The only plus about this property was the balcony overlooking the beach and view of the bridge. Downside was the amount of flying bugs outside and came inside no matter which door you used.
Main door, damaged appeared it had been broken into at some point.
Beds, TERRIBLE, HARD, sheets too small, very very old mattress.
Shower, really short. Had to squat down just to get head wet.
Water in waterpark was brown, did not check the pool house.
Wife does NOT camp and commented she would have rather brought a tent and slept in the woods.
After lots of research will probably never stay in the city again.
Oh yeah and the tv didn't work either. Not that we were there to watch it but...

Upon an initial entry into the room, it was quite obvious that cleanliness is not high on their list. I can assure you, the carpet was not swept. I cannot assure you, the bedsheets were washed as the sheets were quite wrinkled and there were dead bugs. The comforter on the bed was visibly dirty as well. The wall had torn wallpaper under the air-conditioning unit and a large section of broken down wall was exposed. The door to the balcony had daylight showing through when it was closed. The bathroom has clearly had water issues because there was a water stain all around the toilet.
The staff was very kind when I did interact with them; check in and out was a breeze. The price was right for my budget, but I do think next time I’ll splurge on the accommodations, rather than risk a filthy space. We only stayed because we were literally only there to sleep and shower.

The location is convenient. However, some of the rooms are very outdated. The waterfront rooms with balconies overlooking the beach were much better than the others as far as updates. The staff was super helpful, but it was dirty on the beach and around the property due to the Fourth of July. People shot off fireworks and left them everywhere on the beach.

Overall our room was about as expected. Only complaints are that the shower light did not work so an extra table lamp was supplied in the bathroom. One of the table lamps in the room was also broken and not operational. Lighting was our only complaint. But since we mostly only needed the room to sleep, it was manageable. The staff were wonderful. This is our first reservation since COVID where a pool was operational. So we took advantage of that and did swim. We loved being right on the beach, which was well kept and had chairs and sun chairs as well as fire rings. Our room advertised that it slept 5 but there was no pull out couch for our fifth member to sleep. So it was a bit cramped. We are however still considering spending a little more money next time and reserve a cabin with a lake front view. We absolutely enjoyed our stay! Thank you!

Motel very out dated ,though the bath shower and beds were clean the room had a musty smell, pool was not very clean nor was the hot tub, these rooms are just ok for a quik stop over but I wouldnt recommend for extended stay,very few rooms have an actual water front or bridge view, also we had 10 days booked in to stay but after a family emergency came up requiring us to leave 2 days early the motel refused to refund or credit any part of the 2 days

If you like bugs and infestation, the insect inn is for you. Moldy mattress and stale envoirment. So if collecting moisture and sleeping in a colony is your thing . This is for you. The pictures make this place look worth it fooled us hard.

The room was dirty. My feet were black on the bottom from walking around after my shower. There were places in the ceiling they patched but left the tape on. The pool wasn’t available first day. Pictures on their site are nothing like the rooms. No coffee in room. A few snacks sold in the office. Tv was not 43”. The bed sheets and comforter were made wrong. Sideways. The amenities included small bottle of shampoo & conditioner both already opened and used. No bar soap. Ac was a broken down window unit. Carpet was wet in the morning. Plunger next to the shower to help drain. Horrible room.

NIGHTMARE STAY! The first room we had had an electrical problem. outlets did not work, no safety plates on outlets, nothing worked unbeknownst to us and refrigerator leaked water everywhere and food was ruined, maintenance came in and reluctantly just replugged refrigerator in and walked out which did not resolve the issues. Back to front desk where they hesitated to move us but realized we could be electrocuted as rugs were all wet so we had to move all our stuff (a lot) to a different room where after moving in found out toilet did not work, no microwave, we called for maintenance and were told to use the other room for toileting throughout the night as no maintenance available until the following day.... which does not work for two seniors, we fixed somewhat the flush .... beds were the worst we have ever slept on, beaches were unkempt, no trash cans, I can go on and on ... you should not be booking anyone in this facility. They do not care, when checking in another guest complained of no power and door not locking and the clerk just said \"good luck\"

I AM TRULY DEMANDING A REFUND AND WILL NOT HESITATE TO KEEP ON INSISTING ON REFUND1

The motel was very dated...our room smelled musty; the A/C didn't work well. The bathroom door was very difficult to open & close & not all of the light switches worked. The carpet felt damp like it had been cleaned, but not dried completely. We couldn't open the widows. The mattresses were worn out & dipped down on the side....we had to be careful not to roll too close to the edge for fear of rolling off the bed! It was a cheap room, but that's about it. The free coffee in the front office wasn't available until 9am.
The front desk staff was good about getting us enough towels for the 4 people that were registered in the room & also some soap & shampoo that was missing from the room. The location was fine, right on the beach, & just outside of the main town area...it was a little too far for us to walk to, but younger people may be able to do it. Overall, I was disappointed with the motel, but it was cheap.

