Unfortunately we checked in later in the evening, and went right out to eat. We were initially disappointed in our view of a gigantic metal wall, but easy-going enough to not care. When we arrived back at the hotel it was time to sleep, and that’s when we noticed the heating unit noise. Every hour, on the hour, we were woken to the sound of a freight train clicking on, rattling, and turning off with a scream. We cordially asked to change rooms the next morning, and were told one would be available within two hours. That was when we decided to shower, and found ice cold water as the only option. Our second room was as to be expected (no noise, hot water, and a view of the lobby), which served only as a reminder of how extremely unfortunate it was to have to endure the agony of the first night’s stay. The hotel lobby was lovely and they had a really nice gym on the 4th floor. The only other complaint would be that the ice machine was located on the 3rd floor, and only had ice 1 out of the 2 times we went to fill.

We had a wonderful stay at the Philadelphia Marriott Old City as part of our Valentine’s celebration weekend. The location is perfect—close to great restaurants and historic attractions. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and made us feel valued from check-in to check-out. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, making the weekend both relaxing and memorable. We would absolutely stay here again.

Room was great. Lots of room, beds were comfy and quiet. Front desk staff was very nice. The bartender/waitress was lovely and the food was great.

The only negative was the temp of the water in the shower. The water wouldn’t get hot even when left running for 5 mins. Water got warm to take a shower but barely.

Room was gorgeous, and immaculate! Service was terrific on every level, from the valet parking to there always being someone available to open the doors for us and serve an after hours meal (delicious soup and sandwich). Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely recommend!

This is a higher priced hotel, so I was surprised when my car was stolen from in front of the hotel. At first I thought it was towed, and the first person I contacted at the front desk had an attitude when I was trying to find the car. The whole stay was a disaster. Hot water in shower was also inconsistent. Hotel manager did give us some credit on our bill, as well as a breakfast voucher, but I will not stay here again. Overpriced and not safe. And yes my car was locked and has a security system.

Absolutely not worth the headache or the ridiculously high price tag. Terrible experience. As soon as we walked into our room, we were hit with a strong mildew smell. The bathrooms are clearly not cleaned as evident by mold and mildew in the showers. Our neighbors talked on the phone literally all hours of the night. ten, eleven, midnight, one, two, ... straight through to nine in the morning at which point they then starters blasting music. She was speaking so loud I could hear their conversations word for word. We complained to the front desk on two separate occasions. On complaint two, they finally asked us if we wanted to switch rooms, but then told us they were leaving that day. So we conceded and said we don't need to move if they'll be checking out later that day. Well, the people did not check out. As a result we did not sleep for three nights straight.

The staff is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable - they deserve a 10. However, the property has several problems. I went to take a shower and the shower diverter handle fell off as soon as I touched it. I was in a time crunch so I used the valve to control water temperature. I tried to contact the front desk using the phone in the room, but nothing on it was labeled and every button I tried produced a busy signal. The WiFi didn’t work either. On my way out I advised the front desk and they sent someone to repair the shower while I was out, which was much appreciated. When we retired for the evening I had a very hard time locking the deadbolt on the door- I am not in anyway disabled,, the door is not properly installed. My husband is much larger than I and was able to get it locked. The next morning I tired to leave the room and let my husband sleep. But I could not get the deadbolt to open. Ultimately my husband had to get up to open it. This is a fire hazard- so I did inform the front desk upon checkout. Also, my husband took a shower that morning but the repaired handle at the hottest point did not produce anything hotter than lukewarm.

This was by far the worst hotel experience I have had in my 56 years! It started poorly and got worse. Starting with being told there was no parking available. No options presented. Then at 3:30am there was a major disturbance. After several calls to security, I attempted to ask them to stop ending into a physical altercation. Follow up to security from that altercation left unfollowed up. The next morning I was told “it was “NYE” at they only had one security person. Well, they also only had one bartender that night and the next morning only one person at the coffee bar. Clearly poorly managed and poorly staffed. When told that they had multiple calls for security on other items, but they did call the police. Just no viable reason why they would handle the situation the way they did

Staff openly questioned me as to whether I belonged at the hotel. This property offers no refunds and does not include a breakfast. I was kept from arriving on time by my airline and the room was nice. But the staff gave me no reason to want to stay again.

I booked my room through Expedia, paid in full. I arrived to the hotel the front desk ladies were not the friendliest. One was arguing with a delivery guy who seemed lost. I was fine with the parking charge & the hold they put on card for property damage, etc. It’s about $321. The front desk didn’t double check that this hotel was already paid for in full. They charged my credit card another $221 because they didn’t ask or double check to make sure this hotel was paid for, they charged me an extra $221. No courtesy call for their mistake, no I’m sorry for the mishap, nothing. But that was not my only issue! The noise level in the hotel was ridiculous. People screaming in the hallways at 9am. Loud noises from housekeeping. Housekeeping banging on the doors with privacy tags on the front. Very disappointed with my stay, the hotel was beautiful, room was clean. Just some minor disappointment. Great location, Probably wouldn’t stay again.

