6 of us stayed at Riu Playacar and we ALL loved the resort! Rooms were spotless. Pool was clean and perfect temps. The staff in every department was exceptional . This was our 5th time there and will def go back ! They have games everyday on the beach and pool. Food was very good in every restaurant and buffet. Night entertainment was very good too.

I was disappointed that there was no room service. I’ve stayed at many all inclusive resorts and this is the first that does not have room service or anything available to eat after 10pm which was a real bummer. Customer service from all hotel staff was great! No complaints there.
The suites definitely need to be upgraded and remodeled, as they are pretty old. The bathroom has no privacy and it was a weird set up, no door no curtain or anything to change privately after a shower. The food is ok. Not bad but not good.
The phone from the room wasn’t working most of the time and when we could call the front for sometíng, most times they disnt answer which was frustrating. I may try another Riu but I wouldn’t stay at this property again.

Great location, beautiful and spacious beach. A bit of seaweed by the water, but that didn’t bother us. Great staff. Room was close to the amphitheater, extremely loud. Be aware, you won’t sleep until 11pm. Good food, especially dinner at Jade. Great for all ages, no weird naked people. We felt safe at all times. It’s about 40 minute walk to all the tourist shopping.

This resort is quite small but it doesn’t feel small because there’s always something to do. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, especially the days they had papaya. Everything was clean for the most part. I saw the staff cleaning the walkways early mornings. The only thing that didn’t seem too clean was the coffee area in the breakfast/dining hall. I saw a couple of small roaches or insects that looked like roaches in that area. It didn’t turn me off from getting coffee but something to note.

The property was very clean, although getting refills of our in room bar and new water bottles was spotty. The staff was very friendly, shout out to Mayra at the snack bar who usually worked mornings, She was always so friendly and worked her butt off all by herself a lot of the time. Location is great. Not particularly lively, more geared toward family entertainment... or seniors... but you can walk to the Riu Tequila accross the street and they have a good sports bar and Playa del Carmen is really close. One thing I didn't like was the lighting in the room. Every light is like a flourescent white light, I felt like I was in a hospital or something. If you want to read or relax while your partner is sleeping, bring a little light, cause your bedside one will light up the whole darn room. Some ambient lighting would be nice. And the food. So, I'm a vegan, with some allergies. They have made a nice effort to put little signs on maybe 60% of the food... but they are so wrong hahha. Apparently Shrimp crackers are vegan, pasta with a dairy lable is vegan, chicken salad is vegetarian etc. Luckily I think they have the little icons mostly right, so I ignore the vegan and vegetarian signs and look at the icons. Oh, this vegan item as pork in it. Duly noted lol. I also wish they enforced the \"where kids can go\" rule better, kind of annyoing to not get a seat at the swim up bar cause a bunch of kids are sitting in front of the \"Adults only\" sign.

Our room was spacious clean and comfortable. One thing to be aware of is there is no elevators in the buildings. We were given a room with 2 flights of stairs but on request they moved us to an easier access room.
The beach is beautiful and the pools lovely and clean. Ww enjoyed the sereque, coati and iguanas who are adorable and well cared for. We will be back!

We have one of the room toilet flooded and water flowing out almost to the front door. So phone receptionist. Someone came just before 11pm. Unfortunately there’s a do not disturb sign on door, the maid knocked didn’t come in. We got back to room right after the maid left. Then phone back to reception. Maintenance came fixed the toilet but not responsible for cleaning. Then phone again. But this time receptionist said no one to clean till morning. Very disappointed also mentioned to give us towels to clean ourselves except not enough because they ran out of towels. So instead the hotel got us one room just for one night and there’s cockroach in the washroom. It’s disappointing and unacceptable the staff has the courage to have guess clean the mess.

When in Cancun previously my husband and I stayed at Riu Riviera Maya and that was top tier but this time we traveled with family so I chose Playacar for the value. The customer service was 3 out of 10 and the food was a 7 out of 10. This property had no elevator and the towels hanging outside of the rooms was giving Myrtle Beach. I pretty much got what I paid for and that was nobody’s fault but mine. I would not recommend this property

Questionable 5 Star - need fly catchers over food?

Food was good, but you could get some of the same foods in other restaurants, it would have been better to introduce new foods rather than having the same foods. Bed was fine no issues. Internet was fine no issues.
Hygiene with flies on food, they need fly catchers and repellents around the hotel. I saw loads of flies on the fruit which was a bad experience, the service staff didn’t care when I pointed it out.
Hotel check-in was very poor! Not impressed I’m filing a complaint for this because we missed out on key activities.

The rooms need a little updating, and the AC didn't work well in one of our two rooms... they attempted to repair it, but it wouldn't get low enough to combat the humidity. The water in the sink is not drinkable, which is understandable in Mexico, but most of the places I've stayed before you don't need to worry about brushing your teeth with the sink water.

Infelizmente o salgazo impediu de usarmos o mar, porém o que não demandava de ações externas, o hotel entregou. Senti um pouco de falta de música, já que só tocava na piscina com bar para adultos.
