The location was a gem!! Not. Million steps before getting to your final destination which is how it is when staying at the larger resorts. You're at the car, pool or beach in seconds!!

I spent 7 nights there with my 16 year old daughter and loved it. The hotel is a little dated, but it’s on the beach has 2 pools, lounge chairs and picnic tables in front of the rooms. There are multiple charcoal grills for guests to use and the staff was amazing. It’s also only a 5 minute walk to Pier Park Mall! My only three wants would be, larger soap, shampoo, conditioner, a microwave from 2020’s and maybe free beach chairs and umbrellas.

I have been staying at the Driftwood since I was a little girl, I’m 63 now. It is a older motel and could use a little bit of updating in the rooms, but everything is clean. The staff is amazing. Expedia contacted me on the second day of my stay and ask some specific questions One being about the bed and the bed in our room was not very good and I just mentioned it and in a few hours they had a new mattress in our room. Everyone is always so very nice and I love that It’s not a huge high-rise that you have to take an elevator to the beach. I love being able to park right in front of your door and then walk out your back door and be right there at the pool and the beach no elevators I can remember them having watermelon when I was a kid and they still are serving watermelon after all these years. It’s the little extras that they do that keeps us coming back. I love that it’s so close to the fishing pier and Pier Park my husband gets up early and goes and fish off the pier and I lay in the sun, and then we walked to Pier Park in the afternoons for dinner and ride the Ferris wheel and it’s close enough to walk to the shopping center right behind the Ferris wheel. One night we even walked to Walmart. We always park our car when we get there and don’t get in it again until we leave. Can’t wait till next time.

This is a great location and affordable accommodation. It is very dated, but i did not spend a lot of time in the room. The staff were very nice and helpful. It was walking distance to Walmart and several restaurants…even TopGolf. It is not a bougie place, but beachside and beach view. I would stay here again, my wife would not stay here.

Evening staff and check in was informative and he clearly communicated. Day staff acted like I should already know things when I was asking questions, and just rated at me. Bedding is old and worn out. The white parts are brown now, a little bleach would go a long way. When loading my car 30 minutes before checkout, housekeeping was standing outside my room impatiently waiting, and staring at me. Way over priced for the condition and quality. The only “pro” of this motel is that it’s located directly on the beach. Parking is VERY tight.

If you’re going for a true “back in time” experience, this place absolutely delivers—unfortunately, it seems to have stopped updating somewhere around 1982 and never looked back.
The rooms are extremely outdated, and I’m almost convinced the comforters are originals. They appear to be the exact same ones from the listing photos—just now in their faded, well-lived, decades-old form. Think less “coastal charm” and more “retired motel energy.”
The fridge was honestly disgusting and clearly hasn’t met a proper deep clean in a while. No ice machines anywhere on the property—but don’t worry, you can buy a bag for $3, which feels like a fun little bonus charge for the full experience. Also, no elevators for half the rooms, so pack light or prepare for a workout.
The “restaurant” is basically a bar with a grill, and the staff, while nice enough, didn’t seem to have a strong grasp on… much of anything.
As for the beach: yes, there is access, which is the main redeeming quality. The “beachfront view,” however, requires a bit of imagination—you can see the ocean if you’re willing to look past large, football-field-sized buildings and around the parts of your view that are blocked by other structures.
Overall, it wasn’t the absolute worst place we’ve stayed—but it was nowhere near worth the price. Between the outdated rooms, lack of amenities, and creatively described “( beach )views,” it just doesn’t come close to matching what you’re paying for.

My wife and I stayed here one night as we were just passing through. The room was very clean and comfortable, and our only regret is that we didn't get to stay longer. The view from the balcony was great and we enjoyed the direct beach access. Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. We hope we can visit again someday soon.

After a disastrous dirty disgusting condo we were sold and realize that after a long drive with kids we found this gem online and luckily they had 3 rooms available for us. We made the reservation at 11pm and got into our rooms in 45 min

The view is stunning from room 142, I can't speak for the other rooms. The property is very close to Walmart, Top Golf, and Pier Walk. There is a splash pad and pool for very little kids. The do have another pool for older children and adults. The room was clean and has basic necessities. They clean the room everyday and replenish towels and wash cloths. I do wish they had a broom in the room to sweep up if something is spilled or to sweep up sand. I was a little noisy because our bedroom was closest to the road, however that would not deter me from staying again. Staff was very nice and accommodating.

It’s an older property in a really great location. Walkable to the pier and pier park. Clean and friendly staff. It was off season so the tiki bar wasn’t opened nor the pool but the price reflected that so it was fine. Still get the amazing views of the gulf from your balcony.

The atmosphere at the property is very comforting and relaxing.The staff is very friendly and welcoming and goes out of their way to make sure that everyone is comfortable.

Very family oriented and also good for seniors. Ground was mostly level or very few steps. Grades were not excessively steep. In close proximity to the beach.

Would have liked the Tiki bar to stay open later. But over all we loved our stay. Nothing to complain about. Will definitely be going bk and staying there again. Very family friendly. The price was great! Great views. Close to pier. Shopping is walking distance. There is a bar called Donovans right across the street and Wes the bartender is awesome!!!

Excellent service and friendly staff! Stayed here for 5 nights as part of a destination wedding and couldn't have asked for a better home base. My wife and I especially loved how close we were to the beach and the nearby dining area which had great bars and restaurants. Overall lovely and very pretty.
