Comfortable overnight stay

I enjoyed that the hotel was on a canal and very near to where my niece lives. It is an easy walk from the bus station on the other side of a highway (you walk under the highway). The stairs to the first floor bedroom were quite steep but the room was clean and comfortable. You can open the window but then you get the traffic noise.

Awesome stay

It was an amazing stay. The continental breakfast was outstanding. They know how to feed travellers. Very quaint hotel. I would recommend it to anyone not wanting to stay in Amsterdam. It is a 10 min bus ride to the airport

We had a great stay here... A lovely quiet spacious room in good clean condition.
Breakfast was basic, but included in the price so can't complain.
First come first served on parking at the hotel but there free parking close by.
Situated a little outside the city centre in a lovely leafy area with easy access via buses

Beautiful quiet little hotel!

The hotel was a quiant place in a quiet neighbourhood. Very close walking distance to several great restaurants. The ample breakfast included at the hotel was delicious and delightfully served. Rooms were very quiet and comfortable, just a tad on the small side but included all of the comforts required for a short stay.

It's a cosy, quiet, noise-free boutique hotel. Rooms are on the 1st floor. Ours was the only with terrace and it was nice. Comfy beds but lighting is very weak.
Modern toilet with floor heating. A shelf to put toiletries/makeups stuff would be very handy.
Breakfast is brought to the table and based on cheese, ham/salami, bread
jam, etc. You are given the choice of opting for eggs.
Easy to get there from the Amstelveen bus station where the bus 300 leaves you from the airport. Waking distance to caffes, restaurant and supermarkets.
I would stay again!

ALP De Veenen is a small hotel a short walk away from the centre of Amstelveen and the bus station. It is situated in a quiet street near the old town and a wide selection of bars and restaurants.

The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is plentiful, with a choice of breads and sandwich fillings, orange juice, coffee or tea, as well as the option of eggs and/or yoghurt.

My room was small but comfortable, with coffee and tea making facilities, a fridge and a large television offering many different channels. The bathroom had probably been recently refurbished and looked lovely; the shower in particular was nice, with two different shower heads.

The only reason why I haven't given the hotel top marks is that the room was rather hot, and if I left the window open at night I was kept awake by the traffic noise from the nearby motorway.

Wonderful! I was allowed to check in early, but thebroom wasn't ready. I asked about food. Gave me walking directions to something close. Room was ready when I returned. The rooms are named instead of numbered. That was cute. I visited the restaurant in the evening. Prices were normal for the area. The food and service was Awesome! I was attending a comedy show at the Ziggo dome. About a 30 euro taxi ride to there. 60 to Amsterdam Central station. I would definitely stay here again.

Issue I had with my 1-night stay: rooms on the ground floor are very noisy overnight because they're close to the room where meals are served. They shouldn't be offered to customers until serious works to insulate from noise are completed.

Great value hotel a bus ride away from the airport

A tired looking hotel exterior but my room was modern, spotless and comfortable. The apple and chocolate were a treat and breakfast was generous with a variety of choices. The staff were helpful and pleasant. There was even a cute young boy who held the door open for me. The airport bus is a 10 minute walk away.

Compact hotel in Amstelveen

Having fully read the description of this 3 star hotel, we were confident it meet our needs, and we were not mistaken. (Sometimes when you read critical reviews, you wonder if the person actually did their research or had excessive expectations...)

The staff were very polite, attentive, and helpful; at breakfast, which was a continental version, served at your table (for COVID-compliance reasons), the waitress was very busy, but ever-smiling, and after just one day remembered that \"we would like milk with our breakfast tea please\".

Evening meals were prepared by Roy (\"Leroy\"), and without exception they were first-rate! Clearly someone who enjoys what he does, if he is not too busy, Roy will happily discuss how he cooked what he has served. He's a cheerful character, and deserves recognition.

The Dining room was nicely decorated and tables reasonably apart to encourage compliance with social distancing, and well illuminated too - you could actually see what you were eating!

The stairs (we were on the 3rd floor) perhaps needed a bit more light, and were a bit steep, so you need to be aware of that when booking.

The room we had (Karel Appel) was nice and clean, window not overlooked, compact, but perfectly adequate for a couple, with ensuite washroom separated by a sliding door.

Remember you are in The Netherlands, so don't expect many English-language TV channels; but exploring the audio options for some films can give you interesting results.

Convenient location. Easy to park, close by Stadshart (shopping area) which is on walking distance. Not difficult to get to Schiphol airport. Nice personalized breakfast.

Not so good:
TV system doesn’t work well, often restarts and some channels are disrupted. Electricity in the room is not functioning well, in our case half of the wall outlets don’t have power.

Location both positive and negative; nice to have a mall close by but for Amsterdam -which will be important for many people since there’s nothing to do in Amstelveen- you need to take a bus. They mention metro and tram but those are not close by at all and not findable so you’re stuck with the bus system. There’s a large bus station close to the hotel and mall, a ticket is rather expensive, count on €30 for 2 people as return, then a parking garage in Amsterdam center is even cheaper?!

