The room smelled like bleach when we entered but looking around you could quickly see dirty floors, dusty baseboards and a ripped screen door. Several wall outlets were broken - the plugs would fall out when you tried to plug anything in. Overall the property feels run down and barely clean. Definitely would not recommend.

Being blunt...don't stay here. Rooms smell of mildew, the shower rod is too rusted for the curtain to slide on it, there is a dehumidifier in the room but it is broken, the fire alarm is missing, etc. Plus this is not a waterpark, yes ther is a pool, but that's it, nothing else. I spend over 50 nights a year in hotels, this is the worst in years

The water park is inoperable and definitely not available for use. The beach was ok ...lots of trash. The room was ok. The bathroom had some pretty obvious water damage to one of the walls.
The noise from the room above us made it impossible to sleep and the front desk didn't seem to care. The morning of our checkout there was no hot water so we all had ice cold showers. When I told the front desk she stated that we weren't alone as the entire hotel was without hot water. No apologies offered for anything. Very disappointed in our stay.

Very dirty, we started 3 nights no cleaned the rooms when I called for room service they said it has to be requested 12 hours prior. They partially lost power so we had no AC or hot water for hours. And on our last night the AC room broke and we had to switch rooms. The doors and the hallway was full of mosquitoes and flies on the door, on the walls and dead on the floor just disgusting.

Fantastic Fourth of July stay! Trish, Tamara, and Samantha were so warm, welcoming, and helpful. They made us feel right at home. The room was beautifully updated, spotless, and had an incredible balcony view. Watching the fireworks from our balcony was unforgettable and easily the highlight of our trip. Great location, excellent amenities, and the beach fire pits were the perfect way to relax in the evening. We'd absolutely stay here again!

Decent view but the hotel is kind of outdated and gross. In our room it looks like somebody just nailed some brand new pine over all the old stuff and left the old furnishing. There was no coffee cups so I had to use the plastic cups for water, our mattress was stained, and the AC sounded like a train running, not to mention that though pool area was closed off and nobody told us. The beds were pretty hard, not a huge point but I know I definitely need something a bit softer, and our room was filled with bugs.... Definitely was not worth the $375 that was charged for July 4th. Front desk staff was really nice.

We stayed in a renovated lake side room for one night. It was a beautiful view of Lake Huron. The exterior of the hotel was in need of paint and repairs in spots. It was loud and there were dogs barking in the room next door (not the hotels fault but still a bit annoying).
We did not go to the pool or waterpark, however the waterpark appeared to be under construction. The ice machine on our floor did not work and there was no elevator.

It is what it is - okay for a night but wouldn’t stay longer than that.

Not what pictures portray. Living in Michigan my entire life I think all of mackinaw city has depleted in cleanliness and price gauging. We booked a “superior room” which means nothing like the photos. We were told it’s just a standard queen with a water view balcony. The room was so dirty.. mold in the shower on the ceilings, stains on the sheets, filthy lampshades. The lady at the front desk was as nice as she could be and the manager moved us over one room.. slight cleanliness improvement as far as clean sheets at least. Thankfully we only stayed one very short night.. but definitely read reviews before you think you’re getting a great deal.

We checked in Friday about 8pm for memorial day weekend with 2 kids excited for the pool and splash pad, only to learn it wasn't functioning. Room wasn't cleaned or stocked Saturday while we were gone all day and I had to go to the front desk for towels for showers. Room wasn't cleaned sunday...had to request after 3pm towels and stuff were at least restocked and all the sand be swept off the floors. I was told by the front desk they only had 1 housekeeper with alot of rooms, but I never seen more than 10 cars in the parking lot the entire weekend including ours. Beds were ok, pillows could have been better. Shower and water were good. Nice beach view from our balcony. Not sure I would recommend to anyone or stay here again.

we took a girls trip and stayed here. the place was pretty clean except the outside of the room doors. it is really close to shopping and restaurants. we loved that we could see the bridge from the beach and there's fire pits to have fires on the beach! overall it was a great experience and we will definitely come back to this hotel!

First room had mold on the wall second room had a dirty microwave and refrigerator. The balcony had cigarette buts and a beer can. Tv was disconected from cable. Reconnected it to find out batteries wete dead in the remote. Went to call the office and the phone cord was disconnected couldnt plug it in because it was the wrong cord it didnt fit.

Checked in quite late and staff was friendly. Wasn’t shown what building our room was in, so we wandered around until we found it. Room didn’t look like it had been occupied for a while. Turned on the A/C and a bunch of bugs flew out. There were cobwebs in the corners of most walls/ceilings. There was a very large garden spider living in the sink drain, web and all. The sink was dirty and the toilet seat wasn’t cleaned. This was a room that has not been updated unlike their water view rooms and it definitely needs an update. We thought the shower rod was going to fall off the wall, so because of that and the bugs we decided not to take showers. It was nice that we could leave our car there while we went to Mackinac Island for the morning.

I had such a great stay at the Blue Water Beachfront Hotel. The view from the room was absolutely stunning — you can literally step outside and be right on the beach. Everything was clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the staff were friendly and helpful without ever being intrusive.

It’s the perfect mix of peaceful and convenient — close enough to St. Ignace and Mackinaw City for exploring, but tucked away enough to feel like your own private getaway. My favorite part was waking up early and watching the sunrise over the water — it was absolutely breathtaking and worth every minute of sleep lost.

