Our first all inclusive resort we have ever been to. It was amazing! Food was delicious. The pool and bar were exceptional. The staff were helpful and were always attentive.

Beautiful beach and resort. Everyone was super polite and helpful. Resort is huge and definitely not enough trolleys. From the family rooms to the beach is a long walk also a long walk to the buffet. Teen club is a joke literally nothing in there, the pictures made it look really nice and big but it's super small. Glad we went once but we will not be going back. Too many other resorts fit us so much better

If you want to vacation on a budget, this is the place. However, despite this place being semi-affordable, I do think it was still overpriced for what you get. The best part of the property was the vegetation. The resort is massive and for every meal you will need to take a shuttle which comes in 15 minute intervals. Not very senior citizen or stroller friendly, since there is a lot of getting on and getting off. The staff is pretty friendly but if you want something done you need to demand it. My app wasn’t working to make a dinner reservation and they were telling me to walk to guest services instead of trying to fix the app. After persisting for help, they said the manager could fix it and he ended up doing so in one second and they looked annoyed. The first impression of the property was horrendous due to Karina, a lady working in the lobby having a big attitude and making me feel unwelcome. I cannot believe she is allowed to treat customers like this, she needs to be fired. All I asked her was if there were any other places to get coffee given the bar at the lobby was closed. She redirected me to the bar at the lobby and I told her it was closed due to the machine being broken to which she rolled her eyes and said “Oh my god calm down.” and “WOW you need to RELAX!” after interacting with her the door to my room suddenly stopped working. Watch out for her. Buffet was good and French, Indian and Mexican. Italian was not good at all. Only ok coffee is lobby made by Jesus.

Our first all inclusive vacation was amazing! No complaints whatsoever, all the staff were very helpful, spoke to us in either Spanish or English, the entire resort smelled good and clean. Good was amazingly good as well!

Beautiful hotel, but don’t expect pool side service. If you are use to any other destinations in Mexico like Cabo or Mazatlán, you will have to go to bar to get your drinks and go eat inside the restaurants. The breakfast buffet was great but the dinner situation sucked. Even if you tried to make a reservation they would tell you they were full but if you bought a bottle of wine some how you could get in and once in they places were literally 25% full and staff members standing around. What is the point of all inclusive if you have to pay extra for just basic stuff like dinner. I get they want you to get a time share but I paid more not having a time share! Probably would not return. Our room was very nice though, but the dinner situation and no pool side service really sucked!

Let me start by saying the food variety is amazing, ocean is beautiful and staff is super friendly.

Ladies on the beach( Claudia and Monse) tend to provide nice entertainment.

I highly recommend this resort.

Nice stay, they upgraded our room after the first night since our thermostat didn’t work properly and we got an ocean view. Staff was good, food was better than some other resorts we’ve been to. Beach was nice but learning we prefer ones we can snorkel from. Pools nice, some activities. Overall good value!

Most of the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Our guest services representatives went above and beyond. I lost some jewlery in the spa and they were able to retrieve it!

The spa was a great experience!
Wild life was fun!
Had all the amenities we needed to stay entertained.

It is a large resort, required a lot of walking if you did not want to wait for the shuttle. Elevators in our building were not operational.

Food was good (not great) throughout the resort. We liked Asana the best for al la carte.

arrived at the hotel, firstly it looks out dated, the elevator to our level was not working and then our wrist bands to enter the room didn't work. Once we got a new room sorted, the furniture and pull out sofa was dirty and had stains, the shower water pressure doesn't work properly... and worst yet... bed bugs!!! my son got hit hard the most, the hotel doctor confirmed that the rash all over his body was caused by them...

the food it terrible, and the waiting time for the resort transit to get from one area of the resort to the other side is frustrating, I wouldnt waste my time and money on this place. never again..

Over all our stay is good the food are great staff are very friendly and helpful. rooms are always clean. The only. thing I don’t like it’s too far to the beach and most of all the restaurants are fully booked so we have no choice but to always eat at the buffet.. ocean is nice but too many seeweed so it’s hard to play at the sea.

The hotel was beautiful however the main lobby was very hot. The suite we stayed was clean but as we arrive the toilet was broken I have to ask them to fix it twice the sliding door is also hard to open they had to fix it during my stay. My suite was not cleaned everyday unless I put the sign to clean it and I’m not sure If there was a bed bugs in the bed my son was has three bites and got swollen. The food was great and the stuff will friendly but some stuff in the buffet and the pool bar are not welcoming and hard to approach. The massage spa was the best stuff was very friendly and the massage was very good. Over all I will rate my stay 7/10.

