The property is beautiful and the space would be comfortable for 2 people. It was advertised for 4 and the couch bed was incredibly uncomfortable, even for children. You do have to factor in the cost of the shuttles to your stay which can add up quickly. A separate but beautiful part of the island.

Rustic and run-down. The floors were buckled and coming up. BUT it was clean, and the shower had plenty of hot water for both of us to use. The beds were comfortable and again, clean. The management was very nice and helpful. It is a long way from town; be prepared to bring a bike and walk that bike up the hills. We booked a studio condo and found out that their website was down and they overbooked. We were put into a 2 queen bedroom with a small fridge and microwave. We were not given a discount or reimbursement.
I wouldn't say this is a bad place to stay; just be prepared that it is not a luxury hotel.

The interior of the room was fine. The bed was comfortable and the shower has really good pressure. The exterior needs a freshen up. Wood siding and there was a fair amount of rot around our balcony. Im sure the winters are hard on the buildings. For the value compared to other places on the island it's still a winner. If you looking to not break the bank this condo is the place to stay.

Beautiful peaceful on other side of island beside Stone Cliff resort. Could not fully see lake from room but could see through trees and beautiful sunsets and sunrise! Loved having the small kitchen. Just enough for us. We had a large deck that was great for coffee in the morning and reading. One of my favorite things was taking the horse taxi back and forth every morning and evening. So relaxing and got to so much just that way. We preferred the taxi instead of shuttle because shuttle was only certain time and crowded. It was about the same cost.

Be warned! Many rooms do not have Air conditioning, and they do not make this obvious or noticeable in the listings! 84 degrees in my Deluxe Suite at night, no fans, no offer for a portable unit, worst uncomfortable stay of my life.

We stayed one night. Our room was old but very clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows and there were extra towels. The only issue was the TV volume was messed up and would go from quiet to loud and couldn’t be adjusted.

It would be nice to have several bottles of water for guests since it’s so out of the way. I suggest that you bring food and drinks with you. We did end up going to the general store at the neighbor property Inn at Stonecliffe to buy water. They have a few grab and go items.

There is a very nice Woods restaurant and Bobby’s Bar that you can eat at that’s a short walk. You will want to bring something dressier to wear there to dine but we just went in the bar and ordered to go. We had a nice stay at Sunset Condos.

The rooms were a bit away from downtown. However for the price it was totally worth it. The staff was very polite and helpful. It was actually nice to be out of town. At the end of the night we juat took a quite taxi ride back to the room. We will stay again!

if you enjoy peace, quiet. seclusion, this is the place, A couple miles from activity, so if you alright with biking through paved wood trails. (we managed fine), only real challenge was a 1/2-mile incline leaving town. Not all condos enjoy feature photo, most have obstructed views of west lake. Al in all, we enjoyed very much, just expect some work to get it.

Nice location and nice price. However, the room is in the middle of 2 other rooms with connecting doors and you can hear everything if anyone is staying in one of the ajacent rooms. Left side had a barking dog for hours that was barking under the connecting door. Other side had a party group going till after 3 am and we got to hear all of their storys and cussing and bumping up against where our bed was- paper thin. Otherwise, a little older but pretty well kept. All depends on who is staying next to you. One more thing, this is on the lower level and very loud walking from the people above.

The condo is pretty far away from town,however the horse taxis are fun and easily available.They have a porter to send your luggage on,at the ferry docks.So you don’t have to go back and forth.You can stay right in town and explore the island until you are ready to head to your room.When we did our luggage was in room waiting for us.Also the next day at check-out the porter took our luggage to the ferry and made sure we got the next available taxi into town.When we were ready to head back to Macinaw City,we found our luggage held at the dock.Also there are a few nice places within walking distance The Stonecliff is a great place to have drinks and watch the sunset,we had dinner at the Woods.The staff there was very friendly and the food was five star.All in all our stay at the Sundet Condos was a very nice experience.

This is definitely off the beaten path and a trek to town! The condo in Pinewood was stifling hot when we arrived. The fans helped once windows were opened. Kitchen window did not open which would've allowed for a cross breeze. We had to prop open front door to help cool the condo. It's cooler at night thankfully but critters came in from screens with gaps or holes.

A bit run down but a quaint little room with a balcony. View of bridge was blocked by another house but good view of the lake. The closest food was at the Stone Cliff $$$ with a tiny \"general store\" ie: paid $4 for a yogurt! Very limited options. It was 1.8 miles from the main city streets and we were not aware we could get a shuttle. Very secluded and quiet. Suggest you bring your own groceries/snacks!

It looked like someone had stayed there and it was not cleaned before our arrival. There were all sorts of home improvement tools on porch. Totally fine with all of that being there, just thought I was sting in a daily weekly rental. Absolutely loved the shower!

We booked a room on with two beds on Expedia and got a reservation I’m with one bed and a very worn out pull out couch. Bathroom was functional. Super thin walls and there was just a thin door between us and the condo next to us. We heard loud music and loud talking while our neighbors were getting ready to go out and then loud talking until 2am. Around midnight my husband went to talk to them. They changed nothing. We could literally hear every word clearly. The outside is very dilapidated with junk around. Bed was not comfortable either. Would never recommend.

The room is very different from the picture. I was counting on a kitchenette with bread toaster. something to prepare a light breakfast with. The actual room was just like a hotel room with coffee machine (coffee was good!), microwave and refrigerator. no safety deposit box. no A/C. It was all we need but nothing fancy. It was quite far from the city where everything happens but for the price we paid and last-minute planning, it was good enough. at least water pressure for shower was good.

The room had many broken elements, including blinds, door handle broken and it certainly was mish mash decor. It was listed as a condo, but I believe it was staff housing. The towels were clean and the beds were ok. Many discarded items around door on the porch. Would not return there.

