I stay here every year, usually 2x a year, with my family. Weve always loved it, but since By the Sea Resorts bought Palmetto Inn too, it seems to slowly be going down. The staff is great. The room was clean. Really the only issue was that the mattresses absolutely suck. The pillows were equally as horrible & uncomfortable. Im unsure what happened, as the beds were great even as recently as October 2025. And as much as they've raised their prices, a decent bed & pillows shouldny be too much to ask for. The coffee is awful & so weak, I barely knew it was coffee. Only half the cable channels worked, the remote only worked the volume. Please fix the bed problems. Everyone will benefit from it.

My only complaint was my hotel room was one of the only ones not equipped with a stove sink etc… but everyone one on my floor that I could see had one except for maybe 1 other inside pool is said to be heated but dipped my foot in at night and it was kinda cold so idk didn’t try it staff were great tho

Location, location, location. This is an older property located right on the beautiful beach with pools and a hot tub. The water is less than 100 yards from the pools. Don't let the age of the facility scare you it is clean and well maintained. Best pillows of any of my recent stays including high end properties elsewhere.

The location is on the west side of the main drag. It has some interesting neighboring businesses including a bar that can be a biker hangout during their bi annual \"Thunder Bike Rallies\".

My spouse and I stayed here for two days during our trip to Panama City, and overall we had a good time. The place itself was nice, clean, and we enjoyed our stay for the most part. However, there were a few issues that really affected our experience and are important for other travelers to know.

First, they do not accept Chime, which was frustrating. Chime is a legitimate bank, and that should be made clear ahead of time so people can plan accordingly. That caused unnecessary inconvenience when we arrived.

Second, the room did not match what we booked. We specifically chose a room with a tub, but when we got there, there was no tub at all. The pictures online are a bit misleading because they don’t always reflect the actual room you’ll get, so that’s something to be aware of.

Most importantly, my wife is wheelchair-bound, and there was no proper shower accessibility in the room. That made things very difficult for us. Accessibility should not be overlooked, and I really feel like that needs to be better communicated and accommodated.

Like I said, we did enjoy parts of our stay, but these issues made a big impact. I would just advise future guests to double-check details about payment methods, room features, and accessibility before booking. It’s a decent place, but based on this experience, I’m not sure if we would return.

Beautiful views...can't beat it! Sparse kitchen. Carpets could be cleaner. Be prepared to bring dish soap, paper towels, and dishwasher soap because none is provided. Pools are cleaned everyday. Wonderful relaxing views. Be warned and know beach flags warnings and how to treat an undertow !

Room was clean and kitchen was stocked with the basics. We enjoyed sitting at and around the Tiki Bar by the pool. Be sure to keep at card with you if you go to the Tiki Bar as they do not take cash. I’ve been staying at the Palmetto for over 60 years and consider it my go if I don’t want or need to stay in a condo.

The room was clean, very run down. No amenities, not even a hairdryer l.The best part was the high floor beachfront room. The door to the balcony was a metal door, the windows didn't open. I overpaid for this hotel and would not book again .

Room was comfortable, but we've stayed here several times over the years and more attention needs to be given to maintain this property. Kitchen supplies were lacking (no kitchen towels, pot holders, paper towels or dish soap and several missing silverware pieces) and most of the utensils need to be replaced. Would love to see more rooms with king beds!

The room was good for the price we had to pay, the staff were nice and friendly. The room really wasn’t clean. There was mold in the bathroom the tub and on the ceiling. Toiletries they advertised that were supplied, the bottles were in the rack, but they were empty. I really didn’t rely on theirs, I had brought my own, but this is just to help someone that might be reading the amenities. They came to the room and cleaned up the dirty towels, but fell to leave clean towels.

Booked an ocean front with balcony view and called the night before and asked for higher up room for the view. Upon checkin they said only room available was on ground floor and I asked to be moved after the first night and again after second night The personal at front desk were very rude. Booked a room with kitchen was a mistake. Only one small element on stove works microwave didn’t work and cooking utensils was a joke.

For the price it was durable just to have somewhere last minute to stay. The padding in the ceiling was coming apart and when removing the sheets before departure, they didn’t look as clean from one of the beds that wasn’t even slept in. Overall either save money or pay for better. Use your own judgment.

My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. I have never smoked in my life, yet a few days after we checked out, I was charged a fee claiming that we had smoked in the room. Making such a serious accusation without providing any evidence is completely unacceptable.

On top of that, the room itself had multiple issues. As soon as we entered, there was a strong, unpleasant smell. Even though the hotel was mostly empty, we were given a room on the lowest floor, which felt like one of the worst options available. The kitchen items were old, dirty, and not usable.

Additionally, the room was supposed to have two queen beds, but one of the beds was noticeably smaller and uncomfortable compared to the other, which was misleading.

To make matters worse, the reception staff and employees were unfriendly, unhelpful, and showed no interest in assisting us.
And do not trust Expedia and hotel. Because hotel charge you extra for resort fee when you arrive there.
Overall, this was a very bad experience in terms of cleanliness, honesty, and customer service. I definitely do not recommend this hotel. Only good thing was beach view. That's all.

We stayed in an efficiency across the street from the beach. Our room was somewhat disappinting. There was a problem and we had no water at all for a few hours. Couldn’t flush toilet or take a shower. The stove had 2of4 burners broken. The fridge was scratched and rusty. The desk staff was ok… the cleaning staff was excellent checking on us each day to make sure we had what we needed. Overall ok but certainly not a perfect experience.

