Pool was out of service, even though there were no notifications, or signs and nobody said anything about it at check-in AND when we asked where the pool was an employee directed us to it but did not disclose that it was temporarily closed. Had I known I would have booked a different hotel.
The lady at the front desk did not apologize or offer anything to make the situation better. Instead, she was enjoying the breakfast she made at the guest breakfast area.
Will not book this hotel again.

My 1st room the sink didn’t drain, door lock was broke, got switched 2nd room, bathroom bathtub was pealing apart, mold around tub, toilet would flush, sink stopper was missing. Fire alarm went off do kitchen cook 5am, Elevator was broken, won’t stay here again. Not Marriott standards. My sons room had a butter hole in there window.

The gentleman who works in the evenings, though nice, does not know his job 100%. He had some challenges with my Expedia payment and charged my mother card for the room and did not inform her.

However, Melissa, the GM took care of the situation the next day. She’s a great person with a caring heart. She is the main reason my family will return for future visits.

Orchid at the reservation desk was very helpful because the person online at Hotels.com had booked my reservation in the wrong name on the hotel's end and it took a while to find it. I would not have believed it had I not seen it with my own eyes, but it was true. Same reservation with two different names (Jenkins/Kahlil) under the same reservation number. I had received the one with Jenkins on it, the hotel received the one with Kahlil on it.

VERY LITTLE water pressure at the bathroom sink. Toilet did not flush the first time it was used and never worked the whole 1-night stay. 2 Adults and 3 kids. UNEXCEPTABLE! Hotel said that they would get it fixed. NEVER DID! When we complained it was like they knew the room and the problem.

The indoor pool was not working, which was one of the reasons I wanted to stay at this hotel. Also, there was mold in the caulk inside the tub that can easily be fixed by cutting out the old caulk, let the area dry completely then redo it with caulk that is 100% silicone. It is waterproof, and infused with mildewcide or biocide to kill mold and mildew spores. This fix costs less than $10!! Then, there were people running up and down the hallway as though they were outside. The associates at the front desk EXCELLENT!!

My stay at Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Chesapeake Suffolk was decent overall. The staff was friendly and check-in was smooth. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a short stay 🛏️✨. The breakfast was a nice touch with plenty of options to start the day ☕🥐.

What I really didn’t like, though, were the hotel hallways—they were extremely hot 🔥🥵 and uncomfortable when walking to and from the room. It definitely made the experience less enjoyable.

With cooler hallways, this hotel would easily feel much more welcoming. The location is convenient, and the service was good, but I hope they address that hallway issue soon.

All of the Handicap rooms were as far from the elevators as possible, requiring, for us, very long walks. The first room we were assigned did not have a flushable commode, so we had to move to another floor. The second room had a broken shower, which constantly leaked during our entire four-day stay. The Coffee maker also had a missing part and had to be replaced. We had reserved a room with a "Roll-In Shower," but none were available at check-in; only high-sided tubs were offered. We were locked out of our room twice and had to obtain new keys. For two handicapped customers, this was a huge problem. The AC worked well and the room was clean.

This property does not live up to the Marriott standard. Everything was broke. The phone, the fridge, the pool is a huge safety hazard and very cold. It is not ADA compliant completely. The chair for those with handicaps is broke. There is only 1 elevator so if it is down for maintenance people need to use the stairs. I won’t ever stay there again for the price we paid.

The room had a broken window, looked like a rock had been thrown through it. Bathroom had mold in the tub shower. The shower curtain was ripped on both sides, so barely kept the water off the floor.
There was no bathmat had to use a towel.
When the final straw was there was ants.

The lobby area has flooring issues as well.
And all the breakfast was free it wasn’t very good and had a very small selection.

Recommend staying in a different Fairfield

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel. The beds were uncomfortable with flat pillows and stains on the sheets. Housekeeping only replaced the towel on the floor and trash. The toilet was not seated properly and wobbly when we sat on it. The sink drain did not open and close with the push rod. There were black spots in the tub. The door deadbolt kept locking automatically after opening the door, making it difficult to close the door when leaving. The washing machine in the hall was broken. Breakfast was good, pretty standard with what is expected at a Fairfield with waffles and a nice assortment of toppings.