Very good stay. Just stayed 1 night. The room was a bit small but it was modern, clean, there was enough room to be comfortable, tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a nice bathroom all finished to a good standard and had a sort of coziness to it despite the decor being functional and minimalist. The breakfast was nice and for a 'Covid Breakfast' rather than the usual buffet it was a good effort. Free parking outside the hotel and a really good location easy to find and close to the Amsterdam Forest.

Our stay at Alp de Veenen was great! They have an amazing continental breakfast every morning and the room was clean and comfortable. The staff were incredibly helpful, giving very good information about what to do and see in Amsterdam and how to get there via public transport. Would recommend for anyone wanting to explore Amsterdam who have travelled with a car as they also have free parking.

A little paradise in the Netherlands

This was the second time at the hotel and loved it even more than the first time. My room was on the top floor overlooking the canal which is just what I wanted. The room was very cleaned, spacious and cosy, with en-suite bathroom. I felt like at home instantly again and all the staff is very friendly, cheerful and respond quickly to the guests needs. The area surrounding it is leafy and quiet, with all the means of transport and a huge shopping centre minutes away. Breakfast is superb, with many fresh choices every day. With Amsterdam , the airport & the seaside only a few minutes away (max 30 mins), to me is the perfect heaven to escape and chill out for a few days...already planning my trip there, happy 150%! <3

Decent accomodation but in no way at all Boutique

This hotel is a mixed bag in my opinion, while it arguably does the job for resting your head in a safe accommodation there are a few complaints that can be made:
Pro's-
- the tv in room has BBC 1 (good if you're a Brit like myself!)
- the staff are polite and certainly multilingual which is impressive for a small independent business
- the shower consistently worked which is always a bonus
- although it may seem out in the stix, Amsterdam is easily accessible via tram from amstelveen
- the hotel provides much information regarding activities in Amsterdam and the local area, even offering discount vouchers which helps as the city is very pricey
- the breakfast is free but this is good as I wouldn't have paid for it
Cons-
- not sure if this is normal, but we had some noisy neighbours who were up every morning before breakfast which is at 7am and didn't know the concept of inside voices so if you're looking for a lie in ,this place won't suffice
- the breakfast while being free is pretty limited and once the single tray of hot food (only being eggs) runs out, that's your lot
- a restaurant is advertised but there isn't one its only for big business conferences etc
- the hotel is advertised as boutique but it isn't in anyway , the decor is outdated and there are no facilities so if you're looking for luxury go elsewhere
- when you get your room key, don't let the name get your hopes up because it means nothing, we got the 'Van Gogh' but it had no character, its just room 46

Friendly, helpful staff. It was very convenient being able to rent bikes at the hotel and we really used them! Also loved the little personal touches - the apple in the room and the complimentary coffee and tea, as well as the hearty breakfast that comes free with the room. The location is less than 10 minutes' walk from the station (which is a 15 minute bus ride from Schiphol), and even closer to the old town where many of the restaurants are located.

I was in Amsterdam for the weekend to see a concert and I booked the hotel hoping to find somewhere nice to stay, especially after another trip in Birmingham (UK) where the hotel turned like hell on earth.

This time I got far more than I bargained for and I am still on cloud one, after coming back home in the London (UK).

My stay at the hotel, was the perfect frame to a magic weekend in Amsterdam & I cannot thank the hotel staff enough for making me feel like I was in a shared house, more than in a hotel.

The hotel is very close to both Amsterdam Centre & the airport, very well linked to both via bus & metro, only a few minutes away from the hotel & also from the local shopping centre. The area is very residential & peaceful & the hotel sits in front of a canal, just very relaxing.

The hotel & the room is very clean and cosy, my room (Mokul), spacious and bright, cosy & peaceful, with all the utilities included, including complimentary water, fruit and chocolate, which was a healthier option to coffee & biscuits.

The staff is very friendly, helpful & accommodating (I asked for a late check out & it proved no problem at all, they also helped straight away when I could not work out the radiator.

Breakfast in the morning was a feast of sweet & savoury food & a variety of drinks I just did not know what to choose, all served in a nice, spacious room overlooking the canal.

Last but not least, I felt very safe, both in & around the hotel, even at night...superb!

Lovely choice

This hotel was a great choice for us. You would need a car to stay here though. It is in a quiet residential area. You can walk about 5 minutes to get toseveral restaurants and shops. It is about a 15 minute walk to the train station. The beds were very comfortable and the staff were very helpful. We did have an issue with out TV and finally gave up trying to watch it after a couple of resets from reception. Breakfast was very good, there were hot options, as well as the normal meat and cheese offerings.

Nice Hotel - ok for Short-stay

The overall verdict is ok to pleasant. I stayed with my wife for 3 days in which the service highlights were the breakfast and the nice location: a bit away from busy centres but easily accessible in a calm and half-way romantic neighbourhood. Downside was the TV and wifi service and there was no fridge. Price was good for the service, cleanliness was acceptable and staff was very helpful and kind.