The Expedia Guest Team, Lyanya, Melisa, Maria and Mar were so helpful. The app wasn't working for us so we asked them to make dinner reservations at the on site restaurants. Thank you, ladies. Eat at the restaurants and avoid the buffet!
The resort itself is dated but comfortable. Walking around and learning where everything is easy. Our room was near the ocean, pools, buffet, sports bar and tram, everything needed was accessible. Beach bar closes at 6pm. Don't understand the negative reviews about having to walk as things are a little spaced out. Unless there is a medical reason or age, just take a leisurely walk and burn some calories. STAFF: check in/out, bellboys, maids & drivers were friendly and ready to help. The only real negative was the shower: no hot water and low water pressure. We adjusted and took quick, lukewarm showers. We let staff know but it didn't bother us.
INCEDENTALS: bring small bills, $1's ,$5's, 10's for tipping as it's is customary. Use the resort transport company Seek and Go for airport transfers. Just email the resort a few days ahead with air info and they arrange it for you. The reps wear green polo shirts and speak English. Don't use airport taxis. A half mile walk from the resort there is a group of shops/pharmacy for snacks, water, medicine, souvenirs and currency exchange. If needed get a taxi to/from Walmart, the drivers will wait for you. Pina Coladas & Margaritas on the beach? Yes please!! It's a slow pace, laid back vibe so enjoy it.

The property was a bit below average. Nice landscape. Clean room and public areas. However all the amenities inside room or outside are outdated. Staff are not consistent. Some are nice anh helpful. Some are not. Nightly entertainment programs were okay nothing special. Beach area is the only thing that stood out. Easy access, breezy and nice ocean view. Foods are below average. We tried all the restaurants that require reservations. French restaurant was nicely decorated but service was very slow. Foods are average. Italian restaurant got a 3 star out of 5 since some dishes were good (however no AC). El Gaucho got high mark with above average food quality. We ate breakfast there everyday and it was quite good. The Cupcake cafe drinks and pastries were substandard. We tried different pastries and they were all bland. no flavor at all even as simple as croissants. The property lacks of daily activities for young folks. For the prices paid we think it was just okay. We probably will stay somewhere next time. However one thing specifically stood out during our stay. They have a service called Guest Experience where some team members were dedicated to check on guests to assist whatever needed. Our lady (Mayar?) helped us with diner reservations and luggage transfer on check out. They were wonderful and friendly. They made our stay much more comfortable and were willing to change rooms when their elevators broke down for several days

Our stay at Sandos had some major inconsistencies that are worth noting, especially for anyone planning a group trip or wedding.
First, a big issue that should have been clearly communicated upfront: only the family/kids side has elevator access. The adult side does not, which created unnecessary inconvenience for several people in our group. That kind of detail matters when you’re coordinating travel for multiple guests.
The adult section overall felt outdated, and the WiFi was honestly terrible. For a resort, especially one hosting events like weddings, that’s not a small thing. One of the rooms in our wedding party actually flooded during the stay, which added stress to what should have been a smooth experience.
There were also some concerning oversights with event planning. The bridal suite included pork despite the bride clearly requesting no pork months in advance. That’s a pretty significant miss. On a slightly positive note, only one person in our group got sick, which is actually an improvement compared to reviews from a couple of months ago—but still not ideal.
Room service was essentially nonexistent. If that’s something you rely on or expect, you’ll be disappointed.
That said, I do want to give credit where it’s due. Most of the staff we interacted with were pleasant and helpful. Ester truly stood out she went above and beyond to accommodate us and made a noticeable difference in our experience. Also, the massage I had with Roz was genuinely pleasant

The staff in this report are very nice and helpful. The facilities in some areas are very modern and nice especially adult section. However the complex is very spread out and if you're in the family area, rooms are a bit dated. There is a long walk to the main pool and beach, main buffet area. (The smaller 'local' pools did not have an atmosphere). Be prepared as the shuttle cart is not always around and available. It's not very accessible for people in wheelchairs or buggy as elevators were not working. If these are fixed, and people this would be helpful. Overall the resort is nice and friendly staff but just the design/location is not ideal.

