Me and the family needed this restart and refresh. This place is centrally located to everything. The lazy river was closed but the other pools were open. (Someone took my Birkenstock sandals from the pool area) I am still in shock because they were right beside my chair and I never left the area.. so disappointing, but I guess they needed them more than me. Overall met lots of friendly people and enjoyed our stay. Easy parking, clean fully stocked room and beautiful sunrise from beach view.

The property is owned by two different entities therefore the consumer is caught in the middle and is told we don’t do that call them oh call them we don’t do that scenario very confusing. The appliances were aged and the sofa was very used and lumpy. The indoor pool was closed and no one notified the guests who were arriving to ask if they wanted to cancel their room and book somewhere else not courtesy of any kind was given.

Stay away

This is the email I sent the property the next day. We had checked out a few hours after checking in, it was that bad. I thought someone would have called or emailed us by now. We haven't heard back from my email or my message here on hotels.com.

Good Afternoon,

Based on this email I'm going to assume you did not speak with your check in crew.
I would like to request a refund.

We checked in around 6PM. Got to the room, there was an awful odor in the condo. We opened the doors, and turned on the fan to air out the room.  I took a quick shower, water wouldn't drain. We had a dinner reservation and didn't have time to address. We got back around 9/930. The halls smelled like pee and Marijuana. Even though we tried to air out the room, it still smelled like cheap dollar store powder carpet cleaner - everywhere. The water in the kitchen sink wouldn't drain. The sofa looks like it should have been replaced 5 years ago, we couldn't even sit on it, it was that gross. Everything was dated and in dire need of something. When we went to check out at 930PM (same night), the only thing the staff had to say was \"oh no\", no offer for a new room or maybe a move to your other facility? They were very nice and not rude, just not super helpful.

I’ve had better in 3rd world countries...

Honestly one of the worst stays of my entire life from beginning to end.

Let me start off by saying the Grand Shotes Hotel and Horizon on 77th are in a messy divorce and neither of them are very helpful. It’s like they don’t want to talk about their situation, leaving the customers totally unhappy and confused.

Grand Shores owns this listing.
You check in at their hotel but you stay at the one next door. Confusing process which cause check in to take nearly 90 minutes as we encountered rude person after person who didn’t know much.

After check in we found our room to 100% not be a ‘resort’. For the additional $45 resort fee - one would expect beach towels (for example). Nope!

Now comes some of the issues with the room...
You have control of the A/C within reason - when I got there the room was 76 and like a sauna, you can only lower it down to 68 degrees.

The coffee pot - broken.
The oven - didn’t close
Master shower - wouldn’t come out of the shower head.
2nd shower - base of the shower head rusty.
Beach chair on patio - looks like it’s seen 8 season.
Bed - could feel every spring pressing into my hip bone and ribs.

And now for the icing on the cake - a maintenance guy from Bluegreen who wasn’t suppose to enter the room came in to change the air filter - without knocking.

Discussed all of this with the night manager - he apologized and gave us a comp’d breakfast.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here - ever.

The rental unit was in terrible shape.... carpet torn, old sofas, mattress stained, dirty looking carpet....bad first and last impression.
EXPEDIA should not get involved with such units. Bad reflection on EXPEDIA.

Would go back again

Love the layout. Nice view. Would definitely stay again! :) Lovely kitchen. Housekeeping brought up a baking pan I needed that was not already in the kitchen. Storage drawer in the stove was a bit tricky to close but no big deal. Both toilets kept running and maintenance worked on both but one continued to run. Probably should have called them back again. If that’s the worst thing to happen life is grand!

Had to check in at the neighbor hotel, the process was time consuming and the staff seemed rather annoyed to provide assistance. It was an unpleasant and confusing check in, hotel was nice, location is great mix of beach and plenty of vegetation. By staff i mean the receptionist on both check in sections.

Good place to family vacation

This is at least the second time we stay here. Two bedrooms with a full kitchen. So it is easy to prepare breakfast and cook some seafood. Very close to the ocean. The warm pool is kind of small, so if the weather is very cold, the choice is limited.

I reserved an ocean front room and I got a ocean view room. The person that came to clean the room just used the key instead of knocking first. That was a downfall for me. I plan to visit again the weekend after Valentines and wish to get the ocean front for an additional discount.

Check in time not very accurate

Knowing that check in time was not until 4PM, we stopped in and browsed around the area we were staying. We arrived at Horizon 77 at 3:55 PM and told our rooms were not yet ready but would be in approx 15 minutes. That would have been ok, but it was 45 more minutes before we got to check in. at the desk we were offered another room, but then found out none were available. Check in time should be accurate, especially if check out has to be. This was the first time we have been there and my wife and I brought our 3 grown children with us. An hour wait to check in after a 4 hour drive to get here is not good for repeat business. All staff appeared to be working very hard, so I have to call it like I see it--Management.

