It was a good stay very quiet safe place walkable to pretty much the entire downtown n lake access in several different areas!!! directly across the street from arnold ferry service to Mackinaw island which was very convient n saved on parking fees!! The hotel itself is quiet safe n for the most part clean there is no breakfast but I would prefer the waterpark / pool area over n a free breakfast!! waterpark was a plus with the kids yes it does need a lil maintenance but overall it was jus what I needed for me and 2 small kids for 3 days!! I would stay here again!!

Bed and room was clean...but the hotel desperately needs an update. Lots of holes in the halls and near the elevators under the carpet. The pool was a hot mess....babies in diapers in the pool, thus we stayed in the hot tub area. We never saw any attendant watch anyone. And the pool location was totally ridiculous on how to get there and back to the hotel....as it's shared with another hotel. Staff was very nice. No breakfast, and thankfully area was quiet.

My husband and I stayed at Bayside Mackinaw City for two nights. The staff was very friendly and quick to answer any questions we had. The property was very very clean and seemed to be in good condition. We didn't use the pool or hot tub so I am unable to provide feedback on them. Check in was a breeze, and check out was just as quick and easy. Housekeeping was wonderful and made sure we had plenty of towels and soap/shampoo and conditioner. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom, a microwave and a small fridge. This property is on the main drag across from Arnold's ferry, and walking distance to restaurants and stores. We loved our stay and will be back again.

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay.

It took us a little while to find the pool area, and we noticed there was no lifeguard on duty. Because of that, we saw several people diving into the pool even while children were swimming, which was concerning.

It was also a bit inconvenient that there were no clocks throughout the facility.

Our room was spacious and mostly clean. However, I was disappointed that there was no liner in the ice bucket, and I found a hair between two plastic cups.

Overall, we didn’t spend much time at the hotel other than sleeping, so these issues did not significantly affect our trip. The hotel met our basic needs, and the staff provided excellent customer service.

Great location for walking right across the street to Armstrong ferry. They are dog friendly. We had a small dog and paid a $25 dog fee. Our room needed some love but was just fine for sleeping. We may have been given a dog friendly room so it may have been not as well kept as others. The lamp cord looked chewed on and some of the headboard lighting didn’t work. Would stay again for a stopover but nothing more.

Have stayed here a few times, and the conditions were what I expected. Hot tub was not working the first night I stayed. That was disappointing. Hot tub and waterpark, were working the rest of my trip. Rooms are somewhat dated. Not very clean. We only stay here because of the waterpark for the kids. It’s OK for a few nights. Looked at a room at the Crown Choice next-door. Will be staying there next time.

Waterpark doesn’t open until 2 which is a bummer but the beach is across the way. Beds are clean and comfortable. Bathrooms lack drying lines for wet clothes. The kitchenette that is advertised for the suite is nothing more than an average hotel room kitchen… it just has more cabinets. Do plan on bringing a hot plate if you want to cook in your kitchen. Staff are helpful and accommodating.

Our stay was a good stay. The water park was such a great perk! There wasn’t no continental breakfast, which we missed; and there wasn’t a staff member at the front desk at all times. The property was run down and not the cleanest. The toilet in our bathroom had a handle that would pop out. We’d have to push it back in to flush it. The staff were very friendly! They made up our room by making our beds and restocking towels while we were out. It’s a good hotel for a few nights and for the price.

Hotel is old and outdated. Our first room had moldy food left in the microwave and unclean room. The second room they moved us to had black mold growing in the sink and a bunch of bugs including ticks.
This hotel is vary dirty looking with a dull brown color on everything. The ground on the second fllor seems to also be collapsing as in some areas the floor sinks in when you step on it.
Staff is nice its only redeaming factor and they let you bring your pets.

I wasted money and was lied to about a “lake view.” This hotel is NOT on the lake. When I opened the window curtain, we were looking at another hotel, and behind that, was the lake.
I would have never booked here knowing this, nor would I of paid extra for the “lake view.” I don’t know why there are multiple pictures of this hotel on the lake, it is NOT. Our bathroom had mold all on the floor, the exhaust fan in the bathroom was broke, and they used cheap Amazon strip lights in the room. We checked in late and had to walk to another hotel to do so.
The only positive is that we were able to park at the hotel and walk across the street to the ferry.

I would not recommend Bayside Hotel in Mackinaw City. The property is advertised as “renovated,” but in reality, it only looks like they put in new beds and added a coat of paint. Beyond that, there are cracks everywhere, and the building has a very run-down feel. The room also smelled strongly of smoke, which was very unpleasant.

The owners operate several hotels in Mackinaw City, and unfortunately, it seems they all suffer from the same lack of upkeep. This place is no exception—it feels neglected and poorly managed.

Overall, I would not stay here again. There are plenty of better options in the area for the same or even less money.