Sandos Playacar completely exceeded our expectations for our first family vacation, and so much of that is thanks to the Expedia team on-site, especially Maria. From helping us secure restaurant reservations to coordinating our checkout seamlessly and even sending a surprise to our room, they went above and beyond in ways that made us feel truly taken care of. That kind of service is rare and didn't go unnoticed. The whole Sandos staff was friendly and helpful.

The resort itself is stunning. With so many pool options, there's something for everyone, and we never felt crowded or like we were fighting for space. One of our favorite unexpected touches was the walk from our room to the beach. Yes, it's a long walk, but it's lined with animals that made every trip feel like a little adventure. Our family looked forward to it every time. Our room was ground level and pool facing which we really enjoyed.

One heads-up for families with younger kids: the arcade has a minimum age of 10, which wasn't obvious from the photos. Our son was a bit disappointed when he found out, so it's worth knowing ahead of time so you can set expectations before you arrive.

Overall, Sandos Playacar is a beautiful, well-run resort with heart. If you're considering it for a family trip, we'd say go for it without hesitation. We can't wait to come back.

I had a great room in the adults only section and loved it! The resort seems huge so there is a lot of walking but the adults section was pretty central. I do wish that adults only pool had the swim up bar and music playing like the family pool. Resort was clean and the staff was friendly. I did arrive to the resort pretty late and the restaurants were all closed. I ordered room service and it took probably 10-15 minutes to get through. Once finally ordered, I believe my food took 45 mins to arrive. I hit the buffet and the taco place for meals and loved everything!

Our stay at this resort was nothing short of phenomenal. We visited to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday and brought along a group of 17 friends and family—and somehow, every single detail for every single person was absolutely perfect.

The resort itself is stunning, with gorgeous beachy vibes and beautifully maintained grounds that instantly put you in vacation mode. There are multiple pools to choose from, each with its own atmosphere, and the drinks were consistently fantastic. The food truly exceeded expectations—delicious across the board, with so much variety that everyone in our group found something they loved at every meal.

One of the most unique and charming touches was the animals on the property—they were adorable and added such a fun, memorable element to the experience.

What truly made our trip unforgettable, though, was the staff. Melisa, Zyanya, Mar, and Maria went above and beyond in every way imaginable. They anticipated our needs, checked in on us constantly, and even took the time to text us to help coordinate dinner reservations for our large group. Their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care made us feel incredibly special. Thank you all again!!

May elevators didn’t work , some of them work but the bottom of the 2nd floor didn’t work so I couldn’t take the elevator. The property is big and it’s a lot of walking , something’s the trolly is full so you still have to walk . The beach have a lot of seaweed , the first day the seaweed was all over the water , then the next day was in the sand and bugs were flying around . It’s very sad

The property was absolutely beautiful! I usually have an issues finding chairs at all-inclusives but I never felt like this was the case (or like I had to get up early to “claim” a spot). This resort is huge and I’m sure that helps! It’s nice for walking, but a shuttle is available for those who have mobility issues (it just takes some patience waiting for it to come around).
As someone traveling with adults and no children I also enjoyed there were adult-only sections! :)
The staff were all very kind, the ONLY concern I had during my stay (which some of my friends had the same issues), is that there seems to be either miscommunication or technical issues with their website and food reservation systems. Two times during my stay I visited guest services to ask about modifying the number of guests (they were very kind and able to help accommodate these requests) however, once I showed up to the restaurants, these modifications had not carried over and was almost denied entry both times. These were awkward interactions and I could feel frustration on the staff’s end (as I’m sure they encounter guests asking for modifications last minute quite often) however, this was not the case in my scenarios.
I do wish the restaurants were easier to reserve - there always seems to be open tables, which does allow for a more peaceful dinner experience, but it is unfortunate more people cannot enjoy them. I would recommend attempting to book them right after check in. Food is great! :)

Had to get up and down there by 6 am to save seats of which is very disturbing if you want to sleep in past six. Lots for choices to drink as well.

Sandos Playacar was an amazing all inclusive place to stay at! The food was very good and staff members Melisa, Zyanya, Majo, and Mar were very excellent! They reserved all of our dinner places for us and we had a big party, they did a good job at accommodating all of us. They constantly kept in touch with us and updating us and confirmed all dinners and communicated well. This place was excellent to stay at there was so many things to do and fun for the family of all ages!

