Brilliant hotel and literally round the corner from Paddington station and a 5 minute stroll to Kensington gardens. The spa is small but cute and you get it to yourself for 30 minutes. There is only a plunge hot tub and steam, but it is lovely!

The rooms were clean but tiny. The windows are old and wont keep out the noise of the street nor the cold air. The breakfast is the bare minimum and the coffee is undrinkable.
But it is very centrally located with 5min walk from Paddington and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

I stayed here for one night during a long layover. The hotel is in a very expensive area, so the pricing is understandable, though it is on the pricey side for the size of the room. The room itself was quite small.

That said, the location is excellent. It is walkable to Paddington Station and surrounded by many restaurants, which made getting around very easy and convenient.

This hotel is perfect for a one-night stay or short stopover, especially if you need quick access to the train station. I likely would not stay for an extended period due to the limited space, but it served its purpose well for a brief stay.

poor entrance staff struggled to understand us !!!! whole place needs to be refurbished . especially the dining area a lot of chipped wood broken seats . Our bathrooms in room had blown wood and awful grout generally unkept .
Then bar didn’t open until 6pm in evening so disappointing.

Couples one night stay

The hotel has potential. The entrance could be cleaned up and have fresh flowers or at least nice shrubs and a celan carpet. The reception is small and feels over crowded when checking in although reception staff are friendly especially Lukas.The room is small with a very squeaky bed encased in a timber frame that is designed to fold away. The matress was so uncomfortable we did not sleep well at all. The pillows were not comfortable so lucky we brought our own. Room 009 has a door to the outside that does not open all the way out but staff member was right outside on their phone so we pulled the curtains for privacy. The shower was good. Dinner was okay. Starters was good. Our main was not as good however when we explained to the manager Vikas he brought a dish which was fantastic and exactly what we wanted so it made such a difference and was much appreciated. Good location and walking distance from Paddington station.

Had a nice stay,room was comfortable and clean . Staff were welcoming and polite. Great location for Paddington rail services and for exploring the likes of Hyde Park. There was a spa but we didnt use . Only slight disappointment was breakfast ,the tea was tepid at best ,the sausages were not great quality and they were nearly cold. However a good choice for breakfast options and i would definitely stay here again.

Three star hotel not a five star at all. Tiny rooms, clean-ish but apart from a bottle of water and a biscuit (which I could get with a premier plus premier inn) it was no different, if not worse than a premier inn. One lift, took forever. Staff very unhelpful, air conditioning didn't work very well, and the breakfast was in no way five star at all - fruit that looked dehydrated, 4 cereals and the cheapest white and brown bread.

I dont usually post bad feedback but this stay was a bit of a mess. When checking in I was told it was full and asked if I could share a room with a member of my team - not a good start. I was then put in a room in the basement which was by no means a Deluxe room that I booked.

I appreciate issued happen and the team were trying to give me the best option but I was disappointed at this stay.

In positive news, the Indian food smelled incredible. I did not eat there but judging by the queue I would imagine the food was very good!

Beware if you leave your luggage with the front desk!!!
I had an early flight and arrived at the hotel around 8am. Room wasn't ready ao hotel front desk offered to keep our luggage for a few hours while we explored the city awaiting our room to be clean. We accepted the offer and left a small suitcase as well as a backpack. I only stayed one overnight so I didn't realize until after I was back home that my bluetooth ear buds are missing from my backpack! I'm now back in the US with no recourse or way to rectify the stolen property.
I guess next time I will think twice about leaving my luggage with hotel front desks.

Recommend for solo travelers who would like a convenient location to Paddington (access to Heathrow via express).

The hotel is in a nice area, it’s your run of the mill 3 star hotel feeling. Room was a shoebox (okay for 1 person but I would never stay there with 2 people), bed was comfortable, bathroom very clean and nice with excellent water pressure.

Restaurant was mediocre.

The cleaning staff used the elevator A LOT, which meant I often took the stairs - they should really prioritize guests here. Reception staff was good and bad, one evening a guy working there didn’t even look up at me, was focused on a screen, laughing and clearly just wanted me to leave him alone.

Sofie, who works at reception, is exceptional. Well poised, polite, professional, eloquent- she has a wonderful career in hospitality ahead of her if she wants it! She belongs at the Ritz!! Sofie, if you see this - start applying to every 5-star hotel in London, that’s where you belong and they would be lucky to have you! You’re fantastic.

