If you've never been to Cabins of Mackinaw know that they are not all Cabins. The picture shows a Cabin. When you choose the cabin. It says Cabin. But when you get there be sure thats what you getting. I soley thought thats what I was paying for. Drove over 3 hours to say in a motel on the second floor that had cabin wood and cabin style pictures. The two rows of Cabins were booked with other people. Otherwise great location to get to ferry. They also said it was sound proof. But you could here doors slamming and kids running and jumping.

The property is nice and has potential. The room I stayed in was not clean at all, dead bug on the bathroom sink! Very dusty behind the night stand when i went to plug my phone charger in! Property also lacked basic maintenance, shower drain top was loose and other small details! Room smelled very musty! bedding and linens were clean though!

I didnt use the pool. Cabin was nice everything work likebit should. I feel there should be more hook in bathroom and some type of shelf in the shower to put a razor and shave cream and shampoo on instead ofvthe floor.

This place is Mackinaws dirty little secret. Booked a room through the Cabins of Mackinaw show up to a crappy room not in a cabin. Says it's pet friendly but charge extra for having a pet. Poor remodel job with poor craftsmanship in every corner. The pool is way over chlorinated, spa has been broke for a long time, 2 jets work in the hottub. This place looks way nicer in the pictures than in person. Definitely would of asked for a refund except says no refunds stated on page. Kinda felt like a little bait and switch by the ad they post.

There was an outdoor and indoor pool. Neither were clean. The water was murky. Parking was terrible if you have disabilities. We were told it was 516 for the four nights and were charged 560. We did not get the cabin we were told we were getting (2 bedrooms, 2 floor cabin) instead we got a small cabin with two beds squeezed in. There was fossilized dog poop on the grass, garbage took three days to be emptied. Lay down on the bed and the pillowcases smelled of men's cologne. Asked for fresh sheets and had to do it ourselves. Will not stay here again.

I didn’t know that I booked an old hotel that cabins of mackinaw own . I was assuming that I will stay in a cabin . Anyway we had to upgrade to a cabin and pay a fee . The cabin wasn’t bad at all but I wish they could change the carpet and the awful dirty couch that was there .

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Indoor water park is geared towards smaller younger children. Outdoor pool was nice. The lodge portion of the hotel needs major renovations to the bathrooms as there was mold and wallpaper coming off the walls. The AC units need to be updated. Entry doors need to be reset as they dont seal completely even though they are new. Price was great but you do get what you pay for. Room part was clean and comfortable though for a overnight stay.

The advertisement is deceiving. The outdoor pool looks nothing like the picture (it’s small and dark). The waterpark is actually at a next door hotel. The cabins DO NOT have a laundry service available. I was told to go to the Ramada Inn across the street to do our laundry. The staff was unfriendly. They acted like we were inconveniencing them when we arrived. The room smelled of mold, the bathroom floor was coming undone and the carpet was filthy. We travel a lot, abroad and in the United States, and this was one of our worst experiences.

Our cabin was meant to “sleep 7” yet there were barely enough pillows and blankets for 5 people. The person working the front desk was incredibly rude to us when we simply requested early check in the day prior to our arrival.

There NOT all cabins some are a motel room. Not enough electric outlets. The shower has no lights in it and no racks or shelf’s in the shower. The room was musty smelling and the carpet was nasty . It really needs a remodel. The pool and hot tub had a lot of sand on the bottom. But the weather was great.

I liked that the cabin was individually built meaning no distractions by neighbors. It was quite at night.

I wish they assigned parking spots. Sometime someone else parked in front of our cabin and it was inconvenient.

My kids loved the water splash area, but the water was so cold. There were a cooler of pools next to it, and those two pools were warmed.

The bathtub was large, and the room was clean. The only concern was the carpet in the entry area.

Location was the perfect. Very convenient and walkable distance to ferry terminals.

We had a long hot day on Mackinac Island.

