For the most part, this is a pretty good place to stay. The only thing I did not like is it is a bit on the expensive side, parking is a little bit difficult, and the breakfast is difficult to understand as you have to pay for it separately.

Parking was as advertised. But the amenities and breakfast was terrible. No lobby coffee (probably only hotel in existence) nor vending machines for basic water. Instead they force you to get coffee from the “breakfast” area for $4 each. And a small bottle of water is $6 from the little lobby market. Instead.. staff rudely say if you want complimentary coffee it’s in the room and water? Good luck. Staff were cold. Also.. the breakfast looked miserable. $16? I wouldn’t pay $5 for it. Hotel was older.. definitely showing it’s age but decently clean and no complaints there. Just spend the extra couple dollars and stay at any other hotel rather than this one in the st. Paul downtown area. I learnt my lesson.

When I booked it said breakfast included for myself and family but it was not included. Breakfast was 16 a pc per person. I believe kids under 12 was 10 or 12 a pc. Room was clean however could use some updates in room 668. The staff was friendly. Have to pay for parking 22 a night in parking garage however you can leave but for 26 you can come and go as you please. Over all it was a pleasant stay.

The hotel was ok; the WiFi never worked, and the TV in the room would intermittently stop working. The elevator and room entry cards would randomly stop working, which was also very inconvenient. The room's climate control was also very hard to regulate. I have a travel clock that tracks temperature, and it was always 5-10 degrees warmer in the room than what I would set the thermostat on.

Only one person was checking people in and the line of people was wrapped around the lobby. Our room had thick dust on the lamp and table edges and there was a sock under the bed. No faceial wipes. Convenient place to stay for concerts but expensive for the condition our room was in and the long wait to check in.

Lots of bad reviews for this place but we loved it. Room was great staff was great even got us into our room way early. Breakfast well it's $16 is it worth it not really but it was edible and the convenience of it being right there worked for us. We would stay there again for sure. Lot of wonderful restaurants nearby too.

This was our first stay at the Double Tree. It was recommended to us by a friend that has stayed there numerous times while attending a Wild hockey game. During our stay we didn't take advantage of the conveniences that the Double Tree has to offer, such as breakfast and the bar. We were there to attend the Wild hockey game at the Grand Casino Arena. The sky-walk was our preferred method of travel to the arena as recommended by a friend. The sky-walk was a VERY disappointing experience for first time users. The legend in the walk does not have points of interest shown, or directions to such places. It only shows banking buildings etc..who cares about a banking building! Why doesn't it have clear directions to the Science Building, Grand Casino Arena, and many other points of interest within walking distance?? VERY disappointed with the whole experience of the sky-walk. It would have been nice for the hotel to have a clear map of the sky-walk system to points of interest.

Rooms are completely outdated. Bathrooms don't need a towel rack in the shower but they are inconveniently there. Shouldn't have to pay for parking or breakfast if you book a room here especially considering it's a bit pricier than other places. Front desk staff was nice

Shortly after checking into our room, multiple fingernails were found on the floor and bed, even though the bed was made. A hair was found in the bathroom, which can easily happen and not a cause for too much concern but, upon closer inspection, hair clippings were found on the floor surrounding the toilet and next to the tub. One can assume what part of the body those came from. The room was very disappointing from a cleanliness standpoint. These issues were brought to the front desk and were quickly remedied. The woman working the desk was very helpful and accommodating and offered us an upgraded room to make our stay more comfortable. This new room was cleaner and put us more at ease during our stay. The only critique of the upgraded room, and also applicable to our original room, is that it was very dated. Overall, the front desk staff was awesome but the hotel is in desperate need of updates, renovations, and a higher standard for housekeeping. Next time we'll be looking at a different hotel.

The hotel was fine overall but definitely showing its age. The carpet in the hallways is rippling and could be a tripping hazard. There were a couple of weddings during our stay, so it was very busy and quite loud at times. The bar doesn’t open until 3 PM, which was a little disappointing. The downtown St. Paul area has a lot of homeless activity, so I’d recommend taking an Uber to get around.

We prepaid for 2 rooms. Only 1 was ready when we arrived so we checked into 1 room and put all our bags in there and then went t a concert. When we came back at 1am they had given our other room away that we had already paid for in full. You cannot put 4 grown adults in 1 king size bed. We then had to cancel our other room and find hotel rooms an hour south of St. Paul because everything was sold out. The rooms were already paid for before we even arrived and they gave 1 room away with no notification so we had nowhere to sleep and they wouldn't even help us find another room anywhere else. Terrible service. We checked into a hotel in Rochester at 3am. I am terribly disappointed in DoubleTree and this issue

It was perfectly normal, if you needed a place for an overnight stay like I had, then it will do the job. The beds were soft and comfortable, the staff was nice, and unlike some other hotels in the area, the security deposit/parking fee wasn't outrageous.

