Don't get sucked into upgrades and time shares or whatever they are selling. Very annoying!

I loved the fact that the property was not too big, yet offered many restaurants and amenities. We loved the pools, the lazy river, and the swim up bars. You could also be on the ocean and swim in the protected part that was just left adjacent to the property. The main building, which had a bar and a piano bar, was very pleasant to sit in. I really enjoyed the tile fish and flora that decorated it and the butterfly collection. All the restaurants were nicely decorated as well. If you don’t have children, I recommend that you stay in the adult section. It has lovely pools. There were numerous activities you could involve yourself in, but I just wanted to swim and relax. The weather was perfect the last week of February.

We got lock up of hour room since we got there, the key for our room never worked, had to be walking back and forward between the room and the lobby, we didn’t enjoy our stay AT ALL, the staff solved our issue last minute when we were almost living and tried to ask for a refund for the days we couldn’t enjoy because we were literally the whole day at the lobby to find somebody to fix our issue, they never paid attention to us, they preferred to give priority to the ones that were doing check in instead of taking care of the ones that are there EXPENDING THEIR MONEY already, total caos.

I had a wonderful stay at Ocean El Faro. The rooms are spacious, and if you’re lucky enough to get one with the swing on the balcony, it’s such a nice added touch.

Hector, our concierge, was excellent. He checked in on us regularly without ever being pushy, made sure all our restaurant reservations were booked, and even helped make sure my birthday was celebrated, which I really appreciated.

The resort itself is clean, modern, and well maintained. There are great food options, and as a vegetarian I was pleasantly surprised by the variety available.

The only downside during our stay was the beach. It was still beautiful, but the water was quite rough during the time we visited. That said, the resort itself definitely makes up for it with everything it offers.

Overall, a great resort with great service. I would definitely recommend it.

Miguel Garrido was an outstanding tour guide and truly made the entire experience unforgettable. From the start, he was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. What really stood out was how much he genuinely cared about making sure every guest had the best possible time.

Miguel went above and beyond to make the tour special. He took the time to answer every question, shared interesting details and stories, and made sure everyone in the group felt included and comfortable. His enthusiasm and passion for what he does really showed throughout the entire experience.

It’s rare to find someone who puts so much effort into making sure guests are happy, but Miguel absolutely did. His attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile made the tour not just informative, but truly enjoyable. Thanks to him, the whole experience felt personal and memorable.

If you ever get the chance to take a tour with Miguel Garrido, I highly recommend it. He’s a fantastic guide who clearly loves what he does, and he works hard to make sure every guest leaves with a great experience.

Juan Carlos at the pool bar was also great! We highly recommend this reaort. The lazy river was so fun and Sakura was our favorite restaurant and we highly recommend!

The resort was beautiful and well maintained overall, and staff were very friendly and helpful. Our concierge Carlos Enrique was excellent with coordinating dinner reservations and answering any questions we had. The rooms were very nice and kept clean. We stayed for the afternoon after checking out on the last day, and showers were available to reserve for the end of the day so we were able to swim and fully enjoy our last day there.

It's a smaller resort compared to others we stayed at but the staff are incredible and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Bar service was limited due to number of guests and low number of bars and they really lean into the travel club sales which they try to get you to join on your real first full day. We stayed in the family area because we didn't really know about the different areas before we booked but it was clean, quiet and close to the buffet and dining. Would go back again but would avoid the sales pitch stuff.

Our stay was wonderful. We had wonderful help from Héctor who was our butler. He helped us with everyday questions to restaurant reservations. He was so helpful. Our rooms were clean and staff very prompt on cleaning the rooms. The beach here was ok but just off site to the west (directly off site. 2 min walk) was a great lagoon to swim in. The pools here are big and very fun for all the family. I found the food at the buffet ok but the restaurants were very good.

Suites are average American room size but plenty big enough. Food was good for a resort, coffee shop was great just really busy, pools were nice the lazy river was great. Bowling was a fun change for a resort. Maid service was fast and did a good job. Mini bar was not cold but we had water everyday so thats something. Room key wristband was awsome. Ocean was rough but there is a spot to swim just down aways.

We chose to book this hotel because we saw good ratings until we arrived to the resort and instantly had trouble with our room. There is absolutely nothing to do on this resort, the staff don’t listen to you when ordering or care about your needs. We ended up spending so much more money to have to get somewhat of a decent stay. If you don’t make reservations you have nowhere to eat but a buffet and the food isn’t great there. Overall not a pleasant stay and will never be back.