The is beach access. My suggestion get a cabin. Do not get court yard room. You can hear everything outside. The AC does work amazing. But this inn is very very outdated. Almost had a kid hit my car with his truck. Had to get management and almost had to call the cops at 10 pm at night.

This is a bare minimum inn. For the price for 1 night. Not worth it at all stay someplace else.

The room was clean and well taken care of. it was a nice place by the beach and the balcony meant i could sleep with the door open on the lake and that was great! the staff was great with any questions or needs i had. the only down sides were the beds were very old and not very comfortable and there was little parking near to my room. everything else was great for the price! Check in was easy and the gentleman was very friendly. If you’re looking for a budget friendly stay and don’t mind an outdated property, this is a good choice.

Bottom line. Update of the property is mandatory. Paint the walls. Get rid of the shipping containers in the courtyard. Put new air conditioners in. And please update the photos of your property. The entire property should have pictures. I would’ve made a different decision much earlier had I known what the property was actually like.

The view was great room was full of dead and alive bugs had to get cleaning lady’s vacuum to clean up the room myself window and sliding door for deck full of dead bugs door to the room you could see outside threw the side and bottom pot smoke from rooms below us nothing was done no compensation for having to do the cleaning or the smoke from pot terrible management .

The room was clean but smelled a bit old and dated. The beds were in good condition, and the bathroom towels were a little worn. However, the price was reasonable for the quality of the room. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about local restaurants and attractions. I tried to use the pool, but it was locked, and I didn't bother to go to the front desk to inquire. Walking along the beach was great, especially with the firepit, chairs, and views.

Only saw staff when we checked in. He was nice. The key to the room didnt work smoothly. Had to jiggle and shake key to open door. Room was clean. Bedspread had stains. Beds were pretty comfortable. The bathroom had broken tiles and the light and fan over the tub area didn't work. The \"courtyard view\" was the parking lot and the other building. Every window to the pool was cloudy, meaning broken seals (we didn't go inside the building). We left earlier than the office opened. It was okay for the price.

Cuando llegué todo se veía aparentemente limpio pero tuve la peor experiencia de encontrar 2 chinches en la cama, la aparte de afuera del balcón lleno de telarañas y las sillas así como el ventanal para salir al balcón que da a la playa muy sucias, por otro lado la tina de baño al bañarse nunca se fue el agua, totalmente tapado. Muy mala experiencia, piden la tarjeta por si deja uno en malas condiciones la habitación; para cobrar cualquier situación, cuando ellos no tienen la higiene en ella. Muy mala experiencia. No recomiendo el lugar, me gustó al llegar pero al estar ahí lamentablemente fue otra cosa.

This is the worse place I have ever stayed I wouldn’t let my dog stay there, the beds were hard I wouldn’t let have been more comfortable on the concrete outside. The pool was not in service and nothing on the page was mentioned about that. The whole experience was horrible the advertisement was false I was led to believe I was reserving 3 small cabins on the beach to be put in an absolutely horrible hotel room one of the rooms had black mold all in the bathroom, my room had a bloody bandage on the floor

I booked what was advertised as a picturesque lakefront cabin. Instead, when I checked in, I was directed to what appeared to be a small shed-like structure in the middle of a parking lot. It was not lakefront, did not resemble the accommodation shown in the listing, and was absolutely not what I paid for.

I was assigned \"cabin\" #440, yet the only cabins I could find were numbered 1, 2, and 3. After multiple phone calls, being told to keep trying keys that did not work, and being instructed to try other units despite them being occupied, I finally insisted that someone come out and help me in person.

That is when I was shown the parking lot structure I had supposedly booked.
I repeatedly explained that I had specifically paid for a lakefront cabin. I was told that all lakefront cabins were occupied. I pointed out that I had booked a lakefront cabin and that one of the visible cabins appeared vacant.

After 15 minutes of arguing, I was moved to a lakefront motel room, which staff repeatedly described as an \"upgrade.\"

Unless you don't mind paying premium lakefront cabin prices and potentially ending up in what looks like a shed in a parking lot or being told that a low-quality motel room is an \"upgrade,\" then by all means, book here. Otherwise, I would not recommend this property.

