We recently stayed at Sandos Cancun and had a very enjoyable experience overall.

The location is excellent, with beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea and easy access to the Hotel Zone. The property is well maintained, the beach is stunning, and the staff were consistently friendly, courteous, and eager to help. The rooms were comfortable, common areas were clean, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming.

The all-inclusive package offered good value, and we particularly enjoyed the pools, entertainment, and the overall resort ambiance. They really keep guests engaged with various fun activities.

However, a couple of areas where the hotel could improve. The biggest issue during our stay was the lack of water supply in our room one night. Despite multiple calls to the front desk, the problem was not resolved promptly, which was quite inconvenient.

As vegetarians, we also found the dining options somewhat limited. While there were vegetarian dishes available, there was not enough variety, and the food labeling could be much clearer. Some dishes were not properly tagged, making it difficult to identify vegetarian-friendly choices with confidence.

Despite these shortcomings, we had a pleasant stay and would recommend Sandos Cancun to travelers looking for a beachfront resort with excellent service, great views, and a relaxing vacation experience. Thankyou.

We stayed in a water view suite. The building is very old and had cracks in the wall.
I attempted to tell stafff but they were less than useful.
My room door had an air leak that was sealed with a temporary patch and then the slider was broken so air was allowed to come in the room all night

We stayed at Sandos for 6 days. Each day they had fun activities by the pools. The Staff were so fun and energetic. Romario & Karla were great. Mitzy & Alex as well. Josetta at the reservation desk was so helpful. Erich at the concierge was friendly. Greg helped us with an Excursion and our Guide Jorge and driver Jose made our experience so fun. Mayte and her partner at Bar 1 was so very great, friendly and fun. If we go back to Cancun, we will absolutely stay at Sandos again!

Very nice resort. Clean and well maintained. The property is a little on the small side but that's not a bad thing here. There are 3 pools plus the ocean. There are four restarants, one of which is a buffet. Overall a very nice resort.

The hotel has a great location and the room itself was clean and visually nice, but unfortunately the overall stay was disappointing. The building feels very old and poorly maintained. The bed and mattress were terrible — extremely uncomfortable and definitely not suitable for anyone with back pain or even minor back issues.

Another major issue was the electrical outlets. Almost all of them were loose and unusable, with chargers constantly falling out. The only usable outlet was the one in the bathroom, which became very inconvenient.

We also had issues with the toilet getting clogged during the stay. The food quality was average and nothing special.

Overall, while the location and cleanliness were good, the outdated facilities and uncomfortable bed made the experience frustrating.

If you’re looking for a place to just relax and sleep then this is the place for you. But if you like to eat this isn’t a place for you. Food is very limited and did not taste good. But the staff was very helpful and kind. And the property was clean. It is also good to know that this place is 35 mins for the city. Just small shops and hotels close by.

I’m sharing an honest review based on my 10 days stays. I chose this resort due to high ratings, but after my experience, I don’t understand how it scores near 5 stars—it feels more like a 3-star property.
Cons:
No assistance upon arrival.
Food quality is below average: limited variety, repetitive fruit, tough beef, and lack of appealing options.
Felt pressured by staff to leave positive reviews multiple times, which was uncomfortable and questionable.
Buildings are outdated.
Limited cabanas, must reserve early.
Beach often had strong waves, making swimming difficult (not the resort’s fault).

Pros:
Staff are friendly, hardworking, and attentive.
Room service and mini fridge restocking were good.

Final Verdict:
Despite great staff, the food quality, outdated facilities, and pressure for reviews were major downsides.
I would NOT recommend this resort and would not return.

Property seems to be getting run down. We stayed here a couple years ago and it was nice and looked good. This time the original room the ac did not cool the room down after running for 5 hrs on high at the lowest temp. Second room the ac leaked and the ceiling started falling to the floor. Did not want to change rooms again so we put a towel down and housekeeping came and took the ceiling pieces down.

The overall experience at this resort was disappointing. The hotel manager continuously pushed us to purchase a membership and kept offering different options even after we clearly declined. Instead of respecting our decision, the interaction became uncomfortable and overly pushy.

For the amount of money people spend here, I honestly do not think it is worth it. My recommendation would be to look into other resorts that focus more on guest experience rather than pressuring guests into memberships.

Had good amenities but only if you have a black band which is part of thier exclusive club. Cant have the basic of liquor like Tito’s vodka unless you have a black band. Food in every restaurant except the hibachi was terrible. Staff is friendlier this time than last but I understand they have done staff from a neighboring resort that closed. People seemed to really embrace them as they were on top
If thier game. Overall good experience except the good. That I would definitely have to think about before returning to Sandos.