I’d definitely stay here again — it’s the kind of place that makes you slow down, breathe, and just enjoy being up north. 🌅

Everyone was super friendly. Our room was in the midst of an update. The wood on the walls still needed sealed, but overall was clean. The bathroom floor did need a good scrubbing but there were no bugs or spiders anywhere. The balcony was beautiful (the screen was really torn up on the screen door but didn’t take away from the beauty outside) We would totally stay here again. It was beautiful and a perfect location. Not within walking distance from downtown-but a shuttle to the ferry was readily available and it was nice to be a little way as way from the hustle & bustle of downtown. The beach is private (for the hotel guests only) which is wonderful as well. It was so peaceful and serene.

The only thing this place has going for it is the view of the water & location. Probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed. Key cards for the room quit working after the lobby was closed. We had to go to the hotel next door to be let into our room. The front desk person over there was very upset at us for this. Dead bugs everywhere, beds were broken & uncomfortable, the floors were filthy to the point my feet were black on the bottom, air conditioner was loud & barely worked, the screen to the balcony is broken & the screen is torn, all of the outlets are loose & nothing will stay plugged in, wifi never worked. The 2nd night of staying we were woken up at 1:30 in the morning by a truck stuck on the beach outside our balcony. We called the front desk twice, nothing was ever done. The only thing this place had going for it was the view of the water. Until of course this truck got stuck.

Spent the night there to walk the mackinaw bridge on Labor Day weekend.The room was three hundred and thirty dollars. The room is a sixty to seventy dollar room. Our phone charges would not stay plugged in.They kept falling out.The sockets are all outdated the t.V is very small and sits on a table for the price of the room.This should have been a sweet type experience.And it's just a low ball room.Never again will we be staying there.

The room was remodeled but floors were very dirty. It had a musty smell. We used a room deodorizer while there. The television didnt connect to wifi. Pillows were not comfy. Moldy shower head and baseboards were detaching in the bathroom. Bathroom shower curtain was old and dirty. Ww checked into the hotel and ten minutes later checked back out. The room especially the bathroom wasn’t clean and there was black mold throughout the room. My daughter is allergic and had an immediate reaction. The clerk gave us another room to stay in but it also had mold growing in the bathroom. The front desk clerk gave us a refund and booked us into another hotel at the same price. Patricia was very nice about the whole situation which I appreciated.

The bed was good. I had a couple of small things that I reported to the desk staff as I checked out. One is that the floor was a little bit “sandy.” I could have tracked it in when I brought things to my room (it is a beach hotel, after all). I had a small problem with one light fixture (one of the two bulbs was out). The other issue is that once I got the fixture turned on, I couldn’t turn it off. At first I thought there was a dearth of plugs to use for re-charging my devices but then I discovered the open socket places on a wall above the couch in my room. So it was a small challenge that was resolved-just odd placement of open outlets. 😁The very best unadvertised feature was the fireworks display at 10pm -just because it was “Saturday.” The desk staff noted it as I checked in or I would have missed a nice unobstructed view of fireworks over the water. The room was beachfront and the view was beautiful. Every morning there was a beautiful sunrise! The ferry to Mackinac Island was a 4 minute walk which was very convenient so we didn’t have to drive and pay for parking. The room had been upgraded and was very nice and roomy. It was clean but it could use a deep clean. The hot water was a little tricky, a couple of times in the early morning (6:30) it wasn’t hot but wait awhile then it was hot. I tried calling the front desk to get more towels and didn’t get through to anyone but I did finally get more towels. When I checked in the staff was very friendly and when I stopped in to talk to them they were friendly and helpful. We stayed for 5 nights and we did enjoy our stay there. Overall for the price and the location I would stay again.

We were in our room for literally 10 minutes and encountered fleas. When contacting the staff, I was told I could leave, however, would still be charged. Another individual staying at the hotel had the same issue during our check-in, which the staff dismissed. I will fight any charge received as we left immediately. Rude staff and dirty hotel!

The room was one of the updated beachfront two queen beds room. It was spacious and had a great view. Access to the beach was amazing for the warmer hours of the day. Everything was within walking distance of the hotel so we didn't have to worry about parking downtown.

When we arrived at 2:30 we asked if we could get an early check-in, but our room wasn't cleaned yet which was fine because check in isn't until 4. So in the mean time we parked and went to check out the water. The water was clean and the beach was nice. There were some broken chairs and towels laying around but there were also chairs that were fine. Some people had brought their own chairs from home. My son who is nine loved skipping stones, looking for rocks and chasing some seagulls while we waited til four o'clock to get to check in. At 4 we went to the front desk to check in. Our room still wasnt ready, so instead of getting pissed we just spent more time in the water(only up to our knees because we had on shorts.) At 4:40 we went back and our rooms were ready.

It was nice because it was beach side & near everything. Room was clean. Service was not good we stayed 3 days and never got clean towels even when we asked. The pool and water park were not in service and never told.

We had problems when checking in. And the hall to our room was filthy. The screen on our room's door was broken open. The ceiling to the bath leaked. We were reluctantly offered another room, but we canceled our reservation and moved next door to The Clarion, which was the best thing that happened.

The hotel is in a good location. The room was remodeled but the furniture very outdated. The room had a lot of bugs when we checked in (mosquitoes and flies)