Lovely little single room with generous amenities, working AC which kept the room at comfortable temperature, friendly staff, good breakfast options. A very good deal for price. A quick stroll from Paddington station - felt very safe even at night. I had to check out a day early due to a schedule change and they were concerned they had done something wrong or I was unhappy with anything. The only thing I was unhappy with is not getting to try their little hot tub spa. Maybe next time!

Good location, but the first room they showed me had a annoying buzzing sound from the ventilation, the second room they showed me was in the basement and it had a musty, moldy smell, and the third room. They showed me with large but filled with temporary furniture and mostly empty. There was a problem with the thermostat such that the room cooked up to 28° C and I have to go to the registration desk to get that fixed at 1 AM so my sleep was rather disturbed. Breakfast was average. I could’ve gotten better outside the hotel. The staff person I dealt with tried to be helpful, but seem to be restricted in what he could do. I wanted to pay cash for half of my hotel bill and credit card for the other part, but he was not able to figure out how to do that.

Everything was good from a hotel point of view, what let the stay down was very poor communication between reception staff and restaurant manager or restaurant staff, we were told breakfast was served on a Monday until 10:30am upon check in, getting into breakfast at 10:05am we were then told breakfast was closed, however reception staff thought it was 10:30. We were then told to grab a plate and take what’s left, no tea or coffee was available. After a late night we were looking forward to breakfast but unfortunately it was a complete let down. There clearly need to be better communication between reception staff and restaurant staff.

The rooms absolutely stink of the restaurant by the time you go to bed. Thick smell of garlic, cooked onions, spices. Restaurant smelt nice at 5pm, not at 1am! Stay was ok but would probably look elsewhere

My reservation was cancelled on the day of arrival.
I was rebooked into a 'sister' hotel about 15 minutes away.
After a long day of travelling this was very unwelcome.
Looking at other reviews, it seems that this was not an isolated experience.
Staff could have made the disruption easier to cope with by preparing directions to reach the new hotel or by providing a taxi. instead they were unapologetic and disinterested.

Hotel cancelled our room literally half an hour before we got to London. They made accommodations at their sister hotel all the way across town, but we needed to be close to Paddington because 1) we really enjoy that area and 2) we had to catch a plane the next day and needed easy access to the airport. I had to quickly book another hotel next to Paddington station which was much more expensive since it was for the same day. Hotel Montcalm Chilworth acted like it had done us a favor —- maybe they did!! I’ll never know because I will never book a room there again.

I had asked for a room on a high floor weeks in advance but instead was given one in the basement. Room was tiny and you could hear every movement from the bar and reception above. This hotel is more like the super budget Point A hotels or similar in the area.

This stay has damaged the Montcalm brand for me. I was asked if I had a good stay upon check out and after politely explaining why I hadn’t I received nothing more than an insincere apology and fake smile.

It’s not terrible hotel and I’m sure there are better rooms but I’ll not be using Montcalm again

We arrived to Chilworth early and had no issue checking in early. Unfortunately, our door lock was broken and it took about 30 minutes for the whole system to be replaced, which cut into our single day in London. Upon looking at the room drink offerings, we found that one of the hot chocolate packets was open and left in the display. Additionally the body wash in the shower was empty. The room was very tight, just enough room for the bed. The steps down into the room were an unexpected obstacle for luggage and there was no guide on how to use the light switches, which required a key card to operate. The shower and bathroom were the highlight of the stay.

We had a lovely stay, our room wasn't big, but roomy enough to move around, we had a view of some rooftops lower down but to be honest it didn't matter as we were out all day each day, there was a Fridge which was great with complimentary drinks but there was no information in our room which told us that! we did have a can of Coke one night and I mentioned this when we checked out to pay for it and the Guy in reception said it was complimentary, we also had a Basket of fruit in the room which was a lovely touch,
Breakfast was basic cooked English with a choice of Continental meats, cheeses, crossiants, pastries and fresh & dried fruit and Yogurts, so something for everyone's taste!
The Staff were lovely and very approachable.

Staff were incredibly accommodating as I was a little nervous travelling alone and they managed to get me access to my room earlier. Jeana at reception really looked after me, Peter was very helpful in sorting my phone charging issues and Taj kindly helped with cases. Would definitely stay again.
