The property is 1.7 miles from Main Street Downtown. The carriage rides take 30-40 minutes in/out of downtown, not easy to schedule, and $11/pp each way. We walked 21 miles while we were on Mackinac Island for 3 days. We booked a King with pullout but was never informed it was a handicapped room -bug disappointment. The shower leaked all over the floor (not designed and sealed well). There always seemed to be chaos with the staff. One morning we waited 1 hr for breakfast and last night we had no service for dinner. The resort fees are outrageous - when nothing is available like painting, making pizzas, bee keeping. This was NOT good value for the $$$$$$. The veranda is very small with limited seating. There was no dedicated game room as described - it was incorporated into the dining room. This place is WAY oversold on its fine service and amenities. Stay in town. We have buyers remorse!!! The was no concierge to ask questions and could never talk to a real person directly by phone with questions. Overall, the island is lovely to visit and explore. Either stay downtown or do day trips!!!!

Very special place….relaxing and private.

My family loved our stay at Stonecliff! The entire vibe about the place is just magical. Alll the tiny details are perfect. It was a very special splurge for us, but it was the highlight of our trip. It's a nice escape to the countryside. We very much enjoyed the family atmosphere they cultivate with the beautiful outdoor areas and activities.

We could not have asked for a better experience ! The hotel design and gardens are immaculate, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the dining options were plentiful and world class quality.
The tranquil location of this hotel makes you feel like the island is all yours. Can't wait to go back !

This was one of the most amazing properties we have ever stayed at. The staff was superb.

We were so happy with our recent stay at the Stonecliffe. The property is gorgeous and the room was excellent. We enjoyed the pool and all the fun lawn games. Our kids especially enjoyed the nightly candy cart and smores! Having those activities for the kids made our trip that much better. We hope to come back soon!

Worth it

The Inn at Stonecliffe is one of the most beautiful facilities I have ever seen! Every member of the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The resort is more remote than most other places on the island but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The carriage rides into town take about 35 minutes or you can walk it in about the same. The travel through the woods is very relaxing and beautiful. I cannot speak to the amenities as I didn't use anything except the outdoor restaurant- it was amazing. I spent all my time walking or biking around the island, so i didn't see the pool area. There is a sunset viewing area on a trail behind the hotel that is amazing - don't miss that! Overall, the hotel facilities, grounds and staff cannot be beat! You will not be disappointed!
Amber
Spectacular from start to finish. Will not go anywhere else next time we are on the island.
John
It was a lovely, serene setting, excellent staff, food, facilities, and away from the crowded main drag on the island. I would not stay anywhere else, a d ai wish we had scheduled a longer stay.
Erik
Pristine property, beautiful grounds and location.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Inn at Stonecliffe. The grounds are beautiful and inviting from the hammocks to the fire pits. Traveling to and from the property was seamless. Away from the bustle of downtown, it is the perfect place to relax. The room was spacious and well appointed. The view from our room was gorgeous. Staff is extremely courteous and helpful. We had a wonderful time and are definitely contemplating a return visit.
Teresa
Beautiful grounds with hammocks, lawn games, countless flowers, and views to Lake Huron and Mighty Mac. The rooms in the summer house had nice terrace gardens. The food was pricey, but delicious at casual restaurant. We bought breakfast sandwiches from General Store which were delicious and fast. We took the shuttle to and from town, but it is also walkable if the weather is nice.
Lynn
The staff, grounds and rooms amazing.

Nice stay

The room was well maintained, but the decor needs to be seriously updated. The red shag covered bench at the end of the bed and the red orange sofa footstool especially. The carriage into town were great, but count on 35 minutes to arrive. The carriage rides to return need some work as they stop at 6:00 pm and the taxis are over an hour wait as they prioritize other areas of the island after 6:00. Breakfast was poorly served (staff disappeared and our table wasn’t checked on at all with only 2 tables seated) aLao inedible as it appeared a salt shaker in the kitchen had spilled on it at Straits, but dinner was fantastic.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The grounds were superb, the staff was so kind, and the rooms were stunning!
Jamie
Amazing place to stay. It is a hike from Main Street but well worth it. This place would be amazing for romantic getaways and our family of six loved it too. Fires with s’mores, soccer, bags, ladder ball, and so much ch more to do. The pizza was amazing and fitness center was clean. We will be back for sure!!!