This place is very convenient for the ferry dock to Mackinac island. Our room was clean but a little small and the bed wasn’t comfortable. We like the water park access to the next door hotel. We didn’t like that it says with breakfast when booking at expedia but there is really no breakfast at this hotel. We were given a coupon for buy one get one breakfast at a nearby restaurant with limited options and overpriced food. We didn’t use the coupon and went somewhere else.

It was a fair hotel in Mackinac. Bathroom had obvious signs of water damage and mold along with the fan not working. Blankets on the bed had many rips in them. Waterpark is in decent working condition compared to other ones in the area. It was actually decently quiet at night, didn’t really hear anyone else. It’s fine if all you’re doing is sleeping there. Would stay again, just don’t have high expectations for it.

My only complaint is with the breakfast coupons they give to guests. They got rid of the included breakfast during COVID, and now offer “buy one get one free” coupons to two of the neighboring restaurants.
At toast a go go breakfast buffet, children are not included with the promotion. So if you are going with an adult and child, you still pay the full price for both.
At the lighthouse restaurant, it is only one coupon per table. So if you have four adults staying in one room, you will end up paying for three adult meals and getting 1 free. Or, if you have multiple people in multiple rooms and wish to be seated at the same table, the same rule will apply. This was not listed on the coupon itself, at the restaurant, or on the menu.

I ended up going to the lighthouse restaurant for breakfast and sat separate from my adult friends who were roomed separately and paying separately to avoid this. When the server provided me with the bill, she asked “are you paying with cash or card?”, I paid with card. My friends paid cash and we left, only to then be chased out of the restaurant for “not paying” as this restaurant “does not accept cash” (direct quote from the server). Smells of discrimination.

Posting to spread awareness - the hotel itself was great, but I would have much rather dined elsewhere than the 2 restaurants they were promoting.

Didnt like we had to walk to a different motel property for pool & jacuzzi use. Jacuzzi water was cold. Water was green. When we told the front desk she said they have nothing to do with the pool. She said its a seperate property they just let us use it.
Sheets on our beds were flat sheets not fitted. They didnt cover the mattress. When I pulled to cover the end of bed then the matress at head of bed was uncovered. When we left to checkout this morning the office area was closed. So we just left.
The room itself was not too bad. There were some stray hairs in the shower and sink that didnt belong to us. But that happens. Guess the worse part was the outdoorJacuzzi and pool.

It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The room did not even have a chair to sit on. The furniture did not fit the room and you could not even open the closet door all the way because a large table was positioned across from it. I was concerned about the safety. The smoke alarm did not even have a cover. I had to beg the housekeeping staff to service our room. We arrived on a Thursday and did not get service until Tuesday. We were told they ran out of towels. They advertised that they had a heated pool and laundry services. The pool was located on a different property and definitely was not heated. The laundry services was also as a separate property. I was told I could go to the Ramada Inn on the 2nd floor to do my laundry. The reception desk was not open 24 hours. They had a sign stating the time the registration desk would open in the morning. The staff never arrived on time. Sometimes as much as 30 minutes late. Every morning the reception desk had a line of people trying to check in or complaining about the hotel. We left 3 days early because the hotel was horrible. The check in process was horrible. It was all done on paper. The desk had papers all over the place. I witnessed people who had reservations not get a room because they lost their reservations. The receptionists were rude and not helpful at all. I would never stay there again.

Room was small and dark small view that we paid extra for wasn't worth it; beds weren't comfortable and linens felt like sleeping in a tarp. The front desk immediately upon entering seemed annoyed with our very presence, as if us trying to check in was disturbing them.
The room had dried vomit on the floor and up the wall next to the garbage, the housekeepers didn’t have proper supplies (towels) to accommodate our two day stay and we were supplied with less than a roll of toilet paper (again no re-supply readily available). The second floor ice machine was leaking through the ceiling dripping on your head as you walked past on the first floor. The whole carpet was soggy and it is likely that in the very near future someone or something will fall through the floor, or you will get electrocuted trying to use the vending machine while standing in a puddle. The game room, three stories high, had a window open without a screen that a toddler or small child could try to climb through (right at ground level). The ac unit in our room also leaked so the carpet was drenched, so gross. The largest amount of money I have wasted on a hotel room. I recommend this hotel look at hiring friendlier staff that actually want to work with customers, and a maintenance person ASAP because they have some large safety concerns on their hands.

Check in is at the Crown hotel next door. Room was a little dated but right near the lake and town, close enough to walk to attractions. Room has a coffee maker similar to keurig, but would not fit k cups or other brands. So if you are one to bring your own coffee, it won’t work here.

I did step on something sharp in the Waterpark area which had to be pulled out of my foot and bled a lot, so I've got that going for me. Here's hoping for no infections!
