Awesome location near Paddington station. Certainly not a big or boutique style, but definitely a good place for a few nights.
Sadly, elevator stopped working during check out and narrow staircases were a challenge for five flights. However, staff were great and assisted with luggage.

The location is great. Right in the middle of London and within walking distance of a lot of fun touristy stuff. But the hotel itself id ugly and old. The microwave has RUST inside so you can’t even heat anything up. The walls are falling apart. The floors are creaking. It’s ugly and unhygienic. I’d stay there again only for the location but that’s nearly it.

This hotel was perfect for my trip to London. I thought the hotel was nicer from the photos than it turned out to be. But the bed was comfortable & I slept great and I was mainly on there to sleep, shower & clean up.

However, I am glad I had my shower shoes bc the floor was really dirty. The toilet deserves special mention. The toilet is square but had a rounded seat that extends beyond the porcelain. This has the effect that when sitting on the toilet my junk has no where to rest except the porcelain. Not ideal. So following each toilet visit, a shower was also necessary from touching the toilet. Fortunately the shower was good. I took photos to add to the review but the app doesn't support uploading despite a section to do just that.

Manage your expectations and plan accordingly and this place will serve your goal.

I would stay here again for it's proximity to Paddington station & Hyde Park, both make it easy to navigate on foot or tube.

The hotel doesn’t look like anything from the pics, the carpet it’s old and stained. The hairdryer almost blew up in my hands and started smoking.. the furnitures were cracked all over and the bathroom didn’t have hair conditioner. The staff it’s kind and trying to accommodate the guests. If the owner took care of the hotels I am sure thf place would be much better. The location it’s super convenient. Thr hotels conditions not really.

Very good for overnight stay

Clean and well presented small room with clean beddings and clean towels. Bathroom no lock.
The room is too hot even with the fan up on the wall.

The staff was super friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a great location across from Paddington Station. Unfortunately, the pictures of the rooms are out of date and misleading. The beds are very small and uncomfortable (a \"twin\" is really the size of a cot). Many parts of the room were broken, worn, or dirty/dusty. I asked the front desk attendant for a cleaner room and they complied. If this place were updated and maintained better, I'd stay again. It has a lot of potential to be great. Otherwise I'll pass.

Dirty, run down and lots of hidden charges.

Possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was dirty (hairs in the bed, stains on the walls and carpets), the curtains were hanging off, the windows were metal framed and painted shut, the TV did not work (although was subsequently fixed), the lift didnt work properly, it wasn't possible to sit on the toilet unless it was sideways as the sink was in the way. We were charged £20 for leaving 2 small backpacks in a basement store room (£10 per day). We were told at check in that we would be charged £10 ifbwe lost our key card. The whole of the outside of the hotel was covered in plastic sheeting but there didnt seem to be a reason for this.

Excellent economy accommodation

The reception was extremely helpful and allowed very early entry to the room for a small fee and then allowed bag storage after we checked out for a small fee. It’s ideally located near main rail and bus connections and excellent food options nearby. Sure it’s budget accommodation but perfect for what we wanted. 24 hour reception staff are very helpful…

Very dated, very basic

This place is run down. Irregular stains, wear, peeling paint, molding shower area, falling apart furniture, etc. Bed is hard. You can hear the trains ( underground subway) all day and night up to 1230 am- ish. TV has about 5 channels: 3 crime and 1 craft and 1 very old movie channels which FREQUENTLY got scrambled and cut off. Only soap and shampoo provided, no tissue paper or lotion, etc. Only bath towels provided and no hand or wash towels. Reception desk people were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was sporadic and unreliable. I’m not sure if they only come to clean every other day or what. The best part was the tea kettle and free tea and coffee, however, once you consume them, I got no refills. The place was old and outdated but it was very convenient as it was literally across the street from Paddington station, about a minute walk.

The hotel is in a fantastic location: close to Paddington station, lots of bars and restaurants around the area. But, they need to update this hotel desperately. It’s outdated, filthy, wallpaper peeling off, TVs don’t work, just incredibly grubby. You’re paying for the location and not a nice nights sleep.

Worst hotel I’ve ever slept at

Worst hotel I’ve ever slept in. The rooms are not properly cleaned, the bed is a metalframe with the hardest mattress and the thinnest pillow ever known to man. There are absolutely no sound isolation between the walls, could hear the other residents pee. The staff is super unwelcomming. Don’t go live here if you appriciate your life!:):):

The room was walk-in closet sized and the 2 beds were so small that I almost fell out when turning over. The bed was old school and squeaky. There was no room to put your luggage and the isle between the beds was not wide enough to fit your luggage to place under the bed. The TV looked like an old 27 inch computer monitor and we never turned it on. The water stopped running 3 times while in the shower... the staff was friendly enough and the room was cleaned every day but wouldn’t stay here again

This hotel is clean. It is within walking distance to Paddington station and nearby stores & dining options. The building is in bad condition. Floors slant, corridor carpet is dirty, cannot fit more than 1 person in \"lobby\" to check in. No restaurant or place to meet, thin only body and floor towel, no hand towels unless asked for. 3 couples were all given twin beds. Hit arm on dresser every time I turned to get up out of bed, it was that small. Two singles given double beds but bed sagged. Price is high for area and does not include breakfast as others in area. Disappointed.