Breakfast was very good! Staff was helpful and very friendly! Beautiful interior decorating and outside had plenty of great views!
Gary
Unbelievable beautiful property. I will say that it is a good 30 minute horse drawn carriage ride from town. Make sure you have what you need with you.
Dawne
The property was absolutely stunning, the staff helpful and friendly, the food and beverage service was above average. The Stonecliffe was away from the downtown area on a secluded part of the island and the quiet was a wonderful break from all normal everyday noise. I highly recommend the Inn at Stonecliffe.

We were enjoying a kid free weekend for our wedding anniversary and our stay at Stonecliff made that weekend a success. Everyone was friendly and kind. There was so much calm to the resort creating a relaxing and enjoyable environment. The front desk was always smiling and asking how they could make our stay better. Overall, we loved it and would recommend it to anyone!!
Douglas
The staff is second to none. Quiet relaxing place to stay.
Karen
Impeccable inn and grounds— off the beaten track and completely prefer this property to the Grand Hotel!
Carol
Very beautiful grounds.
Karen
The balcony view was great!
MURAT
Quiet yet Hampton-rich vibes. Think summer-lake cottage meets wine-by-the-fire-pit luxury. The place feels tucked away and peaceful but with posh touches and elegant eateries. Totally worth the splurge. My wife took 100 pictures before we even unpacked, and honestly, I get it.

Beautiful property with wonderful service!

The property is absolutely gorgeous, and the rooms are very clean. It is 2 miles from town, which makes itvery peaceful. The only drawback is the resort charges guests a fee to take the carriage in to and back from town. The only complementary tides are arrival and depature. Given the daily resort fee and distance to town, I would expect the carriage to be free. It is a lovely place to stay, just be prepared to either walk or pay to take the carriage ride.
John
This property was spectacular! And the hotel was an absolute gem; beautifully decorated with original art hanging everywhere. Just stunning!

Beautiful, peaceful, large room and balcony, friendly staff

The facility and property were amazing…First Class! However, the transportation to and from Stonecliffe to downtown was in-frequent and sometimes hard to get. It’s a 30+min carriage ride and we often had to wait 20-30 mins to get a carriage.
Dawn
Beautiful property. Staff so wonderful! One of the best places I have ever stayed in. Highly recommend.

Not a very relaxing 40th anniversary stay
Beautiful grounds and lovely room. Nice employees. Had bad service at breakfast and mediocre service for casual dinner. We didn’t like the constant “yaht rock” music played loudly from speakers everywhere we went. Quite loud and obnoxious after hours and hours of it. Pool area was difficult to relax and read with music blaring and no way to regulate what played or volume. Room was noisy for a long time at night from loud water pump - maybe adjoining room’s jet tub running ? Cleaning staff noisy early in morning in hallways. Staff didn’t seem concerned. We mentioned that we didn’t find our stay as restful as we hoped, when we checked out and staff barely reacted and said that she hoped we’d be back. It surprised us for a very expensive resort. Our first time staying here, and probably our last. But such a lovely place, it makes us sad.

Amazing!!!

Far from town but with beautiful grounds
Beautiful hotel. Poor soundproofing - woken up several times by guest walking around or dropping items on the floor above. The Straits restaurant was mediocre and overpriced - definitely recommend the
Pizza at the other restaurant. Gym was amazing. Kids’ pool was cold. Far from town - carriage rides were expensive, so not the best hotel if you aren’t into walking. Super fun lawn games and fire pits with free s’mores kits.

It is a beautiful property. Service could be improved but overall everyone was genuinely nice. Just a few hiccups but worked with Management to iron out.
