Looking forward to going back to the Morris House. This boutique hotel is perfectly located near the hospitals and downtown Philadelphia. Scott the manager on duty on Tuesdays and Wednesdays went out of his way to take care of us. From the freshly baked cookies that are set out at 3pm with tea and coffee to wonderful breakfast served in the dinning room every morning, this space is lovely. Our room was spotless, with two thick robes, and all the amenities. Mattress was very comfortable. Really cannot say enough nice things about this gem of a hotel.

We were met by a delightful and informative gentleman (John?) manning the front desk who truly loved his hometown of Philadelphia and was a wealth of knowledge and orientation for us. He filled us in historically, culturally and using a map, gave us lots of direction and advice, which was helpful as we only had two nights here. A very historic house, 1787, and inspiring to stay in.

Quaint little B&B near Wills Eye Hospital (perfect for a stay after you’ve had surgery). Linda provided a great tour full of historical highlights. Our favorite part was the freshly baked cookies for afternoon “tea”. (The cranberry oatmeal were superb). The house was preserved very well and they even give you a bronze key to get in/out of your room. Would definitely stay again!!

My teen daughter and I stayed here for one night while traveling around PA, NJ and NY. This place is so cute. When we first got here we were greeted and given a quick tour including some history about the house and how it came to be a hotel. The room was very well appointed with a full, updated bathroom. A “continental breakfast” was included which consisted of coffee, juice and fresh fruit, cereal, homemade muffins and coffee cake.

The hotel is with 5 minutes walking distance to Independence Hall, and a 20 minute walk to Reading Terminal. Lots of great places to eat around within walking distance. While the hotel offered a discount for overnight parking at a garage across the street, it was still over $32 for one night.

All in all I would highly recommend this cute little place as an alternative to the larger (and more expensive) hotels.

The Morris House Hotel is a gem in Philadelphia. It's rich with history, and you will feel like you stepped into the late 1700s when you are here, but with the amenities of the 21st century. Jerry and Alejandro made us feel at home. Their continental breakfast is sufficient to fuel for the day, complete with coffee, tea, milk, juice, yogurt, muffins, oatmeal, and boiled eggs. Perhaps one of the greatest benefits is that it's walking distance from the Independence Historic Park area, which was the main reason for our visit to Philly. The rooms are large with ample space. I called ahead to request a welcome gift for my husband for his birthday, and Jerry exceeded my expectations with a beautiful cheese tray. We are very happy and hope to return soon.

Location, Location, Location

This establishment is within walking distance of many historic sites in the old town. The staff at Morris House was very friendly and informative. They gave us a map of the historic district and surrounding area and told us which sites were the best. The property was built in 1787, and though it has been well cared for, it is very old! If you want sparkling and new, this is not your place. However, if you want a unique place to stay with comfy beds, this is a good place! The rooms are decorated to period, but have modern conveniences such as a clean tiled bathroom with lots of hot water for showers. Though some reviews talk of a restaurant and bar on site, there is not currently a restaurant or bar on the property. The breakfast was served in an intimate room with a fireplace, and included hard boiled eggs, English muffins with toaster, coffee cake, muffins, cereal and yogurt. There also was OJ, milk, drip coffee and Keurig coffee maker. Though we were disappointed that there was no restaurant, there are several within a short walking distance. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

All in all our stay was good. It was my first time in Philadelphia. I chose this hotel because I liked that it was a small boutique hotel with history. It felt like a bed and breakfast. It's within walking distance to Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Visitor Center, Tour bus and restaurants. We arrived around 9pm and Linda was very nice. She showed us around and gave us a history lesson on the hotel. Get there before 11pm. They lock the gates and you need a key to get in the side door on 8th St. We stayed in room 203. It's right above the lobby and dining room. I was concerned about the possible noise of the front door, but we didn't hear anything. The hotel is quiet. Take into account that we were gone early in the morning and got back in the evening every day. We did hear the subway a little bit from our room, but it wasn't bad at all. The room was very spacious having 2 rooms with a door you can close in-between. The mattress definitely needs to be replaced. Before going, I saw reviews about the hot water. You do have to run it longer to get hot water. It's really hot when other rooms are taking showers already. The water pressure wasn't the best, but it got the job done. My girlfriend recommended more lighting in the room for doing her makeup. Parking is in a \"tight\" garage across the street. The hotel discounts it a little bit. Just bring the parking ticket to them. They have a continental breakfast every morning. All the staff was very nice. I would stay again.
