Bare bones hotel room. No couch or seating other than beds. Our bathroom door would not shut because it got stuck on the FLOOR. Slider door was so difficult to open it wasn’t worth getting trapped out there! Bedding had multiple stains. “Breakfast” that was included was coffee and a packaged muffin, don’t really think it should be labeled as a free breakfast. Very run down hotel, holes in walls, cracked paint. You are getting a sketchy bed to sleep in, that is it.

After reading several negative reviews about this hotel I was skeptical about my stay. However I found the room to be huge and very clean along with an extremely comfortable bed. I had a lakefront room with little patio where I could watch the ferries come and go from next door, as well walk 3 minutes to board. The pool area was nice, although I didn't use it. Parking was plentiful and it was an easy stroll along the Lakeshore to the park and downtown. The front desk & housekeeping staff were all very helpful & friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

What we liked. It was water front. We had a room with a balcony. Some things had been updated. The staff that we encountered were nice.

What we didn’t like.
Our balcony was the only one with 1 chair. All the others had 2. Luckily we were okay with standing!
This hotel was very dirty outside. The one set of stairs was questionable. The room needed a major overhaul. The whole hotel needs a deep cleaning. The bathroom was extremely small.

I’m not someone who complains often but our stay was not great especially for the price we paid for the room. First of all the floor of our room was filthy, there was only one outlet we could use by the bathroom sink, and the room was poorly maintained. There were holes on the walls where something used to hang, the bathroom caulk was mouldy, the bathroom floor was squishy, the wallpaper was peeling and you could see mould underneath. We asked for a room change but none were available. The refrigerator froze everything we put in it, the tv didn’t work and the WiFi was unreliable. The ‘continental’ breakfast consisted of a muffin and coffee which tasted awful. In the 2 days we spent there we spent $100 at the local Starbucks. However, the front desk staff were great.

I liked the location. However, in the describtion they should had said it was adjacent to a ferry service. Second, they were a lake side hotel but they did not give the lake side rooms. Third they advertised as Breakfast included. They had a pot of coffee and a basket of prepackaged muffins and coupon for a local restraurant two for one breakfast costing 20 one was called Toast and Go. However on the buffet it did not have toast requesting toast was 14 dollars. Upon arrival they gave a sheet saying breakfast was 7:30-9, no service to rooms each day only when checking out or upon request. The side of the hotel did not have chairs for people who were on the otherside of the hotel. The grass was cut. The pool was nice. It could have been a better stay if they had made a little effort. I was disappointed not being on the lake side since I reserved the rooms over a month early. So the discription of the hotel was accurate for some did have a lake view but not all and we were not offer a choice of our rooms. The original offer of 2 double beds was fulfilled but I am certain there were lakeside rooms with double beds with a view of the lake. I have used Expedia for years this is the first time I was not fully satisfied.

This property is so poor they should not be allowed to collect the amount of money. They are charging per night and I am not exaggerating by any measure. This place is not put together. Well it’s not clean. The staff is lacking in skill, professionalism, and attentiveness. it should not be the name Wyndham the place is rundown outside inside and I just would not recommend it to anyone on a scale of one to 10 I would say one . the air conditioning sucked the room was put together! The phone was filthy, and not plugged in the television was not plugged in the lamps were not plugged in. They look like somebody just threw the stuff in there. Nothing was programmed. The old hairdryer holder was on the wall. The new one was laying on the counter. It was just really disgusting… like horrible nothing match. Everything was discombobulated no microwave $40 to look at the lake no screen door on the balcony patio bugs. Everywhere dirt everywhere needed to be painted holes in the wall and old dryer hairdryer unit on the wall nailed to the wall the new one laying on the counter, the ironing board and iron in the bathroom next to the toilet just totally just could not put together professionally at all. The front desk staff member was friendly and excellent. This old hotel is very outdated and could use much refreshing. The housekeeping staff does a good job for what they have to work with. We’ve stayed here many times before and don’t expect much as we just use the room for sleeping. The bedding and room was clean. However, we were disappointed that the pool and hot tub were not at all clean. There was much visible debris floating in both and the bottom of the entire pool is peeling quite a bit. The paint chips were floating around. The receptionist said she would call maintenance to ask them to clean it. We stayed two nights but did not see maintenance at all. Room air conditioning worked well. This hotel is a mile or so from the downtown area, but it is conveniently directly next to the Starline Ferry dock that takes you to Mackinaw Island. Such close proximity to the Ferry is why we have chosen this hotel.

This is a cheap place that is good for crashing for a night in the Mackinac area, but wouldn’t recommend more than that. There is like an infinite amount of mosquitoes/ flies all over your door and windows so if you are trying to get inside like 50 of them get through. The room was fine although they gave us a bunch of half sized pillows, not sure if that is just a northern Michigan thing or what but they were not comfortable to sleep on. The air conditioning was working decent enough to keep the temperature down. The shower size was nice. I appreciated the late check in that the staff arranged as I arrived at 2am but I had to go over to another hotel to check in which was weird. Overall decent place, 3 star rating because they didn’t allow a refundable stay when I initially booked 2 months before and wanted to change.

From start to finish, the experience was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had. No elevator equals us trekking up some very dilapidated stairs with all of our luggage up to the second floor. Second experience was paint peeling off of the actual hotel room door, third experience was seeing holes in the wall and furniture that looked like it was haphazardly placed in the room, fourth experience was no fan working in the bathroom, killing paint and wallpaper in the room, and most disgustingly mayflies all over the place and no screen on the door to the balcony. Therefore, we could not even open the door to enjoy the fresh air coming off of the lake. The overall state was disgusting. In the morning when we went to check out, there was a note on the door, saying that the lobby was closed and that was at 7:10 AM. They’re supposed breakfast was supposed to begin at 7:30, but even my son said he wouldn’t trust the coffee that they would make so we decided to skip their breakfast and left very disappointed with the entire stay. I would highly NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Great place for our one night stay. The staff was very kind and helpful. They gave us some coupons for local places to eat and let us know how to use them if interested. When we went into our room, the fan and air conditioning were not on. It was very hot and muggy. We turned on the air conditioning in our room and went for a walk. By the time we came back (probably 20-30 mins later), the room was cold and comfortable. The rooms have doors to the outside, which we did not know before arrival. The door opened and closed a little hard. The blankets on the beds had a few stains, and some had a few holes. However, it worked for one night. This hotel is right by the lake, so that was pretty. You may have to ask for extra towels, as our room only had one bath towel, one hand towel, and one washcloth. I thought it was a little weird that there was only one bath towel with two guests. However, the staff was accommodating and gave us more towels upon request. All in all, this hotel was a great place for our one night stay, and the price was affordable.

GAYLE

tired but tidy

In need of refreshing but clean and comfortable. The small individual balcony/patio was relaxing and a real treat on the warm September evening. Dog friendly which was the reason we chose this hotel.