We checked in late evening to find the phone didn’t work, the shower didn’t work, bath tub didn’t drain properly.

Initially said there are no rooms to change to. It was late so we showered in another family members room while waiting for a repair.

Management was unable to get a repair completed.

We were denied any amount of room credit but were then offered a different room. By this time we had showered in a different room, it was late and we decided to simply turn in.

Poor customer service - but if I had read previous reviews, I probably wouldn’t have stayed there. My bad…

If you are looking for a fun, decent, creative experience for your family while having fun and not breaking the bank and not having big expectations this is definitely your place! Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. When we arrived, there was only one towel provided for the room. We also found hair in the bathtub, stains on the sheets, and the room was very outdated. The shower never got more than lukewarm, so we didn't have hot water during our stay.

The outside pool/hot tub was also not an enjoyable experience, as several people were drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana while using it, which made it uncomfortable for us and other guests.

Overall, there were several cleanliness and maintenance issues that made our stay less enjoyable than expected.

The cabin fully supported my family of 5. The air conditioning was sufficient, the staff was very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The place was relatively clean. It could've been swept and mopped before check-in, otherwise it was fine. I would definitely return there again to stay. I would save money by bringing a few groceries and snacks because you can easily spend 100.00 on every meal.
We walked everywhere from here and the ferry is directly across the street. The shopping was so inexpensive as well.

First the staff were rude . I would never recommend this place based on that alone. Then when you wont let me check in early because the rooms need cleaned but when I do get in and I find glass in my bed? The air conditioning worked half the time. Parking was a nightmare. Way overpriced hole in the wall motel behind the cabins. The $$$ for 2 nights. The pet fee for 2 small dogs. Then all the other issues I mentioned. I could have paid a little more and got a lot more with less attitude from the staff.

Pay attention to your booking. Picture may show a cabin but will be a hotel room. They need to do something about the moisture and the mildew smell. There was wrapper in the drawer so I know they don’t clean 100%. Bathroom had mold on ceiling. Was a decent stay though. Water park was fun for the kids and was convenient to the towns. They should spend some money on updates though. Also they need to pay attention to the stains on the sheets and maybe not use those ones. Biggest complaint is when I got home everything that was in the room stunk like mildew. I stayed in the “hotel” side.

Hot water non existent, could be called occasionally warm at best. No microwave. “Large TV” maybe 25”. Lighting very dim, that may have been a blessing. All this we were willing to endure until we tried to use jacuzzi the night before we checked out and there was no way to use it as the water was way too cold. Next morning no one at desk to let them know these issues and had to go to the clarion next door. Nothing they could do but have them call us. They eventually did and said it was our fault for not telling them earlier so they could try to fix it. Don’t know if this is a sample of the hotel quality at Mackinaw city but not taking any chances and just staying away from now on

Our stay was absolutely amazing! The cabin exceeded our expectations in every way — it was beautiful, clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed to feel right at home. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, making it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy time together.

The waterpark was also a perfect fit for our trip and truly completed the experience. It was fun, well-maintained, and had something for everyone to enjoy. We rented the premium cabins for a couple days. They were beautiful a bit expensive. There’s no yard I should’ve looked deeper into the property. I assumed with cabins there would be bonfire pits maybe a grill or a barbecue area there was not.
There was an area where they had the laundry outside, which we could see from our cabin porch and a garbage area. Something happened, where the birds were everywhere going through it. They did have trash cans in between the cabins which made it convenient, but for some reason in that area, there was a bunch of garbage.

My son and daughter-in-law’s room had toilet issues. It took a bit, and several maintenance visits, but it was fixed. Our room had cobwebs all over the walls. When we walked into our room it smelled like someone had JUST been in there smoking pot. Was it the cleaning person? Was it the people upstairs and it was coming through the air vents? I don’t know but the smell was strong and did not seem to go away for quite some time. The place is old and could use some updates but things age as expected.

