I went into this stay expecting a high-end resort experience, and that’s not quite what I got. Iberostar Selection Cancún is fine, but it didn’t feel like the premium property it’s marketed as.

The staff was hit or miss. Some members were genuinely helpful and made an effort, while others made me feel like an inconvenience when I asked for anything. That inconsistency was frustrating, especially at a resort positioning itself as upscale.

My biggest takeaway, though, was feeling like I was seen as a dollar sign rather than a guest. There was a constant sense of being upsold and a transactional vibe that took away from the relaxation I came for.

It’s not a bad place, and a few standout staff members deserve credit, but it didn’t live up to the “selection” or high-end label. Three stars feels right adequate, but not the elevated experience I was hoping for.

I would have given 5 stars, but the hotel is very outdated and needs room and pool maintenance ASAP. The rooms were clean, but everything feels old. Even the vanity sink was broken and they held together with glue so it wouldn’t fall apart.

The pools are beautiful and big, BUT the inside surface is extremely damaged. They need to be replastered right away because the rough areas hurt your feet.

The food was delicious I especially loved the taco restaurant near the pool. The pastor trompo was amazing.
The main buffet had plenty of options, and the best part is that everything actually tasted delicious.

Service was great; all the staff were very friendly and nice.I would come back only if upgrades are made to the entire hotel structure. Thank you.

We just returned from our stay, and overall, it was a fantastic all-inclusive experience! From start to finish, the resort exceeded our expectations and made for a truly memorable getaway.
What We Loved:
Exceptional Entertainment: This was the highlight of our trip! The entertainment team put so much energy and creativity into everything they did. Whether it was the daytime activities or the evening shows, we were never bored and always found ourselves thoroughly entertained.
Dining Highlights: The food quality was excellent throughout our stay, and there were plenty of delicious options to choose from.
A Quick Tip for Future Guests:
Plan Your Dining: While the food is wonderful, a few of the restaurants do tend to fill up quickly during peak hours. If there is a specific restaurant you are excited to try, I highly recommend heading there a bit earlier in the evening to ensure you get a table without a long wait. we had an amazing time and would definitely recommend this resort to others looking for a fun and stress-free vacation!

What an amazing resort! It's was bigger than I expected with lots of pools than other resorts I've been on. So there's definitely space anywhere to lounge in the pool . The food was good-solid 8/10, with lots of variety to eat at the buffet. They had a small ice cream van and a burger stand by the pool. Which were great to take a break from swimming and enjoying by the pool. Please, do make reservations for the Hibachi restaurant, which is one of the only restaurant that you will need reservations for. It was so good, with 4 small size course that was surprisingly filling.
Also, the entertainment group were wondering throughout the resort, super helpful in promoting event and sessions they had. We had a painting class recommended to us by a entertainment worker, Jesus, that was super fun to do with my family. The host Alex and Jeff were super nice and fun to have hosting the class with the amazing painters teach us. Jesus was also a champ playing volleyball with my family when it was close to the end of the day and he was definitely tired. Overall a wonderful experience and will definitely come again.

Property was very clean, rooms and room service were top notch. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Plenty of pool space so it wasn't overly crowded. The entertainment activities during the day and the shows every night kept us busy and entertained the entire stay. And lastly, the food was better than any other food I have had at a Cancun resort. I highly recommend Iberostar Selection Cancun and will DEFINITELY be going back!

We had the best vacation of our lives at Iberostar Coral Selection Cancun!

Upgrading to the adults-only section was the best decision we made. The service was outstanding, the staff were incredibly friendly, and everyone greeted us with a smile from morning until night. The food and drinks were amazing, with plenty of variety every day, and we loved all the pool activities and nightly entertainment. The rooms were also cleaned every day and always kept spotless.

A special thank you to Arenza for making the activities so much fun, to Darling at the buffet for always taking care of us and making sure we enjoyed our meals, and to Maria at reception for explaining everything so clearly upon our arrival and making us feel welcome from the start.

Overall, this is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Everything was perfect, and we can’t wait to come back!