It was a disappointing stay overall, the only positive points were the location, the beach, the staff, with the servers and entertainment group offering a nice and welcoming service and the spa services. Air conditioning work well, rooms and washrooms were old but decent space wise, side beach view and balcony were small but good. Restaurant and food quality were extremely poor, against the odds the buffet was the best option, offering fresh salads and decent breakfast. Bar menu and drinks were another big disappointment, with cocktails tasting just bad and draft beer in most of the bars not being even cold. The resort is mostly oriented for retired American and Canadian tourists, with night activities being not that exciting for young people, pool being death quiet after 4 due to the sun blockage of the hotel next door and bars being overall really quiet even at night. Beware of the extremely high rating for this place, as a Mexican-Canadian visitor being really honest will not recommend it in general.

I have a problem with the people booking the excursion, I bought tickets to Coco bongo and they didn't gave to me was they promise. So, don't trust this people. The music at the resort is horrible, barely they play Spanish song. The employees from the pool area, they are not much friendly. The entertainment at the pool, zero. So, I do not recommend this place for people they want have fun, meet people. It's a beautiful place, for people they like to sit and read a book. Cruz a guy booking massage, he is so nice.

HAD I VIEW OF THE BEACH AND OVER LOOKED THE POOLS. THE BUFFET MEALS WERE OK BUT NOTHING SPECTACULAR. THE DRINKS FROM THE BAR WERE GOOD. AC WORKED FINE. THE CONCIERGE DESK WAS ALWAYS VERY HELPFUL. WOULD ESPECIALLY LIKE TO THANK BELINDA AND JOSUE FOR THEIR HELP. I NEEDED SOMETHING ON LINE AND THEY DID A LOT OF SEARCHING ONLINE PLUS PHONING TO FIND WHERE I COULD GET IT, AND FOUND AFFORDABLE TRANSPORTATION WITH A TRANSLATOR .
THE AD SAYS THERE IS A HOT TUB AND THERE IS INSIDE THE SPA AND YOU HAVE TO PAY TO USE IT.
BE SURE TO PRINT OUT YOUR AIRPORT TO RESORT INFO IN CASE OF MISSED OR DELAYED FLIGHT BECAUSE DRIVERS WILL ONLY WAIT SO LONG BEFORE LEAVING AND YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR PICK UP EVEN IF YOU ARE LATE.

Really liked the the three pools, little different vibes at each one. Lots of activities to participate in and evening entertainment was good that we attended, starts kind of late but thats due to people who have late dinner reservations.
All the restaurants were great, very nice and tasty.

I had an incident where the elevator doors malfunctioned and slammed shut on me and would not release. My left arm was severely bruised and hurt. I went to the front desk and they offered me chocolates and an ambulance to the hospital. I declined as I did not want to go to a hospital in Mexico. It took a few days for them to fix the elevator and every time I went into it, I was afraid it was going to close on me again. The elevator doors had closed on a friend of mine a day before, for the rest of this holidI was afraid to go into the elevator, and since I was on the upper level of the hotel to. I asked for an incident report and basically it said they offered me some hydrotherapy which I took, which was not great and completely useless for me. They offered me dinner, but basically it was the same dinner I would’ve gotten anyway it was just in a different room. Honestly, I felt like they just didn’t care and I was a nuisance. several times I asked for an incident report and what they gave me was was a paper with something written about offering me a special dinner. I don’t really know what I expected, but I expected to be cared about a bit more than that. I will never visit this hotel again a really disappointing holiday. The music was very, very loud and nonstop from morning till night, girls that were dressed like strippers danced at the pool for way too long and the music was just so aggressive, even though other people asked for a change of music.

Food was hit or miss at restaurants; Some days good others day just got by. Poolside brick oven pizzas are so good and room service food is great every time. Also ceviche at St Trop is so good!
Had to ask for refill on room filtered water multiple times, seemed to work once we left a big enough tip (IMO). Staff is nice and friendly. Entertainment is good. Memorable staff is Josette and Alfonso. Can’t say enough great things about them. All staff is very attentive.
Most negative thing was probably that they hosted a wedding that happened outside our room. No way to avoid the noise if staying in the room. I would have liked to know just as a heads up, whether we booked elsewhere or kept busy during these hours. It was great music at the wedding which was a plus, also heard all the cheering and ‘ay ay ay’s’. I would never expect the wedding party to keep it down by the way, just a nice heads up from the resort would be appreciated.