Pretty run down hotel which doesn’t look like it has been maintained. Single pane windows means you wake up early as soon as the traffic starts. Bars made daily and fresh towels offered by room looks like it’s not cleaned. Definitely not worth what you pay for.

Requesting improved Wi-Fi environment

I can tolerate the complaints that are common in cheap London hotels, such as the hotel being old and small. However, the poor Wi-Fi environment at this hotel was unbearable. I couldn't connect to the Internet. Even if I did connect, it would cut out immediately. I couldn't work like this. I'll never use it again on a business trip.

Don’t book it!

Let’s start this review with the one positive, the location is fantastic no complaints there. However, just don’t book this hotel for your own safety and comfort. Firstly, the bedroom doors don’t lock, the hotel is super outdated and dirty. Bedding is not clean, full of hair, brown marks and other unknown substances. The rooms are super outdated and dirty. The shower head and controls fell off and the bathroom is full of black mould.

Upon our stay London experience light rainfall, and our room was completely flooded, as the roof was leaking all over our bed.

Once we were moved to a new room we were left shocked at the condition of the room, to find bags of rubbish left in the room, more hair and hat looked like blood on the bedsheets.

The staff are anything but polite and friendly, rather the people who work there would rather sit and watch inappropriate social media content that give you a warm welcome. Or help with any of our problems.

This hotel is in a fabulous location and is well priced, but after what we went through I would say the price is far too high.

If you want a clean and safe hotel with bedbug free beds, don’t come here! Rather look for another place.

The elevator was out of service and we had to navigate through 5 floors with luggage up and down convoluted stairways. The absolute worst part was the fact that the temperature in the entire building was borderline heat exhaustion levels, regardless of the floor.

The room was clean and had everything I needed, It was small though.building was too old. I was in an extension building and needed to go to reception everytime I wanted to go in, not a big problem anyway.
The underground is just below the bulding and you can hear the train moving, but it was not a big problem for me.

The elevator wasn't working when we checked out and the building itself is a bit old and rundown. The room wasn't terrible. Small and cheaper than most other accommodations I could fine. Super close to Paddington station, easy to get around. I saw bad reviews about bed bugs but inspected my beds thoroughly and dodnt see anything. Some stains in the fabric which doesnt bother me to be honest. The receptionist was kind and helpful.

Bugs crawling in the floor as soon as we walked into our room as well as on the walls. Immediately informed the desk that we would not be staying there due to the fact and they refused to refund us our money only offered us another room.

Needs upgrading, plaster holes in wall, cracked tiles in bathroom, baseboards weathered and chipped. Damaged trash can.
Needs some TLC.

The property is tired, but the locations is excellent. Paddington is easy to walk around, safe, and not too noisy at night.

The bathrooms in particular vary widely (we had 3 rooms) in condition and layout. I could barely squeeE my knees between stool and shower door, while another room was nicely laid out.

Staff is polite, though several are busy smoking and guests seem to be an inconvenience.

The price is telling - an excellent location at a surprisingly reasonable price means something has to give.

This property should be rated-1 and 1 start. This is the second time that Expedia provides information about a hotel that’s not accurate. All reviews state that there are bed bugs, and other bugs in the rooms. The photos are also deceiving. And they charge $5 pounds per piece of luggage if you need to store it.

The place was falling apart with multiple broken shelves, light fixtures that weren't attached leaving a flacid exposed bulbs and the towel railing was detached which the mirror conveniently slammed into because of terrible placement. The best service you'd get was a grunt on your way out and walls were so thin I heard my neighbour snoring all night. Don't recommend.

Our stay at the Ascot

As much as we enjoyed our stay and the staff are really lovely our room is in need of desperate repair the bathroom especially all towel racks hanging off the wall floor tiles moving hole in sink at side of tap and the shower took ages to drain which also accounts for the smell in there. And in the room sockets are loose.Gave us fresh towels daily and emptied our bins.However the hotel is very central with Paddington station a few minutes away so tube easily accessible plenty of shops and restaurants and Kensington park is about 15 minutes walk away. So overall a good stay but hotel needs some tlc

Fine hotel but some down sides

Hotel was fine. Not comfortable but £60 per night it was fine.

I slept in a sleeping bag over the bed sheets as they were dirty and I felt no confidence if I said anything they would be changed.

Room was safe but Corridors felt a little unsafe at times but the hotel was fine good central location.
