Me and my husband came for a 1 night stay, originally we had a smaller room. The hotel upgraded us on them! The staff were kind and helpful. The hotel was definitely well maintained and worth the stay for Mother’s Day 😇!

Our room was a suite on the 5th floor. Those rooms have very high ceilings, so drapes opened and closed with an electric switch. In the first room #501, the drapes wouldn't close all the way - approx. two feet short. Since the room faced east, this was a problem for getting sleep. The front-desk rep. willingly moved us to another room, #503. Those drapes nearly closed, but left a crack approx. six inches wide. Sure enough, we had sunlight pouring into our room early in the morning. The sheer drapes in #503 were torn at the bottom. The room itself was spotless. The beds were comfortable. The TV worked well and had a lot of selections. The wi-fi connection was strong, but reaction time was slow, like dial-up. Type, wait a few seconds. Type, wait. Etc. Not my laptop's fault!

There was a large area with tables for breakfast. The music on the entire first floor was loud enough to be annoying and interfere with conversation. Rascal Flatts "All Night Long" loud at 8 AM? There were many breakfast offerings. At approx. 8 AM, eggs were almost out, but plenty of sausage patties and potatoes. Fresh fruit. Etc. Quinoa also was offered with fixings. The brown sugar was hard and clearly had been in the container for a very long time. This is a detail, but it shows the staff wasn't checking. Finally, dishes piled up and up - no staff in sight.

Finally, our top floor room had a view of a brick wall on the roof.

I hope for attention to details for premium price.

The girl at the front desk was not the most helpful or pleasant. We booked 2 rooms with Expedia and only had one room in the computer. Instead of trying to help us understand what happened and resolve the problem she just simply made us purchase another room and be off. I have to say it is a very clean hotel and the rooms are beautiful. So the front desk was the only bad part. She needed to be a lot more friendly and more helpful with the situation. Because of this misunderstanding with the rooms I don’t think I will go back but you never know.

Check-in was quick and easy. The desk staff were very nice and helpful. The property is awesome (in the old post office/customs house). The room was very spacious. We travelled with a dog. The hotel is dog friendly, but know that green space is a few blocks away in different directions. If your dog is jumpy around cars, keep that in mind.

The hotel room itself was very nice and clean. The tall ceilings and huge windows make the space feel airy. We had a room on the 5th floor - the view was unfortunately obstructed by a stone wall but not a big deal. Breakfast was good, would’ve been amazing if they had potatoes or hash browns.The hotel has valet parking only, which costs $39. The worker at the front desk said they could get this discounted to $34, however, I was charged the full amount. They were also wearing a Lakers shirt, which I found a bit strange and unprofessional. All in all we enjoyed our stay. Expensive but that’s kind of a given in DT St Paul.

This was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. The remodeled 1934 art-deco former post office and custom house is beautifully appointed, in keeping the style. The 13 foot windows are gorgeous. The rooms also beautiful and incredibly clean. I wish every hotel I stayed at was as nice as this. And it's relatively inexpensive!

I reserved a room eight months in advance, but when my family arrived at the property they did not have the room type we booked. There were 4 of us, I booked a room with 2 queen beds and they gave us one king bed and a pull out couch. The front desk mildly apologized, but that was it. We had an uncomfortable stay.

Overall this is a very nice hotel. Good stuff first: there is a great fitness room, the guest rooms were very clean and huge, the overnight staff was exceptional, and the bartender was very good. The lobby and breakfast area is large and comfortable. Not so good stuff is that there is only valet parking at the hotel which is rather pricey. We had to park across the street in a tiny lot which was reasonably priced but very inconvenient. There was a constant group of homeless people camped right outside the hotel where the only metered parking is. Several areas of the hotel wreaked of marijuana. We reserved several rooms and so did family members for a wedding and twice we were given the wrong room and even given a room already occupied by other people. The hotel management did acknowledge the mistake and credited our room.

We were staying as part of a wedding group. One of the guests walked in on people in his room - in a compromised position! The front desk staff didn’t seem concerned & said they checked in with id. ?? That wasn’t my personal experience but it did remain on my mind wondering if someone would accidentally walk into our room.