The overall food (buffet/specialty dining/ room service) was superb. Possibly our best ever in resort dining. Service was very friendly and prompt. Our room was excellent with a perfect view from balcony. The outdoor amenities and pool were great- with easy access to chairs, affordable loungers and beach access. The all-inclusive aspect was fabulous. Top shelf drinks, FABULOUS food!
My only knock was on the evening offerings. They have a huge, beautiful theater- but the performances were underwhelming and poorly attended. The “night club” was a small “sports bar” with a D.J. Though I wished for more adult action (live music/dancing)- for families this would be best spot ever. My rating: 4.8/5.0

I rarely write reviews, but this hotel truly deserves recognition. From the moment we arrived until our departure, the Iberostar team treated us exceptionally well. The service, food, and hospitality were all top-notch. The resort created a warm and inviting atmosphere, making us feel like we were at home. The rooms were spotless, modern, and well-maintained. The buffet offered a wide variety of delicious food options. The location of the resort also mattered. We were not far from the airport.

My son and I just returned from a 5 night stay and we really enjoyed the resort. It was very clean, the pool was cool, but not too cold, and the beach was very clean. Everyone there was very friendly and we received great service in every area. The food was ok, not fantastic but also not terrible. The buffet features very fresh fruit and fruit juices, which I loved, and lots of different options for all meals but there wasn't much variation. Seemed to be the same stuff every day. The steak house was very good, and so was the hibachi restaurant. I was disappointed in the beach restaurant, we ordered the molcajete guacamole and it was clear it was not fresh guac, definitely not made in the molcajete, tasted like Walmart brand. Overall, our room was great, the facility is great, food ok....I would go back and would eat in the restaurants more than the buffet.

If you’re there for a special event, be sure to state it upon checking-in. They upgraded everyone’s room but ours and the bride and groom…go figure.🙄

They’re HEAVY on trying to get you to commit to a Timeshare presentation upon arrival and will call and knock on your door the next morning at 7:45am to remind you. It almost became harassment. Be leery and only sign up if you’re okay with that or really interested in hearing the presentation. I was told the massage received for attending was GREAT!

If you have any allergies be EXTRA cautious and ask additional times to ensure you don’t ingest it. We did all that, sent emails, texts spoke to the manager and wait staff and they still gave us an item with the allergen and tried to gaslight us saying they didn’t. UGH! The next 3 days were awful trying to come back from that.

If you’re planning a wedding BEWARE!! It says inclusive but they will nickel and dime you for another $7-8k for things that should be included when it says all inclusive. By then you’re stuck and have no choice. Check it out before and REQUIRE them to give you a layout of the day, vendor lists with fees and what’s NOT included. I was shocked they expected the wedding to be performed with no speakers?? Uh…WHAT?! Yep, an additional $750. WILD!

And not everyone is fluent in English.

The resort is GORGEOUS! The food was good as well! But if you have anything that requires some additional foresight, get ready to be on them because they will slack.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff were very friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with anything we needed. The service was excellent throughout our stay. I also loved the location, being right on the beach made the experience even more relaxing and enjoyable. The food was good with plenty of options to choose from. The only downside for me was the beds, which could have been more comfortable. But overall, everything else was great and we still had an amazing experience. Would definitely recommend.

There are only 3 places to smoke. Room service is not 24/7 it’s 11 am - 11pm. They don’t have a selection of beer, only Tecate. The swim out room we had during the day was occupied by at least 20 seagulls and up to 200 depending on the day, at least at night there was none. The food was good but no nighttime activities, once the shows that they put on is over the resort is dead. Need more activities at night possibly a club with dancing because they highly promoted Club Bongo but entry cost was $80 per person…no way!

Everything was very well kept.. I will say though that the restroom could use some maintenance, the doors to the balcony were somewhat hard to open not as smooth and the floors felt a little sticky but could have been because of the humidity, the door handle to the room was loose but other than that it was great. My only problem is that the sushi bar always had their sushi/sashimi displayed on a platter instead of ice which is the right way to display and serve sushi at a buffet. As a result it wasn’t fresh and usually warm by the end of the buffet time. I’m sure this is a recipe for someone to get sick. Apart from this everything else at this resort is amazing, I would still book again but never through Expedia as it’s impossible to change anything and Expedia is not at all accommodating about changes once you book. Will always book through the resort from now on, lesson learned.