The rooms are so small the door wouldn’t open all the way in one bedroom and the other bedroom the are between wall and bed was narrower than my tennis shoe on both sides. The lamp flicked(not in a romantic way) because of exposed wires! The light did not work in the shower so it was dark!
I did enjoy the price and outdoor hot tub and found the staff nice but wouldn’t recommend or go again.

Although we had thought we would be in a cabin with one queen bed, we did end up in the hotel portion, it was very clean and well maintained. Our room had 2 beds in it, not 100% sure they were queen size but overall it was a great place and would stay here again. We were on the 2nd floor, if we do stay here again I will definitely request the first floor to not have to deal with the stairs. Overall a really nice place to stay, just wish we had better communication that we were not staying in a cabin.

BEWARE WHEN BOOKING-PHOTOS SHOWN DO NOT MATCH CABIN OPTIONS!! The photos shown on Expedia led me to believe I was booking a two bedroom FAMILY CABIN. As you will see photos show a beautiful cabin with spiral staircase that is newish and well maintained. What I was actually given was a two bedroom family chalet... Which was a very tiny shed like structure with two very tiny bedrooms. The manager onsite was very kind and understanding when I spoke to him about this. I felt terrible directing my anger toward him because according to him he has no control over how Expedia is advertising the cabins. I did believe him. He did offer to move us the next day into the actual cabin we booked at a \"discounted\" rate which was an additional $900 on top of the $1500 we had already paid. 7 nights in a tiny shed with 3 teenage boys, my husband, our dog and myself was challenging. The cabin was clean on the surface but would benefit from a thorough deep clean and was not well kept. The staff were friendly except one housekeeper and the manager was so kind. We are used to camping and are not high class people so we made it work but if you are looking for something nice BE CAREFUL. The indoor waterpark and game room located in the hotel onsite were run down and smelled of mold. The outdoor pool and hot tub were not turned on until the last day of our week long vacation so we only got to use it once but it was wonderful with the view of lake Huron. The location is great/close to ferry.

We encountered a highly unsatisfactory experience during our recent stay. The evening prior to our scheduled arrival, we received a call informing us of electrical issues with our reserved cabin, necessitating an additional charge of $500 beyond our confirmed booking. While an upgrade was promised, the accommodation provided upon arrival was identical to our original reservation, leading us to believe the additional charge was an arbitrary price adjustment.

Upon entering the premises, we observed a dried contact lens on a nightstand, several drawers in disrepair, and a non-functional porch light. The beds were uncomfortably firm, significantly impacting our ability to sleep. Furthermore, the pull-out sofa was broken, causing it to collapse during use. Our attempts to address these concerns were met with indifference.

We were also informed at the time of booking that a stove would be available, which was not the case. We have previously enjoyed the hospitality of other establishments in Mackinaw, and this experience at the Cabins of Mackinaw was, by far, the most disappointing. We will not be returning to this establishment.

We were put in a handicapped cabin which we didn’t need. It was awkward to have a sink outside of the bathroom and no storage for clothes in the downstairs bedroom. There were holes in the screens, no hangers in the closet and a really big lamp next to the sink. The hair dryer was not mounted and once again not in the bathroom, just laying on the counter next to the really big lamp. Safety issues for sure. The kids loved the waterpark and it’s an easy walk to downtown.

The photos are deceiving. It looks like a well maintained hotel however, it is an old motel with alot of outside, outdated stairs that the wood was split on the treads, railings we shaky and it was difficult to get luggage up to the room. When I got there the TV didn't work, they told me that they thought all of the TV's had been switched out and the RCA TV's didn't work with the new cable they had, they didn't have cable, they had Antenna TV. We had 15 stations and at least 5 were Spanish TV we couldn't understand. Had to switch between PBS, ION and ME TV, the one movie channel was in Spanish. Next morning I wake up and the coffee machine doesn't work, get back to the hotel after sightseeing and the fridge had shut off, went to microwave some leftovers and No microwave. We stayed from Saturday until Wednesday at no time did housekeeping ever come to take the trash, bring clean towels or make the beds.