When I booked it the pictures showed the cabin I thought we were staying in the cabin but we stayed in the building that’s really old next to the cabin it was on the lake but the room was very outdated, the door got jammed had to slam it open and shut the lock had to jiggle it to lock it the rooms had bugs but it was expected being off the lake but the furnitures were outdated broken or just didn’t belong. The rooms are spacious 2 bathrooms showers were small but got the job done we checked in late at night and the office was closed with a sign that said to check in from the hotel next door which they had a nice updated common area smelling good to then go to our room that was stuck in the 70’s but overall it got the job done the bed looked cleaned the lake was feet’s away from the room definitely wouldn’t come here if you’re looking for a romantic getaway

Drove from 4 hours away, only to find out that its ABANDONED! Had to figure out another stay last min which I'm surprised that my family could even find somewhere on such short notice. Only place that was not in business whatsoever, like no lights on, no people anywhere. Even the pool was bone dry which solidified that it wasn't in business. Fortunately got my full refund back(almost didn't) but if its not running for business then why are there still listings that are fully bookable. First time going to Mackinaw City this place really lets my hopes down and we were even debating on just going back home because our ride up was stressful and we were looking forward to checking in and relaxing after a stressful car ride up. But after we were able to get into the Clarion hotel then everything went smoothly after that> So if you're looking for a good place to stay, its definitely not this place, go down the road to the Clarion hotel and book there, they made it so easy and helped with everything we needed help with.

As soon as we walked in we knew we would never stay there. It was a risk to our health. Would not recommend this hotel. Pictures shown about place being reserved are deceiving, they show cabins, but they have nothing to do with the room you are renting!! I believe this is false advertising and Expedia should check into this! I booked a room for 4 adults thinking we were getting a room that sleep six, and that was not the case. I did call Expedia and they were able to get me an upgrade, but not the cabin that I thought I was renting. Later I was told they were rented thru an Airbnb.

This “cabin” looked nothing like the cabin photos on the listing. Totally run down. We couldn’t even take a shower due to cold water and spiders in the shower. Now, this one particular night is a legend in our family of that one night of our trip that was gross. I am rather proud that I toughed it out. I felt like a real wilderness woman out in the wild. (Room was non refundable so we were stuck)

It’s very run down and not very clean. The toilet clogged, the pillows were oddly small, there were no cups, and the safety bar in the shower was missing (they put some tape over the gaping hole) which made it difficult and unsafe for my husband who has a medical condition that effects his balance. The staff was super friendly and helpful, but even the nicest people in the world can’t make up for a poor facility. They REALLY need to invest in rehabbing their property before it’s beyond repair.

Place was not a pleasant stay. Basically held you to your room w/o reinbursement. Photos of room was not what the regular rooms look like. Cleaniness first room smelled like wet mildew old outhouse and not cleaned well no door on bathroom, bla k mold spots everwhere, second room no better carpet dirty spider webs and bugs althrough room and window ledges. Couldnt get my money back. I do not recommend anyone stay here better off sleeping outside.

My family came in for one night and just needed a place to sleep, nothing fancy. The price for this place was better than nearly all other hotels and was reasonable given it was a holiday weekend. However, the 'indoor' pool was in a building with the windows open (so not so much 'indoor') and the water was green. Certainly not inviting, so we obviously didn't swim. It is located just south of town so out of the hustle and bustle but close enough to enjoy what Mackinaw City has to offer. It is also right on the beach so that was nice and convenient.

We essentially needed a bed and a shower and that's what we got. Nothing fancy.

The hotel was not even staffed for check in. Sign posted on the lobby door stated to go to neighboring hotel to check in. This hotel’s staff was friendly, however, all she could do was give us our room key. The room and hotel was so dilapidated it appeared unsafe to stay. The room also had a strange odor. We actually found a different hotel to stay at and returned the room key. The neighboring hotel staff stated she didn’t blame us. Unbelievable!!

Pictures advertised aren't what they are.

The pictures that are on the site for booking are nothing like it in real life. The staff was nice. But the rooms were filthy. Cobwebs every where, the door had choclate or something all over it, fridge smelled like rotten eggs. The floor was so bad. And no where to plug anything in unless you unplug a lamp, and plugs aren't near bed. and lamps don't work. The pool was green water. Good thing their was lake access. I wish i took more pictures. Glad we were at the room just to sleep.

With the pictures posted on the website you feel like you’re getting one of the cabins that’s waterfront. That was my fault for not reading between the lines.

It’s like a bait and switch on the room.