Hospitality was was a hit and miss somewhere nice and somewhere rude. Some staff acted like you were bothering them when you asked him for an omelette or water or water to the room. I would never stay there again when you go to the beach, surrounded by people that are hassling you to buy things that are way overpriced. The food is mediocre. For how much money we spent they only had one beer. They said it was the best it was awful. I didn’t even finish one. The mixed drinks are OK. Not worth the money. There were some good points. My kids enjoyed it, but it really wasn’t worth the money and I wouldn’t do it again.

We had a great time at Ocean El Faro. Our butler Franklin was amazing and super helpful with reservations and helping us get a cake for our son’s birthday. We loved the lazy river. We had a few small issues with our room and they were fixed right away. Be aware the the cost of sunscreen at the resort is anywhere between $35 and $50 usd per bottle so make sure you bring enough from home.

The property is so aesthetically pleasing from the second you walk in the lobby. Everything is so clean and well kept. The rooms are spacious and easily accessible from the main parts of the resort. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. I want to give a big thank you to Franklin who was our butler for the week. From the time we were introduced to the time we left he was a huge help and made our time on the resort even more relaxing. He attended to any need and question with a great attitude and was always so nice. He was very efficient and speedy with all things we had asked of him throughout our stay.

We ended up upgrading to a swim up suite and better liquor package with a butler. But, we barely used our room. We loved going from the beach, to the 2 pools without kids, and the lazy river. The evening entertainment was fantastic, staff was kind and helpful. We enjoyed bowling and just relaxing. Food was good and the cocktsils were great.

Very clean rooms with friendly staff. Extremely good for families with children’s ( lazy River there, which is also a big fun, foam bubble pool, there were concerts in the evening with dancing around the bar. Good Japanese and Mexican restaurants Highly recommended! Will come again! THANK YOU!

This is amazing resort, not sure why there's so many bad reviews! If you read them, don't let it stress you out, our vacation was great! Rooms were clean and spacious, fridge was restocked daily and room was cleaned. There was a SLIGHT smell of mold but it was gone within 5 minutes of being in the room. There's so much to do! Nightly entertainment in different locations, bowling was fun, the disco was awesome for people who like to drop it like it's hot! The lazy river was great, we spent many days there. The beach is quite rocky and the water is super rough, red flags everyday. The lagoon to the side of the resort is gorgeous! It's literally right beside the El Baso beach. There's no rocks just gorgeous sand and the waves are all broken by rocks further up in the water so the red flags do not matter. All the restaurants were great except for route 66 which we found all the meat very dry. We upgraded to privilege upon arrival and ended up getting the best butler ever! Jose Miguel Jimenez is a great guy, made sure to find us everyday to make sure everything was going great! He made all our reservations and took care of all our needs, he even got me a full case of water delivered to the room for my partner who drinks a crazy amount at night. He makes you feel like family. We truely enjoyed our stay and are even considering going back for 2 weeks instead of 1 next year! Again we want to thank Jose for making our vacation so great!

From day one, Miguel went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us. He provided daily updates through The Ocean Post, keeping us informed about events, activities, and restaurant availability so we never missed out on anything. That personal touch made planning each day effortless.

He also handled all of our restaurant reservations seamlessly, ensuring we had great dining times without the usual stress of availability. On top of that, when we encountered a minor issue in our room, Miguel took immediate action and personally followed up to make sure it was fully resolved. His responsiveness and attention to detail were truly impressive.

My overall experience at the resort was good, though there were several issues that held it back.

The amenities were impressive, and the property is huge with plenty to explore. I especially enjoyed the long pools and the swim‑up bars, which quickly became my favorite spots. The resort also offers a solid variety of activities throughout the day. Mornings often featured events at the beach, while evenings brought entertainment to the plaza. The daily “Ocean El Faro Post” newsletter was a nice touch, making it easy to see what was happening. Another highlight was the concierge service. My assigned representative, Franklin P., was extremely helpful, arranging a VIP dinner and assisting with restaurant reservations, which made the stay noticeably smoother.

However, logistics were inconsistent. Procedures at places like Ocean Burger changed from day to day, creating confusion. Several advertised activities never took place, such as yoga, trivia, and dance lessons. In one case, we waited an hour for movie trivia staff who never arrived, and employees nearby didn’t seem interested in helping. Coordination with Expedia was also poor; perks and late check‑out benefits weren’t communicated internally, leading to repeated trips to the lobby and conflicting answers until a manager stepped in. I also joined the H10 membership for perks that were never provided.

Lastly, the beach is beautiful but rocky, with some algae in February, so water shoes were helpful.