Will never recommend this hotel or stay there again!

Dated hotel turned cabin style which we stayed in. As for the real cabins they looked good from outside.

We had a great trip. We stayed 1 week. The cleaning crew was less than helpful! We had to bring our towels to the front desk people to exchange them for clean ones and turn in the dirty ones. The front desk lady was very helpful. We found a large bag of dog food behind the fridge. The fridge was TINY! Smaller than a college fridge. Garbage was not collected which would have been super helpful. They had weird pool hours. Otherwise we had a good time. Housekeeping was really our only complaint.

The room looks clean, beds are clean, but the floors are sticky. I just wore my flip flops instead of bare feet. The wallpaper is peeling, and there are stains on the walls in places. The bathroom was clean, but some of the towels were dirty still. No bugs of any kind thank God! The shower is warm but will give you periods of cold temps during. But for under 90$ it could of been worse. I suggest taking pictures and posting the actually rooms you have and not just the cabins. I originally thought we were getting a small cabin instead this hotel room. All in all it was not a bad stay for less than 24hrs.

The cabins are beautiful and in a quiet area. The staff helped me when I injured myself on my first day. The air conditioning was refreshingly quiet. The only downside is that you have to ask for cleaning (in general and wastebasket dumping), fresh towels, and change of sheets.

If you want to use the pool, forget about it. It is in dire need of cleaning.

That being said, it was a good experience with a few hiccups.

Rooms were very quiet and clean. The only issue we had was both rooms had Twin sheets turned sideways on Queen beds which meant your feet were on the mattress pad where the person the night before had their feet. That's a deal breaker for next trip.

The cabins are in an excellent location you could walk everywhere. The staff where very friendly and helpful. The cabin was a lot smaller than I expected. There aren't any tables or room for them in the bedrooms or living room space. The cabin had been cleaned but needed a lot of updates. You could tell it had been a.long time since it had new anything. If you dont intend to stay in them and are going to use it just for sleep , they are great. If you want to hang out and relax I think you might be disappointed.

The cabins have so much potential with making it nicer . I believe we stayed at a newer two story “ “accessibility” cabin. Which the only thing accessible was the bathroom entry. There was no way a wheel chair could go up the stairs or into a small room with tall beds. The floors were super dirty and honestly not sure if they were ever mopped. My kids feet were black with in the first 10 minutes of walking around. There’s spiders everywhere! The webs are so bad! There’s may flies dead all over the window seals and floor. And the dust!! You can see dust flying around and had our asthma flare up the entire stay. Half of our outlets didn’t work and there was a huge screw sticking out the floor straight up! Upon arrival we weren’t told about the water park wrist bands and we were yelled at very meanly from the hotel next door on how the cabin staff always fail to mention about wristbands and send customers over. The water park was so stinky and grimy! The cloudiest water and yellow stains all over. For what we paid for 4 nights at least mop the floor! I was dragging Lysol wipes with my feet to try and help prevent my kids walking all in the filth. There was also a very nasty blood stain on the bed. The sink was pure cold water the entire stay.

We found other accommodations. We thought we were renting a cabin. We got a dirty, outdated room, with an extremely large jacuzzi, on the carpet, in the room. The floor, I would assume from getting wet, was sagging in front of it. Also, if you’re over 5 foot tall, you won’t fit under the shower head. Room #127. Pay the higher price for a clean decent, hotel room.

When we check in we were given a dirty room (actually looked like they were still using it). It was quickly fixed. No curtains on the upstairs window. Rest was great.

I love my stay at the cabins, they were comfy and clean. They are right across the street from the ferry station. All the staff is super friendly.
The little town is awesome and full of things to do.

I highly recommend these lovely cabins. Great location in the heart of Mackinaw. We had an electrical issue in the room we booked and the staff kindly upgraded us to a chalet which made for a really enjoyable stay.