The room was clean but the decor is outdated and the furnishings in the room need to be steam cleaned. I would say the furnishings were dirty.

The AC was cold.

Another thing I found unsettling was that you don’t have a way to lock the door inside the room. The deadbolt in my room did not work.

The room was very musty and mold smelling. There was a hole in the wall next to the AC, a hole big enough under the door for a mouse to crawl through. The pillows were stained yellow. I could see the bed bugs crawling around. We walked in and walked out of the room. The ladies at the front desk very un helpful and rude. 10/10 would NOT recommend

Booked through Expedia and like many other reviewers, we were completely bait and switched. The listing showed a cute, relaxing beach front cabin, but what we got was a dirty, run down motel. Our room had bugs, dirty sheets, and even a blood stain on one of the beds.

To make matters worse, when we woke up there was a handprint on the outside of our window where someone had clearly tried to slide it open during the night. Most of the windows on the property were already broken, which makes it obvious there is a serious safety and peeping tom issue here.

Yes, you get what you pay for, but the listing should accurately reflect what this motel actually is. Do not be fooled by the pictures. This is not a cozy cabin experience. It is a filthy and unsafe motel.

Not a bad stay if you are just there to sleep.

The pictures from the main inn site was a little deceiving to the room we rented. However, the inn was close to the beach and nearby some shops.

Bed was comfy and clean. Room had five lamps and lighting only one worked. One light the cord was taped together with electrical tape. No coffee, no microwave. Pool smelled or chlorine however it was still a light shade of green. Nice girl at check-in did upgrade us from court yard room to beach view. Was very nice of her
I hate to see what the court yard room would have looked like. Stay was nice except one night of partying up above us and outside by our balcony. Marijuana smell coming through out air conditioner.i don't know if I would stay there again. I just want to let the staff know that you were nice and friendly. Even let us use microwave in the office. Biggest thing is I like my coffee in the morning and didn't like having to go out somewhere to get it. Thank you so much for the upgrade for our 52 anniversary and my wife's 70 th birthday. Thank you.

This place is a scam and should not be listed on this website. - I booked while out on the road, relying on the photos (not where you will be staying!). When I read the reviews (dirty, mouldy, noisy, in disrepair etc), I realised I could not take my children there. I contacted Expedia who contacted the Hotel and the hotel refused to refund as its 'their rules'. I wonder why. They are literally thieving money off people.

If i could give this place a 0 star i would first of all i showed up at 5am no staff at all all doors locked no number to call other than them leaving another hotels number to handle their hotel. i was told by the other hotel that waterfront would open at 7 so i stayed in the parking lot no one ever showed up i went back then was told wait till 8 i waited no one showed up again i contacted expedia and they said hey got a hold of someone’s number saying they were on their way when finally after 3 hours someone showed up the worker was extremely rude told me i can’t get a room despite waiting so long then i asked okay can i get a refund to stay somewhere else because i have one day up north she proceeds to say no come back at 4 if u want a room even tho every single room was open the pictures they post are not the rooms you’re going to get they post their best room for all rooms the view is the parking lot it’s a hell hole and they’re scamming u of ur money don’t come here pick any other inn nearby this place is not a safe or truthful hotel the service was the worst service i’ve ever experienced in any industry

Area was good. Bathrooms were rusty, there was a spider under the sink, toilets weren't sufficiently cleaned, one of the rooms had no trash cans in it. I asked for a partial credit both from the inn itself and from expedia and was denied. They only offered a credit in one key cash to use towards another hotel booking. We hardly ever stay in hotels so that wasn't a satisfactory resolution.

Short staffed possibly but the rooms weren't getting cleaned before people checked in. Black mold in the shower and the toiletries we were given were all wet. Room smelled dirty and moldy. Only good thing was we were on the beach

A very disappointed stay in Mackinac. They have 2 sets of rooms one is in the original hotel and the other is an old rooms that should be bulldozed. Didn't feel secure no lighting in the parking lot no lighting at the room had to be 2 feet away to see the room number. I'm all of 5 foot 7 and in this room I could touch the ceiling. Musty smelling and damp in the room. Hole in the wall in the bathroom and holes in the rug. And to top it all off the tv didn't work. For a grand total of 230us for 2 nights way overpriced.

Motel is disgusting; cabins MIGHT be ok.

Only consider staying in the beach side cabins. The motel itself is disgusting. Mold on the curtain in the bathroom, dirty sheets on the bed, some sticky substance in a puddle on the bedside table, need I say more? Not worth $50 much less the $178 I was charged.