Nice resort with friendly staff. Overall we had a great time. The animals throughout the resort were fun to see. Plenty of chairs at the beach. There were several issues that would make me hesitate to come back.
We were in the adult only section. The adult pool allows people to save chairs which is something I dislike but if there were enough chairs it wouldn’t be such a problem. Twice we were unable to sit at the pool. I did ask if they could put out more chairs. Didn’t happen.
Second the restaurant reservation system is horrendous. I was told to use the app. There were no open reservations for any of 6 restaurants for the first 4 nights. My daughter’s boyfriend was in contact with employee who was able to get us reservations for several nights. Restaurants were ok. Nice change from the buffet which was pretty good.
We had teenagers in our group but no young kids. There are activities for both. Seems very family oriented.
I would recommend for families with kids but there are better options in adult only resorts. We’ve stayed at several others that I would recommend.

The expedia staff on site (Melisa, Zanaya and team) are excellent. Really appreciated their attentiveness. They helped make the trip.

Rooms are good but could use some updating and air conditioners need updating. Room luggage racks would be good.

Bar staff were good. Adult pool and access seemed oversold, could never get in chairs at pool.

Speakers by pool and beach can be loud at times but just try and get seats away from there. Pools are great for kids and families.

There was no swim up bar at the adults only pool, only on the family side. We were constantly being approached by staff for massage, time share options, paid activities, etc. We could not find an adults only late night bar. Adults section is quite small, otherwise you have to mingle with the families.

The food was the best I've experienced at an all inclusive. (If you cannot get the reservation you want, keep trying, people cancel and openings happen).
Long and narrow resort, mobility options would on property would be nice. I had spinal surgery and made sure to book a scooter to be delivered. (Motion4rent)
Lots of activities available for adults and children. Wish the evening entertainment was earlier but we have a 2 hour time change so 😕
The staff was very gracious especially the ladies at the Expedia Desk. They checked in on our needs often and made sure our they were met, including repairing our sliding patio door.

The pools were great for the kids, with plenty of options from quieter spaces and more active areas. The beach was nice, but there was a lot of seagrass. We were still able to swim. The guest services staff of Melisa, Mar, Majo, and Zyanya made us feel like VIP's for the entire trip. They would check in with us daily to make sure everything was going well and if we needed anything. Certainly worth booking this hotel through Expedia.

We stayed in the adult only towers which are not updated. They had an older feel but they were clean and had everything we needed. The housekeepers did a great job. The grounds were beautiful. The staff was amazing. The adult only pool could use more shade/ chairs. Every chair at the adult only pool was taken before 8am so we always sat at the beach instead. Unfortunately the sargassum was early this year and there was a lot on the beach but it didn’t ruin our trip. The staff were amazing always helpful and friendly thank you to the experience team - Melisa, zyanya, mar and Maria were amazing and helpful with anything we needed. The seek and go helped set up our excursion and we used private transfer from Canadian transfer which was also great. We had ala carte italian and it was wonderful. The buffet was great so much selection and everything was good

This property was highly enjoyable. The rooms were clean and roomy. We loved the variety of pool areas to change up Centro day to day. Sandos has personalized Expedia reps to assist you on your stay to assure reservation bookings, help with excursions and always checked on us to assure our stay was enjoyable. The staff make amazing drinks and all the food and buffets had a wide variety of food and was tasty. Would def stay here again.

We spent most of the time in the adult only pool. It was very nice. Need to get there early to get chairs. They had fun activities every day. The adult only pool should have a swim up bar. Our room faced the beach. It was a lovely view. We did not really use the beach because of the sargussom. There was a lot of it in the ocean and on the shore. We did not notice a smell until our last day when we were leaving. The staff was wonderful. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I would especially like to recognize the Expedia reps at the hotel Melisa and Majo. They were fabulous. They helped make all of our dinner reservations, scheduled luggage pick up, gave us information about getting to 5th Avenue and checked in with us every day on What's App to see if we needed anything and how things were going. We were able to ask them questions and they would respond quickly. They made us feel special and were so attentive. The room was clean and roomy. Nice to have a balcony and ocean view. The air conditioning was very cold and we couldn't figure out how to turn it down. The water in the shower was not warm. It was cool. Neither of these were deal breakers. We managed. The room could use more hooks to hang wet bathing suits and towels. There were only 2 in the bathroom. We really enjoyed our stay. It was so relaxing. Just what we needed. We would recommend this place to others. We feel we got a good value for the price we paid. The food was good. All of the restaurants were good service.