The food at the buffet was top notch world class, the staff was fun and attentive, the spa was clean and organized, the daily band and singing entertainment at the pool was fun and exciting, the beaches were clean and beautiful. Had an excellent time at Sandos Cancun and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a wonderful, care free vacation in Cancun. The MTS ground transportation was spot on, there, on time and reliable. Recommend using it and read the instructions they provide carefully. You can't lose. Expedia was organized, received helpful texts during my stay. Frontier airlines was good.

Staff is great, customer service is great, food was good, conditions of elevators poor (slow / buttons not lightingup), room was beautiful (we had the suite), room shower facets broken / tricky to get hot water, spa amenities poor - jacuzzi water cold, locker room was coed (awkward using restroom while a man is at the urinal) n cold plunge floor felt slimy. Outside beach beds need fixing / updating. It's nice but there is a reason why it's reasonable priced for all inclusive in the hotel zona. Would we return? I don't so.

lots of seaweeds, furniture's unattended, lacking in staff. room has no veranda, it has window, but you get humidity after a while. The room has no reachable electric outlets, bathroom has bathtub but sealed and not usable, no water coming out of the faucet waste of space! Dining buffet is not good as far as utensils, glasses, soup spoons, running out and not replaced. short staff, food not replaced right away, people tend to wait. ice cream is \"melt scream\" not ice cream, cones are stale and breads are hard, no jams, jellies, cream cheese around, you have to ask for everything. The resort has not many activities, no floating bar in the pool, the jacuzzi is cold, spa jacuzzi is also cold no snack back around, food not 24 hours open. main entrance door is always yucky with lots of fingerprints all day every day. The whole place is not enticing, needs a lot of attention on the facility, staff, and resort activities, etc.

Great resort, extremely friendly staff! Shout out Eddy from Bar Two! Pool and beach area are very nice. Room was excellent with always stocked fridge by the staff. Some of the food was a miss but we loved the brick oven pizza, Italian restaurant, and steak restaurant. Much older crowd which isn’t a bad thing but if you are young expect to be around an older crowd.

Best food we’ve had at an all inclusive. The staff were so friendly and accomodating. Going out of their way to make sure my proposal was perfect. Made us feel very welcomed.

The only two things I didn’t like was people were allowed to smoke wherever they wanted. So for those of us that enjoy clean air, it was unfortunate. For the most part, this wasn’t an issue but there were times where it would be unpleasant.
The other is not being able to book a few of the restaurants. It was a “first come first served” arrangement. Which was fair but in order to put your name down, you had to sit in front of the restaurant and wait (sometimes upwards of 2hrs). If you walked away or went to the bar, you would be skipped.

All in all, it was by far the best all inclusive we have ever been to. Not crowded at all, plenty of seating at the beach and by the pool and staff were incredible. 5/5 experience.

As with any holidays there are always minor inconveniences, however the staff were quick to address our concerns and had the issue corrected immediately. Sandos Cancun was a 10/10 experience in all areas of the stay. Food was top notch, delicious & easy to access; lots of variety in styles of food each night &&& drinks at the bars were DELICIOUS, quick & refreshing! The room was always cleaned throughly, bed made, provided clean towels &&& the cleaning staff was very nice! The entertainment was EXCELLENT! The nightly shows & parties, the POOL PARTIES were our favorite! Everyone who worked at Sandos, from the gentleman who brought around pastries at St. Trop restaurant to the pool party host to DANIEL the best water aerobics instructor, everyone did their job so well & truly made our experience great! Hotel Overall: Very nice small hotel. One elevator was a little fussy so sometimes there was a long wait for that. The staff were all very nice. We didn’t have an issue with any of them. Daniel, Karla, Juan, and Alex were all great out by the pool area. Daniel was our cabana server, and he was amazing. He took good care of us and in return we did the same for him. The only real complaint about the hotel in general would be the temperature. In the restaurants it was hot. Humid and hot to the point we were sweating some of the time. When I come inside from being in the sun all day I’d like it to be cool inside so I can have a break from the heat. It seemed as though it was broken in the whole hotel or just on very low because even the elevators, hallways, etc. were warm. We did enough our stay. It was a nice hotel.
Food: Buffet was hit or miss as they usually are. Some days better than others. The breakfast was probably the best part of it. We were disappointed that they didn’t have a big taco station daily with pico, guacamole, and chips. We would have liked to have had that on a daily basis. The outside #2 building with the menu options for breakfast/lunch was great. The fire baked pizzas were also really good but sometimes lacked topping options like mushrooms or onions. Basic stuff you would think they’d have. Not a big deal though. Their specialty restaurants were great. The best one being the Chinese one. It’s hard to get reservations for it though so book early.