The location of the hotel was good for the historical things we wanted to see while visiting. We did have issues with the hot water 3 out of 4 mornings when in the middle of a shower there was NO hot water! It was not at the typical \"busy\" time in the morning either. Front desk employee was very nice in the AM when we informed her of the problem, the one in the afternoon definitely had more of an attitude with questions we had. The morning we at breakfast at the \"restaurant\", we were charged $24/person for the typical buffet breakfast many hotels offer for FREE. I will probably look for a different hotel for my next stay...I wasn't that impressed for the nightly rate.

The hotel was nice and the staff were kind enough to move rooms for us when I said the air conditioner was making a very loud noise in the first room. The air conditioners are loud in every room it seems (but better in some) so if you have trouble with inconsistent noises, it may be bothersome. It is a little inconvenient that there is only valet parking available and that you have to go to a lot that isn’t part of the hotel to park; however, valet let us take out our bags before parking the car. The bartender at the hotel bar was very cool to talk to and made great drinks. The hotel was very conscientious located to a lot of restaurants and it was easy to walk to all the historical sites we wanted to visit. We would visit again.

I have stayed at this property before and suggested that my group stay there because of the positive experience. However, I was not as impressed with the service this visit. During booking, I had to pay a fee for an additional guest in the room but when we arrive the room was not set up for 4 people as I had listed on my reservation. I called guest service to request 2 more sets of towels and when we returned that evening the towels had not been delivered. I had to call guest services a second time to eventually receive the requested towels. I am not sure what I paid the additional fee for in this case. Additionally, we waited over an hour for valet parking with no communication from the staff about the status of car or our place in the queue.

I have been a guest at Marriott Bonvoy Olde City several times (My son is a Philadelphia resident in Old City.)
During this particular visit there was a wedding party and some sort of other gathering that was very noisy and very late. I understand the celebratory moods and parties, but perhaps some investment in sound barriers on those balconies might help.
Also - valet service was dreadful this time. Not enough space in your entry circle, not enough employees to help with valet requests and unloading of vehicles. Perhaps expand that space even at the expense of affecting the front landscape. My vehicle was requested early in the morning, and I still had to wait almost an hour when I was leaving. Seems they could not locate the car.. I missed a lunch date. Next, I was quoted a price online of $809.74. At check-out the bill was $960.91.

Disappointing experience

Really disappointing especially considering cost. The location was fantastic however:
- the hotel said it was smoke free but there was a horrible smell of cigars that made us nauseated - unsure if this was previously a smoking room or someone was smoking in a nearby room
- there was a giant roach that wandered our room at night, I was unable to catch it
- generally our room felt dingy, stains on carpet etc
- towels were crappy
- the printed literature said there was room service until 11pm every night, when we called to order we were told it was closed at 10 on a Friday
- the bar had limited options
- even if you’re a Marriott member you don’t get free WiFi if you don’t book directly
- there aren’t ice machines on each floor and only one water dispensing station per floor near elevators - the floor layouts are too big for this

Pros:
- location was fantastic
- staff we interacted with were very kind
- bed was very comfortable
- valet parking car return was very fast
- temp control in room was great

Epic! There is no better city to celebrate our country’s independence than Philadelphia. Thomas Jefferson penned the Declaration of Independence to King George lll on July 4th 1776 in Old City while the revolutionary war raged on…The Old City Marriott complimented all of the wonders of historical Philadelphia.
Always been a Marriott stay gal as whenever fly to LGA for numerous visits “home”, I always stayed at the Marriott on Ditmars Blvd in East Elmhurst which is where I grew up. Lived, loved, played, was raised and reared on Ditmars in a home located between 29th and 31st Drive! From now on, I stay at Marriott’s whenever and to wherever I travel. Am in the process of setting up a week long stay on St. Croix USVI at y’alls Marriott on island. Thank you for an amazing stay at The Old City of Philadelphia Marriott which added to the thrill of visiting my son who resides in Northern Liberties(perfect as is super close to Old City) and celebrating the 4th together!

The overall experience was first class. Starting with the man, who took our suitcases, was so friendly, so welcoming and informative.
The bar that night was short of staff, even though, the barman, was able to serve each customer with kindness, courtesy, efficiency and a smile. Kudos for him.
Elizabeth, from the front desk, was kind, helpful and informative as well.
All that, besides the location, the food and the beautiful hotel.