Miguel, Miguel you are wonderful. Let me tell you a short story about the trip. Due to missed, flight, my mom inlaws visa expire for a transit through US, I had to buy a new flight instantly. I paid for 3 rooms initially but another person couldn't get his passport renewed on time. Mom went ahead of us, I had spent about $10k before getting there and I was so angry then I met Miguel, this guy has something, Instantly money meant nothing for me, the 2 days instead of 4 was worth the while and i came back without even thinking about the money i spent. People like you are rare Miguel, I don't know if you will see this but I pray you see this because I want you to just be you, just stay the way u are. That resort is very fortunate to have you my friend. And because Of this, I am coming in Feb again only if you are still there. In fact I will come there there feb, I don't want to go anywhere else. You are a blessed person and God loves you. You have that thing with people where people just get along with you. I told my wife Miguel was so good, then everybody at once said Miguel is the best, he doesn't need to fake anything, he is just a good person. My name is Theo and I will be coming there a lot, Miguel you made my lost of $10k by of United airlines felt like i lost $50 just the way u approach people. For the love of God don't ever change. Everything and everyone was amazing. When we had a problem in the room, our private concierge was right on it. Everybody is nice and there's lots of things to do. The only thing that I think was sad is the beach. It is really beautiful but there is lots of rocks in the ocean so it's hard to swim.

He was always available and handled everything promptly, from dinner reservations to room service needs and arranging taxis for trips into town. His support truly made our stay even more enjoyable. Staff was courteous. The entertainment staff were friendly and hard working. Special shout out to Franklin, our butler, for going above and beyond for us. He was very friendly, and always pulled through with his promises of making our dinner reservations and all around making sure we were enjoying our time to the fullest. This review is mixed because while the staff was amazing, there were too many hiccups along the journey and it started before we even left. Days before our arrival, we received a message that the jacuzzi in our balcony was no longer available. We could have either cancel our reservation or get a $250 credit to use at the resort. The credit was useless. It was too late to find another resort in the area as everything was booked. Upon arrival we were notified the room we had requested was also not available. Once in that room, we realized that there was a leak above the safe which was wetting our passports and valuable. We also did have hot water in our in room jacuzzi. We had concierge service and while he was great at making our reservations for dinner, we still had to go all the way to reception to make a formal complaint. We were then moved to new room, but still no double bed and we’re traveling with kids. All this back and forth and moving rooms took time away from our vacation. The customer service was lacking. With all said, Miguel, our concierge was lovely and did everything he could to keep us and the kids happy. The young ladies who run the Jelly House-Ruth, Maria and the other girls were lovely and they keep a good schedule of activities. The kids, 4 & 8, loved the kids section and water park. Ramon, who works at the Italian and steak restaurant was amazing. He made sure the kids food came out first and made sure we had lots of food. Shoot out to Domingo & Marcos.

We enjoyed our stay but this is nowhere close to a 5 star hotel. We rooms need painting and maintenance. I had to ask housekeeping to come several times and they kept skipping our room. Great amenities for the kids but the speaker next door to the pool is obnoxiously
Loud so you can’t sit anywhere near it and if your room is pool facing the noise will absolute keep your baby/toddler awake during afternoon nap. The food was subpar. Japanese and Mexican restaurants were the best but Route 66 was inedible. Buffet staff seem miserable and it shows it the service. We were one of several
Families that had to complain about the service level although it did get much better afterward.
All in all the kids had a great time lazy river and water park are great but I wouldn’t reccomend and we won’t return.

This resort was amazing and I’m so glad I booked here. We stayed in the junior suite rooftop and it was perfect. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. They cleaned the room everyday and made sure the fridge was always stocked. The whole resort was beautiful and all the staff was amazing. Our concierge Miguel Garrido was absolutely the best ever and did an absolutely amazing job making sure everything they was good and that we were taking care of. He booked everything for us and we didn’t have to worry about a thing…. Would definitely recommend and will be going back myself again.

Rome needs to be renovated. The staff were not very friendly. Franklin was the best—he was very nice and helped us a lot. The food wasn’t good. Don’t go to the restaurants; the buffet food was better. We got sick during our stay. The performance was very good.

The rooms are very dated and the level of hygiene was consistently poor. It felt neglected and poorly maintained.
• Lack of Amenities: Basic essentials were missing. There was no hand soap or hair conditioner in the bathroom. Furthermore, the Wi-Fi/Internet was very weak and unreliable throughout the stay.
• Service & Efficiency: While the staff were polite and friendly, their work pace was incredibly slow. We were a group of four, yet housekeeping constantly left only one or two towels. We had to repeatedly ask for basic necessities like towels and bottled water. Be prepared to pay extra for almost everything. Activities like bowling and arcade games require additional payment. Also, the on-site shops are extremely overpriced, even by resort standards.
The Positives:
• The staff members are kind-hearted and well-mannered, but the management seems to lack the systems to provide efficient 5-star service.