However, everything else wasn't great. First, the bathroom was extremely small, the toilet is pressed against the sink, and the shower felt dirty. You only get like 40 channels, only maybe 10 were popular channels. Plus, the tv remote barely worked. You can hear if someone is in the hall talking as the walls are thin as hell. Breakfast was 22$ for a buffet, but 22$ per person seems way to expensive. Pool was small and smelled horrible. Gym looked nice though!! A lot of construction nearby which was a pain to get through.

I enjoyed my one night stay. I went to a concert at the Xcel Energy Ctr. The hotel was close enough that I could walk to the concert. Other hotels closer were ridicously expensive. I loved the cookies at checkin. I would suggest a hotel shuttle for concerts. I'm 83 and I walked the 6 blocks. However, homeless guys along the way were a bit scary for me. I followed others walking that way and made it ok. I liked that I was able to park my own car.

Hotel staff was nice, the main areas of the hotel seemed nice as well. The check in situation isn’t ideal with the small area for cars to park in. I’d recommend parking in the ramp next door before checking in. Room was okay ish, the bathroom was dirty, hair in the shower that wasn’t ours. We found chips under the bed. We weren’t there for very long so it was fine but I wouldn’t stay there again.

After a long morning of travel, I arrived at the hotel from the airport and needed to use the bathroom desperately. When I asked where the lobby bathroom was, the woman at the counter infromed me they do not have one.

The hotel was nice and clean. Rooms were comfortable and the staff were very nice. BUT there are no included extras. There is a parking ramp and you pay for parking. There’s a breakfast buffet that is $20. Nowhere is it clearly posted except online. We did pay for the buffet, what was offered was not worth the money at all, we just paid for the convenience of not having to get ready to go out to a restaurant. It is not a buffet by any means the only hot food options were prepackaged sandwiches you can warm in the microwave or waffles that are offered at every rinky dink hotel.
It was all really confusing. While we were eating the buffet there was a couple that dished up plates and then got told they would be charged $20 each. They were not happy and walked out. There were numerous other people who were confused/disappointed by the whole breakfast set up coming in while we ate. While listening to the staff try to explain how breakfast worked (there was a serious language barrier) we found out that you can also get the food a la carte. Sigh. Had that been explained to begin with I wouldn’t have paid $20 for the buffet just to get a prepackaged microwave sandwich and some fruit. I would’ve stuck with just the sandwich. So all in all a nice comfortable place to stay, just steer clear of the “breakfast buffet” trap.

The restaurant in hotel was convenient, clean, and the staff was amazing. Front desk staff was extremely inviting and helpful.

I booked and stayed in a top floor suite at the hotel. There was extensive carpet damage in the hallway and there were water stains on the ceilings in the hallway and in my room. The bolt of the door handle did not actually line up or engage with the door jam. The shower had mildew stains in every corner. The A/C never actually cooled the room to the set temperature of 70 (extremely weak). The facilities themselves did not warrant what I paid based on what I expected from photos. The staff was the only redeeming quality.

It is 10+ min walk to the river center and the walk has to be through very shady and scary areas with about 3-4 police cars interrogating someone. The hotel is good, staff is good - but you have to step outside which is scary. If you were to walk around St Paul Downtown with kids, I would not recommend this because of the location.

Our bathroom mirror was full of toothpaste and one of the lampshades had a lot of very large stains on it. It was so gross. No pad of paper or pen/pencil. And no free parking! Someone paying for a room should have the parking fee waived. Depending on the price, I would stay again.

I had to take off a star...This is a great hotel, and the room was very comfortable. But at the price we paid, to be charged extra for parking and then $20 per person for breakfast, when the options available for breakfast were really no better than those we had at the Econolodge the night previous? Are you serious? For a breakfast that expensive, you would expect at least some fresh eggs and sausage or something like that. Yes, there was fresh fruit. But the only eggs were the cold hard boiled kind that come in a bag, and everything else was carbs. I'm prediabetic and CANNOT start the day with sugar and carbs, I need protein. Had to choke down the hard boiled eggs along with the anger at paying that kind of money.