Friendly small quiet hotel

All the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a quiet residential area. It is quite a way from the centre of Amsterdam but the Metro provides a fast link to RAI and the centre and is about a 15 minute walk away. The bus stop is about 5 minutes walk away and provides an alternative way of getting around.

The cons: is a little hidden because it blends with the neighborhood. The power outlet don't fit with smaller style plugs that are common in America. I had to use the tv USB port to charge my phone

Beautiful room on a canal & parked

This beautiful, clean and comfortable room was just outside of Amsterdam. We stayed for 5 nigghts. We enjoyed our short (10-15 minute) walk to the tram station, getting a sense of Dutch living. There are bikes available for rent, and another bus station 5 minutes walk away. We arrived in the emerging spring, so our walks and evenings were full of birdsong and fresh air.

We ended up catching a bug on our travels and had quite the cold/flu while in the Netherlands, we spent our days gently sightseeing, and our evenings recovering in the spacious and modern room. The bed(s) 2 singles together, were VERY comfortable.

The breakfast was great, lots of yummy cheese and delicious coffee.

We will stay here again!

The parking at the hotel is very limited and if you arrive at the wrong time Street parking is very limited as well. After circling a few times, thankfully I was able to find somewhere to park not too far from the hotel. This should be more clearly outlined in the hotels description ( especially if the weather is bad or if you are a solo traveler concerned about safety or transporting your luggage a far distance).

The hotel is in a beautiful location on a lovely residential street and fairly close to a big shopping arcade too! If you're looking to go to central amsterdam it's a bit of a pain as it's a 10 min walk to the tram station and then a 25 min ride on line 5 to the centre. But the price and the fact it includes an amazing breakfast is why we chose it. No regrets. The staff were very very very friendly and it is free tea/coffee/hot chocolate all day and evening. Great stay! Just a shame about the slight inconvenience of getting into central amsterdam.

We chose this hotel for ease of access from the motorway and being located on the outskirts of the city. Excellent links into Amsterdam by Tram, Train or Bus made for an enjoyable sightseeing trip each day. Excellent shopping mall and local restaurants and a pub all within a 15 minute walk.

Comfotable Room for Your Price

Rooms are tidy, well kept, and accommodating. They provide everything you need for a comfortable stay. The breakfast is impressive and delicious. The location is wonderful and there are plenty of amenities within walking distance. I would encourage anyone looking for a more relaxing, quiet stay near Amsterdam to stay in this quaint Amstelveen hotel.

Nice hotel , peaceful and quaint

I had a good welcome and staff were friendly and helpful. Felt like a queen at breakfast as was served at the table , with eggs to order and the food was good :-) definitely recommend it :-)

Homey, quiet place in Amstelveen

I loved the fact that this is not a chain hotel - lots of character, nice staff, great interior design in the foyer, and an extremely generous breakfast. I had meetings in Amstelveen and so this place was very convenient. About a 10 minute walk from the Amstelveen bus station.

I stayed at this hotel about 15 years ago and really liked it. Unfortunately I was put in a tiny room at the top of the house where they are in the process of renovating. There were patches of fresh plaster on the wall and a footprint on the carpet. There was no bedside light the first night and the television didn't connect properly.
I very much like the neighborhood and it is conveniently close to the International School of Amsterdam as well as to trains into the city centre.If I were to stay again, it would be on condition I get one of the better rooms!

Small hotel with good value for money

This is a rather small family hotel on the outskirts of Amsterdam. On the upside: Nice personel, good value for money. On the downside: Not so convenient location if you do not have a car, no free Wi-Fi.

Great Transport links

I had stayed at Alp De Veenen before and chose it because the price was right and I knew the transport connections would be great. I was attending a concert at the Heineken Music Hall and there was a bus (if I recall correctly the 300?!) that would take you from the Amsteelveen Bus Station to the Arena area in 20mins. There are connections to Amsterdam too. Free parking is a bonus and the hotel is just off the motorway so extremely easy to get to. The decor was a bit dated and the TV system unnecessarily complex. But I slept well and the breakfast the next day was fantastic. There is a shopping centre near by and the Amsterdame Bos is a short drive away. TIP: The Cobra is shut on a Monday! I always seem to stay on a Monday! Overall I would stay here again if I didn't need to be in Amsterdam central and it was a short stay.

Nothing fancy, but comfortable.

It's a peaceful location, clean and with everything you need on site. The bar was reasonably priced as was the excellent food. Delicious soup and salad, and the breakfasts were very good. The room was compact, but clean, the bed was comfortable (although I don't like plastic bed covers under my sheets), the shower was hot and the complimentary teas, apples and the introductory glass of wine most welcome

Decent budget hotel

Friendly service, and slightly quirky (read, interesting) room layout. Restaurant did not seem too inviting and rather spartan for supper, but there is a whole cluster of restaurants 250m further down the street. Happy to stay here again.