Quiet, spacious and family oriented

Check in was a breeze. Parking was plentiful and we never had a problem finding a spot where we wanted. The 3 bdrm condo was very very spacious and easily fit my husband and I in the king room (with a master bath that had a whirl pool tub and separate access to the balcony), our 2 year old and 1 year old in the queen room (with a free crib for my younger one and their own smaller balcony) and my 12 year old and her friend in the double queen room (which had a seperate entrance to the bathroom). Full kitchen with cookware and utensils, washer and dryer, lots of storage space and seperate living room. It was very homey and livable. We also had unlimited free movie rentals! My kids enjoyed the lazy river and pools and the beach was a 4 minute walk away. Definitely will be staying again!

Make sure you confirm the room before arriving

Got to Horizon to find out the room I booked was not described properly in the add. Arrived to find out the King bed , and the Queen bed rooms that I needed, turned out to be on a King bedroom for 4 people. So we had to pick up and move to their sister hotel and that process took about 4 hours of negotiation, was hung up on by staff personell, etc. The manager was very accomodation once I got to her, but the staff at Horizon on 77th really didn't care what issues I had.

Quick Getaway

Location was not directly on the beach, but was inside the block. Ocean view was not good. Room faced away from ocean on crescent shaped hotel. Most of the front desk staff were knowledgeable and helpful, but a couple were not. Pool and rooftop terrace hours too short. Decent, but not impressed.

Never Fails!

This hotel continues to amaze me each time I stay. I go to the beach alot in the cold and warmer months. For the past year THIS has been the place that i stay. I have stayed in the one, two, and three bedrooms that they have availible. Every time I have been sooo comfortable. The only thing you have to leave the room for is the beach (thats why your there) and food (kind of need it)All of the ammenities are what you need. I kind of almost dont want to give a good review because then I wont be able to stay there anymore because its full all the time. The only downside I had here is being about 3 miles away from the action but honestly the older i get lol the further i want to be. AWESOME hotel guys 5 thumbs up

The Horizon on 77th was awful!! Customer service was just like the condition of the hotel, horrible. The hotel was not clean. I was very disappointed with my overall experierence at The Horizon on 77th. I would have cancelled my reservation, but I didn't have much success trying to find another room since it was Spring Break.

Weekend Getaway

The room had an unpleasant smell when you first enter inside. It eventually fades away. Carpet was a little wet.The beds was very uncomfortable, to the point of feeling the beds springs. The view was amazing, but I was little upset because I ask for a ocean view, and ended up with a partial ocean view. The hotel is far away from the main strip of Myrtle Beach. Overall I rate this hotel at 3 stars.

Wonderful accommodations

The hotel was described accurately on the website. The location was ideal, as it was only a short walk to the beautiful beach. The only down side was that you could hear your neighbors if they were extremely loud. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and plan on staying here again in the future.

Very nice rooms but you cant call it resort!

This hotel has got excellent clean rooms. The housekeepers were very nice and did their job well.
Our internet password didn't work for 2 days!! We paid the resort fee for 4 nights which was including the internet.

The thing that you have to notice is the hotel has ocean view not ocean front! so the hotel doesn't have any access to the beach. you have to get to the beach via the street.

The only thing that I was disappointed with was the walk to the beach. Next time I would like to walk out to the beach from the hotel. I can not walk long distance in the heat. I did enjoy my stay.

It was a very nice room. To get to the loby was hard to find. When I went to go back to the car it was hard to find the right floor and the staff seemed to have no clue. A guest helped me get to the right floor. We asked to stay an additional day they took my credit card info again and said ok but we would have to move another room, we were ok with that and then were told they did not have a room for us that night and we would have to move to another hotel so we just went back to PA instead

Too expensive for 2bedroom suite

The hotel is nice and the rooms are nice and clean however too many added fees tacked on to our bill at check in. I will not return. I had to pay an extra $300.00 for resort fees, resort taxes, processing fees, processing taxes. Be sure to know how much your bill will be before you arrive!

Great stay at Horizon

The room was great and the location was close to most major attractions and the beach. The amenities were nice as well, including the indoor/outdoor pools and fitness room. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, and return again sometime!

Girls Trip

The only negative we had was due to the noise during the tail of \"sport bikers week\". Once those folks cleared out it was blissful.

Enjoyed the morning walk on the beach.