We enjoyed our stay here at Sandos. Everything we needed was right on the resort property, so we did not have to leave at all during our stay. Our family enjoyed snorkeling, parasailing, and having our photos taken right on the property beach. We did wake up to cold water one morning but that was fixed in a timely manner.

Our ground floor room opened up to pool area which was relatively quiet, with a poolside cocktail bar and daily lunch served at the small restaurant. The hotel was very comfortable, with walkways through the jungle to the beach with many small mammals and lizards along the way.
We loved the sustainability of the complex (no plastic bottles, straws etc) and excellent restaurants.
The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially the Guest Experience team of Melisa, Zyanya, Mar & Maria who helped with excursions and restaurants. They also arranged a surprise cake to celebrate our anniversary, which was very nice.
Overall, an excellent relaxing place, but does need some renovation during the offseason.

The night shows could use upgrades and be earlier than 9pm for families and the gym and coffee shop open too late in the morning for us. The problem was that they only had two trolleys running so you would have to wait up to 20 minutes for your trolley. They need to add more trolleys

What really made the trip was the personal treatment and service from MELLISA, MARIA , and MAR.Tho I had no personal contact with Zyanya she did facilitate some of our bookings for the restaurants. I had left my iPad in a taxi when we came from the airport and Maria got me in touch with the right people and translated for me so I was able to get it back quite easily. The girls facilitated our bookings for the restaurants also helped sort out restaurant mishaps for our party of 12 ! A big thank you to them! It was always a pleasure to see and be greeted by them in the lobby and on the paths! We enjoyed the pools, slides, and entertainment. I especially loved the coffee bar!

Room - The room was in good condition. It was a little dirty in places but nothing too serious. They did not restock anything the whole time we were there. There was also not any snacks in the room, which was wierd

Staff - It was not the best service I have ever had. The only people that seemed attentive were the people trying to sell you something. I only got a cocktail waitress to bring us drinks twice the whole time we were there.The staff at the restaurants refused to work with us.

Resort - This resort is gigantic, if you don't want to walk miles upon miles a day, don't go here.

Restauraunts - This was the worst part of our trip. It was absolutely impossible to get reservations for any of the restaraunts the whole time we were there. We were forced to eat the buffet. We finally got into a restauraunt by a fluke and they were not accomodating at all. We had two extra people in our party and they would not let them eat with us, they said they were full. The entire meal all the tables around us were completely empty. So for one, they could have eaten with us. But also, why is every single restaurant booked up every night when they are half empty? I am also used to resorts that have multiple bar and food options throughout the day. I was very very disappointed in this resort.

Beach - Honestly , this was the only thing I liked about this resort. The beach is by far and away the best beach I have every seen in Mexico. It was gorgeous, clear water, white sand. Loved it.

We paid extra to have adults only and found very little amenities catering to adults only. Our room was surrounded by kids. If you want the best option you’ll have to pay even more for the elite status. On top of this, for the price we paid, our room was dated. Then, we were constantly locked out due to a faulty door knob. And our safe always glitched. The al a carte restaurants were ok. Two that we had were great one not so much. The property is very spaced out. For the size of the property there should be more options for meals. And it would be nice to see the meals changing at the buffet. It was the same food all the time. Food was sub par.

My Husband and I went to this resort in the first week of February 25. Celebrating an anniversary. We stayed in building one near the beach. We didn’t have a view of the ocean but the forest outside of our deck was lovely to look at and gave us privacy. This is an older building. They need updated lighting, electrical outlets, and some color. But otherwise comfortable. It was a nice size hotel room which fit our needs.

As part of our Expedia experience, we were treated very well and had meals in the à la carte restaurants at six of our seven nights. Our two favourites were the Italian and the Mexican. The French would be third to those. I would not repeat the Argentinian visit. This resort has so much to offer and not enough character. Space here to cover it all, but I would say that by using Expedia we had an amazing trip. the staff were incredible in the resort and we were never devoid of something to do places to eat and beauty all around. The beach is amazing. We especially enjoyed our stop at the coffee café and the Mexican burrito taco spot beside it. We don’t typically think of going back to a place afterwards because we like to change things up, but we would definitely take the family to this resort.