Room was clean, we upgraded to an ocean view and it wasn’t great. The staff was helpfully but they got upset I wouldn’t commit to a 90 min presentation during breakfast. The outdoor pools were great. The beach was very clean, they cleaned the seaweeds every morning, and cleaned off any/all trash. I’d give the food a 3/5 from the restaurants outside to the steakhouse inside. Overall 4/5 experience.

We enjoyed every minute. Only issues (opinion) were lack of waterside bar service. And the shows were at 9:30 pm. It was hard to keep kids awake after a full day of sun/ water. All minor. Food was excellent throughout the hotel . Definitely worth trying..

I had an overall good stay. Wasn’t too crowded in mid April. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. I understand the concierge is just doing their job during check in, but it felt too pushy for me and lengthy. The buffet had a great selection and most options were tasty. The property’s age does show in some areas of the rooms. The main pool could’ve been a bit warmer, and there were some parts of the flooring that were rough. The seaweed was cleaned up every morning on the beach which was nice and made swimming more enjoyable. The entertainment is mostly aimed for a children’s audience. Definitely a more family-friendly, relaxed vibe resort.

The resort itself is absolutely stunning. The beachfront views are breathtaking, the pools are pristine, and everything is beautifully maintained. Whether you want to relax in a quiet spot or enjoy a more lively atmosphere, there’s something for everyone.

The food was a huge highlight. With multiple restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, every meal felt like a new experience. The quality, flavor, and presentation were consistently impressive—and yes, the drinks were just as good.

What really stood out was the attention to detail. From the cleanliness of the rooms to the entertainment and activities throughout the day, everything was thoughtfully done. It never felt overcrowded, and there was always something fun going on if you wanted to join in.

If you’re looking for a luxury all-inclusive experience in Cancún, this is it. I’d go back in a heartbeat—easily a 5-star stay.

Our stay in the hotel was very nice and we enjoyed our holiday. The food was really excellent, with lots of variety and exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed our time in the pool and participated some of the activities. The staff were friendly and professional.
Some of the guests were leaving garbage both around and even in the pool, which made it unpleasant. After the messy guests left the facilities were clean and nice and we had no issues with the facilities.
All in all we had a very good experience.

Booking the restaurants is such a complicated thing to do. My wife and I waited at the stake house in a line for 35 minutes. The host would not grant us entrance to the restaurant although we had booked at 7:00 pm. They make it complicated to go to the restaurants so, guests just keep on going to the buffet. We’ll never go back to this hotel.

There was always someone cleaning!! The cleanliness was impeccable. The food was fantastic however I would steer clear from the shrimp at the appetizer buffet at the steakhouse restaurant. The services were great. If you’re wanting to swim in the ocean, pick a hotel on the lagoon side unless you're a strong swimmer. The waves here are not very friendly. I would highly recommend booking your excursions online and not with anyone in person bc it is way more expensive! They always had activities going on in the resort everyday and they have a Star Camp for kids which looked like a lot of fun. The app was convenient for ordering room service (which is all free!!) and seeing what was on the schedule for each day. I wish the app allowed you to get on the waitlist for restaurants that were FCFS. I wish they had the mango cart every day😭 it was sooo good!! Overall would highly recommend this resort!

Our group loved our stay. All the staff we encountered were friendly and attentive. The food including a couple of the à la carte restaurants, was tasty. The common areas were always kept clean. Our room was clean and comfortable, this was the only area of the hotel that felt a bit dated. The location is great, close to the airport and a quick bus or taxi ride away from the central tourist area. Overall, a great time and would recommend.

The location is impressive, with its pyramid shaped building, its cool to just be there.

The check-in process was lengthy, a bad idea when you have a hungry and tired family.

The single large pool was fine but I would have liked to have bathrooms near the pool and beach so you don't have to go all the way to the lobby or buffet (if its open) every time you need to pee or more.

The rooms were good and the beds were comfortable but the air conditioning is a little loud and the bathroom door doesn't close fully, a privacy problem and the water from the shower comes out and gets everything wet.

The activities where fun and the staff were great, friendly and very helpful. I definitely recommend it and the price was good for the quality.

Howeverm as with many other locations, the executive staff will invite you to a supposedly 90 minute sales presentation and offer you something nice, like a couple of massages. This generates a bad experience in my opinion. The presentation ends up being closer to 3 hours (it includes breakfast, but still) and at the end they push you to chose and buy whatever they are selling there and then. This creates pressure and stress, and feels scammy. I really hate this and wish they would find a better way to sell these things.

