made it a nonstarter for anybody who has trouble with stairs. I give it a B-

This is a timeshare place. Didn’t realize when I booked. But the staff didn’t pressure and everyone was chilll. Some of the bar staff weren’t fit to serve. Some of the drinks were aweful. And then they tell you it’s a matter of opinion. Bars were understaffed and bartenders would prioritize some over others. But overall, a solid 3 borderline 4 out of 5. Won’t be back but would recommend if you need a last minute trip

I recently stayed at Margaritaville Vacation Club St. Thomas and had a mixed experience overall.

The property itself was clean and well-maintained, which made for a comfortable stay. The staff stood out in a positive way—everyone I encountered during check-in and at the restaurant was friendly, helpful, and welcoming.

That said, there were a few drawbacks. There aren’t many activities for kids, so it may not be the best option for families looking for a lot of on-site entertainment. The beach area is also not really suitable for swimming, which was a bit disappointing. That being said the view is beautiful and the sound of nature is amazing.

The food was decent and the drinks were okay, but everything felt a bit overpriced for what you get. Another inconvenience was the layout of the resort—depending on where your room is, it can be quite a long walk, and the golf carts that provide rides are often busy or take time to arrive.

Additionally, transportation off the property can be a hassle. Cabs are fairly expensive and can take a while to show up, so planning ahead is important.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The property is breathtaking. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Right on the beach and ghe hilltop pool was fantastic. My only complaint would be the food at the restaurant. Ordered avocado toast and what I received was store bought guacamole and it was horrible. You’re on an island with beautiful avocados everywhere and you serve store bought guacamole?!! And the worst part of all, there was no land shark beer. How is it possible to be at the margaritaville resort and there’s no land shark. And the staff thought it was no longer made. Other than that, the resort was great.

We came to Margaritaville to relax, see St. Thomas, eat good food, drink island cocktails, listen to good music, and experience local flavor. Margaritaville let us do all that and more. The room was clean and well appointed. We were near the upper pool, which is a big plus if you like a swim up bar and a two for one happy hour. We loved the golf cart shuttles on the property and it was great to have a taxi near the front lobby every time we needed one. The food in the restaurant was better than we expected. Breakfast was especially good. Shoutout to Chris for being a great server. The bar at the main pool was a lot of fun and had plenty of seating. We didn't get in the ocean at the property because Coki Beach is literally less than 10 minutes walk away and is much more fun and lively. The only misstep we experienced was not knowing the vacation club rooms don't come with housekeeping. A week is a long time to have sandy sheets! Speaking of steps, there were 150 steps up the hill from the restaurant to our room. I counted. So you will definitely be taking advantage of the golf cart shuttles a lot. Overall, the resort is a solid choice, close to lots of beaches and to St. John's ferry, plus many great restaurants and bars. Bring lots of cash for taxis, or rent a car and take your life in your hands! Either way, you'll enjoy Margaritaville, and it might make you a little nostalgic for one particular harbor.

The hotel is very pretty. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The beach was not great, but we took a shuttle to Coqui beach that was awesome. The food at the ONE restaurant was great. The room was ok. We did not have hot water for 2/3 nights and we got a nice voucher for our troubles. I regret not having an extra day to relax at the pool at the very top. We also got locked out of our rooms after selecting a late check out. The hotel does not have any night life. It was a nice stay for a few days.

Margaritaville is located in a great spot right next to Coki Beach, which just one of the best snorkeling areas on the island. I loved the property and our room was nice. There pools were great. The seaweed did not bother us at all. I was disappointed to learn that there was no hot tub anymore and I was expecting very warm weather our entire trip, but there were cooler days that would have been a great time for a hot tub. The worst part about our stay was that the staff specifically at the restaurant and one of the bartenders were very unfriendly and acted like it was a nuisance when we asked for anything. They would talk back, roll their eyes, and had lore with ethic. This wasn’t just at the Margaritaville, but we noticed this throughout the island that the customer service was very subpar. The people who worked at the guest services and tourist excursions at the Margaritaville were amazing, however! Over all that we had an amazing vacation and a memorable time with our family!

This is a wonderful resort to stay at. The room was very clean, love the privacy and beautiful grounds. The staff was very helpful and the restaurant had delicious food. Literally the only issue we had was that our TV don’t work in our room, but didn’t complain as we didn’t need it much anyway. Great place to stay.

It's ok. Convenient location, nice sized rooms. Be able to walk and climb many stairs to get to your room. Only 1 good option that is meh, staff is unresponsive, slow, and will just lie to make you go away and not deal with you on anything - even trivial things like getting a cab in the morning.

The room we were given had been heavily smoked in, at least in the past. All of our clothes smell, as do our bags and everything else. This was very hard to get past, and really reflected on our overall review of the resort.

The restaurant was ok, expensive for what you get. We took the quick 10 minute walk to Louie's Market to pick up some snacks and supplies, along with some really good good from the attached deli. This was far more cost effective than eating every meal at the hotel resturant.

We also had a meal at Sun & Sea Bar & Grill, which is a quick 5 minute walk down the beach from the resort. While it had somewhat of a dive appearance, the tables are right on the water and the food and staff were excellent. I would highly recommend visiting this place for at least one meal.

The two pools were nice and the kids enjoyed swimming. There were lots of loungers, plenty free most of the time. There were some things that definitely felt like deferred maintenance, especially related to the storm clean-up. But overall the resort itself was very nice and gave us plenty of things to do for the few days that we were there.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, offering golf cart rides to our room up the hill, and helping to handle our baggage. We enjoyed our stay, except for the horrible smell in the room.

Some of the staff was cordial and welcoming and yet some others were indifferent when it came to providing assistance or sharing information. When we arrived were asked to attend a timeshare information session which proved to be a bad experience.

Depending on what your goals are on your trip, this can be a bull’s-eye for some, but maybe not for others. For my particular situation. I took my 78-year-old mom for her first time to the ocean, staying at Margaritaville allowed us to keep most of our trip contained to the resort allowing us to use the swimming pools and the grounds, restaurant, bars and shopping areas within the resort, The staff was outstanding. Our condo/ suite was in building 9 and daily, w would take our walks down the steps, but would use the resort golf carts to return uphill. These are constantly moving in rotation and not once did we ever have to wait more than five minutes to get a ride back to our room. This is an amazing amenity to have and the same goes for transporting your luggage to the room because the resort is on a switchback hillside. The Margaritaville restaurant itself is very spacious and has a beautiful view , however service and selection could be approved upon. The beach on the resort although not frequented, or swam in, did not smell terrible the time we were there in March due to the seaweed, however Margaritaville shuttles their guests to nearby Coki and Sapphire Beach’s. For my needs this was a great choice