We had a very relaxing visit for the one night we stayed. Since it was only for one night, we did not want to pay $20 for a two hour sit on the beach in the morning. I wish there would have been complimentary chairs available to use. We forgot to set our clocks ahead and someone on the beach reminded us of the time. The front desk was very understanding and gave us extra time for checking out.

This hotel was close to the beach. Great for a family to stay at that would like the privacy of multiple bedrooms. Also, it was in a location that offered a quiet atmosphere but still close enough to get to activities.

The stay was good. The suites are full apartments with a kitchen. All the comforts of home. There are no ice machines available though because you can make your own ice. The vending machines lacked choice for snacks. We were surprised to learn the restaurant closes at 9 pm. I am assuming it is due to not yet being \"season.\" The hallway is confusing especially if you are part of a group like we were (wedding party) and we were spread between two buildings. We had to access the sixth floor terrace to get to the other side of the building and take the elevator to the 8th floor. Housekeeping was great keeping up with the wedding party's constant need for extra towels. Hotel was clean! We would definitely stay here again.

The rooms are very nice- great location

The rooms are very nice and updated nicely. The location was perfect for us because it was within a very close drive to many very nice restaurants and also a wonderful Fresh Market. There was a nice whole foods restaurant with wonderful vegetarian options. We also ate an amazing dinner the last night at the Collectors Cafe which was AMAZING. Also, the Tanger Outlet malls are just two miles north. we drove all the way down to the one south of town off of 501.

The only thing that made our stay not as pleasant as it could have been was one of the girls at the front desk. The first day we checked in, she seemed pretty salty so we passed it off as just having a bad day. her attitude never improved and anything we asked for or needed whether it was directions or recommendations seemed like a colossal burden for her. She never smiled and barely looked up from her computer to make eye contact or help us. The gentleman that works there was great- if it weren't for him I would have had a very negative impression of their front desk staff.

We would return there because it was very nice and was perfectly situated close to everything.

Spring Break

Since its opening i have been a returning guest. The property is well kept. The staff is very polite and helpful, they seem to be freshening up the resort before the summer vacationers arrive ( painting hall ways , rooms and replacing worn furniture. Great Time

Great place to Stay!!!

It has an awesome view, great rooms, very clean, and the pools are amazing! I would definitely stay there again. It also has a restaurant attached. The separate bedrooms and having a kitchen was really nice. LOVED IT!!!!

Decent condo at Myrtle Beach. Clean with amenities such as indoor-outdoor pool with lazy river, ample free indoor parking and small view of ocean. Smallish condo not as comfortably laid out as others. Somewhat inconvenient at north end of Myrtle Beach away from both Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach destinations. Fairly non-aggressive effort at scheduling a condo sales meeting.

Ocean View does not mean its beside the ocean. We could see the water... if you sqent and look a little to the left! The living area was small and seemed cluttered. The master bedroom was spacious and nice. The room was clean and temperature ready for us.

The staff was very pleasant and helpful when we required directions and obtained tickets for one of the local theatres. The rooms were clean and bright and the cleaning staff were very efficient. The parking area is well lit and clean. This was our third vacation at this location and we are looking forward to next season.

Love the accommodations, but...

I'd love to stay here again but would point out that carpet and sofa were visibly dirty. A little disappointed. We covered the sofa with a blanket and kept feet covered indoors.

Awesome First Time Experience!

The view from our 8th floor balcony was spectacular! The condo clean and spacious; staff friendly and helpful. The only glitch was that the sofa bed was busted, apparently from an earlier tenant. We ended up putting one person on the couch (unfolded, so it was just a couch) and the other on the chaise lounge from the balcony the first night; it took all day the second day for them to repair it, therefore compromising our privacy. They were apologetic, but said they could not just bring in a different sofa bed. There was no discount or comp offered for our trouble. Outside of that, we loved the stay, the beach was wonderful; less the a block away, and visible from the balcony. We had covered parking. Almost perfect!

Roach lookin bugs in the room...

You have no privacy on ur balconies have to keep all windows curtains closed due to seeing straight into other rooms worse stay at a hotel everthen on top of it all around 2am i was awaken by a roach lookin bug crawling on me in the bed.....hotel staff wasnt concerned and expkained it wasnt a roach.....yuck either way......once out on balcony DONT close the doorall the way if no one else is in room because you WILL get locked out......sat on the balcony while my husband was out at the store smh i was heated to say the least....I was very thankful we only booked one night at this dump.....WILL.NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN NOR WILL NEVER SPEAK OF THIS DUMP TO ANYONE UNL