We recently stayed at Ocean El Faro and had a mixed experience.

The rooms were clean, but there was a very strong humidity smell that was hard to ignore. The bathroom design is also inconvenient — if water from the bathtub reaches the floor, there is no proper drain.

Check-in was poorly coordinated. We had four rooms reserved together, yet each was placed in a different building. My room was assigned to an adults-only area near the pool with constant loud music, which was not expected. The process took nearly three hours. It would greatly improve the experience if the resort contacted guests before arrival to confirm preferences.

Dining was inconsistent. Blue Moon was good (around 80%), and the steakhouse was decent (about 70%). The Italian restaurant did not feel authentic, and the Japanese restaurant was disappointing. The buffet offers many choices, but quality does not match the variety.

The coffee shop is great, but often understaffed, causing long lines. Alcohol selection was also below expectations unless premium brands were specifically requested.

The beach and activities are enjoyable, but better organization and staffing would significantly improve the overall experience.

We recently stayed at Ocean El Faro in Punta Cana. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained, and the pools are lovely with plenty of space to relax. Overall, the staff throughout the resort were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were nice and comfortable, though a bit dated in some areas. The food was average at best — we’ve experienced much better quality at places like Club Med. The elevators were frequently out of service, which was frustrating at times. Service at the buffet was inconsistent; while some staff were attentive, others seemed more focused on socializing with each other, and we often had to ask multiple times for coffee, napkins, or butter — sometimes we received them, sometimes not, depending on who we asked. On a very positive note, our butler Jose was outstanding — a genuinely great guy who went above and beyond to help us throughout our stay. We chose this resort specifically for the Vilas Tennis Academy, which was excellent. If it weren’t for Vilas, we likely would not return.

Food was not that great. Meats were typically overcooked. À la carte options tasted worse than the buffet. From a service standpoint, most workers seemed like they hated their job and didn’t want to be there and were not friendly. That reflected in the service towards guests. This resort stay convinced me not to return to DR for vacation anytime in the near future.

We really enjoyed our week at Ocean El Faro.
Our room was always clean and the fridge was stocked.
We enjoyed all of the different restaurants and loved the unique vibes. The nightly entertainment was fun and was different each day.
We were also assigned a butler, Hector, who was incredible and checked in on us multiple times a day to ensure our stay was everything we wanted it to be.
Would definitely recommend this resort!

My boyfriend and I visited Punta Cana for the first time and stayed at Ocean Rl Faro Resort. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with friendly staff. Our flight was quite early in the morning and we arrived well before check in time. Hotel staff was super accomodating and provided our room 3 hours early. We had our own personal concierge named Hector who was absolutely amazing. He texted us through our stay to ensure we were enjoying our time and making sure we had everything we needed. He was able to answer any questions we had and was very friendly and professional. He made all of our reservations for us, helped set us up to booked excursions and helped out any way he could. He was great! We booked our excursions through the hotel and each one was lovely. Unfortunately we were unable to complete one excursion due to windy weather, but we were provided a refund for this and appreciated this very much. The rooms were beautiful and cleaning staff was lovely, even making us cute little towel folds with flowers. The resort itself was great with activities for everyone. Lastly, the food was amazing at every restaurant we went to, and drinks were awesome too. Definitely would recommend this resort! They had many activities for kids too so great for families.

It was absolutely incredible. The grounds are spectacular—lush, beautiful, and perfectly maintained. The pool is fantastic, and the lazy river is so much fun. The bars are outstanding—great cocktails and a lively atmosphere. I have to give a special shoutout to Carlos Enrique—his warm hospitality made our stay truly exceptional. I can’t recommend Ocean El Faro enough—this resort is a real gem!

This resort was great. The staff are incredible and made the week so much fun. Rooms are clean and restaurants are amazing. Lots of games and activities going on throughout the day. Dirty dishes. No customer support at all. Staff look grumpy and show no interest in serving guests. The worst and most serious issue was a major safety hazard: a large concrete decorative letter “A” from the “Dominican” sign near the beach was not properly bolted or secured. It nearly fell and could have sent my kids to the hospital. Extremely dangerous and negligent. In addition, there are potholes everywhere along the walkways on both sides of the building, making it unsafe to walk. The food is tasteless, dining facilities are poor, and there is no variety—the same food is served every day. Not worth it. Be careful.

This was a beautiful resort. Tons of food options and stuff to do! The staff were amazing! The only down sides is that they allow people to reserve chairs even though they have signs to no reserve. They don’t do anything to prevent this so there are a lot of chairs open with just towels on it but no people so it’s annoying when you are at the pool and need to put your stuff down or need a break from the sun.