Clean rooms good staff but some of them weren’t as good as I thought they should’ve been maybe it’s because I’m black. This occurred in the buffet when I asked one of the cooks a female for an omelette. She was very rude so I canceled and also some of the waiters I had to ask for Water or coffee instead of them asking me I had to ask them not all just some of them so I left a day early as far as the place itself it was very nice. Good amenities my room lost power for a couple hours. Don’t know why, but it’s a beautiful hotel resort I personally will not return there

Our overall experience at Sandos Cancun was okay. Starting with the positive aspects, the beach was beautiful and had bed gazebos available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. The staff were very friendly, and although the rooms were slightly dated, they were well kept. Housekeeping did a great job keeping the rooms clean, and the resort’s close proximity to the airport was a nice feature.
Cons: The biggest downside was that the food was cold about 50% of the time. The resort next to Sandos blocked the sun around 3:30–4:00 p.m. at both the pools and the beach. On our second day, one of the elevators went out of service for a few days. The power also went out twice, and the resort appeared to have minimal backup generators.

This is the second time we have stayed at Sandos. We were hopeful that this stay would have been better.

The resort is in need of renovations.

Elevators broken!!!

Air conditioners needed to be serviced.

Food was AWFUL AGAIN!!!

Most gym equipment was broken, one treadmill!!!

The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the resort is in a perfect area, only 20 minutes from the airport.

We will NOT BE RETURNING!!!!

it was a great hotel, great food in the buffet ( except for the Mexican night lol - they have a different theme every night ). lots of wind, waves and seaweed at the beach though, made it to hard to snorkel.... wifi is great at the beach, but spotty at one pool, cab rides from the airport are INSANE... they want $ 110.00 american, but i dealt down to $ 70.00... Ubers can Not pick up at the airport but are ok to drop off there - i got one to drop me for aprox $ 18.00 american... no issues with the taxi mafia trying to stop us, FYI book your trip from the airport to the hotel before you arrive or prepair to pay dearly... some people take a bus downtown then Uber from there... nightly shows were ok -the Elvis one was fantastic

Room and hotel were very clean. Staff was amazing. Food just ok in restaurants but buffet was better. They didn’t have much for Mexican food which I would have liked to have the option. We found out a couple days in that you have to request guacamole as it is not a buffet item. There is no pool bar but 1 outside bar and it took awhile for anyone to take our order for drinks. The beach was amazing! They had only 1 working elevator which was inconvenient at times. The one thing I really did not like were the weddings taking place there. There were 2 weddings the weekend we were there and one was on the terrace outside our side of the hotel. It was very loud and we couldn’t go to sleep until they were done with the music. That part was awful when you want quiet and relaxing. I gave it 4 stars because it is a nice hotel but I probably would not stay there again.

Buffet food was very good. Lots of variety. Kept food stocked.
Loved the Japanese restaurant. The Italian restaurant was ok. None of us liked Seasons restaurant.
Hotel is very clean, staff is always seen cleaning. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
There was confusion about our yellow wristband (yellow because we booked through Expedia). Front desk said we could have the upgraded alcohol but had two different bars tell us that we were not allowed this upgrade, but the other two bars were fine when we ordered the upgraded alcohol. Checked with front desk after being denied the upgrade and they said we were supposed to have it. They just need to decide and let everyone know!

Shout out to Carlos at Bar 6, he's the best!

Hotel is nice but there are some deferred maintenance issues and some things are beginning to feel outdated.

They defiantly need more loungers on the beach!

Worst part of stay was they had one small (maybe 7 people at a time) elevator working. We were there for 9 days and 1 elevator never worked. A second elevator went down on day 2 and never got fixed. I don't know how many rooms this hotel has but there are 8 floors of rooms. We were on floor 6 and our friends on floor 7. I feel its unacceptable to have the elevator down for that long.

There was times where they had no food or just one restaurant open. You have a bar open to drink but nothing to eat. We had to leave the property to eat half the time we stayed. Our friends key wouldnt work , so we had to go to front desk 3 times. After a hour someone finally came up to let us in after we missed our tour. Dont get me wrong its a beautiful place. But it was the same thing everyday with the shows and clubs.

4th time visiting and came with very high hopes based on previous wonderful experiences. Staff, food and entertainment continue being outstanding.

Just 1 elevator working out of 3 causing terrible delays. Not visible option to use stairs.
Very disappointing they were charging to reserve the pool beds beside the pool when in the past it was free to use. Now you are required to purchase a 50 dollar bottle of sparkling wine to get one.
Pool was ice cold but that is a minor issue compared to the other ones.

You have everything to keep being a 5 star plus resort, but if these issues are permanent, we will think twice next time and compare other options.