Palmetto Beachfront Hotel feels like you walk out of paradise and into the first circle of hades.
First of all, I’ve never experienced the kind of blatant exposing of my private information like I did at this location. I’m not sure what the point of the “pre check-in” process is if they’re just going to ask the same questions again and then scream (literally talking VERY LOUDLY with every single guest) out all of your personal information for everyone in the lobby and all of the random people behind the front desk in the back to hear. As I sat in the lobby waiting for my room to become available (I was strung along for hours as the desk staff made me believe a room could become available as soon as it was cleaned but wasnt able to check-in til right before 4pm, anyways) at some time between 2:00p and a little after 3:00pm a previous guest called with a concern regarding their $100 deposit that was never refunded back to their card after they checked out on March 29. The desk staff informed the caller that was it was refunded on the hotels end and that she would “escalate it to accounting”. After hanging up with the caller, the staff member declares to her co-worker (in the same volume as they scream out all of our personal information) “I’m not escalating anything”, and proceeds to cackle loudly like she thought it was funny.
All of your front desk dayshift staff need to be fired and replaced.

Only things were I weren’t able to check in till 8 due to the air show and late check outs. Also, the AC didn’t work. Not a huge deal because i opened my patio door for a good breeze.

Friendly staff & housekeeping is impeccable! The hotel is not updated (think 1970’s) and we needed more outlets. A power strip worked well. The bed was easy to sleep on (soft king). Cheapest room I found on the beach and worth every penny!! (5 nights across the street from the beach S-Th. $244 Total!) Full fridge/freezer and a microwave, no kitchen. 1 table & 1 desk with large working area. The room is spacious and not cramped. Restroom area is small. One sink vanity seperate from shower and facilities. In walking distance to most. (1 mile) Housekeeping comes every 3 days to empty trash and swap out dirty towels for clean. Would definitely recommend!! One minute walk to the beach, McGuires (steak & seafood) and a couple bars within a block. Tons of shopping & restaurants about a mile away.
We went to visit the ocean and recharge so we didn’t try the pool or the other hotels we had access to (3 or 4 neighboring hotels). The pool bar only accepts cash & cards, no Apple Pay.

My kids loved the pool and easy access to the beach. The view from the balcony was picture perfect. The carpet was not torn but was out dated. The room was clean however the air was left off so we first got there it was a musky smell but after the air conditioner ran a few minutes it disappeared however for the price we definitely would go back

No paper in bathrooms not towels , only one blanket for the whole family , no shampoo conditioner , bottles were there but empty , coffee maker didn’t work and old as well was dirty when received, tv had no WiFi options and no channels , only good thing was the beautiful view to sea but if you don’t smoke yourself you’ll smell like marihuan in the pool ppl smoke freely disgusting having your kid there and ppl smoking this thing

We've stayed here before and only returned because we knew there was a heated pool. Upon arrival the pool was not heated but later was heated and comfortable. It's right on the water and we love the convenience. Staff was friendly. The room was under stocked, there was no shower curtain, hand towels, wash cloths and only 1 blanket for 2 beds. The kitchen lacked many things we needed, no dish cloths, no dish soap, no oven mitt, no baking sheets. We made do because we were just excited to be at the beach and know everyone has bad days sometimes so I assume they're understaffed. Oh and someone was smoking at the pool, so that was gross. For the price, we still like to stay here. If the price were any higher we would not stay, it was actually a little higher than we would've liked to pay.

Penthouse carpet and bathroom floor had huge horrible stains. The lounge chairs out the balcony were worn and ripped. And they were our of towels at check-in. So we had to use our room towels for beach towels. And I had to air dry after getting out of the shower that evening. The masterbed room was a little outdated and the bed wasn't very comfortable. The guest bedroom had black mold like spots on the sheets. The staff was nice.

Definitely not like the pictures that were shown online. Needs a lot of updating. Lounging chairs looked to have mold. Gym was so small and dirty. One of the elevators broke and was not working for the rest of our visit. Also almost got stuck on the one that was working. No phone in the room so if we needed something from front desk we would have to go to it. And last but not least one of the workers came in the room without knocking to see if it was occupied. Pretty creepy.

This property is right on the beach, at a quiet end of the strip. Very close to pier park. The rooms are dated but clean and large. If updated would be 5 stars. There is no floor to floor ice makers, or breakfast but there is an ice box you can buy bags of ice and a fridge in the room. Overall we really enjoyed it for what we paid. Parking is the only real issue at this hotel and you have to pay a resort fee that doesn’t really cover anything resort like.

We have stayed this hotel twice. The kids enjoyed the hot pool which is open 24 hour 7 days a week, and we were finding sand crabs walking in the dark in the beach. That was funny. The sea view from the balcony is great. But, be careful when booking because the hotel does have another attached part cross the street with spacious parking lot where having no sea view at all.

Bring your cleaning wipes, the counter tops, table and chairs needed to be wipe down, however the room was clean an neat.

The soaps for you smelled great but very water down.
I was able to watch the house keeping after day 2, as we all know sand is everywhere.
They came in vacuum, swept and very pleasant.

The pool and hot tub was/is very nice.
Just wish those of us that do visit would pick up after themselves, not always the staff issue when trash is left.

Not the newest up to date Hotel but it was really nice, smaller friendlier and the Views
