Anyone who knows the Alexander Inn loves the Alexander Inn. From the charming antique features --stained glass and art deco insets, lovely tile work--to the spacious rooms and the friendly staff, it is a delightful property. The location is sublime for Philadelphia fun.

Parking was two blocks away from the hotel and very expensive, more so than what they had advertised. I got a ticket when I unloaded my car and checked in for parking on the street. Staff was not helpful at all.

We’ve stayed many times over the years at the Alexander Inn and we wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else in our visits to Philadelphia. You cannot begin a better location with more interesting people. The staff is very friendly and helpful and we always meet interesting guests during the social hours each evening.

While a nice size, the room felt dated and a bit worn. It was also very warm and we weren't able to adjust the heat. The shower also made a high-pitch sound when turned to hot. The hotel is a good location and has some charm, but could use some sprucing up.

The location is great with many good restaurants all within walking distance. Short walk to Convention center and to Reading market.

Room was very nice but small. I mistakenly reserved the smallest room with a twin bed. Overall the hotel is very nice. I recommend a queen or king size bed for taller and or bear types, my husband and I fit in that category. I like the complimentary breakfast and drinks. Hotel is LGBT friendly and in the gayborhood.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff was incredibly friendly, the room was spotless, and the amenities were top-notch.

I even had the pleasure of enjoying their complimentary breakfast. There was absolutely no need to contact them for any issues with my room.

If I ever find myself in Philadelphia again, I’ll definitely give this hotel a try and see if they have any available rooms for me.

Staff were very friendly, social happy hours was a very pleasant surprise, and the 100-year-old hotel was in great shape in the heart of Philadelphia a couple blocks away from Jefferson Health and Penn Medicine Hospital systems. I had a 8th floor small room with a great view of the city. I walked to the hospital for my procedure. I'm definably staying there when I go into Philadelphia again!!

My room was cozy with a lovely sit-in bay window and a great view of the street. My stay included breakfast and wine at the end of the day which was a lovely touch! The hotel is so close to everything I wanted to do. I will definitely be staying there again!

Room was hot and no way to control heat. Front desk says only way to cool it down is to open the windows. Sucky tv. Not a smart TV and no guide. Just a few channels to choose from. In my opinion bed was too hard; not very comfy. Breakfast was mediocre and they kept running out of coffee. Random dude roaming the halls stealing paintings off the hallway walls (no joke) then caused a ruckus as he kicked the doors on the way out. I'm a Philly native so I'm used to seeing crazy crap like that, but not something you want to see in the hotel you're staying at. Good location but I don't think I'd stay here for more than a night.

While the room was clean and the bed comfortable, the overall experience was disappointing. Evening snacks and wine included rotten fruit, warm wine, and cheap cheese. Breakfast was also poor: no fruit, no cheese, only boiled eggs and low-quality pastries. We waited more than 20 minutes for coffee and had to ask for everything, from utensils to cream cheese. The hotel clearly needs more staff at breakfast.

This is such a cute place to stay. great location It reminds me of a European hotel. The complimentary evening wine and snacks along with breakfast are a nice warm touch . And they welcomed my well behaved dog. best of all, the people were very nice.

The Alexander Inn is a handsome, charming, bijou hotel in the heart of Center City Philadelphia. The location and ambiance are just right.

The best part of my stay, however, was the staff:, funny, warm and wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble fro them. They have a talent for making you feel welcome without being fawning or intrusive.

I chose the Alexander Inn for its location and its charm; I’ll return, thanks to the wonderful staff.

The hotel is very charming, more so than your typical hotel chain. It is clean and neat and quiet. I received maid room service the first day but not the second day which surprised me. The breakfast was limited but adequate. The staff was very accommodating.

We stayed here in November. For some reason, the heat was on full blast, and I saw a thermostat set to 83F. It was stifling.

The only way to get relief was to ask the staff to come into our room to turn on the AC. What kind of system is this? Who actually wants the heat that high?

The building itself seems kind of old with visible cracks in some tiles. I am fine with that, but what I am not ok with is the shower having very weak water pressure.

I will say that the staff was absolutely first rate and none of my complaints should reflect on them. I wish them all the best. And for their sake, I hope someone will turn the heat down.

Very friendly staff, great experience and good price for a last minute booking. Slightly firmer bed, otherwise very cute and charming place. A bit of oddness with lack of control of AC units, after housecleaning temperatures would be reset colder each day and had to go down and ask them to not make the room so cold a few times.

The room key had issues a few times. Had to park 3 blocks away for $50/day. The tv was from the 90s. Breakfast was ok. Staff was fine, the “hotel” is almost borderline “motel”

Hotel room had several issues, rotted door frames, uncomfortable bed, dirty carpet, bathroom sink did not drain, and worst was black mold in the heating/cooling unit. Can’t report on shower operation since didn’t feel comfortable doing that. I rarely ever post a negative review, this place needs work. Hallways were dark with soiled carpet as well. They had a social hour with cheap but free wine and a sparse breakfast, probably accommodations meant for incentive to look past the problems.

I was only here to stay the night and leave the next morning. The room was a bit small, but it was nice and cozy. The room was clean, and the bathroom was fine. I stayed on the 6th floor but was still able to hear some noise from outside, but it was the night before Halloween. I was still able to fall asleep.
There are no complementary water bottles, but they do have a water dispenser and paper cups for us to use, so it was fine. There is also a convenient store right across the street.
I had the complementary breakfast the next morning, and it was fine. I enjoyed a boiled egg, a pastry, a Chobani yogurt, and a hot cup of coffee.
What stood out to me was the staff. From greeting me, checking me in, to helping me check out, they were both very friendly and professional.

I had a wonderful stay at the Alexander Inn. It’s a wonderful older hotel with lots of charm. The rooms are very spacious with high ceilings. Its location is great. You can walk to so many different spots. They also don’t nickel and dime you. There is no resort fee. It doesn’t have a bar or restaurant which is no big deal. They do have complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby area at any time you may want a hot coffee or tea. Lastly, the Alexander Inn is very economical compared to the larger and chain hotels.

Friendly staff. The location of the hotel is close to all tourist attractions. However, due to the vintage of the hotel (per hotel staff) the ac system is too sensitive for customers to control them. Every time you need to change the room temp, you have to call the front desk to do so.

Very friendly staff. Convenient location. However, the situation with the air conditioning/heat is ridiculous. Our room had a mini-split that is too high to control and no remote. So in order to turn on/off or change, you have to call up the front desk to come up. Totally absurd. So of course it will be either warmer or cooler than you'd like all night. Also, the carpet and the walls of the shower were not clean. And, considering this, the price of the room was not cheap. Bed seemed clean though.

The boutique hotel provides personal service with a sense of nostalgia. The staff is friendly and efficient and ensures that that guests have a memorable stay. Beautiful Facility, small caveat.

Parking was a problem as there was a festival so parking was inaccessible. But I was not make aware of this and no arrangements or offers for alternative parking offered until I make hotel aware that parking would not be available. The hotel should have at the very least should have been aware of this so guests could prepare better. Other wise the staff was wonderful and helpful. The room and rest of the facilities were clean and so tasteful with a bit of historic charm.
