The grounds at the hotel are beautifully maintained and you can tell the management takes great pride in that. It was a joy to see families enjoying the pool, playground, fire pit, and beach, and the views of the lake are lovely. My only suggestion is that the rooms are badly in need of a renovation. Dated and tired. And the toiletries need an upgrade.

For the price, it should have been more clean as there were ants in the room, there was a hole in the screen with all the fish flies and other bugs around which made that screen patio not very useful. The pools were ok, but were not well watched as there were no towels and they needed to be asked to bring more and they closed the pool before the scheduled pool close on one of the nights which made my kids super bummed that they couldn't enjoy a later swim after they got all dressed up to do so. Overall, it was an average stay as it was close to the beach, close to the ferry, and had free breakfast. I just think there are better options for the premium price that was paid, so it was a disappointment

While this hotel is in a tourist-friendly location, my stay unfortunately did not live up to the high ratings seen on their website or the premium price of $500/night.

The Room: The room felt quite cramped and a bit dated compared to the online photos. Cleanliness was also not quite up to the standard I would expect at this price point.

The Breakfast: The breakfast area was very crowded with long lines both mornings, and several food items weren't replenished. The selection itself felt more aligned with a budget-friendly hotel (standard pre-packaged pastries, powdered or fake eggs, and frozen patties) rather than a luxury stay.

Family Amenities: On the positive side, if you are traveling with kids, the pool and the s'mores activity seem like great perks.

Noise & Service: Unfortunately, I had a very sleepless night due to a crying child in the neighboring room. While I understand families have a tough time traveling, the hotel's offer of a $25 credit felt a bit discouraging given the high nightly rate and the lack of sleep.

If you are traveling with a family and want to be right in the center of the summer action, this might be a fit. However, for those looking for a premium, quiet experience, my honest advice would be to stay a bit further out of town and drive in to get better value for your money.

We booked using Expedia, and paid over $540 for one night! The room did not have a sofa bed as advertised when booking the room. The staff was notifed and stated they had issues with the sofa bed and it had been removed. The hotel took only $50 off of our stay for this big inconvenience.
The breakfast was ok. I definitely would not spend that amount of money again to stay here.

1. 328 has a busted floor with gaps in the bathroom.

2. 228 was not ready when we checked in, they were still in the room cleaning when we got to room.

3. 4 different times when going to pool there were NO TOWELS available at pool

4. The guy that charged the wrong card for the ferry tickets even though I said “charge the same card as yesterday” he did not even check and 3 days later the amount is STILL charged on my card and not been refunded because of his carelessness. That was a big problem!

5. No biscuits for the gravy (in the middle of the breakfast rush)

We will not be staying here again and would not recommend it either.

This hotel was a mixed bag of good and bad. The hotel is nice. We had a room on the lake and the room was clean and comfortable. Except the people in the next room left a dog with constant barking on Tuesday night for 4 hours. We spoke with the manager several times. They said they couldn't do anything about it. They stated it was a service dog. Why wasn't service dog with them. It started again early in the morning for 3 hours. Spoke with manager. They offered to move US. Why not them. We wanted to be on ground floor and we had our suitcases unpacked and settled in. We came to relax after a hard school year as a teacher. You may want to ask about pet policy before you stay here. The advertising said no pets.

My mother and I only stayed one night at this location but it was great! It's honestly such a great value because it has everything you need, is waterfront, and it's still so inexpensive. I believe if we return to the area to visit Mackinac Island, this is definitely where we'll be staying. Only two things I want to mention in case helpful for others.
1. Breakfast is in the main building BUT they do have a golf cart driving around to pick you up if you're in a further building - which is super nice!
2. Parking overnight is not free - it is $25 a night to leave your car in their lot to visit Mackinac Island. All google searches told us it was free but it seems that changed so just wanted to share. It's comparable to other locations and the ferry overnight parking so if it's more convenient for you still, go for it!

The gnats were out in force so the screen door and deck were not an option, but that’s not the hotels fault just be aware of the season you book. Right on the shore of the lake so the view was great. I really enjoyed this property. Very nice room with a view. The room was bigger than a typical hotel room. The beds were very comfortable. Staff was great, breakfast was good. When we arrived our first evening there, the hotel was making s’mores by campfire down by the lake. So we tossed our stuff in our room and made our way down. This was the perfect ending to our day. I sat around the campfire while the kids ran around (much needed after our 8 hour road trip!). We spent two nights here. We took a shuttle to the ferry the next morning to go over to Mackinac Island. This is a great hotel conveniently located for just that!

Bad: we stayed in the \"Michigan\" building which was closest to the water and it was in pretty bad condition -- lots of large ants in the room, electrical outlet and switch covers were coming off the wall, insufficient (and loud) air conditioner that left the room dank and musty smelling

The properties location is ideal for walking to the downtown area where a number of restaurants / shopping are located. Walking distance to Sheplers Ferry vs taking the shuttle. The complimentary breakfast is the usual hotel breakfast. We stayed in the “Ontario” building 3rd floor. The room had a beautiful view of Lake Heron. It was disappointing that we couldn’t enjoy the patio or open the patio door because of the lake flies. The room was very clean. The king size bed mattress was well worn with sagging which impaired our sleep quality. Shower at 8:30am water temp was only slightly warm and water pressure poor. Towel are standard bath towel. It was nice that they had four in the room. The television TV was small for room size and an older television. A smart TV would be a nice upgrade. I believe there has been some water damage where tile transitions to carpet there was a very soft spot when you stepped there. Two fabric chairs were well worn. It was evident that they keep the property clean. It just needs some update of a few items.

My main concern for a motel stay is cleanliness. From the bathroom, to the beds, the room, pool, hot tub and grounds: all spotlessly clean.
The breakfast was barely average motel breakfast.
Very quiet overall, no sound between rooms or slamming doors.
Check in and staff - great.
Very close to ferry to Mackinac Island, 5 minute walk.
The beds were very comfortable and no musty or chemical smells in the room.
Nice elevator.
Good views of lake, pool and grounds.
Problems: There is an big open crack in the bathroom tub floor with a feeble attempt to fix.
The bathroom fan which ran whenever the light was on, the sound went from a loud fan to just short of a cheap kitchen blender sound, motor bad.
The balcony door took great effort to open/close, stuck very hard and needed lubrication.
Overall the layout, comfort and cleanliness were very good and I would likely stay again, hopefully with a better bathroom.