Had the absolute best trip to this resort! Food at all the restaurants was amazing; didn’t have a bad meal all week. We wished some of the restaurants were open for lunch so we could eat there even more, but snack bars were amazing. Pools were great; lots of little areas to hang out and the bar staff there were awesome, along with all the staff around the resort. Stayed with my partner in the hotel; amazing view from our balcony and room was great. Didn’t make it to all of the evening shows, but the ones we did were exceptional and we absolutely loved the rock show. Location is also great as you’re very close to the airport, as well as the attractions in the hotel zone. Would highly recommend staying here!

I had a ball as a solo traveler! The resort is perfect for families, I would book again but maybe at an all adult resort with Iberostar!! Other than that great service, views, & lots to do!! I enjoyed the food as well!

I became sick after eating at the buffet on Tuesday and did not recover - it’s now Friday and I am home. I am not sure what I ate that caused this but it’s definitely stomach related.

Outdated hotel, poor customer service, cracked pool floor that can cut your feet. Food is bland and repetitive. Even Mexican food was bland and repetitive. They promote a $400 credit but you can use it a $25 credit per one item that must cost $100. Complete ripoff. It’s a 1 star resort on all fronts. Truly beyond disappointed. Never will return to this brand. Customer service is not helpful and lie to customer. No effort to make customers happy. Also racially discriminatory. Do not waste your time.

This is the cleanest resorts we have ever stayed at in Mexico! Staff does an amazing job in keeping all the pools VERY clean & property tidy. Our room was cleaned quickly every day as soon as we left & all requests were quickly addressed.
We had a villa w. garden view. The semi private pool for villa guests are an awesome touch. There are 3, & many hammocks to enjoy.
I guess the only downside I would say is that all my kids had an awesome time. The kids star camp looked amazing, although my kids weren’t particularly interested in going since my daughter’s a bit older. They section it out for kids 4–7 and then 8–12 & they invited my 13 y/o to participate if she wanted. They offer many kids activities via star camp.
Great place for kids particularly through ~ 10 as they have a nice pirate themed kids pool play area with slides perfect for younger kids. That pool is only ~ 1.5’ deep (?) so very safe / easy for kids to navigate.
The food was relative good. I read many reviews before saw some complaints about the food, but as with all resorts, they have to serve masses of people so you’re not getting star quality typically. I think some people need an expectation reset for resort food. Only ick experience was at the hibachi- everything cooked to death. We went ~5:45 & almost no wait. The pool smashburger bar was super good! Buffet was good IMO - many options. Drinks were great & staff very very nice.

We had a great stay! Cleanliness was great and the staff were caring and amazing. I must mention though 3 out of 6 of us had severe GI issues while there and they were sick for a solid 24 hours. The buffet options weren’t the best and the refrigeration of the burger meat at the station by the pool was questionable. The app was broken so we didn’t know what activities were happening and when. We wanted to play pool and ping pong but there wasn’t chauk for the sticks or rackets/balls available. In the evenings, there wasn’t much happening for entertainment until the show started. Still enjoyed my stay and the pool was great during the day!

Staff and hotel were brilliant, some days some of the drinks werent refilled in mini bar. Wasn't a fan of the check in process placing us in front of a time share offer as soon as we arrived and being approached by the time share team most mornings. Drinks felt watered down also. Other than that really enjoyed our stay.

We had an amazing experience at Iberostar Selection Cancun from the moment we arrived until our departure. The entire stay exceeded our expectations!

Every member of the hotel staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, always making sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. A special thank you to Zerafin from Customer Service for the excellent assistance, Fredy the master bartender for the great drinks and friendly service, and Chef Luis along with his team for preparing such outstanding meals.

The food was absolutely delicious throughout our stay and truly made the experience even more memorable. The level of hospitality and attention to detail from everyone at the resort was exceptional.

We highly recommend Iberostar Selection Cancun and look forward to returning in the future!

We went there with our whole family, including adults and children. For an additional fee they were able to give us a qualified nanny for our youngest child. It was absolutely the best thing ever! Activities, galore! The food was out of sight! And the hospitality absolutely unbeatable. The rooms were very nice. Pools were great, beach access was perfect And the bars were fantastic! Would 100% go back.