I ordered a hamburger & it was terrible

The restaurant bartender is also the front desk person some of the time - running back & forth

I don’t recommend staying here.

I was hoping and needing a hot tub but they don't have one. They have 1 pool work a depth of 3.5 feet. The bed was not comfortable and I had tricks sleeping. My view was horrible. The staff was great. Breakfast was ok but not great

We had a great experience at Hyatt Downtown St. Paul. All the staff we interacted with were very nice, welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and beautiful with the tall ceiling and drapes that open with the push of a button. Loved having two sinks in the bathroom. It was overall, a very quiet, peaceful stay, no thin walls where you can hear your neighbors having conversations… a huge plus! Breakfast was good and a nice variety. The only inconvenience was not having a microwave in the room but, they have one in the breakfast area we used. Parking was a little inconvenient as well, we opted out of paying $39/day for valet but, minimal street parking and other ramps are available. We found a garage for $4 on the weekends, which was very affordable and less than a block from the hotel entrance.

What my husband and I enjoyed most about this hotel is the decor and friendly staff. Everything else was average. Improvement would be room service and daily housekeeping. Also, this building is kinda cool but the view from the 5th floor was blocked by a brick wall. The room was presented as a high floor but it felt like we were in a basement.

Our room was great, beds comfortable. Would have liked a few more amenities (ex body lotion) provided. Check in experience was ok (not great). The women at the check in desk seemed very overwhelmed with the small line up of guests checking in (4 people). She did not want to answer our questions (impatient). She was rude to the elderly gentleman checking in in front of me, made an unnecessary comment ‘there must be a good deal on room rates today’ and was unable to answer my questions regarding parking. Provided breakfast was average.

Room was very spacious. Excellent with regards to being clean. Only concern here was that even though they said they would replenish towels, etc every two days, that wasn't done. I had to ask each time for things such as toilet paper or towels and the garbage to be emptied. Front Desk didn't appear knowledgeable to care much.

Room was only cleaned once, and towels at that time were not restocked. I called the night of the cleaning as my white bathrobe I had brought from home was missing - it must had been picked up with the dirty towels - it was never returned. I didn't realize that the bar doesn't open until 5:30 and the menu served there was very limited. Drapes had two handprints on them that looked like they came from a horror movie. The breakfast was pretty good and staff I actually interacted with were friendly.

The room was in good condition, however there was debris on the floor as though it had not been vacuumed and tissues on the floor by the window. Other than that, the room was clean. No microwave. The couch area was very far away from the where the tv was over by the beds, which was unfortunate. We spent a little more time in the room due to weather than we would have normally, so these things stuck out.we originally reserved one night but then booked another night online so we could come up early due to expected weather. The morning staff at the desk the morning after check in, a woman, was not overly friendly and barely spoke with me when I approached about combining my two nights so we could stay in the same room. It seemed a bit ridiculous that I had to check in and check

The shower in our bathroom was leaking and flooding the floor. The second room had a really strong smell. Throughout our stay, there was only 1 employee working in the evening. She was working the front desk, bar, and kitchen alone. Whenever we needed something, there was a significant wait time (which wasnt the employee's fault). On day 5, the entire hotel had no water. We had to stay out all day until it was fixed. When we returned, there was water, but no hot water. This was the last straw.

The doors make a lot of noise when they shut, so that might be a problem for some. Had to park across the street in the ramp, I think it was $16/day, so not bad. Has a washer and dryer for laundry, only takes quarters. There's a water fountain by the bathrooms. Very high ceilings, which is a nice feature. Very quiet (besides the doors). Breakfast was great; nice open seating area. Not many exciting options for restaurants nearby. But, the The Lost Fox has an amazing burger and is a fun place to eat. There's also a nice, little restaurant in Union Depot. Overall, great place to stay. A bit of a pain in the ass getting your luggage back and forth from the parking ramp. But, I think most people would enjoy staying here.