I stayed here on a work trip and it was suitable for one night. I would not have wanted to stay longer though. The location of the condo (at no fault to the place) was very far from downtown, so you have to have a bike or take a taxi. We were here for work so its not something we thought ahead to do. This does not take from the place, just something to keep in mind. I paid for a lake view condo which was more money and you could not see the lake. Also the curtain was broken on the back door and when I tried to close it, it fell off the wall. It was a nice place, but was not overly memorable. The check-in and out process was very easy.

We loved the forest setting, however there was no deadbolt lock for the door. The sheets were not comfortable so we suggest that thread count be increased. The room was cold and we could not adjust heat. Please add plastic ware to the room.

Property needs ALOT of maintenance. Balcony needs major power washing, peeling paint etc. Inside room looks like it hasn't been updated since the '70s. Also, not properly supplied. Gives you dishes but no sponge or soap to wash the dishes. They had maybe three tissues in the tissue box etc.

Spacious for a family of 4. If we were staying more than 1 night, I think the kitchen amenities would be great for cooking! The sofa bed needed to be vacuumed before use (lots of food crumbs underneath cushions from previous guests). The sliding balcony door locks on screen and glass door are broken; thus you cannot lock it. This was a security concern, and we didn’t discover the issue until 11 pm, so after hours & calling staff to address wasn’t an option.

I was quite embarrassed to be staying here. It was very basic. The grounds were terrible, no landscaping. It’s hard to find, in the middle of nowhere hidden in the bushes. There were wasps in the bathroom, the bathroom sink was blocked up, and the ceiling fan was falling apart. This place is in dire need of upgrades. My wife and I had to pay $22 each way to town for the both of us. That’s $44 per day extra. Next time I’ll pay that extra for a bed and breakfast in town.

Nice the condos are in a quoet, beautiful area next to a very nice resort, however they really are quite far back on the island. Pullout couch was extremely uncomfortable for our kids and our bed, although with a decent mattress was cheap metal that had bent legs underneath leaving it to feel unstable.

Very quiet location near the beautiful Stonecliff resort and our fav restaurant The Woods. Very convenient to walk to dinner.

The room was clean and fine for one evening.
The bathroom shower pressure was great, yet tge bathroom had a very strong urine odor.
When the sofa bed was open, it made it hard to maneuver.


Updating on balcony would be nice. Stain wood would enhance the whole building of sandalwood.

This place has its ups and downs. Really cool area and nice view from the deck. It was a little difficult checking in and the person who helped me on the phone was rude. Although this probably isn't a problem too often, there is no air coditioning. Also, getting there with your luggage can be a problem. It's far and a pretty strenuous bike ride. You can take a horse and carriage, but thats very expensive.

One of the most unpleasant lodging experiences ever. The lack of air conditioning made it especially unbearable, as it was 84° in the room the first day and because we mostly relied on walking everywhere we’d come back to the room exhausted and sweaty with only a loud box fan for relief. The room also smelled - musty/moldy. We bought an air freshener which helped a little. The view from the patio was beautiful, and it felt better on the patio than in the room, but the height of the railing meant that sitting on the patio completely obscured the nice view. The screen to the patio was torn, so while leaving the screen open was the best bet temperature-wise, it let bugs in, including the huge spider that was on the wall when we first arrived. The toilet continued to run and run and run after flushing. The faucet was difficult to use - took all your strength to pull up. The shower was good. The room was outdated, a mini fridge (not at all the bid condo kitchen pictured). The location was incredibly inconvenient to everything, and walking was unpleasant as you had to dodge bikes and horse manure, both of which were everywhere. We left a day early and were just very disappointed, and were offered no partial refund or recompense when we called to let them know. To be avoided.

Location was lovely. You are nestled in the woods away from the crowds. The grounds are very peaceful and well maintained. You are situated next to an upscale resort (not affiliated) with a gorgeous view from the restaurant. The other restaurant nearby, The Woods, is also high end dining experience.

The condo itself was decent sized and fairly well equipped for basic cooking. I was only surprised that there was no salt/pepper or cooking oil provided in the unit. One thing to note is that there is absolutely no noise insulation between units. You will hear your neighbors, including their pets, as if they are sharing your room. We ran a fan for background noise whenever we were home. After 10pm, everyone did seem to quiet down. We were on the first floor and luckily no one was above us during our stay.

Also note that you will need to have a bicycle. We loved being outside of the “downtown” area but without a bike you will have to rely on the shuttle or a taxi which will limit your ability to get around. But if you’re up for being in off the beaten path then this location was great. There are so many great trails and paths to explore and it’s a 10 minute bike ride (down a fairly steep path) to the beach.

The cost was great, the sunset of the deck of #203 was magnificent; however, the accommodation isn’t well-maintained with mis-matched garage sale type furniture. The balcony is in bad need of some paint and the wicker tabletop has broken sharp wicker fragments sticking up that, if you’re not careful could scratch you badly. On a good note, it does have two chairs on the balcony. You get what you pay for. If you’re looking for an inexpensive place tucked away in nature with a great view of Lake Michigan and the sunset, this is your place. Loved the short walk to Sunset Rock. What a gorgeous view!

This is a place to sleep and nothing more. We booked for 3 adults and the idea that the sofa bed was okay for an adult is laughable. 3rd person ended up sleeping on the floor. The location was a little remote but we didn't mind taking the horse drawn taxis. Walking was 30 min to town. There is no AC and the screen door had large rips in it. There is no office - so no place to get help. I don't know what the pictures are from but they had little resemblence to our space. Very expensive for a single hot room to sleep in w an aweful sofabed. I know the whole island is high priced but we were dissappointed.