Worst Experience Ever

The only positive thing about this stay was the front desk clerk, Dorian. Right after checking in for our three-night stay we discovered so many things we had concerns about which we reported right away. It was a king bed suite with a pullout sofa bed (twin size), but they advertised that the room slept 5. I still can't figure their math in that. So we asked for a rollaway, which they didn't want to give us at first to accomodate our party of 4. Many of the tiles in the bathroom were cracked so bad they were in shards and in many places it was missing grout to hold tiles in place. After taking a shower, we understood why. Water was running out of the shower and pooling on the broken tiles. It's a wonder it wasn't running down into the room below. The blackout room curtain would not close completely due to a missing hook (we reported this multiple times and they never did anything). Water had accumulated next to the window (my son's socks got soppy wet when he stepped next to the window). It appeared to be running out of the A/C closet located next to the window (this was the only thing maintenance tried to take care of while we were there--it stayed wet). Housekeeping never gave us fresh towels and they never came in the room during our stay. The pool was closed for maint. There were many burnt out lights in parking area. The room phone didn't work. No stopper in sink. Overall they have major maintenance issues throughout property they obviously aren't addressing.

Issues with the bathroom light switch. The main light switch in the room had to be the opposite of the bathroom light switch in order for it to be on. The bed was so so. The room was very clean. The bathroom was all clean. The front desk person was very attentive, polite and helpful.

First breakfast was food I can’t or won’t eat like kale and tomato frittata and eggs with jalapeños. Second breakfast was much better with croissant sandwiches and bacon. There were no cart available to haul our stuff up and a person the next morning didn’t have one either. The cars are also too small like the ones you get at the airport. I recommend you have more carts and the traditional larger ones. It was otherwise very clean, my husband slept well but the beds were way too hard for me. I gave it a high rating though because they had a hot breakfast and bath tubs.

The hotel was nice overall. So here are the pros and cons.
PROS:
The check in and check out staff were very friendly and helpful.
Hotel was clean, room was nice and clean, A/c was on in the room when we arrived which was great because it was over 90 degrees outside with a heat index over 100 so a cool room was great.
Beds were comfortable and the room was very clean.
Bathroom was spacious and clean; towels were in good shape.
Room had plenty of closet space with hangers, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and plenty of cups.
As stated, the a/c worked well and wasn't noisy.
Room was quiet, clean and no bad smells, sleeping was great.
Breakfast was very good with a nice selection with eggs, sausage biscuit sandwiches, waffles, muffins, juice, fruit, cereals, coffee, etc. We really enjoyed this breakfast.
CONS:
Shower could have had better water pressure but was adequate.
The lobby, reception area, breakfast area, halls were hot like the a/c was not working well to keep up with the heat.
We took our food up to the room to eat, a slight inconvenience, but it worked out well.
BOTTOM LINE: We enjoyed the one-night stay and would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel, but the wifi only worked half of the time. The room was nice and clean, but nothing special. What I didn't like was the pool. It was small and didn't look clean. I was excited to use it, but then never went in because I felt dirty looking at it.
Also, the breakfast needs bacon and plain eggs. Everything was some cheesy egg concoction with only sausage.

The hotel was okay. The lady checking us in was arrogantly rude. The website said they had a hot tub they do not. When I asked about it she said because of the room that we bought we didn't have a hot tub. I asked for an upgrade none of the rooms have a hot tub and the one in the pool area has been covered up with wood but the website says they have it I'm 75 years old one of the reasons we picked this hotel is for the hot tub

The room smelled moldy and damp. The only way we managed the smell was by spraying our own Lysol and keeping the air conditioner on high, which ment we needed to keep the room cold even when it was making us uncomfortable. I asked the front desk person on Saturday morning if we were getting our room cleaned because my daughter went the bed, and if not, I wanted a fresh set of sheets for myself to change. I was informed I was getting my room cleaned. But when we returned at night, the room was not cleaned at all. Had to ask for the sheets again when they could have just given them to me earlier in the day when I first asked. The door to enter the room needs some maintenance. We try and stay with Marriott brand but for future family visits, we may need to consider other options. We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites Chesapeake-Square Mall for previous visits, and had to stop going for similar issues. It seems the brand is struggling to maintain a level of quality.

Member of this hotel brand for over a decade, however this was the worst shower i have ever had to use. Large room ( handicapped, I didnt ask for it) but shower had no pressure, a portable nozzle which was broken and inoperative. One of our towels had a blood or poop stain and it was visable from the display. We got in at 1am, after driving from NJ ( because of a death in family). We have stayed multiple times in this place and like it but this room needed work. Also the sink didnt drain completely. Room 222, have photos but would not let me upload.

We loved the service and the welcome at the front desk - who went over and above to make sure we had our account set up in order to get the best price for our room. The atmosphere was perfect on Christmas Eve. The only problem was that the bed was very hard and a little uncomfortable. Otherwise, i would highly recommend!
